Back again at carbones . This time to try their happy hour menu ! We went on a Wednesday around 3 ( happy hour Monday-F 3-5:30 pm) And it was not very busy perfect for a peaceful time . The bartender was fabulous he got us our menus and took our order immediately and constantly checked to make sure we had everything we need To start I got the cosmo ! Which was perfect ( strong) with great flavours definitely felt buzzed before I even finished the drink! Highly recommend We put in an order for the caprese sandwich which was VERY GOOD ! Highly recommend fresh chicken cutlet topped with mozerella and pesto on a freshly roasted bun ! We also ordered the nicks pizzette which was a smaller pizza ( but still a good size for $9) The crust was crispy light char , not too thick but not too thin either ! Perfect crust ! Topped with pepperoni , honey and chilli flakes ! I will say carbones has the BEST PIZZA in town and I will stand by my opinion of the best pizza in CT ! I LOVE carbones pizza ! Lastly I ordered the Tito's blackberry lemonade which was very good as well equal balance of blackberry and lemonade flavour ( neither one felt overpowered by the other ) not as strong which is what I needed to end the meal ! Overall 10/10 great food , great atmosphere and great service ! And the happy hour was great prices and great options ! Highly recommend and will definitely be back

I really wanted to like this place but was disappointed the food was meh. The menu didn't have anything that really called out to me. The only highlights of our dinner was the first two drinks we ordered....a Manhattan for the hubby and a Blueberry Lemonade and that heavenly House made Ricotta Appetizer. The fried calamari was decent. I went with the Short rib it was drenched in sauce with giant chunks of carrots couldn't even see the mashed potatoes. The Short Rib was very fatty and the mashed potatoes were to loose. My hubby had a pasta special with Crab which he said was good had plenty of Crab but nothing special. I'd say if we do come back we'll see tick to Happy Hour.

We had a terrible Mother's Day dinner at Carbone's Prime. Our server was dismissive and rude. She expressed disappointment when we did not order alcohol or appetizers. Good thing we didn't because we wasted plenty of money on three entrees that were incredibly underwhelming. I had overcooked tuna, my husband had undercooked steak, and my mother had rigatoni with vodka sauce and chicken scraps thrown in. We had to slowly sip our room temperature tap water served in tiny glasses because the refills were slow to come. We also had to request bread, and rather than speak to us in a normal manner, our server yelled "I thought they brought it" as she was walking away. She quickly walked away several times before we could make any requests whatsoever. We felt like we wasted our time and money to only be disrespected on top of it. The only employee to treat us kindly was the nice woman at the hostess desk who checked in on us briefly during our meal. We didn't want to complain to her or spend the rest of our Mother's Day dwelling on how bad the experience was. Carbone's Prime needs to do better.

Finally caught this place open and glad we did. Very easy to get to, plenty of parking, beautiful upscale decor and ambiance. You can tell it's a favorite for happy hour....we'll, it's now our favorite too. Really great happy hour menu and all the food we had was very good. Murphy, our waiter was super nice and accommodating - thanks Murphy . Besides the unique hours of operation, I would go back and have regular dinner. Great place for a group, date or even a solo treat.

Carbone Prime is an absolute favorite! Their happy hour is amazing and such a great way to enjoy top-notch food and drinks. The chicken parm is outstanding--perfectly crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. On top of that, the ambiance is fantastic: stylish, welcoming, and the perfect vibe whether you're out for drinks or a full dinner. Every visit is a great experience, and I can't wait to go back!

I wanted to like this place but I didn't have the greatest experience. It was a busy Monday night. Our waiter was friendly but very clearly stretched thin as he was running around and not really checking on us. Entrees came out after almost 40min and tasted very average. The salmon ravioli was mushy and super fishy, although the sauce was really good. Salmon was average, the butter beans and tomato ragu was so acidic and bitter it was inedible. Caesar salad tasted like the prepackaged grocery store salads. Calamari was good though. We decided to order dessert thinking it would be fast but we waited almost 30min for it. I heard others also make remarks about how they were at the restaurant for way too long. I don't mind waiting for exceptional food but this food wasn't worth the wait unfortunately. Perhaps their other menu items are better, and it is best to come on a night that isn't busy.

Nice restaurant, sat in the bar area so it was a little loud but not too bad. Both drinks I tried (summer spritz and chocolate martini) were excellent. Food was pretty good but needed salt. Dessert was very nice. Service was great. Would definitely return. :)

Have gone to Carbone's Prime for two happy hours and had a good experience both times. The outside of the restaurant is unassuming but the interior is upscale and clean, with a nice large bar area. Despite it being a weekday it gets really busy around dinner time (5-6 PM) so be prepared. The bartenders were busy so they weren't particularly warm but were as efficient as they could be being as busy as it is. The drinks were made well and brought quickly. The food came out in a timely fashion and was all pretty tasty-- nothing new or exciting, but just well executed basics like calamari and a chicken caprese sandwich. Fresh, hot and well balanced flavor. Overall a nice place for a nice happy hour, would love to come again and maybe try their dinner menu.

Went to Carbone's for the first time on Friday night at 7:15. It was very busy as to be expected! I could tell the staff were doing the best they could but did seem a bit overwhelmed, it did take quite a while for anyone to take our drink & app order (maybe like 30 minutes). However, as the night when on and people left the service improved significantly. Everyone was very nice and professional, it just seemed like not enough staff for the crowd. HOWEVER, the food was AMAZING!!! I'm blown away and have been telling all my friends about this place. Truly every appetizer, side, main dish HIT. The maple glazed scallops were some of the best things I've ever eaten. The side of short rib Mac and cheese was excellent. Steak cooked to perfection. I am 100% looking forward to going back and trying more menu items!

Six of us went on a Saturday evening for a celebratory birthday dinner. The decor is very cool, modern clean vibe. Service was great. Active manager came by twice to check in on tables. The food was exceptional, everyone enjoyed their meals with no complaints. Would recommend reservations Def would go back

This is only my 2nd time here as it's a bit far from home, but we met some friends who live more south so it was a good middle ground. Being one exit north of the routes 9 & 91 interchange is a great location! Anyway, it was crowded on this Saturday evening, and the elegant decor is worth mentioning. The complimentary focaccia with sun-dried tomato accompaniment was amazing! The meatball app was nice (see pic). Two of us enjoyed the halibut puttanesca with broccolini special, and another got the arugula salad** with salmon. The Salmon was a nice size, but the salad was pretty small. Note: I can't recall the specific name of salad, but cannot validate from their website as it seems to insist on downloading an pdf or the app to get menu... which is ridiculous. Service was good.

I had dinner with colleagues here. We ordered so many appetizers I was maybe half full when my entree came. I loved the Eggplant fries and risotto potato croquettes, I would definitely get them again. My colleague and I ordered two entrees to share because we both wanted both. The steak was great, perfectly medium rare. We also got the truffle fries which were amazing. The scallops were super fresh. The risotto was alright. I'd definitely come back again. Staff was friendly, super nice ambience inside. Lots of parking outside.

First impression was the amazing smoke roll outside! The use of real wood smoke is a big plus for me. Very clean and classy interior. Super nice wait staff in restaurant. I was very surprised to get blown off by the male bartender with a man-bun... open tab with $100 of drinks coming and he decided to not fill our order. We got what we wanted at our table. My huge pork chop was cooked to med as requested, And topped with bacon-onion jam!! the mashed potatoes and asparagus were delicious! And I closed out with crème brûlée! Winning!

I wanted to give them a second chance. Sometimes businesses have bad days and I don't like to judge based off of one experience unless it's super bad. Well, this time was worse. Ordered the chopped salad. All you could taste was dressing and it was soggy and swimming. Barely any meat. Then the pizza came. One half had pepperoni and hot honey and the other had meatball and ricotta. The pepperoni side was literally disgusting. Like the salad, it was completely drenched in hot honey and sickly sweet. It was pooling on my plate. You couldn't taste the sauce, cheese, and toppings. Speaking of the sauce, there was little to none, had no flavor, and it was canned. I know canned sauce when I taste it. This was especially shocking because Sally's is known for their sauce. I'm very disappointed because I usually love the sauce at Sally's l, but this wasn't it. And then there's another problem: the pizza came out burnt and cold. New Haven style is slightly charred, not BURNT. It wasn't just the crust; it was also the undercarriage. See the photos I attached. It also took 50 minutes from the time our order was placed to get our one pizza when the restaurant wasn't even at half occupancy. Service was terrible!! We weren't even offered red pepper or parm with our pizza and weren't asked if we wanted dessert. Not like we wanted to stay after that mess, but it would've been nice to be asked. Our server was never near our table and it took a long time to get the things we wanted. We felt completely ignored all night. I feel like this is totally understandable on a busy night, but the place wasn't packed by any means and there were only a few tables occupied. We had to wait an extra 20 minutes after we finished our pizza before our server came around again and just handed us the check and walked away without a word. Not coming back.

That's the downside and I would give it 3.5 honestly because of it. Service was alright, our waiter wasn't bad, but he told us pizza will be right out and we still waited 20 minutes. All we ordered was a small firebird pizza. Sally's apizza describes it as "Mozzarella, Sally's tomato sauce, oven roasted chicken, diced sweet and hot peppers, onion" The flavor is really good and I do like how thin crusted the pizza is. Next time I would like to try the meat specialty pizzas. Last time we got cheese and pepperoni and it was good. The pepperoni is a but greasy but it's expected.

The place was absolutely packed when we arrived so we decided to just order a large pizza to go, half pepperoni and half sausage and meatball. The pizza took maybe twenty minutes or so to make and when it was done, well, it looked absolutely spectacular. My half of the pizza was the sausage and meatball and it was like a whirlwind of nostalgia punching me in the mouth with each and every bite. The crust is tough and crunchy with delicious charred flavor from the high heat firing. We tried their tomato pie with mozzarella which I quite liked. It was on the blander side but with the oregano and garlic, was quite palatable. We also got their famous clam pie but we were not terribly impressed. To me it almost tastes like a clam pasta on a pizza. It's basically just what the name implies. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again but the tomato pie was great. Our service was stellar. The people checked on us frequently and got us all the drinks we wanted. They helped us pack the pizza in foils so we could out the leftovers in our hotel fridge. A word of warning! Not…read moreclams, not cheese, not crust--just the allium family's most fart-prone, overhyped stepchild. I may or may not be contemplating a couple of Tums. I'm conflicted on this 2/5 rating since I wish there was a 2.5/5 option here. There are some promising things about Frank Pepe's: a coal-fired oven, photos of the same white clam pizza I ordered that look more like pizzas I had in Italy than the one I got, and other options for toppings that might work out better. Perhaps asking for light garlic and maybe the addition of the calabrian chilies from the seasonal special pizza (or pickled jalapeños, if available) would've fixed the balance (and topping palatability) of this pizza. A different pizza also may be substantially tastier, but goshdarnit, we're close enough to the ocean that I'd like to think the white clam is a slam-dunk. It's even listed in neon in the window! As ordered, unchanged, off the menu, though, I feel like I need to leave this state for a pizza just to feel something. Connecticut calling itself "the pizza state" has thus far been a lie; a cruel joke wherein a few outstanding outliers try to gloss over the fact that most of the state's pizza is mid-to-bad. "Mystic Pizza" being one of the state's most famous audiovisual exports sort of fits given that the availability of standout pizza here appears to be a mystical unicorn I've yet to find after moving here last year. Pepe's gets serious props for using large chunks of clams that don't look like the typical, uniformly cut, restaurant-supply-can chunks, but they were a bit rubbery and almost completely drowned out by the amount of garlic. It's like they were cooked too long, and the moisture from the clams evaporated accordingly. The crust had a little crunch to it as well, but lacked the crispy bubbles and heavier charred spots I expect from this style of pizza and from the assorted menu photos. Either go foldable or go harder on the fire--anywhere in between lands in disappointment territory. Commit to a bit. $8 a pint is a bit much for basic beer selections like Sam Adams and Peroni, too, but that's sort of my least concern. We live in Hell where everything is expensive lately, and at least beer prices haven't shot up as badly as gas prices. I probably should've ordered the sangria in hindsight. White peach? Here for it. Also, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt. I really should give it a second chance with a more traditional tomato-sauce pizza, or maybe a margherita. If you go, expect it to fall short of the hype unless whoever made the nicely bubbly white clam pie in the photos posted here is manning the oven. Unless you like garlic as much as I like cheese, consider asking to go light on the garlic for a better-balanced pizza if you order this one.
