First and foremost Leo's make's great food. I ordered the clam pizza with white sauce and anchovies and it was delicious. I also ordered a cold cut style hoagie and chicken wings. The sandwich was very good which I ate on my plane ride the following day. Customer service is awesome, not sure if I was speaking with Leo, but he took my order and relayed everything back exactly as ordered. Leo's also called me back to ensure I wanted fresh basil on the pizza which was great. That is important to me considering I live in Nevada and l'm lucky to get a "hello" most days from businesses. One of the most important aspects of good takeout/delivery pizza is that it has to withstand the steam circulating around the hot pizza when the lid closes. Leo's is our neighborhood pizza joint and it has that classic delivery crust type (a bit heartier than New Haven style, but not too thick) that holds up on short trips, and the cheese and toppings all hold up well too. Leo's has a few tables, but I would say it's more of a takeout/delivery outfit. One of my favorite parts of a Leo's pizza is the sauce. The flavors are balanced and each pizza has a healthy amount of sauce. Today, I just got a slice of cheese pizza that was ready in minutes and I like that they have that option. Leo's also has my favorite meatball grinder in the immediate area. The meatballs are very good and they slice them, which is great for sandwich management. The mozzarella is perfectly melted. The sauce is very good, and they have topping choices like grilled onions and peppers. The bread holds it altogether nicely, but keeps the focus on what's inside. Leo's Pizza is located right in the middle of a neighborhood towards the center of Wethersfield, a 3 minute walk from my house. I do not get food here often is it's just okay but you know what, I just had two pizzas from here and they were very......very good. Service was fairly quick with my pick up order, they were very nice and claimed business was a little slow during this COVID-19 pandemic on a Thursday afternoon. I was able to try their thin crust bacon margarita and their buffalo chicken pizzas. Before I complained that their buffalo chicken was really greasy and the chicken was very dry but this time around, complete opposite. Their bacon margarita was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved it. Plenty of bacon bits, beautiful thin crust, quality cheese, tasty sauce, just much better than I could have ever expected. I feel like Leo's Pizza has been her litterally forever and they pretty support that claim on their website. I am very lucky to have quality pizza this close to me in the middle of my own neighborhood. I've tried their chicken tenders and a grinder somewhat recently as well and both were very good. They've done a great job this time and the last few times I've had their food so I'll glady update my review as they deserve a better reputation. read more

My wife and I are in town for the weekend and wanted to do something quick and easy without leaving the hotel room. We tossed around a few ideas and settled upon pizza. Then came the choice of where to order from. We picked Leo's for the obvious choice - the high Yelp rating. Also, we thought their pizza looked pretty good in other people's pictures. So, I rang their number, and it came up busy. I waited 2 minutes and tried again. I got through to someone but was immediately put on hold. As they took my order, I got the impression they couldn't hear me very well. I had to give my order twice (I almost ended up with buffalo chicken pizza instead of pepperoni), had to give my hotel address twice, and had to specify cash twice. They quoted me 45 minutes for delivery but took around an hour. Not a deal breaker for me, I'm used to that from pizza places back home, but I still had to knock a star off for that. A hungry person shouldn't be kept waiting any longer than they're quoted, for their order. Upon receiving the pizza, I take it over to the table and comment on how it smells like Chinese food. My wife agreed but said it could have just been the box. That was probably accurate. The pizza looked incredible. It was full of pepperoni. The proportions were spot on. It tasted fantastic. The cheese had a great taste, and I could have done a plain cheese pizza and been satisfied, though I love my pepperoni. The pepperoni they use here has an interesting flavor to it, almost like a breakfast sausage taste to it. It was very good. If we find ourselves in the area again, I know where we will be ordering from again. read more

Love the zesty tomato sauce that put on their pizza's. They put a good amount of cheese which gets browned and melted perfectly in their ovens. California but my wife is from Wethersfield and we have always eaten at or taken pizzas from Leo's on every visit multiple times a year. Went here tonight at the recommendation of my sister. I'm typically a village pizza guy in Wethersfield and this was an excellent change. Nice little place that had a steady stream of customers walking in and out, not crazy busy but a go in grab your food and leave kinda spot. I just got a small sausage and peppers. Peppers were very fresh and cooked on the pizza to still have a little crunch which I loved. Nice big chunks of sausage that was also very flavorful! The cheese compared to village was a little saltier and honestly this was my favorite part of the pie. It brought it all together just o' so well! The crust compared to village was slightly crisper especially in terms of the ends. This was fantastic, some of the best I've had on a slightly thicker pie, and i feel like a bit of a pizza trader to village for even writing this... (I still love you too village, I apologize for this pizza review treason!). I'd recommend this spot for sure and this is actually more like a 4.5. I'll be back for sure, but next time want to try one of their more aggressive specialty pies that I didn't have the courage to muster being a first timer. Here i come buffalo chicken! Best "local" pizza shop in Wethersfield. We started frequenting Leo's on the advice of another resident 3 decades ago. Boy, were they right. Their pizza is superb. Great, hearty crust, flavorful sauce and too many toppings to mention. We usually order the same type of pizza because it's not too greasy yet still flavorful. When someone suggests another shop that was great 30+ years ago, we always get them to agree to order from Leo's. When their delivery is estimated at 1 hour or more, we aren't always patient or forgiving with rare kitchen mistakes (caused by unfamiliar staff) or delivery delays. So, on those days, we order early to beat the rush and heat up the pizza when we're ready. It doesn't lose flavor or get too crunchy. Works every time! Even their grinders, like the Vegie cheese, are yummy. While they may not compete in size to Richard Lavoie's Hartford's Giant Grinders on Franklin Ave from years ago, they are still good. My only caveat: We always call the shop directly to order so they get all of the money from our food order. I don't want any dollars going to a delivery service when Leo's is the artisan. This place is literally walking distance to us but we haven't ordered their food in a decade up until recently. The pizza is still not very good. The margarita "gourmet" pizza looks, tastes and feels like a frozen pizza without exaggeration. However, the tossed salad is excellent as is the broccoli, cheese and bacon potato skins my wife is consuming at this moment. The meatball sub I ordered last week was also excellent. The other family pizza house in Old Wethersfield that I have written a review on is a lot better than this place honestly. Ordered a large pepperoni on a Tuesday night. Told me it would be an HOUR! Then the pizza comes 2 HOURS later! We open the box up and it's cut criss-cross. My family is Italian and from the coast, used to traditional pizza... we were confused (and almost insulted! haha) why the hell it was cut like that.... The crust was cardboard, and the pizza tasted like a bad frozen pizza. The cheese was overcooked. The edges were stale, and the center of the pizza had a ton of sauce (way more than on the edges). As I grabbed a piece from the center, sauce spilled out from every which way. The pepperoni was rubbery, and the pizza was overall bad. As you're eating it, the cheese separates from the crust as if it is separate... like it had been left out overnight, leaving it hardened and inedible. I did not expect this from a family owned pizzeria. Absolutely horrible. I recommend going somewhere else that serves traditional pizza, not frozen sub-par pizza. You would be better off getting a frozen one at the supermarket. read more
