I love the hamburger, bacon and onion or pepperoni, but the plain cheese is also the best! It's Greek style, square slices, so if you're looking for a Neapolitan style, this isn't it. Moved here from Florida where it was impossible to find a good pizza! We tried a few places near us in Cromwell but we weren't really happy. Then, we got invited to a friend's house and they had ordered from West Side! Well, we have been taking the short ride to Rocky Hill at least once a week! I have been getting pizza from here for the past 4 years. It's absolutely the best (Greek) pizza I've ever had! Yes, who doesn't love New Haven style pizza? This place is the whole package. I always order a small cheese pie and when I pick it up, I ask if they put extra anchovies on it?!?! It's been a running joke ever since I started getting my pizza from them! The crust is thick, crunchy and buttery tasting! The cheese is like it was torched slightly, love the crispness of it without it tasting burnt. The sauce is sweet and light, very tasty! I guess the other great thing about West Side Pizza is the owners and staff. They are gems. Always friendly and polite, kid around like you're family. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! One of the last places I visited before all the restaurants shut down for dine-in. Comfortable food in a comfortable environment. Our server loved to talk and I loved it. Very sanitary with that hand sanitzed as well. Haha. Had a half pepperoni and half sausage pizza with some french fries. The fries were fries, just as I would expect and the pizza was cheesey and greasy in a good way. I did not feel skimped out on meat or anything really. The food took a little longer than usual but I'll let it slide because it was still really good. Nothing too crazy really it was just a basic and comfortable pizza. Comfort is a great thing, no matter how long you wait or the price you pay, you know what you're getting and that's really all I could say about this place. So yes, it's that decent pizza restaurant in the neighborhood, one of those and I love these type of restaurants. It's like the definition of a small local business. Threw it in the trash. No resolution offered other than to drive back 30 minutes from stafford and have it remade. In today's high priced world, $18 for a sub made the wrong way is honestly infuriating. I was careful to instruct it NOT be cooked. Also, open the dang bathroom to patrons. This world is so annoying. This place is a classic pizza staple to those of whom lived in the area (or grew up like myself). People get pizza from here because they do the classic, Greek style, thick squared pizza. In terms of layering - every layer is perfect: from the sturdy crisp bottom, the soft and warm middle dough, the right amount of sauce, the more than normal amount of cheese, and then the extra crunch crust. The pizza may be a bit oily to some, but nothing a few napkins can't dab away. Corner pieces are always fought for. We usually get extra pepperoni / extra crispy or the sausage pie This place had been around for a while. Nothings changed since when I had this 20 years ago which is a good thing. Now that I moved, when I visit my folks I try to at least get my fix and order takeout. The staff are great people and run by a family. If you live within takeout order distance - once you try this don't be surprised if you have their pizza on at least a biweekly basis. read more

Great local pizza place! They serve up a Greek style pizza here. Greek style lately has become one of my favorites. Might be because of the crust! We were looking for a new restaurant in a town nearby, and thanks to Yelp we ended up here. We live close enough to here where we could actually order take out, which I have a feeling we will end up doing. :) The decor isn't very much up to date, but I personally think that adds to the charm of the place. Our waitress was so sweet and down to earth. We kept it pretty simple for our dinner. We ordered an appetizer of a half order of garlic bread with cheese, and for dinner we split a medium pepperoni pizza. YUM! Garlic bread was good, and a perfect blend of cheese and spice. The pizza was just phenomenal. Good amount of pepperoni, and the pepperoni was a decent size too! The crust was cooked perfectly. When I reheated the leftovers, it tasted the same as if I was there at the restaurant! I just put it in the oven at 350 for 8 minutes, and it was the perfect small lunch. West side pizza offers a great Greek style thick crust pizza. If you like a lot of toppings west side is the place. We ordered the special pizza and I've never seen so many toppings. The only downside the bottom of the crust was a tad soggy, but I think that's just from the amount of toppings. West side has that old school everyone knows your name kind of vibe.
