Best pizza in New Britain! The quality of the food never disappoints! Highly recommend this place. Our 'go to' pizza house.

(I rate on a curve, so I don't compare a pizza place to a fancy Italian restaurant on the same scale.) We've been going to Marathon for almost 40 years, and throughout that time the qualify has remained consistently high. This is old style, medium crust pizza. I guess you'd call it Greek style, which is the most common in this area. If you are looking for some cutting edge pie with unusual toppings this isn't your place. But if you want a solid pepperoni and mushroom, it is. read more

I always order here but today I'm writing because why the hell were they so rude. The main guy was the cashier, I told him my order number but it didn't matter anyways because he asked me what I ordered then at the end of our interaction he shoved my card back to me aggressively. Rude as hell read more

Great pizza great grinders been coming here for years. would recommend to everyone my favorite pizza here is the special amazing. read more

Marathon Pizza House - Marathon special delicious. - Pizza Near Me - New Britain, Connecticut

Sauce was a little too acidic for my taste but the cheese pizza smelled and looked delicious! Service was just takeout on this order but friendly. Fair prices. read more

Never disappointed ordering anything from marathon. There's a pizza place right at the bottom of my street which I don't bother going to knowing I can get exactly what I want at marathon and it'll be fabulous!! read more

If you enjoy a Greek style pizza, this place is for you. Pretty quick service but not overly friendly. Ambiance badly needs renovation. Would recommend pizza take out only. The dough is perfectly balanced and cooked just right with plenty of toppings. read more

Honestly, if you are in New Britain and you're not getting pizza from Marathon, are you really getting pizza? I come here whenever I'm in town, and it was my grandmothers favorite place for pizza. Large onion pizza every time. You just can't get this kind of pizza anywhere else. I've tried. I also tried a few bites of their grinders, because my cousin got an eggplant parm grinder and I was curious. It was amazing. Service is friendly on the inside and there's enough parking on the outside to get in, grab your grub, and get out. read more

On West Main over the Plainville line . Classic , old school decor . quick service . I love the vegetable pizza . A good mix of veges and cheese . The crust supports the weight . A great value and a great taste . read more

Great place for pizza. Always consistent, good prices, great service. Will order from again.

I loveeee marathon always have!!! Best pizza around! Greek owned family oriented! Will always come back!

I have been going there since they opened. When I moved out of state nothing compares to Marathon. We go there every time we come home to New Britain to visit. If I could get it delivered out of state I would be a happy camper. read more

This is a small family pizza restaurant. "Hole in the wall" so while it may not have the best dining ambiance, the food is great. They make an amazing pizza, Greek style crust with an amazing somewhat sweet sauce. Good food and good price! read more

I went there with my wife before watching a movie, we had a calzone and it was simply delicious! The staff was super friendly and it was simply a perfect addition to a perfect date on a snowy night. read more

Great prices best pizza and grinders ever!! Grinders hot cheesy pizza crispy crust real sausage fresh vegetables real cheese read more

Is there a minimum length review for just really really really great perfectly made Greek style pizza? NOT getting into the pizza wars and recognizing each variety has its merits this pizza tastes like it was crafted by a skilled yeoman dedicated to craftsmanship and who's craft just so happens to be making perfect golden crusted slightly bitter sauced perfect pizza. Get a small cheese and a small house special and put on tropicthunder or whatever your favorite movie happens to be, and really just get in there. read more

Nobody could say anything bad about this place. Family run and owned since the 70's, and YES it still has the 70's cheesy wood panneling. Oh, use the creepy turn around towel dispensor at your own risk in the bathroom lol. I seriously have been eating here since a child and remember playing the Mrs. Pacman game since, and will take my kids here too, god willing it is still around by then. The BEST Greek pizza around. I live in Bristol and every once in a while find my self traveling all the way to New Britain just for some of thier signature pizza. The cheese is just unreal here! You could tell that they care about what they do and never skimp on the ingrediants. I recomend the eggplant grider too. If you are contemplating eating here DON'T, this place is a legend in it's own right, and you must experiance it if you have the chance. read more

I live in NYC and I wait to come back to New Britain to have this pizza. Its simply the best pizza in Central CT. Perfectly cooked every time. Perfect sauce. Perfectly seasoned. This small local place needs to be best pizza lists. Not exaggerating. All the locals love it too. Do not believe the negative reviews. I don't eat here based on the décor which is the original from the 60s or 70s. Its Greek style. If that's not for you, ok. Sauce has flavor and pizza. Cheese is fresh and delicious. The pizzas are cooked well-done. Family run. Great family. The BEST! read more

I have never had better pizza than Marathon anywhere. Their special can't be beat. Seriously.

I love this place and it's pizza is amazing!! It's number #1 From me. The place is great to stay and eat. However, the chicken sandwich is my fave and I buy it every time I have the chance... but I slowly go back buying the pizza. Please!!! Check your CHICKEN!! It's hard to bite! And sometimes it's not cooked right! :'3 fix plz. read more

Friendly service, best pizza in new Britain/Plainville area! Always hot and ready on time

Excellent pizza! Best in New Britain. Always consistent. Also try the meatball grinder.

[Before reading this, keep in mind it has been a good 3 years since I have eaten here, so its theoretically possible this place has changed since then....but I doubt it...] When we moved to NB 5 years ago, my ex loved this place. Just another case of the two of us not seeing eye to eye. This little pizza joint, originally next door to an adult book store, then an auto parts store, has only 3 parking spaces. Once inside, a typical pizza dive awaits you (cheezy dated booth seating, old soda machine, old video game). The guy behind the counter (who I guessed was the manager) looked like an extra from Saturday Night Fever, with the shirt unbutton half way down his hairy chest, a tacky gold necklace, and sunglasses (so bright he needed sunglasses indoors I suppose). On my first trip I whipped out my credit card to find out the cc machine was "broken". On future trips, the machine was "broken" and finally they simply stated they only take cash and stopped making excuses for the poor machine. The pizza was as greasy as his hair and as original as dirt. Just boring, greasy, pizza. Finally we stopped eating there and settled for other places in the area, but Marathon was clearly a place to avoid. read more

Best pizza in New Britain if not Central Connecticut. Cooked in a huge oven. We've been getting their pizza for 10+ years with the same order: bacon, sausage, pepperoni (well done). This is the real deal. Please don't bring up Pizza Hut or Dominoes in front of me. A+++ read more

I grew up eating Marthon's and I swear it's the best pizza in central CT. I've lived in New York for over a decade and whenever I'm back in New Britain, it's a given that I'm stopping by Marathon's & grabbing a pie. read more

Love this place. Hole in the wall in New Britain. Their calzones are HUGE! I always go in and order and play Ms. PAC-man which is still a quarter to play! Their grinders are great too. read more

It's typical Central CT Greek pizza... Some people like it and if you do you will love their pizza. I prefer thin crust Italian style pizza so find their pizzas greasy, their toppings boring, and the mushrooms taste like can mushrooms. The pizza have way to much cheese for my taste but then again if you like Greek pizza you won't be disappointed here. read more

This place is great. As authentic as a little pizza parlor can be. Just stopping in there, you know you're getting the real thing. And you could definitely tell it is a family-run business. They were very friendly and funny dudes, with what was probably they're father or grandfather at the cash register. Places like this make me feel warm and fuzzy. We kept it simple and got a large cheese pie and it was absolutely delicious. Nothing better than authentic, family-owned businesses. I will always support little gems like this! Definitely hit up Marathon if you're in the area! read more

We live a few towns away, but come in at least once a month for their cheese pizza. It is not the traditional New York/New Haven Styles which is a nice change from the majority of places around here. If you want a different style of pizza, this is the place to go. read more

Pizza is pretty average. Had sausage with red peppers. You can tell the sausage was quality meat and was seasoned well. The sauce and crust just didn't have any flavor. For the price though it's not bad, it's just nothing special. read more

Great service, very nice staff. Perfect for a quick bite. Get the grinders instead of the pizza! :)

A coworker of mine told me this pIace has good pizza so I thought I would give it a try. The inside decor of the restaurant is dated like Maximus Z said with wood grain walls and tables and orange countertops. I ordered a small cheese pizza, the pizza is greek style with lots of cheese, the dough was thin and flat, the sauce tasted like a jar sauce that i've had in the past and the crust was dry and tasteless. The pizza here is nothing special and I probably won't be returning. read more

It's best pizza in the area. Was raised on this pizza and now that I moved out of NB I drive through 2 towns to pick up a pizza. 35 year customer. Good stuff. read more

Be aware...this is Greek pizza. Pan pizza. Great if you like that sort of thing but nothing like real pizza and CT has some of the best real pizza in the world. read more

While the other review of this place is very true right down to the owner Mr. Sat night fever...I have to disagree and say the pizza is yummy! We only get take out, and one of the three parking spots is always free! Just make sure you aren't too early....Mr. Sat night does not like to take those pizzas out of the oven before they are DONE and he glares at you as you wait!! I've never had a credit card machine issue, so they must have fixed that. I don't recommend the grinders...just pizza! read more

The best PIZZA IN NEW BRITAIN HANDS DOWN! It smells like a pizza place should smell like.. the pizza is truly amazing I'M IN LOVE W.IT... everyone is very nice. If I can double the stars I would!! 10 STARS!!! read more

Really good Greek pizza. I tend to get a half special and half pepperoni pie and I find myself really enjoying both. The pizza is a tad pricey and the atmoshpere is so-so but if you're like me and enjoy all sorts of pizza you'll enjoy this Greek pie. read more

Love it must try best pizza in new Britain !!! People working there are very friendly!!!!! I recommend it

I have been getting pizza from Marathon Pizza since they opened. I have moved around the area, but still buy their pizza as often as I can. The ingredients they use are top notch and the owners and staff are friendly. Love this pizza!!!!! read more

My favorite place to get a Hot Roast Beef Grinder. The Pizza is better than anything you can get delivered. Good Calozones and yes the Mrs Pac-Man game I also play while I wait. Yes it may have a feeling that they havent redecorated in 25 years, but who cares. As long as the food is good and Mrs Pacman still works, this will be my favorate pizza place. read more
