The worst service in the city. I have never dealt with such rude and arrogant waiters/managers. When we arrived, we were in an amazing mood! Jolly and making jokes! I went with my Italian friends and there was no one at the host reception. We waited until the manager came and apologized. Once we got seated we asked about the soup of the day and the manager said something in Italian with a very bad accent. When my Italian friend asked for a re-pronunciation she asked my friend if she thinks she is funny. She then went into the open kitchen and told the incident to the pizza maker and a herd of waiters, pointing at our table and laughing. Then our waiter arrived. He asked what dressing my friend (wearing a tank top) wanted. My other friend said "preferably one that covers her arms". Which was a bit of a weird joke but never the less funny. The waiter said "I am glad you find yourself funny." And left, without responding after we said thank you. Used to be one of the best restaurants in Providence. They have a brick oven and by far the best bread. Shame that the management has gotten so bad. read more

This place seems to be a hidden gem for delicious Italian food. The service here is almost as amazing as the food. Everyone that works here is so kind and it's clear to me that they really enjoy their jobs. Managers will often check in after your meal to make sure you enjoyed your time which I think is really nice. I've been here maybe 4 times and I've yet to be disappointed. Beautiful atmosphere yet food, eh. Salad 14$ probably 20 pieces of greens and sliced cheese, tomatoes loôked like they had been sitting for quite sometime with white in the middle. Not native at all. Ordered the pizza, soggy and not hot in the middle dough wasn't cooked. The man who was making the pizza was spinning it in the air, real cool, yet not so cool, no gloves bare handed. Bravo! Oh my gosh, I can't believe I found an Italian restaurant that serves pasta without a ton of herbs, green peppers,red peppers, thick tomatoes, olives etc smothered in their sauce! Hmmm now is the point you may be saying "What? How is that a bad thing?" Well it's not a bad thing if you like Americanized pasta dishes... and there are 10 places on Federal Hill which would be more than happy to accommodate you (and charge you and arm and a leg) but if you enjoy actual food in Italy, which consists of a more basic yet delicious sauce served with pasta prepared al dente style.... well this is the place for you. They serve bread which is freshly prepared and while I didn't try the pizza this time, it looked to be a thin crust from a brick oven and smelled delicious. I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants in this state and Pasta Beach's pasta absolutely resembles what you'd find at a little restaurant in Italy. Another nice feature is you won't break the bank eating here. Prices aren't cheap but they're not expensive either. Plus the portions are large so plan to have a to go box. The music upon entering the restaurant may catch you off guard, and for someone that hasn't been to Europe may not understand why there is techno/disco music playing (especially in the east side lol) in the background, but that just goes to show you just how European this place is. Bottom line, save a few bucks and give this place a try to eat REAL Italian.... If you don't like it, you can always drop a few hundred on the hill the following weekend. Salute! read more

My husband and I went on a Saturday night and were seated upstairs. I would say that ambiance downstairs is much nicer than the upstairs. We started out with the eggplant parmigiana. It was very good. However, it is advertised with pesto. There was a small smear on the side of the plate. My husband and I shared a margherita pizza and the tagliatelle with prosciutto and asparagus. This restaurant uses high quality ingredients. I wish the pizza would have been cooked a little more. They did not skimp on the prosciutto! Also, the pasta dish was very small for the price. Our waitress was not very attentive. I would consider going again, but there are other Italian restaurants in Providence that have better service and better execution on their dishes at the same or better price point. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. Went for lunch today and it was just bad. Not mediocre but bad. First off plastic plants line the bar. Plastic? Really? So tacky. My friend had the gnocchi bolognese ; we both concurred that the sauce tasted like hot wiener meat sauce. The gnocchi had a terrible texture . I had the white bean and bacon soup which was utterly bland. We both were going to order pasta with clams until I asked where the clams were from and was told they were from the Mediterranean . Whoa , you're in RI with access to the best clams evah and you're importing clams?importing clams in a can I suspect.And to add insult the prices are ludicrous ! Maybe if the pasta was homemade ...I used to be a sous chef at an Italian restaurant that was written up in the NY Times , Vogue, and Fodors so I know of what I speak.if you want really great Italian food I suggest Pat's in Johnston. Sure it has a tacky decor but it also has homemade pasta and wonderful"gravy" and is reasonably priced. This place thinks it's slick but I can't imagine anyone going there more than once. I had a business meeting just before lunchtime and we decided to get a bite afterward. We got in about 1pm on a Wednesday. There were only two other parties at the place that day. Aesthetically, the décor is smart, bright, and contemporary. Something like a nouveau diner. The staff were friendly and efficient. The menu offered a reasonable variety of northern Italian fare. Nice crusty bread with EVO on the table. We both opted for the same special - Pappardelle with Porcini Mushrooms ($18). For lunch, $18 is pretty steep for a dish with only 3 ingredients. The portion (probably 2 oz. of dry pasta before cooking) was right on the edge of being an appetizer or side order size. However, this was as close to perfect a plate of pasta as I've had. The noodles themselves were spot-on al dente. The mushrooms were succulent, plump, and had just enough tooth for texture. The buttery sauce was subtle and light. In short, all of the ingredients were of the highest quality and were prepared with a nuance that coaxed a lovely depth of flavors from the simple dish. This is the kind of thing that's harder to do than one would think. This is not the place to come if you are looking to spend $12-$15 on a heavy red sauce number and come home with a doggie bag that provides several additional (usually mediocre) meals. There are other places in the city for that sort of thing. After my lunch, I was left wanting more. That's a good thing. No food coma. If I'm honest with myself, this is the size portion I should be eating. If you eat in fine restaurants throughout Italy you'll see that Pasta Beach's portions fall right in line. This will not be my everyday place. But for special occasions or when I want to treat myself better than I deserve, Pasta Beach fits the bill. read more

Average pasta place. Husband had the lasagna which was a good sized portion and good. The best meal was my mushroom pasta. It was creamy,garlicky and full of mushrooms. My entire family kept helping themselves as it was the favorite dish on the table. Otherwise, the food was average. Myself and 5 friends attended Pasta Beach last night 10/20/16 at 6:30 pm and our experience was solidly not great. They sat us at a table for 5 in a very crowded spot and I was bumped by the waitstaff trying to get by for the ENTIRE time we were there. I had made the reservation a week prior so you would think they would have enough time to set up a proper table. It was really so annoying. Our waiter was very condescending, asking us if we needed help pronouncing the foreign words on the menu!! We did not say a word to him about it, but afterwards we just sort of looked at each other like what?? The food was very blah- I mean in a city like Providence the Italian food really needs to shine. Not one of my friends enjoyed their food- the bolognese was dry and there was hardly any sauce on the pasta, my friend's dish was so spicy she could hardly eat it, and they brought a bruschetta out for 5 people on a tiny plate totally uncut. There is no way we could cut it or it would have gone all over the place, so we asked them to have it cut for us. And then they returned it cut into 2 huge pieces! LOL. Thanks for that! They never refilled our water once, for 2 hours. I will say the martini's were very good as was the eggplant appetizer. But we will not go back, there are way too many amazing restaurants in Providence to put up with such mediocrity. read more

This fabulous restaurant just celebrated their one year anniversary and continues to be our favorite place to get the most authentic Italian food in RI. Pasta Beach has been a perfect addition to Wayland Square which is so apparent when you walk into a wonderful dining scene as you do in Italy! The beautiful windows open out front with great lighting and the decor always make for a fun dining experience. The servers, hostesses, pizza chefs, chefs and very accommodating manager, Nancy, are like family to us. My husband and I enjoy the high top tables near the bar area when we are with friends or family but really like to sit at the bar with the best bartender "DJ" who is so friendly and welcoming to everyone he greets! I've tried too many dishes to mention but my favorites are the grilled salmon veggie plate or (salmon can be ordered on top of any one of the amazing salads), the eggplant appetizer (which is the size of an entree), homemade soups, gnocchi margherita, and of course the pizza! The portions are large and can be shared easily to try more of the delicious pasta options. I highly recommend trying Pasta Beach which is also opened for lunch and also has a private upstairs room which can be a great place for parties, book clubs, or business dinners. read more
