It's a small shop without seating inside but there's a bench nearby and it's close to the seawall. The staff is always nice and welcoming. All gelato is made in store. So far, I have visited twice with a friend each time and I've had fresh mango, lemon, and pistachio. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the mango - it literally tastes like you're eating one. My baseline gelato is the pistachio, and this one had the right color of earthy, dull green, with the perfect sweetness and nuttiness without being overwhelming. I've been here a few times and this time I got a fresh mango gelato and wow was it a fresh! It tasted like I was straight up eating a mango. There was no hint of artificial flavouring. Very fresh and rich. Service was great. They wrap your scoop around the cone so you aren't afraid of it tipping over! We were allowed to sample. You can also request to split a single scoop to have two flavors. We enjoyed the yuzu, hojicha, matcha, black sesame, tiramisu, salted caramel, london fog, and pistachio. We walked in a Sunday night after dining at Honey and Salt and were left very impressed with the Gelato. We had the Grandma's Tiramisu which was absolutely spectacular! There are so many amazing flavours to choose from and they all sounded super delicious. I had a scoop of black sesame and a scoop of BC blueberries. The black sesame was very rich and tasted like a frozen tangyuan. It wasn't overly sweet or overly creamy like black sesame ice cream often is. The BC blueberry tasted really good as well, like a frozen blueberry. The owner was very kind. He was very helpful and generous. Visited on a weekend to claim an Elite perk and decided on the ceylon tea coffee flavour since it looked intriguing (and my boyfriend already ordered the chocolate cherry). I expected the coffee to overpower the tea flavour but surprisingly, both flavours were perfectly balanced! The chocolate cherry was delicious too and balanced both the dark chocolate and tart cherry flavours. One gripe I have would be that the chocolate ice cream melted extremely fast, even for my boyfriend who is already a very fast eater. The waffle cones were also a bit bland for my liking. I can say that both did not disappoint! Mango: The texture was very smooth and elastic-y. Strong and fresh mango taste and was very refreshing. It was not overly sweet nor artificially tasting. I really did enjoy the texture of this one! Akbar Mashti: I gotta say, I always try flavours that I don't really know. Without googling what this was, I decided to try this! In the first bite, there was a strong rose taste, along with some sort of spice, to the gelato. There were also pistachio bits within as well. The texture was smooth and taste was light. Both my friend and I also really enjoyed this one. Upon googling, we realized that Akbar Mashti contains saffron, which was the spice that we had tasted. It is always interesting to try new things without knowing what is in it beforehand to give yourself some surprise! One scoop was $6.50, but the workers there fill the cup to the max and more. I think it was definitely worth it considering the quality of the gelato we received. I definitely will be back to try some of their other flavours! I wasn't sure what to pick at first, but the owner Salvatore was super generous giving me 2 scoops. I got Hojicha and Tiramisu flavour these two were good. If I had to pick one of the two Hojicha was pretty refreshing. Tiramisu was also good. Loved the sticky gooey texture of the Gelato. Black sesame must be a popular flavour as Sal told me it was sold out. I think my coworker bought a vegan pistachio gelato here since the pint container looked familiar. The staff were friendly and the young lady who served me took the time and effort to explain the different ice cream flavours. I liked that they had a good representation of flavours including vegan options. It was hard decision but as it's summer I selected the fresh mango and my friend had the BC blueberry. My mango gelato is vegan but the texture was so creamy and smooth that I couldn't believe it had no dairy in it. Simply refreshing and not too sweet. My friend loved her BC Blueberry. Will definitely come back to try the chocolate sea salt and grandma's tiramisu as my friend said those flavours were delicious. But I think the white sesame was actually my favorite - it tastes very natural and reminds me of childhood. Both flavors were not overly sweet but sesame was the slightly sweeter one while hojicha was more of a light sweet flavor. Docked stars because of (1) the no sample policy - would have loved to try some of the other flavors before committing even though I liked both flavors I ended up getting and (2) I noticed the gelato was melting really quickly and it also came softer than the other gelato I had in Vancouver.
