Stayed three quick days at the JW Marriott for a conference, and when I spotted this gelato shop on the map, I sent a little prayer to the gelato gods for something truly authentic. And wow, Passions Gelato delivered! It's rare to find gelato this good outside of Italy, so you better believe I came back every single day of my trip. Do yourself a favor and get the salted caramel or stracciatella--you can thank me later.

i got a coupon from bclc after tossing bean bags into a hole and correctly answering a skill testing question (the things we do for dessert). and the prize is two scoops of gelato from passione gelato, and it was set to expire the next day, so off we went. located at 55 smithe street, next to the douglas hotel and directly across from the public art piece "slow", the shiny, stainless steel statue of a momma and her baby panda bear in the roundabout. my spouse drove and patiently waited in the car while i dashed in. there were people enjoying their gelatos outside, but there was no line up at 7:00 pm on a sunday. with the weight of having to decide for the two of us, i quickly scanned the menu board, sampled, and settled on two single scoops in a cup, to go: illy espresso and black sesame. the espresso was bold and smooth, rich without being bitter. the black sesame was nutty, subtly sweet, and deeply comforting. both flavours were clean and intense, no artificial aftertaste, just pure flavour wrapped in a silky, almost elastic texture. fun fact: gelato isn't just the italian word for ice cream. it's churned slower (introducing less air), made with more milk than cream, and served slightly warmer, which gives it that signature dense, creamy texture and amplified flavour. passione's gelato is made fresh, in house, by a gelato master trained in italy. definitely worth the bean bag toss and the detour, thanks bclc. the answer is 100%, 100% of all the money goes back to helping bc communities.

The best gelato in the city. And we have a lot of good ones! I think the texture and consistency of this gelato is unmatched. The gelato has got the textbook elasticity while still maintaining creaminess. The flavors are also so genuine and fresh, especially the fruit flavors. My baseline gelato is the pistachio, and this one had the right color of earthy, dull green, with the perfect sweetness and nuttiness without being overwhelming. It's a bit hard to find at first and definitely a very small shop, but it's in a good central location. It's my invariable guilty pleasure after a night of watching the VSO!

I have visited this place several times, and this time, I wanted to try the special menu for the Nomsmag Ice Cream Festival. They offer two kinds of limited special menu items, and I chose Gorgonzola Pear Walnut The smooth blend of Gorgonzola, sweet pears, and crunchy walnuts in our gelato. This unique mix offers a delightful and refreshing taste experience. The Gorgonzola flavor was not too strong, which is good for a wide range of customers. Personally, I wouldn't mind if the cheese flavor were stronger, but I understand that some customers might not tolerate it. The ice cream had a lot of walnuts, and the sweet pear added a nice accent to the flavor. I visited this place for the hot chocolate festival and to try their various unique ice cream and gelato flavors, including some Asian flavors. The location and business hours are convenient. I will visit this place again for after-dinner dessert.

Love this gelato, and I think it is the best in the city! They have a good selection of flavours, with vegan options as well! My favourite is the pistachio. I always order a single scoop with two flavours The store is really just a service counter, but plenty of seating outside.

We came here after dinner for my partner and Is 10 year anniversary. We were craving more dessert and waiting for an uber and it so happened this place was opened late! And thank goodness it was because it's become a very special memory for me, and it was a great treat! The workers were very kind and quick with our order. They had a few seats outside the shop. They had an array of flavors it's hard to choose from, they do offer sampling, though!

Saw the high Yelp reviews and had to come here! Passione Gelato is a small shop, with no space indoors for eating. Luckily we came on a warm night, so we could sit outside on the planters and enjoy our gelato. Choosing a flavor was difficult because so many of them sounded delicious. I got black sesame and my husband amarena cherry and we were both very happy with our selections. I've never had black sesame gelato and really enjoyed the rich creamy flavor. I regret not having come back here once more before the end of our Vancouver trip. Friendly service too!

I've been here a few times and this time I got a fresh mango gelato and wow was it a fresh! It tasted like I was straight up eating a mango. There was no hint of artificial flavouring. Very fresh and rich. Service was great. They wrap your scoop around the cone so you aren't afraid of it tipping over! The shop is very small but there are many seating areas outside (not associated with the shop) to sit and enjoy your ice cream. In the colder months, you can go to the hotel next door to enjoy it lol.

We were dining nearby and decided to make a stop here on our way back home. The gelato quality was excellent. This is what I expect from a gelato shop - a silky, and smooth textured gelato. We ordered the matcha and tiramisu flavours for $9. It was a bit pricey, but I think this is comparable to other Vancouver options. I noticed a number of Asian inspired flavours that would appeal to many people. Service was fast. There is no seating area in the store. We sat outside to enjoy the delicious gelato before it all melted in the heat. This is a nice treat if you are in the area.

Omg, their flavors blew me away. Can absolutely see why they got 1st place at the Gelato World Tour. The London fog was so aromatic and yummy. And I no idea how they were able to perfectly encapsulate the essence of tiramisu in their tiramisu gelato. Seriously if I was blindfolded and you told me this was the best tiramisu from Italy I would totally believe it.

This place has great options for gelato, there were options for vegan as well. I had the grandma's tiramisu which was delicious. However, the place had no seating inside the shop which is a bummer during winters. There are a few seating options outside the shop though. The service was smooth and prompt, there wasn't much crowd.

GREAT gelato. Just get the medium size for an nominal cost more than the small. I recommend the salted chocolate with the other chocolate one that is dairy. Both were delicious! The only word of warning is that a new employee there gives you less than one who is not new. I know because the second visit with the non-dairy chocolate and vanilla resulted in much less gelato.

I ordered the Original Peak, with a twist of vanilla and dark chocolate with cereal at the bottom. The first thing that stood out was the airy and fluffy texture, almost lighter than traditional soft serve. The dark chocolate brought a mild cocoa note, while the cereal added a crunchy, slightly nostalgic contrast at the base. That said, I expected the vanilla to have more of a rich, milky flavor. This is not the place for plain vanilla; it's the combinations (think honeycomb, matcha, or seasonal specials) that bring the experience to life. Based on the shop's concept, Soft Peaks is known for using local organic milk and keeping sweetness restrained, which tracks with that lighter, less sugary profile. Adding something like cereal or crunchy toppings makes a big difference. If you're a vanilla purist looking for a strong dairy note, this might feel a bit subtle.
