The best ice cream on the Westside. If our freezer ever gets down to two or less jars there is a near panic at home. The texture of their ice cream is amazing it is so creamy. Now that I've had ice cream from La Glace it's almost impossible to buy ice cream from a regular grocery store because it all tastes bad now. Check their Instagram before you head over and they always post the daily scoop menu and take away menu. It changes quite a bit according to the season so you never get bored! Vegan options also ! The shop is super cute and great Covid measures in place with only one family at a time allowed in the shop. I'm also glad it is far away or else my bank account would be suffering from my daily desire for their ice cream! It was simply some of the best and creamiest ice cream I've had! I was so excited to have finally tried La Glace. The interior was very cute and warm. I've been wanting to try their ube flavour but it wasn't available when I went, so I decided to have their matcha noir instead. The ice cream is made with green tea and black sesame. The flavour had a subtle earthy taste with crunchy roasted nutty notes. However, I found the black sesame quite salty and overpowered the matcha flavour. Overall, I really enjoyed the ice cream and found it very creamy and cute! The mini meriginue was fluffy and also added a nice finishing touch. I had the saffron and pistachio and chocolate passionfruit served in a beautiful glass cup. Yes, they offer samples before you buy. There are vegan options but the coco pandan I wanted was sold out. Besides ice cream, they also offer coffee and pastries. Limited seating but we managed to get a spot by the window. A few parking spaces in front of the shop but would rather park on the streets as sitting by the window we saw some people struggling to get out of the small parking lot. The ice cream was smooth, creamy and just the right amount of sweetness, without being too heavy. The price was on par with other ice cream places, scoop was quite generous. Service is stellar. This past Sunday, we decided to get some ice cream for dessert (and to cool off). It was the first time trying La Glace Ice Cream for (most of) us. With safety precautions in place, they only allowed one group in at a time. No seating inside, just two tables outside with some chairs and benches. I chose the Peach Rose Champagne Sorbet and Coconut Pandan (Vegan). Other flavours our friends chose was the Matcha and a coffee-flavoured one (can't remember the name). All the ice cream is put in a cup, but you can add a waffle cone, which they put on top.. along with a complimentary meringue if you like. All the flavours were delicious! The Peach Rose Champagne Sorbet and Coconut Pandan were both very simple yet refreshing flavours. What stood out the most was the coffee-flavoured one! It had a strong coffee flavour, which I loved (cause I love coffee! Fiance.. not so much). I debated grabbing some pints to take home, but with the hot weather and the ride home back to Burnaby, didn't want to risk it melting.. oh well! Why does this place not have a ton of reviews yet?! I've been here on numerous occasions and have always left happy and satisfied. Not only are their scoops beautiful and very Instagrammable, but they taste amazing! You can really taste the quality in each bite. All their flavours are done so well. They are super creamy, rich with flavour, and they have some very unique combinations. My favourites are the Bananas Foster, Chocolate Passionfruit, and Ganache. I find that their portions are quite generous, whether it be in a cup or cone. I also love the concept of using the leftover egg whites from making the ice cream and repurposing them for toppings, such as meringues or marshmallows. For dessert, I'd recommend sharing a 1 scoop and it may just be enough! They have also recently started putting out baked goods, which are all very beautiful. I have tried the chocolate shortbread, which looks like a rose and tastes heavenly. I'd love to try their other items too - maybe in the future. The staff here are super friendly and explain each flavour very well. They're always happy to recommend flavours or provide samples. I've always felt welcomed, and they even offer you water if you stay to enjoy your dessert. As much as I feel like I'm always down for desserts after meals, or in-between meals or even before meals, I only have a handful of dessert stores in Vancouver that I would always be willing to go to and can this one be love at first cup? Can't believe it's taken me this long to try this place but so glad I did because it's as amazing as it gets! The location is on a quiet corner next to what looks an omakase Japanese restaurant and a Starbucks. La Glace and the Japanese restaurant share a small parking lot with 5 stalls. The inside of the shop will wow you right away with it's aesthetics and it's teal coloured peacock decorated walls. The menu is written on the wall and the directions are very straightforward. You get to taste test a maximum of two flavours, you choose a flavor and then you get one free topping on it as well. There was a topping menu on the counter but that wasn't the same as what was available so be sure to listen to the staff regarding which toppings are available. If you're a fan of cones, you can get your ice cream in a cone or otherwise, there are nice glass bowls that you can get them in too! Overall, I loved the rich texture of the ice cream and am a big sucker for the cute decor; loved the coffee and lavender flavour I got as I really enjoy lavender ice cream. There's a few parking spots out front (only four) and they share the same area with Yuwa Japanese Cuisine. We've been a few times during the afternoon and evenings. It's never too busy which makes it a great spot to chill. The inside is beautiful, bright and airy; a lot of thought and details went into the decor. The peacock theme is very Parisian. Think high end, French style patisserie but as an artisanal ice cream parlour. Two small tables, a bench and communal seating make up the seating options. The menu is simple; ice cream and vegan flavours, parfaits and beverages. You can opt to get your scoops sandwiched between cookies, brownies or a brioche bun. They also have pastries, confections, cones and pints that you can take for home. You get a complimentary topping with each order (meringue, marshmallow, waffle cookie or macaron). Scoops are generous and staff are patient. They always let us try several samples. Also worth noting: waffle cones are only $0.50 extra. - Latte ($5.00) - Rose lychee sorbet and earl grey ($7.50 double scoop) - both flavours were incredibly good. The rose lychee had a great texture and tasted just like lychee. Earl grey was reminiscent of a London fog; rich, creamy and decadent. - Framboise blanche and kalamansi sherbert ($7.50) - raspberry white chocolate and golden lime & sour cream. Both flavours were good but the kalamansi was the winner. - Guava sorbet and honey matcha ($7.50) - guava was smooth, fruity and delicious. The honey matcha was good but we prefer a stronger matcha flavour. - Flight ($15.00 for 6) - rose lychee sorbet, key lime, blue sky mocha, chocolate, earl grey and chocohuete. My favourite's were the chocohuete (peanut butter cream with dark chocolate) and rose lychee sorbet. - Noisette blanche and passion ($7.50) - white chocolate hazelnut swirl and milk chocolate & passionfruit. Both of these flavours were fantastic. I'm a sucker for anything with passionfruit in it. The milk chocolate was a smart combo as the flavours balanced each other out. - Blackforest and mint mocha ($7.50) - chocolate brownie & cherry swirl and mint mocha. There was some chocolate bits and tiny chunks of cherry. Reminded me of when I was a kid and adored blackforest cake. Mint mocha was well balanced and the mint was refreshing. I guess the neighbourhood is a little far, but if I had known it was this good, I'd have been a frequent customer sooner! Their menu has a mix of rather unique and basic flavours - the Ganache Valrhona dark chocolate flavour makes your typical chocolate ice cream look bad. It was so rich, creamy and decadent. I opted for a more unique flavour - strawberry peppercorn, which was equally as delectable. They even top off your cone with your choice of meringue, making it even more delightful to look at. Onto the interior, the design of the place is honestly the nicest and cleanest that I've seen - with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's extremely artistic and you can tell that this spot is pure quality all over. Extremely classy and such a pleasant environment. They do a deal on their meringues if you buy a pint of ice cream which is great! I took home a couple pints of ice cream and a jar of their blueberry meringue. I've been meaning to come to La Glace but it's pretty out of the way for me. It's good but nothing amazing. I like that it is also a cafe that offers a few baked goods and drinks but it really doesn't have the seating for it. They participate in the Hot Chocolate Festival but this isn't the most comfortable setting for drinks and the few tables there are, are the same height as the chairs. So the layout is aesthetically pleasing and cute but not very functional. The ice cream is good; I don't know what French style ice cream is and I still don't, from eating several scoops (I had two and my friend had two). The textures are inconsistent flavour to flavour. The creme caramel he had was thin and light; the chocouette was sticky like some gelatos. Both my ganache and creme anglaise were similar to each other in texture, thicker, slightly hard like traditional ice cream. They had some more interesting flavours as well but most of the fun seasonal ones were sold out when we went at 7pm on a Friday, which is pretty disappointing. I think other ice cream places around town do fun flavours better. The servers were super friendly and patient so I appreciated that. The ice cream is more expensive than other places around town ($6 for 1 scoop, $7.50 for $2) and so were the pints ($15) and quarts ($20). So I can see why it might be a good neighbourhood ice cream place but not to go out of your way for. read more

This place has been on my list of places that I want to check out in Vancouver for a long time, and I only wish I had come earlier! It's in the Kits area/on the way to UBC, but well worth the trip. The inside is GORGEOUS and even that feels like an underestimation. The walls are a pastel Tiffany Blue colour, with a beautiful gold painted mural of flowers and peacocks. There was a sign requesting that each person have 2 samples only, though that was more than enough for me. I tried the raspberry white chocolate ganache (which was a little bit tart and not too heavy) and the mango (which I ended up ordering, just because I love mango so much). I was thoroughly impressed with the service (so friendly!) as well as the ice cream itself (this coming from someone who is strangely hella serious about their ice cream). The ice cream was smooth, creamy and just the right amount of sweetness, without being too heavy. The price was on par with places such as Earnest, which I find very reasonable, especially because the scoop was so generous. It also came with a free topping, which was a nice touch + great for pictures. I had the vegan vanilla meringue which was the perfect balance of airy, sweet, light and crunchy. This was the last stop on our self organized progressive dinner that started with oyster appetizers at Oyster Express, followed by Cha-Tama Don and ramen at Ramen Butcher. For dessert, we cheated - the first two stops were walking distance. For dessert we hopped in the electric car and drove to La Glace in Kits for ice cream. We tried the four scoop tasting option for $10 which we thought was a great deal and plenty for the two of us. A great way to really experience four flavours in more depth after several spoonful samples, of course. Up to two toppings are included. We got hot fudge and roasted peanuts. Now I love mini eggs, I can finish a Costco bag by myself in less than a week so I had to get this! The spot itself is quite a bit far away from most of the restaurants in the kits/ubc area but it's nice little cozy store. The flavors here overall are very unique and tasty! This is a late post for Hot Chocolate Festival 2018. This was my last stop during the festival. We ordered one each of the two options available: volcan de glace and cocoa gouter. The volcan de glace was a chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream and ginger meringue. The cocoa gouter was a milk hot chocolate with a hint of salt served with a hazelnut rocher and Nutella brioche petite pain. This was by far my favourite during the festival because they were tasty, beautifully presented and unique (for the cake option). The cake was warmed before being served and was a very rich chocolatey cake. The ice cream was perfection - smooth and creamy. The cocoa gouter was also very good. It was very easy to drink hot chocolate. The brioche petite pain was a nice touch to balance the drink. Too bad the place got busy really fast after we were seated so I was not able to sample any other ice cream. The flavours looked very interesting. Seating is limited. read more
