This was for our gender reveal party! They did a beautiful job with my custom cake order. It was a vanilla/chocolate layered cake that was perfectly moist and yummy! The icing was chocolate ganache and the cake was loved by all not too sweet yet moist and chocolaty. I am so happy with this bakery! Their eclairs and all pastries are delicious. I am a big fan of their mousse! Love this bakery! read more

Passion Bakery Cafe was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! I wanted something classic, delicious, and something our guests would remember. I worked with Melvin and he was very communicative throughout the entire process. I sent them a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like and they executed it perfectly. We ended up going with an almond cake, raspberry buttercream frosting on the layers, and a vanilla buttercream frosting on the outside it was to die for! My husband and I can't want to eat the top on our one year anniversary. The prices were very reasonable for both the cake and the delivery fee (wedding was in downtown DC). I dropped our cake topper off a few weeks before the wedding because it was heavy and I wanted to verify that it would not fall through the cake. They put in extra support to make sure it stayed in place for the entirety of our wedding. read more

Passion Bakery Cafe - a wedding cake with a bride and groom figurine - Bakeries Near Me - Ashton-Sandy Spring, Maryland

If I could give more stars I would. Not only is everything from this bakery amazing but they are compassionate and kind. We placed an order for gender reveal cake pops and the day before the party we learned we lost the baby. Passion bakery was so understanding and even though they had already baked the cake pops, they agreed to cancel our order and give us a full refund. Their kindness was so needed during such a hard time and meant so much. Thank you again Passion Bakery, we are sold for life. read more

Great selection and excellent customer service. Their mango mouse cake is excellent choice for celebrations.

I needed a small wedding cake and needed it quickly! I called on Sunday afternoon and picked it up Tuesday! It was beautiful! The bride and groom were so pleased. The flavors were perfect! Thank you Passion Bakery, I'll be back! read more

Delicious pastries and great service . I ordered a slice of strawberry shortcake , a eclair , and apple turnover . These weren't all for me but I can tell you that every person who tried them loved them. Their strawberry shortcake was fresh and not too sweet. I totally will be back read more

Excellent! Fast, friendly, delicious! Count on them for everything baked to perfection!

My favorite local bakery. I'm happy that I found Passion Bakery Cafe. I always get the chocolate mousse cake. When we have a small get together, it could be a birthday or just a gathering I always order the dark chocolate mousse because I know the guests will like it. The dark chocolate is not sweet at all. It is moist and it has a thin texture of chocolate icing so it's not overwhelming. Usually guest will ask where I get the cake and always recommend this bakery. I never had problem every time I call to order the cake. They are nice and always asked if if it's for a birthday if I need to put a note. I didn't put 5 star because I got half dozen of cupcakes and it was dry and the icing was too sweet. I am not sure maybe because I came at 6pm and the cupcakes was probably made early in the morning. I haven't tried the other cake and pastries. But I always see people getting it so I am assuming it is good too. If anyone in Olney/Ashton area this bakery is a must. read more

I wanted a Birthday cake for 40 people. I wanted It to look nice but I really wanted it to taste excellent. I had visited a lot of different and well known bakeries in the Baltimore , Clarksville and Rockville area. Well, after much cake tasting it was hands down for Passion Bakery! Here's the thing ....I chose the almond cake with almond icing on one layer and chocolate cake with almond filling and icing on the 2nd layer. I had never tasted that flavor. I just had faith that if all the other flavors were excellent. I gave the baker an idea of it looking "like fall/ thanksgiving, but be a birthday cake. It was perfect and delicious and I was thrilled!!!! read more

Their customer service and caring was just awful and disappointing. I was shocked and surprised that I was sent away twice and told that a certain cake would be available in slices "on Sunday". I went to two different locations of the bakery, and even though both had a whole cake - the kind I wanted - in the bakery case, the staff REFUSED to cut two slices for me, even after asking someone "in the back". My family member had their heart set on a specific kind, a couple slices only, and the birthday was the following day. They lost a customer for life. I felt completely disregarded. Clearly, they didn't care about THIS customer, who would have been a loyal one for years to come. It's not only in what you bake, it's also how you treat people. SHAME on you, Passion Bakery. read more

We went to this bakery with my step mom and brother for having a afternoon coffee and cake. It was really bad the lady at the register was throwing pots and pans in the kitchen back and forth as if she was upset. The noise and her attitude made our relaxiing coffee experience really unpleasant. read more

I tried this place for the first time not to long ago, Absolutely terrible it many ways. As soon as I walked in I didn't receive anything other than a bad vibe. All the workers there seemed like petty careless lazy woman all sitting down at a table eating cake. As I waited for a few minuets someone finally built up the courage to assist me. I had asked about the cake flavors and the fondant and I also asked if I could taste some...( since I knew It was too late to order from anywhere else ) she said she couldn't give me a free sample at first, but later on didn't charge me which was the one thing that was quite nice. The cake wasn't cooked all the way and had bakers bubbles which means that the cake batter wasn't even mixed all the way and to add my own cherry on top the cake was dryer than airplane crackers. This was a shame. Behind the counter I could see several icing bags laying everywhere and dry icing on different counter cake tops, The woman assisting me also didn't even know all the ingredients that would be put into the cake, She had to make a call to some "Main" company where she asked about the ingredients. After that I had asked for a Lego Cake for my son and she had assured me it would be good. The day had come where I had to pick up the cake. ( Also the cake was very expensive ) The cake had gotten to my house safely but my sons name had been misspelled even though I told her how to spell it, plus it was a simple name to spell ( Isaiah ) The fondant was glued on in the most sloppy way possible. Also the LEGO eyes where put on unevenly. The fondant was extremely thin leaving uneven gaps, The fondant letters when bigger and smaller than each other making the name look gross. This bakery is over expensive and need to be checked by the sanitary board. I'm never even stepping foot near this bakery. I rate here a -0 read more

Passion Bakery Cafe - Bakeries Near Me - Ashton-Sandy Spring, Maryland

One of the best bakeries in MD if I may say so. Anytime I crave sweet treats I like to purchase it from there.

Very disappointed in the quality of their offerings, particularly the "tres leches" cake, which is a very loose (and not in a good way) interpretation of the real thing at best. read more

They made the most moist and delicious red velvet cake for my daughters birthday. The size was more than generous. The cake was ready on time and I could pick it up on a Sunday. read more

All I can say is WOW about their cakes. I tried one of them at a birthday party and have been hooked ever since. The mango mousse is my absolute favorite, raspberry mousse comes in second. The prices are reasonable too. I'd like to try their breakfast items and strawberry shortcake next time. If they were a little closer I would order for all of my events! read more

A NEIGHBORHOOD GEM! Located in the space vacated by The French Confection, Passion Bakery Cafe has not let the Olney-Sandy Spring-Ashton area miss a beat for the best in cakes, pastries and other baked treats. To sum it all up: Great Bakery. Don't miss it as you pass through Sandy Spring. I dare you to try to decide on a cake. They all are so appetizing that I want one of each... right NOW!. I settled for the Mango Mousse cake. It was a delicious treat - light and tasty and so pretty, too. The chocolate croissants are, well, my mouth is watering just thinking about them. And, after those two courses, I could not pass up the raspberry dessert cookies - buttery and flaky with a sprinkling of confectioner's sugar: perfect! Coming from a long line of professional bakers, I highly recommend you stop and pick up a tart, cheesecake, or Napoleon. The owners hail from the Watergate Hotel's bakery, so you will get the very finest the area has to offer. I really wish I lived next door! ** UPDATE * *UPDATE ** THE DAY AFTER I wrote this review, my girlfriend and I visited a different bakery in Gaithersburg, just because it was next to the place we ate lunch. We went in, looked around and left. I said, "Someday, I am going to show you what an expert baker prepares." It just so happened that we passed by Passion Bakery Cafe that eveing (Sunday) on our way to dinner at my folks' place. I saw they were open, so we turned around and we are glad we did. Not only was I able to brag about the place, my girlfriend suggested we take a cake to our party. We selected the Chocolate & White Chocolate Mousse Cake. Even though my own baker-mother had baked her own cake, The Mousse Cake was the hit of the evening. I even called the owner to tell him so. The cake was fresh, moist and melt-in-your-mouth. The large chocolate shavings evaporate on your tongue. The Cake is a culinary joy! If you ever see one in the display case, get it. If you don't see one, it is because I bought the last one! So, order your own!!! read more

This place is great, especially their cakes. They make everything from scratch and it's rare to find this kind of quality where I live. I was visiting family in Maryland last week and I went to pick up a cake for my aunt's Birthday. I got a chocolate mango mousse and it was one of the best cakes I've ever had. My cousins go there often and every time I visit them I try to stop by. I haven't tried everything but the key lime pie and fruit tarts are my favorite cold pastries. read more

The strawberry shortcake and chocolate mousse cake is sooooooooo good! I wish it was closer, I'd come every day!

Phenomenal staff. Called with a tall order and the staff delivered! 3 tier wedding cake in a super short timeframe - vanilla cake with chocolate and raspberry filling. It was superb - moist & flavorful - delicious! All of the guests ranted and raved. We definitely will be back. Thank you for an excellent cake and great service! Beyond that, the tantalizing treats in the showcase are more reasons to come back. read more

I hired Passion Bakery Cafe to take care of the desserts at my wedding in Sandy Spring MD last August (near Olney). Passion Bakery Cafe was a huge blessing, because the person who was supposed to do my wedding cupcakes closed her business two months ahead of my wedding. It was really hard to find anyone who did gluten-free cupcakes and other desserts, especially short notice, until I noticed this bakery just a minute's drive from my venue! They had a lot of options and ended up making things especially for me and my wedding. They made me gluten-free cupcakes especially for my wedding (I never wanted a cake), along with chocolate-covered strawberries and various naturally gluten-free macaroons. They were very accommodating and everything was delivered on time and looked and tasted amazing! The desserts were a hit at my wedding, especially because everyone got to pick a couple desserts that they liked. I would highly recommend this bakery for small to large orders for any sort of gathering or party. Also, the price was very affordable and they gave me a good discount for my big order. read more

GLAD TO HAVE A BAKERY NEAR OLNEY! Giant & Safeway just don't cut it for baked goods. Passion Bakery is wonderful! Great family runs it - brother to the Flowers Bakery in Layhill (corner of Bel Pre & Layhill behind the gas station). They're very friendly and welcoming. Food is Fresh and delicious. Kids love the cookies, pastries, & cupcakes (cupcake was enormous and a bit daunting for an attempt on my part but kids dug in!). Pastries are the best here - chocolate croissant, a DELICIOUS custard danish that is rectangle and delicious. Theyr'e often warm when we get there in the morning. They bring their breads in from Lyons bakery which are great. I love this place and you'll find me dawdling in front of the baked goods every weekend! Plus, their coffee is delicious! read more

I'm used to korean bakeries like shilla and bon appetit (in ellicott city), but ellicott city is so far away from home. I never have the time to go to shilla in rockville, either. On my way to and from church, I would drive by this place every week. I just never had the chance to stop by until this week. I picked up the mango mousse cake on Monday for my moms birthday and it was really good, especially since it wasn't too sweet like some cakes from other bakeries. My mom dislikes cakes that are too sweet (she complains that even some korean bakery cakes are too sweet) but she said the mango mousse was good. My parents and I were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the cake and finished it all in one sitting Saturday, my friends and I came for a book club discussion at 10 am. This place was surprisingly BUSY. We each tried a breakfast item: blt sandwich, everything bagel (eggs, tomato, lettuce, cheese, no bacon) and the breakfast croissant (eggs, tomato, lettuce, cheese). We also purchased cups of coffee and a slice of Napoleon pastry. The food came out relatively quickly and the three of us enjoyed our sandwiches. I especially liked the blt. The custard of the Napoleon wasn't very sweet, but the top chocolate later countered it so there was a good balance. A couple of things to keep in mind: Parking is limited. The space is very small and I'm not sure if it's legal to park in the lot across the street. Not sure about other days, but due to a yoga studio right next to the bakery, there were waves of people coming in after their yoga class for a snack. It seems best to order your pastries/food/cakes to go, because there aren't very many seats inside. They do have outdoor seating if you are brave enough to endure the 19 degree weather we're having lately. Bring cash!!! They only accept credit card if your purchase is $5+ Overall, I'm really satisfied for the opportunity to finally try this place out. I love local places that aren't part of a chain, and can't wait to try the other pastries from this place. read more

Passion BAkery Cafe Unique cakes...pastries are nothing to drive out of your way if your not from this part of town. NOTHING SPECIAL. Service was quick yet ....not welcoming. I seen this place years ago and decide to check it out after two years. Bethesda, Rockville bakeries or Le Madeleine's in Columbia have better in taste and selections are the same..in my opinion. Fruit tarts have too chuncky unripe fruits that falls apart when you bite/cut into it... eclairs, cupcakes and napoleon's...nothing to brag about. (maybe just that day ?) Raulin's Bakery in Beltsville, Giants or Le Madeleine's (Md) seems better alternatives. Yet I agree if you live by Olney/Sandy Springs area this is the only best place to get sweets read more

Great bakery!! Definitely would recommend the tiramisu cake (mini) the texture of the cake is on point and the flavor is superb!!!

My family LOVES Passion Bakery! My two sisters had them create their wedding cakes, and this is our family's go to bakery for all fancy cakes that we need for birthdays and celebrations. They also have great tarts, mini-cakes, pastries, and all sorts of stuff. They used to be good. The last 4 times we ordered a cake, their either lost the order, made the wrong order, or took down the instructions incorrectly. It's really disappointing. Further, this morning, because yet again our order was screwed up the previous day, we called to politely confirm our order, and the individual on the phone hung up on us. Just hung up on us?! We've been customers for 5 years. Something is going on with this place. Very disappointing. We'll be looking at other options now. read more

We did a U turn to stop in and check it out. Not the best idea on Mother's Day. Lots of choices on their counter display - cookies, croissants, cakes. They even serve breakfast/lunch items. Their chicken quesadilla is very good, plenty of chicken fillings, green pepper, cheese. I also bought 3 croissants- spinach, almond and apple. I like almond croissant the best, it has enough almond filling, and not too sweet. Crust is flaky in a good way. Apple croissant/turnover has lots of apple filling, I just wish they didn't put sugar on top of the crust, since the filling itself is already sweet. The spinach croissant is my least favorite, it has little filling. I prefer it less feta cheese and more spinach. Next time I come back, I'll definitely skip the spinach croissant and try their other items. read more
