I decided to come here after driving by this place several times for three reasons: 1) It looked nice in the inside 2) It has a webpage (I know, but it shows they're serious about doing some business!) 3) I do like Honduran food and Catracho is a nickname for any Honduran Seriously? Yes. Think about it, you may have seen my other reviews on the venerable baleadas. And they're good here too. What came to me as a surprise was the pupusas, more famous in El Salvador. The pupusas here were delicious, better than the pupusas at Adelita's, a staple Honduran restaurant in Miami. Good: - baleadas ($3.99) - pupusas (2 for $5) - carne asada (recommended by waitress, I did not try this) This is a newcomer, and the workers here speaks strictly Spanish it seems. The menu is bilingual although it's kind of hard to read the English part of the menu. The dessert menu is nonexistent, although they do have three desserts (which I have yet to try). Bad: - no dessert menu - Spanish only (should have at least been bilingual unless if it was aiming to be a hole in the wall, divey type of place - both of which it was not) - No cappuccino even though it was listed in the menu (?) I would not mind coming back for more to check out the other plates. As far as decor goes, this place may be the most welcoming Honduran restaurant in Miami - that I've seen so far. Very family-friendly vibe, almost as if it was the Honduran version of a downscaled Sergio's on Coral Way. And they deliver to Downtown / Brickell / Calle Ocho areas. Let me start by saying that I had a very different experience than most people who reviewed this place. For instance I found that the service was not rude. They aren't talkative but they are not rude. It's a very busy place, so there's no chit chat time. ASK FOR CARLA , SHE'S REALLY FRIENDLY. The food however, was a another story. BUT I am not their target clientele. Because I do not like greasy food!!!!!!!!! The beans were so greasy I couldn't eat more than two forks of it. The chicken seemed to be refried and because it was very dry. The stuffed plantain was over ripe, so it had the weirdest after taste. (It had already gone bad) The only thing we liked were the tajadas de banano with cabbage and that delicious red sauce. PLATO CEIBEÑO. But we will not return, one dish does not save this place for us. But it's always packed and the food comes out pretty fast. I guess we're just too health oriented for here. read more

I ended up here thanks to my homie MR. MEDINA. He posted a picture of his food on instagram and I was like damn... that looks good. So, I gave into temptation and decided to come and check it out. This is another hole in the wall type of place. I walked in and you can see the usual Latin American/Central American decor. I think I have bad luck too because the AC was not on ( lately, every place I go to the AC is not on. Cheap owners!). But that was a problem solved when my cousin and I ordered a couple of Heineken's to combat el calor! After we were settled down and cooling off we ordered TAJADAS CON CARNE MOLIDA as the appetizer. Wow! It was great! It is a bed of fried green plantains topped with salad and ground beef. Yummmmm.. For my entree I had Carne Ceibeña- It was amazing. The meat was tender and juicy and the dish also came with tajadas verdes (green plantain)... If you are reading this you should already know what TAJADAS VERDES ARE. Have you figured out that I LOVE FOOD? Anyway... I also ordered a MADURO RELLENO (the best maduro I've had in a while!). It comes stuffed with beans, grated cheese, and cream! Double fucking Yum. Sorry for cursing! IT IS THIS GOOD! My cousin had Carne Asada- He says it was good and he got tortillas with it. I know.. nothing adventurous right? ** THEY ALSO SERVE BREAKFAST. My first experience with Honduran food but has definitely not been my last since! I ordered some sort of grilled chicken plate that came with white rice, beans, friend plantains, cheese, side salad with sliced avocado, and a pico-de-gallo salsa. A little bit of everything! This has become my go to Honduren Restaurant over the last two years. The baleadas are actually filled with an abundance of filling. Not like most restaurants that all you taste is the tortilla. My family and I go there for all our special events, it has AMAZING prices! The service is always spectacular. Last year my family and I went to celebrate my mom's and I birthday. The staff was friendly and they surprised us with two desserts and sang us Happy Birthday. This place is pretty trash. Being Honduran, I love our food. And this place almost nailed it on the head with the food. I really wish and tried for this place to be my favorite outside of home Hondruan place but no. The food is decent, everything else is terrible. Gave this place 3 to 4 tries and every single high hope goes down the drain. The service is slow. The women do not even care about your order. Last time it took us over an HOUR to get our food, even for an appetizer. Got out orders mixed up. It's terrible, really terrible. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Awesome hidden Honduran restaurant and well worth the drive! The inside looks a little nineties but that's part of the charm. It transports you to Honduras. The baleadas were so good I ordered two more! Service is fast and food is fresh. The encurtido is also really good, it is very flavorful and not very spicy (for spicy lovers like myself) but very spicy for people who prefer milder flavors. It's my stepfather's favorite place to order from. Service is really inconsistent . Took long for a waiter to come get our order. And then the food took long to get to the table. Service was poor. I found this restaurant driving by 8 street going to work in 2008, I decided to go and try it out since most of the Honduran restaurants in Miami they are not that great inside to my surprise this restaurant was really nice decorated inside. I order a Ceibeño de carne asada and i was delicious, the baleadas are great too. Since then I have been going to el Paseo Catracho when ever I want Honduran food. What can I say about this place besides the the fact that it's an 8th street institution for amazing typical Honduran food. Super easy on the wallet and numerous choices to quench anyone's appetite. Never really sat down for a meal at the location and have always ordered take out but none the less never disappointed with the service. If you want good food you know this is the spot and don't forget it's in the middle of 8th street with all the hustle and bustle so with that being said its an experience in its self. You must be cooking and serving cuts of unicorn because the meats were magical. The pupusas were organic flying saucers. The shredded vegetables were fresh from a Mesoamericana​ garden of Maya. If you make your way over, please do yourself the favor of ordering the following: - a baleada, which is a flour tortilla with mantequilla, refried beans and grated cheese. But, get this! You can also add sausage, eggs or carne to it. Delicious! Every person I have ever taken to eat a baleada has fallen in love with me just a little bit more. True story. - carne asada accompanied with avocado, refried beans, rice, cheese, salad, chismol (which looks like pico de gallo but is so much yummier), sweet plantains and flour tortillas. You will never need to eat another meal for the rest of the day. Accompany these meals with a Salva Vida, our national beer made in San Pedro Sula. Hollllaaaa. And to make things even sweeter, it's super cheap! My mom and I ate a baleada each with an horchata for $11.00. Come on! Can you beat that? I don't think so. Please Note: If you are white, I guarantee you will love this place! I came here for the baleadas and I stayed for the baleadas. They are the legendary food of my husband's childhood and he would not stop talking about them until I tried one... which only took 6 years because he thought there were no baleadas good enough in Miami and didn't trust his own culinary skill up to the task. The way the food is seasoned and served is definitely worth the try if you're looking for some authentic Honduran food. Their appetizer sampler is great if you're with a group. I seriously underestimated the size when I went with just my husband. The only reason I won't give them 5 stars is because the wait staff is not particularly inviting. All the times I've been there, I've had to wait long and deal with the curtness of the wait staff. Service is usually make or break for me but the food is so good I'll tolerate it and so should you to get some really fantastic food. read more

Meh Indeed... I really wanted to love this place. I have been 3 times thinking "Maybe this time they'll knock my socks off". However, every single time it is a disappointment. I have several friends who swear by this place. I go for one reason only BALEADAS... Yes I am a little obsessed; it's by far my favorite Honduran meal. The only things I have tried on their menu are a "Stuffed Plantain" that comes with beans, cheese, and this amazing white cream... I have definitely had better. I also have had their "Baleadas", and they are just nasty. If my first time eating a baleada was at Paseo Catracho I would've never fallen in love. The place is really cute but that's about it. We had an horrible experience at PASEO CATRACHO. The manager was unfriendly and extremely rude to us. We came my friend and I with our service dog, the waitress didn't even want to give us the menus. We asked to speak to the manager and he didn't even have the courage to come speak to us, I had to find him hiding behind the bar. They didn't want to serve us even if we had the service dog papers for our small dog. It was very frustrating, never go there again. read more

I'm Honduran, and I'm sorry but service here sucks, the food is good, when you get it about 45 min wait per plate. Kitchen is horribly slow. Do if your going make sure you have nothing else to do after. They say they open at a certain hour. LIES!!! I've seen people walking around inside and they don't even acknowledge you. They also have a honey beer from Honduras that is amazing, and I don't typically like beer.Their capricho for dessert is s must have, it is amazing! 1st time there. Party of 4. Services by Juan Carlos . He was very attentive , tried to help us with the menu and suggested a few items . Food was amazing , fast and service was great . Carne asada platter was outstanding . But carne asada itself was over seasoning and salty but rest was perfect. Those fried green plantains were the bomb . Chicken empanadas were amazing . I love Honduran food so any time I see a Honduran place, I'm going in there. This is more of a family type atmosphere than the other Honduran restaurante on Calle Ocho. When you go in, the place is filled up with tables and booths. It's comfortable. There's no dance floor. Their main focus is on the food. They have all the typical Honduran foods: baleadas (these are good - it's a flour tortilla filled with eggs, refried beans, cheese, crema and whatever else you want to put in there), carne asada, platanos fritos, pollo frito, arroz con pollo... They even have some Honduran beer which I'm not totally crazy about. If you like Honduran food, then this is the place to get it. If you've never tried it, then I strongly recommend this place. read more

I ordered the carne acada and baleada con choriza. I preferred the carne acada but the baleada con choriza was very cheap! Only $4.99. The portions are really really big and worth the money. The steak was flavored and a good size. I also ordered the anafre mixto which is chips with cheese and beans. The cheese was a little too cooked so it burned tho but still delicious.
