As someone who follows a plant-based lifestyle, it's not always easy finding Latin restaurants that don't use animal products in their beans, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they don't. And when I tell you these are the BEST restaurant beans I've ever had, I mean it. WOW. We actually discovered this place by accident two weeks ago when the restaurant we originally planned to visit was closed on a Monday. We needed something nearby, so I jumped on Yelp, saw the great reviews, and decided to give it a try. I wasn't expecting much, but I was completely impressed. Everything we've tried has been simple, fresh, and delicious. The Ensalada Turca is my favorite and an absolute must-try. The jugo de mora is incredibly refreshing, and the sopa de frijoles with rice and maduros hit the spot so much that I ordered it both visits. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive, always making sure you have everything you need. The restaurant itself is small and unassuming, decorated with beautiful cultural touches. The music playing in the background instantly took me back to my childhood, reminding me of the songs my mom and grandma used to play on the radio at home. I ordered the Sancocho de Costilla and it was packed with tender beef rib, yuca, potato, carrot, plantain, and corn in a rich, flavorful broth. The portion was generous and tasted homemade perfect for a hearty meal. I paired it with a fresh beets salad and crispy tostones on the side. The tostones were perfectly fried (golden and crunchy), and the avocado + lime on the plate added a nice fresh touch. Everything came out hot and well-seasoned. Really good food with fast service and nice decor. They have an assortment of juices, sodas and coffees. We started with 2 Colombian empanadas that were crispy on the outside and rich flavored meat filling inside. Love the corn meal shell. Then I had the chicken stew with potatoes and it was super comforting. Definitely had the home cooked meal feeling. I also liked that it was more like a puree soup than just the thin clean broth style of chicken soup. It comes with white rice and plantains, which were not super sweet and sugar caramelized, just how I like it. My husband's Chicharron plate was hearty and the arepas were soft and lightly seasoned. What a cute little hole in the wall! My family came out of town and considering we come from a Colombian background round we truly wanted authentic Colombian dish! We started off with the empanadas and whattttta treat! The picante gave just the right kick! The fried yuca was delicious and we also tried the Bon de bono super fresh with the right amount of cheese! For our meals we devoured the Sancocho, bandeja paisa, whole friend fish and skirt steak! We went for a late lunch on a Saturday and when we arrived it was quite crowded and lively . We may have been the only gringos in the entire place. We thought the food was authentic and delicious. We wanted to try a few of the items and ordered a lot of food for two people. We started with a chicken empanada with a delicious ahi on the side. It was crispy and freshly made. We tried the Sancocho de gallina (hen stew) with fried tostones, white rice, and dark meat chicken for the sides. It was SO good! Not quite a chicken soup - more like a pureed vegetable soup with potatoes, yucca, carrots and aromatic chopped fresh cilantro leaves sprinkled on top. The sides were amazing - the tostones (fried bananas) were deep fried and thick, and the white rice was good, too. We also had the ensalada turca with thick, fresh chucks of local avocado, thinly sliced red onions, tomatoes and more. I also saw the tamales pass by me and I decided to order that as well. Delicious. It was wrapped in leaves and had bone-in meat. The arepa was grilled. All in all, it was a great meal - not expensive at all. Our server was also very nice and friendly. Bamboo is in an inconspicuous strip mall in southwest Miami and does not look like much on the outside. But it's clearly a local favorite and I highly recommend it. read more

A friend took us here for breakfast while we were on a weekend trip to Miami. It is a traditional Colombian restaurant. We were immediately greeted by the sweetest ladies. Our orders were promptly taken. I ordered a Colombian coffee with milk (café con leche), scrambled eggs with everything (huevos revueltos con todo) & cheese bread (pan de bono). My friends ordered cheese fingers (deditos de queso), which were long fried cheese filled dough bites. The food came out in a timely fashion and I felt like I was at home being served by my mom or family member. The ambience was nice and the food was delicious! i ordered a cheese arepa which was 6.60$ and it was tiny, dry, and had no cheese. i video call them so they can see it. the only response was that they have a new provider. i never got an answer as to where was the cheese? I have been passing by this little Colombian restaurant for a while and never caught my interest until my parents ordered food from there and told me how good it was. So this past weekend we decided to go and try the food for ourselves. Wow I never knew how delicious Colombian food was, we decided to order their avocado salad mixed with tomato, and for the main entree we ordered their fried fish with sweet fried plantains and rice. The avocado salad had good chunks with nice blend of oil and salt, it was huge but so good that you couldn't stop eating. The fried fish or the Mojarra frita is a perfect dish to share because of the size, the fish came out nice and crispy on the outside and very fluffy meat in the inside. For dessert we decided to order one of the typical dishes from Colombia which as the Natas pudding. Which is a pudding made from heating whole milk and scraping off the harden caramelized part.
