The masitas de cerdo frita were the highlight - they were soft and flavorful (probably the best we've had, with white rice and fried green plantains (probably Hawaiian crispy outside and soft inside) delicious $11.95. My parents and I absolutely Love coming here for pupusas and el tamal de Elote not only is the food amazing it's also very affordable. The ladies that work there always make us feel welcomed. Today we tried the chicken tacos from the appetizer menu and omg.. they were delicious! I've been coming here for some years now and they never fail to deliver. My husband and I usually come for the beef soup (caldo de res) and pupusas. We've tried this at other restaurants but we always find ourselves coming back to these. The soup is very flavorful and it comes with rice and handmade tortilla, very filling. Prior to ordering they bring butters Cuban bread. They are also reasonably priced and service is always great. This place is also clean, which is plus for me. We will continue coming here. read more

"Pupusa Heaven"--I've been advocating the name change for quite some time... Crunchy shredded cabbage, spicy picante sauce, and don't forget the incredible (fresh made) salsa. If you've never eaten a pupusa--this is one of the best places to try them in Miami. Portions tend to run large and if you want to try a little of everything get the "Super Antojitos". It combines plantains, steak, chicharron, salsa, crema, platanos maduros, queso blanco, nachos, frijoles, etc. And if you're in need of a sugary horchata fix this place sells it by the bucket. Parking is somewhat tricky and the music tends to play pretty loud, but otherwise the restaurant is a stellar place to get your fix of central-American cravings. read more

My meal was good - a no frills Cuban sandwich (ham, pork, cheese, pickles) and a side order of plantains. The sandwich was huge - I could finish barely half of it. Same with the plantains. It was a huge order. If I'm back in town I'd certainly consider this place for a quick meal. First, I should probably perfect my Spanish, though. Had lunch at Cafe Vinales on a Thursday afternoon with my coworkers. I ordered two Pupusas Chicharron, Frijoles, Y Revueltas and a side of Frituras De Malanga. Quality This was my first try at Salvadorian food, so I followed the lead of my coworker. I ordered the Pupusas, which too me were much too loaded with the refried beans and were lacking in meat and cheese. To me it was equivalent of a squished bean burrito, which is not a compliment. I also tried the Frituras De Malanga, which though Cuban I had not seen it on many menus. It was good, but lacked a quality sauce to compliment it. I was not impressed by either dish. Quantity Even though the food is not great, they definitely load you up. I did not need two Pupusas and ended up bringing an entire one home. Value Tons of food and extremely cheap. Everything on the menu was very reasonable and with the quantity of the food I saw, if it was a bit better it would be amazing. Ambiance Fits right into your standard Latin-American restaurant in Miami mold. It is part diner, part restaurant, part bar. It is set up more for take out, but there are several oddly shaped seating areas. It usually is a good sign when no one speaks English in a place, but here it was a bit deceiving. As could be expected there was a soccer game on and plenty of people drinking beer. Crowd Almost everyone was a clear regular. Everyone was chatting with the waitress, who seemed like the only one working. And as I mentioned everyone was speaking Spanish and I would guess most probably only knew Spanish. Service Lots of people and only one waitress running around. She seemed used to it and was very friendly, but still slow even for Miami. They're either highly overstuffed or not cooked evenly or the masa's too thick. I'm of Salvadoran descent so I am a little more picky about how my pupusas are made than most people. Bad staff. Food is mediocre. ^ my original tip now I think with a level head I can explain the situation. So we came here to eat because they have a "parrilla" that comes with a lot of meat and everyone picks from there and we each order the sides we wants its almost like a barbecue style. It's the worst pieces of meat the chicken was terrible which, it's kind of hard to ruin chicken. So first they advertise certain things and they didn't carry it. The waitress when we asked her would kind of like laugh like if we were wrong for even asking like we should know even though they advertise that they don't carry those items. Then finally when my boyfriend went to pay he handed his card to the lady at the front and told her the tip amount in Spanish so she can't even say there was a language barrier because he spoke HER language and she went ahead and tipped herself an additional $5, all this with a stupid grin on her face when confronted she then pretended to not understand us. When I come to Cafe Vinales, I only order the pupusas, which are delicious! I've had various kinds of pupusas here: I've ordered them with cheese only, I also had them 'con loroco' (lororo is a Central American plant, where the flower bud is used in cooking) and I've had them with chicharron. And all the different varieties that I've ordered them were very tasty. The pupusas seemed bigger than the way I've had them, compared to the way they're typically served at other Central American restaurants. I usually pair my pupusas with crema and refritos frijoles & they serve it up real nice here. The service has always been good & they're always attentive. They also serve cold beers! read more
