Hi Dr. Seltzer. My family and I have been your patients for over 20 years and we we have always been very happy with your service for medical and cosmetic procedures. I went to an appointment today and was informed that you are on leave. The staff (all who were new) were very rude and unhelpful. The dermatologist who was filling in for you would not address my medical issues which you routinely deal with and and said I needed surgery, although she didn't even touch my face or examine the very small cyst that I have on my cheek. Additionally she would not do my Botox but wanted to refer me to another doctor in a different practice to do it. After spending less than 5 minutes in the office and the doctor saying that she couldn't do ANYTHING to my face, the receptionist and new office manager insisted that I pay a $50.00 co-pay for the useless office visit. Your previous staff would never have been rude or unreasonable about the way the office is being run. I was always so happy with your treatments and it is very sad how poorly your practice is being handled in your absence. Your past treatments would have always gotten 5plus stars from and my family but the new staff would get 0 stars. I hope that you are doing well and am sorry to relay bad news about your business. I wish I had seen the poor reviews before I booked an appointment. Maria T the PA is completely incompetent and the staff here are slower than the sloths at the DMV. Moreover they somehow believe they know how blood tests work (they don't). The misinterpreted my blood test and failed to follow up on a basic procedure. Absolutely do not recommend Stay away from Maria Trinh, and Barbara . On a recorded like Corinne asked me why you left your former doctor? Like how is that any of your business? Dr Kivett is a joke- he's a horrible and rude dermatologist. He only spent 5 minutes on me and said that he had other patients to see. He overbooks his appointments and only gives you limited time. He wasted my time and money and I waited over 3 months to see him. He's very impatient and arrogant and did not address any of my issues. His assistant and front desk staff were very nice though. Dr Kivett is an old prick who needs to retire. There's no passion at all and he only cares about money. read more

Dr Seltzer is an expert in his field. I have continually recommended him to different friends and every time he works magic with various skin issues/acne. I went to him recently with a bad burn from a car accident that was healing poorly and scaring, and within a week it's doing so much better. I'm a bit conflicted writing this review because I think Dr. Seltzer is very likable, has excellent bedside manner, and seems like a very nice fellow. However, I was disappointed with his diagnostic skills and overconfidence in his diagnosis. I consulted him about bags under my eyes that I explained had suddenly appeared over the last year or so. His diagnosis was, "You are getting old. That's all there is to it". He had such a nice smile and attitude and was out of the room before I thought, "that isn't a real answer". I went to see an eye surgeon (ophthalmologist) who did a much more thorough differential diagnosis and said the evidence pointed to hypothyroidism, as this can compromise the barrier around the eyes and allow fat around the eyes to leak down into the eyelids, this resulting in puffiness and when the light from above hits it, you have the bags/shadows under the eyes! I treated the hypothyroidism and suddenly other symptoms like tiredness and anxiety suddenly vanished! So glad I got a second opinion. It was not "just getting old" and the fact it developed quickly and not over a long period of time should have been a clue to Dr. Seltzer that it wasn't "just aging" but there was a cause we needed to identify. Also, I found the office staff to be untrusting and unnecessarily resistant when I explained I didn't have a co-pay since I'd already met my plan deductible for the year. I had to call my insurance company from their office because they would not believe me, even when I politely explained the same thing to the office manager. They still wanted me to pay the co-pay but finally let it go. read more

Came to Dr. Seltzer for second opinion and treatment of my dermatitis. He was thorough and very good with follow-up. Fast appointments but not too fast that I didn't feel heard. Have been on treatment for 3 months and it's worked miracles! Annabel is a great nurse. There was one nurse (I don't remember her name) but she wasn't that great and failed to send my prescription to the correct pharmacy. Found this place on yelp to get a mini tattoo removed I got as a teenager and deeply regret. Right after my consult w Dr. Seltzer I knew I chose the right office because of his great bedside manner, thoroughness in assessing and pricing, and overall nice office. I appreciated his upfront fee breakdown stating it can take 5-10 sessions at $300/session based on size, the color, and my pigmentation. I'm on my 6th session and couldn't be more pleased. I was hoping for only 5 sessions but the darn pink is stubborn as heck. In addition, the RN, Vanessa, who does my sessions is really friendly and professional. She noticed the topical numbing still left me flinching off the bed and inquired if Dr Seltzer could numb me w lidocaine SQ since the area was so small... he gladly did and I've been able to tolerate the sessions do much better. Street parking is available or you can pay in the parking lot behind the building. They take CareCredit! I love it here and highly recommend! I know the office does other services I can't speak to, but will update if I utilize any other services. read more

I felt compelled to leave this review of Dr. Seltzer tonight after an incredible visit with him today. I was referred to Dr. Seltzer three years ago by another doctor after having a bad experience with another dermatologist. Dr. Seltzer is as good as they come. He knows skin and he is incredibly kind and down to earth. My visit today was to deal with a skin cancer diagnosed by another dermatologist during the Covd 19 shutdown or at least I thought Dr. Seltzer's office was closed. After getting the results from the other dermatologist, I contacted Dr. Seltzer's office. I consulted with other doctors, radiation, Mohs etc.... and after hearing what the other doctors had to say, I went back to Dr. Seltzer for a scrape and burn procedure. Dr. Seltzer is an amazing doctor and a kind human being. He is honest and straightforward. He is the kind of doctor that we all want but is really hard to find. Dr. Seltzer and his staff are extremely knowledgeable. The office is in a great location and has a very relaxed vibe. Scheduling has always been easy and stress free. Dr. Seltzer has handled all of my dermatology needs and his staff has handled my laser treatments. I found everyone to be extremely friendly and accommodating. I'm always informed of what to expect beforehand. I highly recommend for all dermatology and laser treatments such as tattoo removal, scar treatment, mole assessment and anti aging face and body. After a consultation where Dr. Seltzer assured me he had state of the art equipment to perform the best laser on my dark (sun) spots, $800 and 3 sessions later (that each one lasted 2 mins.) there was zero result. I highly do not recommend his services for this. He only checked in on me the last visit. They did not use the right strength. A complete waste of money. read more

Dr. Robert Seltzer is very caring dermatologist that I have ever met. I am a care giver of my elderly parents very stressful time. I have been dealing with cystic acne the worst in my life! Dr. Seltzer is very patient and doesn't give you a quick fix but is very methodical about your treatment plan. I am African American and I tried seeing a African American Dermatologist (Covered by my insurance) that I assumed he would help my skin but sadly he made my skin worse!! I met "Dr. Rob," as I call him, at the french film festival known as "COLCOA" in Los Angeles some years back. Over subsequent years seeing him there at the festival time after time, we struck up a friendship. He's a very smart gentleman with impeccable taste, a real sense for beauty. After being mis-diagnosed at my Kaiser for having a stye in my eyelid, it was found out that I had a basil cell skin cancer resting in the precarious place of my eyelid edge. Scary stuff. I had seen Dr. Rob for a different skin issue and decided to see him for a second opinion. He was most accommodating, explained things to me in a manner that I was not able to get from the doctors at Kaiser, and made me comfortable with the Mohs and reconstruction surgery I needed to have by the new specialist there. I cannot sleep well on this second night of rioting in the pandemic, so I decided to finally leave the review I've never gotten around to-- Dr. Rob (Dr. Seltzer) is an exceptional dermatologist who can handle most any skin condition and, I hear, he is a real wizard with a laser, if you are seeking skin rejuvenation or treatments best done by it. That is his forte. His staff are cool folks too. My only complaint would be that his phone system needed some upgrading by the office manager, but I hear that all happened since I last saw them all last year. I was referred to this office by Kaiser Permanente, as their dermatologists were all full at the time, and came in one time for a skin flare up. My office visit was a literal 5 minutes with the doctor just stating it'll probably go away soon and that she was prescribing me antibiotics and clindamycin for it being a potential periodal dermatitis. So imagine my surprise when I get a bill for $132 the next month for the 5 minute office visit...okay, it was an outside referral so I paid the amount and went on with my day. Then the next month, I get another surprise bill for $134....I call the office to figure out what is going on and the operator tells me that she's going to send in for review because it's some sort of insurance adjustment and that it's showing I paid already but acted as if this sort of thing was pretty standard. Ummmm, okay? So I immediately got the sense that this was scammy, and if someone had gone to their patient portal (which isn't working by the way) to see this bill, they would probably just pay it unless they called to inquire. This is a major red flag and I would advise against anyone going to this office. read more

I came all the way from Orange County to visit Dr. Robert Seltzer because my friend recommended his services. I am more than satisfied as he is extremely intelligent, professional, and generous (no insurance? No problem! They offer amazing prices) I suffered from a severe body rash after taking amoxicillin and went to an Acupuncture / therapy. They prescribed me useless medicine and ointments that only made my condition worse. Initially, I avoided the dermatologist because I always thought they were highly expensive and a bit nerve wrecking (I later found I was completely, 100% wrong)! I met with Dr. Robert Seltzer and nurse Sonya. Both were extremely nice, polite, and listened to me carefully about my condition/past diet and nutrition. I knew right away that Dr. Seltzer was beyond intelligent because he confirmed all the medications, dosage, topicals, etc to the nurse in less than a minute. From the look on my face, he knew that I did not understand the complicated medical terms so he advised that he will explain everything to me soon. He was also confident in telling me that he was going to make sure I was okay and healed within two days (it was more like within the next few hours because I felt better right after the injection) Not only did he break down everything to me in a language that I understood, but he recommended that I use a specific laundry detergent for my skin. I am beyond grateful for Dr. Seltzer and his staff. They offered me a discounted pharmacy and I was able to purchase through them-they even deliver the medications! read more

Dr. Kivett has been incredibly patient, kind, thorough and knowledgeable. He actually wrote the chapter in a dermatology textbook on MOH surgery, a special type of skin surgery. He took his time to explain the science and medicine behind the skin condition for my relative and took great care in examining the patient and showing us what he discovered. He is just about the gentlest and kindest physician I have ever met. The front office staff was equally excellent. I was visiting this center twice and would like to tell that this is very nice place. Everyone is very polite, attentive and professional. Of course, The most important - is doctor. I highly recommend doctor Joseph Del Priore - he is the best Dermatologist ever! Very attractive, professional, he knows his job and did it so fast that I couldn't even notice that my papilloma was already removed. He has very nice personality which is also important. I had a breeze at my appointment here. Arrived on time, was kindly greeted, filled out some paperwork, was promptly seen, had a good experience with both the nurse and the doctor, and overall have zero complaints. Office was clean, parking was easy, front desk girls were friendly. My only gripe was that a woman in the waiting area was claiming that the Fine Young Cannibals were a one hit wonder (they're not, both of their albums are GREAT top to bottom) after "She Drives Me Crazy" came on. This office should be rated by DPH. Floor is dirty, counter tops in rooms are full and have open syringes accesible to the patients waiting inside the room. I had an appointment at 0900 and was not seen until 10:30... no one came in to say there would be a delay until I went out to ask what the hold up was. Then the doctor said he was going to send a prescription to the pharmacy, went in later that afternoon to pick up prescription with nothing being sent. Will not be returning. read more

First, I was not sure if I wanted to leave a review or not. But, after my wife accompanied me to an appointment, my wife insisted on me leaving this review. I came to Dr. Seltzer after a recommendation. My first visit with the doctor took literally 3-5 minutes and the doctor did not explain anything to me and dismissed my concerns. I asked about a skin rash I had on my arms. He came across as arrogant, and uninterested. He was rude to his nurses and staff all around. Did not have a good impression of him and felt bad for the staff for being overworked and understaffed. " I over heard conversations" . Second time now, another 5 minutes and he took a biopsy of one of my rash bumps, which by the way looks worse and dark: and is very embarrassing. * In the smaller waiting room.. " he was upset at one of the staff members because she had not found the person whom had left the bed Yelp review and he needed to fix it ASAP. Third time . I am his last appointment, and he said he had a long day and was tired and wanted to get home. At this point, I was about done with this whole place. I expressed polity one final time that my rash has seem to have gotten worse, he instructed his nurse to treat me and did not even do a visual inspection, he looked from the door and left in a hurry. He said " he had been doing this for 40 years and he has seen it all". I told my wife what had happened and she was furious. After seeking a second opinion, I found out the medication he gave me made my rash worse and caused it to flare up . Turns out it was just the follicles.. and all This unnecessary biposy that he said was a untreatable stress rash was the wrong diagnosis. I have a PPO .. so I am guessing he Maxed it out. First, be nice to your staff, especially in front of patients. Second, take time with your patients. Third, be humble. *More than likely He will Try to overturn this yelp review so he can keep getting patients. So my advice would be, to Go somewhere else and be seen by someone who can take the time with you and treat you like a human being and not a number. read more

I had a simple lipoma removed today doctor was nice enough to get one of the nurses to film it for me since I'm a bit of a film buff and it turns out so is Dr. Seltzer. We talked about our favorite movies throughout the procedure. Guess I could say it was the best time I've had on an operating table! I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. Dr.Kevitt was nothing but nice and caring! You can tell he cares about his profession. After my first biopsy came out positive, he made sure I understood the different layers of the skin so I'd understand the process I'd have to face if the second biopsy came out positive as well. Knowing this made me nervous but It also prepared for whatever would happen and for that I'm grateful. During the second procedure I was able to chat with Dr.Kevitt about other stuff and found out he does a does a lot of charity work. Thus, this is why it might be hard getting an appointment with him. That being said, Maria his PA is great! She was the one that spotted the mole that came out positive and I had no clue about ( I was referred for a different mole). This review is for a PA I saw in this office for an issue related to my foot. I had the option of surgery with my podiatrist or a non-invasive cryotherapy with derm. I had wanted to see the MD however both of my visits were with a PA. She described a non-invasive cryo procedure that "would not break the skin." She misdiagnosed me (several other medical doctors gave a different dx). I tried to explain this to her but she would not listen. The simple cryo procedure began - I had significant pain. Once she stopped the cryo there was significant bleeding that required cautery - with no anesthesia. She gouged a hole in my foot - about 5mm wide; and it bled. Could not walk for a couple of days. Despite being a diabetic with now a wound she scheduled a follow up for 2 weeks. I saw my podiatrist 4 days later who was dismayed at the treatment. He cleaned and dressed the wound and gave me instructions on how to care for it and made a follow up for the following week. Beware of this PA provider (Maria T). Poor skills. Poor follow up. No regard for me as a patient. My daughter is a physician and was appalled at the gouged wound she created in my foot. read more

Dr Kivett diagnosed & removed basal cell cancer (scalp and wrist) several years ago. Last visit (Jan-Feb 2019) "froze" questionable spots on my arm, back, shoulder & chest. Good job of catching and removing the bad cells. Never looked at my scalp to evaluate the bloody scabs & lesions-- the reason I was there. I thought that a little odd. Possible basal cell (scalp) symptoms are progressing -- more bloody scabs. Update -- my insurance sends me back to Dr Kivett -- I call to make an appointment. and reception indicates I am not insured...again. Despite confirmation with my provider. Who is worse? The medical staff or the dermatologist? A toss up. Perfect match. read more

Went to see Dr. Seltzer for botox and filler for my face. My faces significantly bruised and purple and swollen on one side for over 3 weeks. He had someone there try laser to help which was very little. Now he says there is nothing he can do. Hopefully it will fade away and tenderness stop in time. I will never visit him again. You know what's super sad? Dr. Seltzer is GREAT! He's fast, energetic, knows his shit and doesn't make you wait. He's funny, super nice, and incredibly engaging. It's too bad his staff is a total disaster. I came in for a rash that sprang up over night and he made it go away in about 2 days. At the end of my initial visit, though, I was asked to come back after the weekend so he could asses the progress. The desk staff told me when and what time I should be there. I agreed since I'm pretty flexible these days (pandemic, amiright?) Imagine how shocked I was when I arrived for my appointment (3 min late because of the maze of the building) and he'd already gone home for the day. I asked what happened and they questioned me like I had gotten the appointment wrong. A nurse pulled my chart and it was clearly marked that I was to return Monday the 12 for follow up. Instead of saying "we made a mistake" she started reviewing my chart while STANDING IN THE WAITING ROOM and started asking me questions about my rash. In the bleeping waiting room. FFS. I said to her "uhhh....you are NOT going to charge me for this visit if the doctor has gone home. And you're certainly not going to assess me in the effing waiting room." It's been a long time since I saw a desk staff crap the bed this badly. I'm not saying don't go see Dr. Seltzer. I'm saying call 2 or 3 times to make sure his staff knows you're coming. And then call again right before you leave your house so yo don't completely waste your time driving there and paying to park. read more

I have been seeing Dr Seltzer for over 10 years now! You can't find a finer dermatologist which such skill and experience. Dr Seltzer iIs board certified, has the latest technology and qualified dedicated staff. I have Kaiser and I still go to Dr Seltzer because I know I will have quality care. For example I recently had a bad cut on my nose. I went to Kaiser and they did not treat it properly. It should have been sutured. Now I have a large scar and went to Dr Seltzer to fix what Kaiser couldn't do properly. I can't recommend a finer practice. read more

I went to Dr Seltzer upon recommendation. I had skin problems on my face and whole of my body, but I went to see him for my face specifically. I explained in detail what was happening. He looked at my face and arrogantly announced that I was a "picker". He stated that I was lying about what was happening and that I was a picker and in denial. I explained to him that I had the same issues on the rest of my body and had the scars on my legs too. Again he insisted I was just a picker. He prescribed OCD psychotic drugs and said that they worked for people like me and I could try it. He was convinced it would be the end of my troubles if I listened and obeyed. I explained that I thought it might be related to my Crohn's disease and Colitis, but in again insisted that he knew and that these didn't have anything to do with my skin. His discourse was so strong that his nurses were lined up behind him and also lectured me on the perils of picking. No one listened to the patient - they listened to their boss like a soldier taking orders in the military. I didn't take the Rx. I knew that I wasn't picking. I went to another dermatologist and was bombarded with the same thing (maybe they were friends or attending the same conferences of "experts"?). I eventually discovered the problems were directly related to my Crohn's disease. A skin disorder that is common for those with Crohn's disease (Erythema nodosom). While typically difficult to treat I did find a treatment that worked for this disorder. Dr Seltzer stands in the way of the truth by believing he has it. I wouldn't send anyone there unless they had a suit of armor or simply wanted youthful skin laser treatments and lived next door. read more

Dr. Seltzer helped me with a keloid on my right ear that grew due to an infection from an ear piercing. He was was very thorough with his evaluations and provided me with the best care to get rid of my keloid. He addressed all my questions and concerns with the utmost patience and made each visit extremely comfortable since he has a great sense of humor too His assistant was also very sweet and patient with me as well!
