Derms often pick a lane (cosmetic or melanomas) but Dr. Gaspard swims gloriously through both while looking indeterminate age... My first appointment with Dr. Gaspard was as such: she sliced a potentially cancerous mole from my labia without blinking (maybe due to some botox) and then told me all about her trip to Seoul to study all things salmon sperm facials... Her passion and warmth comes through every time I see her--pants on or off. I immediately wanted to be her friend, but I'm working on boundaries with my therapist. On my way out minus one mole, I noticed a poster on the wall for her premiere membership program: AND.MY.HEART.STOPPED. Dr. Gaspard offers the most reasonably priced membership style way to try out all kinds of fancy skin treatments (lasers, peels, microneedling) on a monthly basis. You can select from all the hottest procedures for $350 a month. That is UNHEARD OF in LA . I asked Dr. Gaspard why she was electing to do this for her patients, i.e. make this affordable, and, she said simply that maintaining your skin should be far more accessible than it currently is--it should be within reach. (Not like designwithinreach where it's actually all insanely expensive and the fact that they call it designwithinreach is just cruel). This is actually in reach. She's basically Santa Claus in a white coat and her team, especially Gina, is great. Now, I come here once a month to try a new treatment for less than an Equinox membership and zero commute. If you're overweight, your doctor or physician's assistant will unknowingly fat shame you. You can sense it. They like thin, fit and fabulous. You are treated 1000% better. This has been my dermatologist for 6 years. Unfortunately the billing and invoicing between doctors and other staff needs improvement. I was told my procedure would be done one way, but day of a different method was used. Maybe the staff didn't communicate efficiently? I'm not sure but it left me with a much larger bill as a result. I painstakingly disputed the charges with the billing staff but was left with "there's nothing we can do for you" as the final answer. To keep them from sending me to collections I reluctantly paid the invoice in full today, but my feelings of disappointment and frustration remain and I don't feel I was treated fairly. I would warn anyone visiting this office to get an estimate in writing before any procedure is done. I will sadly be looking for another dermatologist. read more

Huge bummer. I went to get dysport/botox. I asked for some in my chin but prefaced that I am a performer and depend on my smile for work. The doctor was fairly dismissive and super quickly injected me, almost with arrogance. When I said- wow that was quick- she scoffed and said- I've been doing this a long time. I felt nervous about my smile/about getting chin Botox. Turns out- my smile is completely lopsided. Half of my bottom Lip completely covers my bottom teeth. And the other half shows my teeth. If she wasn't so dismissive and arrogant I wouldn't be writing this. I am too afraid to go back and have it "fixed." So I'm paying someone else to do that. Just a warning! read more

About 4 yrs ago I came here to have some cherry angioma removed. I was happy with the results so for that i gave 2 stars but late last year I came for a consult and was sold on the cool peel. I paid $2,500 for 3 sessions and immediately after recovering I told the Dr I was not happy. Not happy after the 1st not happy with the 2nd or 3rd. My brown spots did not disappear as told they would. My fine lines are still there no change. I'm so disappointed in the results. I was offered 1 free needling which I didn't go back for. Researching, 1 session would not do anything I would need at least 3 and I was not going to get suckered into paying one penny more. I'm out $2,500. Been going to this Dermatology Center for a few years after a recommendation from my primary care physician. I've need a few different doctors there, and they have all been pretty good. Thankfully I have not had any major issues (knock on wood), so it hasn't been very complex visits. However, I do feel that the doctors are all quite capable and that I am in good hands. Parking is not ideal, but there is usually some street parking in the area if you are willing to make a short walk. Thankfully this is in Pasadena, so the days are usually nice weather for a quick walk across the street . In particular, I have seen Dr. Black, Gaspard, and Han. If there is going to be some sort of surgery, it seems to default to Dr. Han, but I could be wrong. read more

I came to see Dr. Butler to help deal with eczema on my hands. The doctor barely even looked at my hands, only referring to the pictures the nurse had taken. Didn't feel comprehensive at all. I love Dr. Black! Super efficient and knowledgeable. One bit of feedback I'd give is make sure that you know what is covered by your insurance! After my full body check (which is covered) Dr. Black asked if I needed anything else. I responded "oh I do have this skin tag, could you remove it?" She promptly did and I paid my co-pay for the full body check. I then saw I was billed $142 for the skin tag removal! It makes sense, I just didn't realize that it was going to cost anything/that much. It would've been nice if the doctor had said, "this is cosmetic and likely not covered" or something like that. If I had known it was that much, I wouldn't have gotten it removed Thankfully Shannon from the billing team worked with me on the bill, so thank you! I won't make that mistake again. Also my baby has a fairly rare skin condition and Dr. Black gave me some great recommendations on where she can get the best care. Will definitely come back! I can't say enough about Gina Obsenares! I have been going to her for about 5 years now. She always takes the best care of me and every single person I send her way. She takes her time and really listens to what you want. Her experience is evident as she has a gentle and nuanced approach to every procedure we have done. Overall this is a great place for skin care. However, if you are here for the aestheticians....buyer beware. Not all are created equal. Ruby is the best they have. Change you work, kids, church or family schedule to book her. If you end up with the homegirl, expect to waste half your facial with her hands off. She is the laziest aesthetician I have ever seen. 10 min under steam, 10 min under red light, 10 min under blue light . Mixed results with the care here. My experience here has gotten less pleasant over time. The blonde woman at checkout was very rude. She snapped at me to not take more than one sample, and that she's seen too many patients get greedy. I had only felt comfortable taking more than one sample because in my last visit, a nurse had warmly told me to take as many as I wanted. Billing is INCREDIBLY shady. I went for a mole check and had to get two moles removed. I did everything the doctor recommended and still ended up with 2 inflamed scars. She offered to give me the V-Beam laser free of charge. The doctor said and notified the front desk IN FRONT of me that there would be no copay or visit charge including the laser. While I was leaving my appointment and talking to RECEPTION I asked if I could have my tretinoin refilled. Never got confirmation of this until I received a notification from CVS. A few weeks later I received a bill, I tried to refute it quoting the various conversations I had with the doctor about how it was free. They told me since she refilled my prescription I would be charged for the office visit. The doctor did not examine me for the purpose of this prescription or receive this request directly from me, nor was I notified that a refill would incur a charge... I've never had ANY doctor charge me to refill a prescription. Honestly a lot of these Pasadena medical groups/practices are extremely negligent when it comes to billing and proper procedures. I was just simply coerced to pay for something unknowingly. Doesn't really seem like the front desk knows what's going on and are slightly incompetent. Won't be going back and will be letting my other friends and family members who are patients know. read more

Honestly, my favorite place to go. After moving from New York to LA, I went on a whim for a much-needed skin check in early 2022. I had a spot on my face that I never really thought was anything but alas, it was skin cancer. Dr. Lee was incredible, fixed me right up, and even listened to me freak out about if it spread all over the place (it didn't and wasn't the kind that did). I see Alexa every 1-3 months due to having a lot of moles/freckles already and being ginger. She always listens and never makes me feel like whatever I'm nervous about isn't a big deal. Genevieve who works with her is excellent as well! I feel fortunate to have a place that I trust so much for both my skin cancer history AND cosmetic procedures. Everyone in the office is so kind. Do I go too often? Probably, but no one makes me feel like I'm being dramatic and for $30-50, the peace of mind is worth it. Also, anything that happens with biopsies or on the skin will create a scar. Morpheus has been great with my scar from my Moh's surgery though Dr. Lee did a great job so even without Morpheus it wasn't so bad. read more

The receptionists informed me that I owned no copay for my visit, only to receive a bill two months later. When I called billing to ask why I was misinformed, I was met by a curt phone operator who called me by the wrong name, she refused to answer my questions, and constantly cut me off. Dr. butler is kick a*$! I went in to get an idea of the lump I had on my hip. At first she thinks it's a mole and asks if it bothers me, I tell her honestly that it does and she immediately grabbed her lidocaine needle and tells me that she can cut it off flush with the skin and send it off her biopsy right now. just a few minutes later it was off and she stated that she was going to poke around a little more and make sure there was nothing else there which I extremely appreciate how thorough she was because she ended up finding a small lipoma (fatty tissue) and took that sucker right out. I couldn't believe how fast and painless it was and I'm mad at myself for not coming in sooner. Overall amazing experience. read more

It's more than beauty and looking your best or shaving ten years off of your appearance. A skin-tag or maybe a bump under your skin that needs to be looked at? Maybe some skin spots or other issues? Don't wait until it becomes a serious health issue!
