I used to go here for cortisone shots when I had pesky underground pimples that I needed to flatten before an event. They were great for this purpose, and it was easy to schedule an appointment. I decided to give them a try for laser hair removal (underarms). My work schedule is rigid, so when I called I made sure to confirm what the requirements were for same-day procedure, because I don't have time to drive in just for a consult - especially for such a minor procedure. I'm also pale with black hair, so I was a pretty straightforward candidate for laser hair removal. When I booked the appointment, I had to ask about the requirements - they were just going to hang up after scheduling. Not helpful, as I know there's prep required for the procedure (what if i didn't know?). So I asked and the receptionist assured me that I just needed to shave the night prior. I TRIPLE-confirmed, because I thought that we needed some stubble to laser, but the receptionist said it was fine. I did some google-fu and it looks like some places laser without hair, and if there was hair, they just shave it. Cool. So I shaved the night before and headed out the next day (hour drive each way) to the office. Guess what? I arrive and the nurse tells me that my hair is not long enough to laser off. Smh. Shocker. So I ask the nurse to tell me exactly how long the hair needs to be for the treatment, and have her draw it out. I schedule a follow-up that same week. Follow-up time comes and I call and let them know that my hair is a bit longer than what the nurse drew, but asked if I could still move forward with the procedure. They said no, and if I wanted to reschedule it would incur a late fee if the reschedule is within 48hrs. Not sure how I'm supposed to reschedule at the right time, because the hair can/would grow within that 48hrs! Knowing that I wouldn't be able to have the procedure anyway, I was told I'd just have to show up to NOT incur the late fee. Even if there was literally nothing they could do lol. Would be a gigantic waste of time, so on principle I just asked to be charged the late fee and be done with it. I understand they have a policy, but the way they handled both appointments tells me that they don't prioritize technical knowledge sharing and time. Also is indicative that they are not collaborative - not something I'm personally looking for to handle medical procedures. I ended up calling another office that specializes in laser hair removal (also in Pasadena), and they were wonderful! Told me all of the requirements and prep upfront so I was ready, and respectful of my schedule when I asked for same day procedure as the consultation if I was a good candidate. They also told me they would shave down the hair themselves if it felt too long, but they didn't think it would be an issue after talking with me. I honestly should've just gone with the new office. I just wanted to give skin deep a try because I had a pretty good/efficient experience with cortisone shots. This review is based on what they call a teenager facial. I took my son who at the time was 13 and had the obvious teenage blemishes and acne. Prior to arriving I had him on a pretty good skin regimen using good natural products but wanted his skin to get hydrated and have some possible extractions. After his facial I asked him how he liked it and he said his face was burning the whole time and he was told that was normal. The next day he woke up and his face looked sunburned and was peeling around the cheeks. His nose was flaming and when I took him to a dermatologist they said the chemicals used in their products probably burned the top layer of his skin. I would proceed w caution and do more research on what's in the products they use if you decide to come and/or bring a loved one. When I first heard about this place, I never expected to have such a terrible experience with their customer service. After reading their reviews, I realize now I'm not the only one who has had issues with the woman at the front desk. I scheduled a much-needed facial and asked about a consultation for other services like microneedling and laser treatments. They said they would send a text to confirm, but I never received one. So, today I called to double-check my appointment time and they told me to come at 3. But then, at 2, I got a call saying I was late and needed to reschedule. The person on the phone was rude and didn't even apologize. Since it wasn't my fault, I asked to speak to the manager. Another person talked to me and said to just come at 3. So I did. Maria, who did my facial before, was my esthetician again. The facial itself was fine, but after the terrible experience with the front desk, I won't be coming back. Melissa did my Botox and filler, and now my eyelids feel heavy and droopy, my eyes also look droopy and sad, but most of all my face is all uneven with both Botox and filler. I am sad to have to post this review and it's taken a few months to decide it's the right and morally correct thing to do to make sure no one else has to experience what I did. In August I visited Skin Deep MedSpa in Pasadena, CA. From the beginning I advised the clinician that I wanted Dysport as I'm older and need something stronger. I advised I had it in the past as well. She had me sign paperwork for the treatment and although the paperwork was a Botox authorization form, I assumed (my mistake apparently) that she heard me clearly and that was perhaps a general form for injectables. She also told me I was losing volume in my cheeks and mentioned the lines along my jowels. So now we are adding 4 syringes of filler to this procedure. Along the way I mentioned that one side of my top lip droops and I had filler in the past but it just puffed my lip up which isn't what I wanted. I wanted "lift". She suggested she puts a small amount along the lip line to try and lift it rather then puff. I agreed. At the end of everything, I felt happy about my upcoming results and even liked my lip. Well.... Unfortunately this DID NOT LAST! Within 1 month, I had almost full movement of the injected areas! I called them and they had me come in for a "touch up". This touch up did nothing for me and a couple weeks later I was back as my face results were almost gone and the filler in my jowel lines were LITERALLY GONE! The lines were prominent and I felt as though I had nothing done! My lip was dropping again and the only thing holding was the filler in my cheek area. All this after almost $4000!!!!!! I called again and spoke to the manager this time. I went back to meet with them just to find out the used BOTOX and not Dysport as I requested!!! After speaking alone, they came back to the room and used every tactic known to man to blame me and took ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY for using the wrong product and told me I signed off on it. The told me the clinician took notes all along after every move wish seems incorrect because I don't remember her taking a break of any kind except to grab a new syringe. I wanted a refund for everything but my cheeks as that was the only thing that took. They pretty much told me I was out of luck and could not issue a refund. They offered a small discount off future Dysport which is pretty much an insult after $4000 and only 10% of the procedure to show for it! I'm not sure if they are using old or cheap product but it didn't work. It's now been 4 months and even my cheek filler is gone now plus I'm stuck with this huge bill! I am strongly urging you to please reconsider this business if it's anything you've been looking into because you will have ZERO PROTECTION if anything goes wrong. I am a good woman who is honest and THEY DID WRONG BY ME! I am now going to make a complaint with the BBB and all social media platforms because I need to speak up for people who blindly walk Into this "place of business" with hopes of getting a quality product for the money they will pay and end up with one unaccountable and irresponsible "MedSpa". My opinion: Over a year ago, I was given a facial treatment, as a gift from my mom. I had near perfect skin always, but went anyway because it was a gift. After an excruciatingly painful treatment, I had a very severe reaction and breakout. After many visits to multiple dermatologists, countless antibiotics, many painful laser treatments, and Accutane (which caused a major heart condition), I am still dealing with the scars from this Spa's treatment. These scars are exactly where the esthetician poked at, which is illegal to do in California by the way. In California you are not allowed to break skin. Under Laws and Regulations of Barbering and Cosmetology, article 12, section 991, They did break skin. The Spa owner, who is a Doctor but not a dermatologist wants to say he helped, but he hasn't spent one dime or reached out to help at all. He only worked to cover his own skin. All his staff did was work to take down poor Yelp reviews. My family has spent many thousands to try and reverse the work of this spa, and I have endured tremendous pain and suffering in my own life. It has affected me physically and mentally. Shame on Dr Schwartz and shame on this spa. Enjoy the pictures below and you can see my before and after pictures. As a former customer of Laseraway, I was surprised at the different experience! All of my previous laser hair removals were very painless. I think this was because they used too low of a setting. A year later, most of the hair on my chin came back. Laser Med Spa seems to be using the correct setting since it was a little more uncomfortable (not painful at all) and seems to be much more effective at eliminating the hair. I touched up my chin and did my bikini line. After one treatment most hair is gone! Prices are more reasonable and they don't spam the heck out of my inbox. Highly recommend. First off, I have been a client of Skin Deep for a couple of years or so. I moved from Downey to Pasadena. Dr Heather Amitrone was my doctor from Downey and she also provided services in Pasadena at this location, so I followed her. Heather was amazing. I hated to find she was no longer at Skin Deep. However, I continued on at Skin Deep as it is close to my new home. They then referred me to Barbara. She has been great. Saw her twice in the last 9 months or so and once during Covid. I called today, 10/1 to make an appt with Barbara. The process was more difficult than normal. First off, I never asked the receptionist name in the past as she was never really friendly. Just matter of fact and dry. Today when I called, it was not the same 'dry' gal, it was a very nice young lady (sounding). She was very helpful, but put me on hold twice during the call. Once I finally made the appointment, she asked me to hold again. I thought why? I am done here. In fact while I held, I got my text confirmation. This is the part of the experience that I will no longer use this facilities services. Instead of the fresh voice I talked to who made the appt, it was the same gal from the past who was never friendly. Today I find her name was "Ricky". I recognized her voice right away. The reason she got on the phone after my confirmed appt was to ask me for a credit card to hold my appointment. She went on to say there is a 48 hr cancellation policy, however if I did not make it I would be charged. Just the way she presented it made me uncomfortable. There is certainly a way it could have been said to ease the discomfort. I expressed my feelings that I have always kept my appts and would rather not give my CC. Instead of coming down off her high horse, she went on in saying this is common now in the industry...I said I will need to cancel my appt then I guess. She went on to say, good luck finding another place, in a tone that was not acceptable to me. I suggested they reconsider that policy, and she she no they don't need to. Bottom line, she really needs to work on her customer service skills! Coming in for botox has always been an uncomfortable appt for me. A little embarrassing is how I always felt. You would think the front desk receptionist would WANT to make you feel comfortable. Not this gal. Ricky, if you read this, please take this as constructive criticism. Work on those skills young lady! Botox is available everywhere. I can find another doctor down the street, and will. And I am pretty sure they will be fine and probably more pleasant.
