Both my late mother and late step fathers who died from glioblastoma were patients and they were happy with their care. So when I got a growth on my head I tired to make an appointment but the receptionist refused to book an appointment with me even though I was a medicare patient because I had a secondary that was contracted through Medi-cal. She rudely cut me off when I asked her if I could pay cash for whatever insurance did not cover. I question the legality of discriminating against someone based on perceived income level. Unfortunately for me, there are no English speaking dermatologists near me who accept my secondary so if I got anything out of my interaction with the receptionist, it was too keep my mouth shut about my secondary to avoid class-based discrimination. UPDATE: After writing my review, I noticed that two other reviewers similarly were discriminated against because they had Medi-cal. read more

Their parking lot is shared with other companies or businesses in the plaza. They do accept card at the the kiosk. The elevator is a very slow one and I believe there is only one. It is an older building so it is small on the inside. The doctors are hard to schedule so make sure you are ready to see them a few months later. When you do get seen, they will listen to you and give you their best advice of what your issue(s) is. For me, it was a few things: mole, hair loss/thinning, and pimples. She gave me prescriptions and did a skin scrape thing on mole and sent it to pathology. They sent me a text with my results so I didnt have to wait too long for a response. read more

Dr. Denenholz has been the dermatologist I've seen on and off when a concern arises, and he has always been so great! He is kind, smart, friendly and really great at his job! His assistant, Karen is so sweet, kind and smart too! My sister has seen Dr. Pai before and she really liked him as well. The staff is great too. The office is clean and everyone is friendly. Dr. Soltani is a great dermatologist. She is thorough, courteous, experienced and she listens. I have rosacea and had a basal cell cancer removed. She recommended a blue light treatment and my skins texture improved tremendously. I'm very skeptical of any beauty procedures but I did try a laser treatment for my rosacea and a tiny amount of filler for my marionette lines and my skin has never looked this good. I'm so happy I find this dermatologist! read more

Overall, this was one of the best "doctor's office" experiences I've had in 68 years. Why? Waiting room was pleasant and comfortable. Receptionist was polite, quick, and welcoming. (Past complaints in Yelp about the front staff do not apply anymore.) My appointment actually began at the scheduled time! (Didn't have to wait and wait as in some offices.) The nurse (Denise) was professional and friendly. Dr. Soltani saw me quickly, and was also professional and friendly. Her recommended treatment made sense to me. Both doctor and nurse explained what they were doing in a respectful and kind way. Oh, there is paid parking next to the building. But if you're cheap, like me, there is ample free parking on the nearby streets, with less than a 3 minute walk. Before my insurance changed, I had been seeing another dermatologist in town. But my experience with Pasadena Premier Dermatology and Dr. Soltani has been superior in every way to what happened in the past. I'm pleased to be a regular patient now. read more

I really did not want to write this review but I'm appalled at the uncaring and unprofessional treatment of this office. Not only are the front desk staff the most rudest I've ever encountered at ANY medical office (which I've overlooked over for years now) But this office now has repeatedly given out expired skin care products. When this happened the first time over a year and half ago, i called to kindly let the office know the basket of samples they are giving out has expired products not expired by months but by YEARS!!!!! Now again I was given this time by the physician himself expired products as the sample basket now is empty. I will NEVER return to this office again. I am appalled at the lack of care by this medical office. Shame on all of you for your lack of respect and care! read more

Members of the family have been coming here for years. Unfortunately, interfacing with the front office staff has left a bad impression on my husband today. Gee..they are condescending and rude! The rudest women, ever! If they are so unhappy about working there, maybe they should find a different job or take a day off for some self care or time for self reflection. I have come here for several years now and would agree that the staff here is fairly cold and unhelpful. Also their billing and appointment systems are archaic. You can't get them to email you anything. They just call and leave a message the day before your appointment but now have implemented a cancellation fee so by the time you get the call you have a late fee to pay. They are also saying that they can't provide patients with masks due to a shortage but I know for a fact there is not one so this seems like a cost avoidance measure. If you are looking for a new dermatologist office I would look some where else. read more

My daughter got her ears pierced here by Dr. Pai back in November 2022. Everything was fine until this week, one of her ears became swollen and looked infected. I called the office and spoke with one of the nurses who instructed me on what to do and sent a prescription for antibiotic ointment. It's been 3 days and the swelling has completely gone down, and I was even able to get the earring back in her ear! Very thankful to the office staff, nurses and doctors, thank you! read more

It is .75 cents every 15 minutes. ATMOSPHERE: It is a beautiful building and immaculate office. When I go to the doctor I am a little obsessive about cleanliness. I don't need to worry about getting a flesh eating virus or something else. The office is on the third floor of a neat brick building that looks like it belongs in New Orleans. The elevator is slower than a snail though. Just find the stairs because it takes 15 minutes just to get that slug of an elevator down to the first floor. SUMMARY OF MY TWO VISITS TO THE OFFICE: In the last two weeks I had to cut my ties to my previous dermatologist due to seriously crappy service after 19 years. There's plenty of other dermatologist fish in the sea, so I decided I would check YELP and find another one. I found out about this group of dermatologists from YELP and my neighbor who is a doctor. He sees Dr. Gabriel Pai and highly recommended him. I called Dr. Pai's office and spoke to Marlene on a Wednesday and she got my son an appointment to see him the very next day. Dr. Pai had a great way with kids and his nurse was great too. She tried to take my son's mind of the mole removal procedure that was taking place and she really did it with her conversation with him. While I was there with my son I decided to make an appointment for myself to get a head to toe skin cancer check up since it had been a couple years. I felt a little weird about getting the head to toe exam from Dr. Pai since he's a guy, so I went to his partner Dr. Michelle Lee yesterday. I really liked her and she was thorough, but for other issues that pop up I think I would like to make an appointment with Dr. Pai. If you check in with Yelp you can get a free sample of one of the products they sell. I was given a sample of Kinerase Advanced Repair Serum and the Ultra Rich Eye Repair Cream. I tried them out and I love them. I am sure they are expensive. If you check in with Yelp I would recommend that you try out those samples. read more

Look good, feel good. It's always nice to have a dermatologist on speed dial, and Pasadena Dermatology should be at the top of anybody's list with the right insurance (they take my Anthem Blue Cross PPO and who knows what else). The office is in a New Orleans-looking medical building on Green Street just past Lake. They do not validate for the ground level parking lot but no worries -- tons of free two-hour parking on Green just past the office. Office staff can make or break a busy office like this, and the ladies running the show here are the best of the best -- Marlene (she is just awesome) and Sue (fantastic) seem to keep it all moving with four different doctors and a full lobby at all times. Cancellations happen all the time, and the appointment you want may open up at any time -- Marlene will call you. I've been to Drs. David Denenholz, Gabriel Pai, and Ivy Lee. All are great docs with wonderful bedside manner; you cannot go wrong with an appointment to see any of these three. I like doctors not afraid to prescribe medication, and these docs will give you what you need. Small doses are given in the form of free samples for a wide variety of dermo-related conditions. Best kept secret -- Dr. Pai has expertise in the injectibles area, if you get my meaning, and I'd much rather go down that road with a board certified dermatologist than anybody else. Extremely rude and moronic staff! Every time I call or go in person, the women staff there are always so bitter and seem to hate working there or hate their lives, they take it out on the patients. Recently, I called for a refill and the old woman I was talking to was so rude and asked me the same questions at least 4 times because she was too lazy to write it down the first 3 times I told her. Then she never gave my message to the doctor. They need to fire all the staff and rehire happy staff that'll work fast, smarter and friendlier. These old hags are driving business away. read more

The staff are awful from the person who greets you and requests paperwork, to the 3 young ladies sitting behind their desks as you leave. After I was rudely greeted, I waited longer than anyone else in the waiting room, even though I had arrived prior to them. I was assigned to Dr. Pamela Hu, who was quite nice, but did not go through any lengths to help diagnose my skin issues (itching, rashes) and I did not bring my other issues up to Dr. Hu because I didn't feel like she would help anyways; she seemed to look at me from the start and just decided that I didn't need much help even though I have several health concerns that manifest themselves in ways that affect my skin such as hyperhydrosis. Instead, my regular PCP has taken great care of me. On the way out, I left the exam room and stood there waiting for someone to check me out. They typed and typed and did not look up for about 3-4 minutes, when I finally said "Is someone going to help me?" The girl said "With what?" I asked "Well, I usually have a co-pay when I go to a specialist, so here's my card." The girl at the office stated "We don't always need one." I said "but my plan requires it." She said "It's not necessary, sir!" and then went back to her typing. As I felt she had refused payment, I left. Since then, they have been sending me bills for $60 to my old address. They then reached me by phone and threatened to call collections. Over $60! I'll be happy to pay their measly $60 and say goodbye to them forever! read more

This place is a fucking joke. The doctor was odd and made me feel uncomfortable. Their billing department is snide, rude, archaic, and negligent. I went here for one stupid visit and will never go back again. Sue in reception can honestly go to hell. The other people in there sound like they're being held hostage. I needed a claim to be resubmitted after I got new insurance coverage. They neglected to do this until it was too late. Now, over a year after my visit, I'm probably going to have to pay as if I wasn't even insured. If I could go back in time and literally go to any other dermatologist just to avoid having these morons leave me voicemails about money I shouldn't even owe, it still wouldn't be enough to make me feel better. I've had a few appointments Dr. Hu by now. One thing in particular that I appreciate is that things don't feel rushed -- it doesn't feel like a lot of doctors offices where they've got appointments booked every 5 minutes and they try to get through each one as fast as possible, spending as little time with the patient as they can. Dr. Hu makes sure that all of my concerns are addressed. It's reassuring and personable. One thing to mention: the parking lot is paid parking and it only accepts cash. I don't know if there's alternative areas to park nearby, but just a heads up if you're like me and you usually don't carry cash. Although one time they let me go for free because I was apologetic about forgetting to bring cash (plus I was only parked there for ~40 minutes). To my knowledge, there isn't an ATM nearby. read more

Happy to be their hundredth review and shocked this practice has more than two stars overall... All the ladies in front are incredibly rude, incompetent and their insurance practices are questionable. Should it be that difficult to understand when an insurance card says "no copays" on it that it means "no copays?" Apparently the superstars behind this front desk found it impossible. After explaining multiple times they finally agreed to see us. Then, they billed us incorrectly... and charged us for the copays again - even after multiple explanations! The rudeness continued over the phone and their eventual excuse for not billing us improperly was "we have the ability to bill you properly - but we won't." Openly admitting you are sticking with performing your job duties incorrectly rather than apologizing and correcting the issue is just wrong. Run as far away as you can from this practice as I guarantee you will have nothing but headaches from a front desk that could care less about doing their job correctly! read more

I would rather say something nice so some of the staff/doctors I've met inside are kind. I've been billed 6 diff times from either them or their 2nd opinion doctors (they never asked me) + insurance and 2 of them were mistakes made by the office-blaming it on the computer. Keep track of what you've paid and don't be surprised if you get random bills 5 months after your appt/procedure. I was just in for a simple skin check; I had a dark freckle and they said let's remove as a preventative so you don't have to think about it. For peace of mind for sure i did. but they don't actually bill it as preventative -they go extremely in opposite direction and even with excellent insurance plan, expect surprises and to pay at least $500 and 6 diff bills. Again, my latest bill just came in from a 2nd opinion doc I never knew about, nor was I asked approval to do so. read more

I was assigned to Dr. Soltany when I called. I was trying to find a dermatologist who could see me the next day due to a very itchy rash and painful blisters. 1) when I called, they scheduled me for the next day. However, after explaining that I am a new patient I was rescheduled for the following day. 2) Dr. Soltany was with me in examination room total for 5 minutes. 3) she couldn't really tell what I have but provided few prescriptions 4) I am not sure if it was worth my time and money. I paid $150. The worst part is that my rash keeps spreading and I have to pay another $150 to see some one else who can at least take a sample of my blisters and send it for analysis. That's definitely not a poison ivy as she suggested. read more

This clinic is definitely geared toward older patients' health concerns, NOT young peoples' aesthetic goals. Between two dermatologists over the course of 10 years here, I was prescribed multiple topicals, retinols, and oral meds, and yet I still never achieved clear nor beautiful skin. Then about 2 months ago I went to Facile Dermatology, and the dermatologist there informed me the topicals I was prescribed by Pasadena Premier Derm are way too strong and are actually exacerbating my acne. 2 visits to Facile under my belt now, and my skin has immediately cleared up thanks to her evaluation and the new products she prescribed me which work much better for my skin/needs. Never stepping foot in Pasadena Premier Derm ever again!!! read more

Dr. Lee is fantastic. She is very friendly, and thorough. I felt very comfortable with her, and will probably keep her as my dermatologist. With that said, I am not a fan of the office staff. At all of the appointments I've had there, I noticed the staff is very gossipy and caught up in their own world. Many times I've not been acknowledged when walking in, and two of the times while checking out, and trying to pay my co-pay they didn't seem to have a clue about my co-pay or scheduling a follow-up appointment. I don't know why it is that way, but I don't appreciate it. I also recommend getting an early appointment to get in and out quickly, because based on my experience the afternoon appointments take forever due to delays in prior appointments. Also, try to find a parking spot on the street within walking distance (watch for parking restrictions) because they do not validate. read more

Dr. Pai is a great doctor! He genuinely cares about patients and has great bedside manner. I'm in my twenties now and have been seeing him since high school. He helped me clear my acne, flatten a keloid, and get rid of several moles. He always answers all my questions and catches up on life with me during my visits. Would highly recommend him! I was first referred to this office from a very qualified dermatologist in the Long Beach when I moved to Pasadena. I have a skin condition that required "bluelight" treatment and I was charged $40 a session which I paid cash. I later developed psoriasis and was issued prescriptions are highly expensive creams and later told that I needed ultraviolet light treatment; two or three times a week. After a few weeks and realizing I need to get out of the People's Republic of California, I received an astronomical bill. I was told that the light treatment was now approved for $80 a treatment from the previous $40 a treatment. I wish I had known this or was told this prior to beginning the treatment. Business commitments made to me were not fulfilled and so I have now ended up living out of state and him in poverty. I have explained this to the people that claim to handle this at this "medical" firm and told him I would pay what I could pay when I could pay. Then without any further notice I received a "transmittal, from Transworld systems Inc. joining me for $291.17. Why is it that when people do not pay a self-employed individual that they can be suggested to credit failure but others with greater resources? read more

I have had hard water mineral build up on my scalp going on 4 years now and have spent way too much money and time being given the incorrect advice on how to solve the issue. I was misdirected by professionals in the dermatology and hair professions and never helped to solve the issue despite many attempts and money spent to work with professionals. I came to this dermatology office years ago and was instructed to waste my money and time on products that did not work and the problem I had itself with dandruff and build up was almost denied entirely when I contracted ringworm from my cat. I was left to fend for myself and solve the issue independently on my own years later. I would not recommend this clinic they either cannot correctly identify the problem after years of training or are purposefully wasting peoples money and time to help them deal with the symptoms of hard water mineral build up. I wish this was more commonplace knowledge, the solutions I came to are: diluted vinegar rinses after showering in hard water to remove the build up, cucumber juice to heal scalp irritation, and using physical force by lightly tapping my head to remove scalp build up - it takes a lot of time and patience but can be done to deal with any issues. The solutions are cheap, easy, and did not require a prescription or special shampoos I am horrified professionals were unable to help me resolve this issue since they have years of training and knowledge on the subject. I do not want to point fingers or blame anyone but it is suspicious they appeared to intentionally provide the wrong advice. read more

When you walk into an office is it too much for the secretary to look up and and say " hello" maybe even a "can I help you". I literally stared at her for a minute before she looked up. Is it also too much to ask for an apt. To be on time? If I make an apt. for 10am. Why would I not be seen till 10:20. It's literally the basics. If you don't want my business don't let me make an apt. But, if you don't want my business respect me enough at a patient to be on time. Felt disrespected by dr. Soltani and her staff. read more

My boyfriend sees Dr. Pai and highly recommended him. I agree with him completely! He was kind and gentle. When he started the procedure, he explained everything in detail to what he was doing. Having a procedure on your face right under the eye is a very sensitive area. He made sure I did not feel anything. He advised me to return back in 1 week to get my stitches out. After my stitches were removed, there was no scare. Amazing!!!! read more
