The claw machines here are straight theft. Got $30 of coins for my kids, and several times they were able to get a doll and the claw machine OPENS UP and drops the doll right before it gets to the door. My kids play these all the time and I know the claw usually does a little shake right when it gets to the door, to try to loosen the doll from its grip. But these ones straight up open up, and drop the doll.... I've maybe complained twice at any establishment in my whole life, and I really contemplated finding a manager today. 3 of us checked Partea Nyc in the afternoon one day, and the concept was really fun - food and drinks on the lower level, and arcade games and claw machines on the second level. We got in and ordered some gyoza, fries, and tea drinks from the Kiosk. We order a combo that came with the food, drink, and $20 worth of tokens. The drinks we got were a Thai tea with pearls, a peach tea with grass jelly, and one of their lemon refreshers. There were some drinks that had recommended sugar level at 30%, which we did because the screen said so, but unfortunately, it was way too sweet for us. The Thai Tea was pretty much set, and that was pretty sweet as well. Otherwise, the drinks were OK to us. The food was rather standard. There was some bar-like seating by the window on the first level, and the look of the place was cool as well. The arcade level was small in comparison to most arcades. There were mostly machines with lil plushes, one with some shirts, and a few actual arcade games, such as shooting lil plastic figures to collect points in exchange of lower level and higher level prizes. This was my first time here, we got a whipped matcha with creme brûlée, it was soooo good! Definitely a 10/10, my friend said it's her new hyper fixation dessert. My other friend got a regular matcha latte and she said it was a 6/10. She really enjoys matcha and like hers stronger she said. They have claw machines in the back which remind of me of Japan! Good tea but the arcade section is a total scam. Many of the claw machines were totally empty. Many others had 2-3 plushies...compare that to other places where there are usually 15-20 items in each machine, layered on top of each other and you can aim for the ones closest to the drop chute. Also, I've never encountered a claw machine with a stronger recoil. Even when you manage to grab one of the very few items in a machine, it is guaranteed to fell before it reaches the chute. It was very disappointing because I like claw machines and this location is pretty close to me. read more
