    Dirty Chai
    Alex M. ..

The dirty chai is particularly smutty and filthy! I really dug it and it has to be one of the best I've had in the city. It's located at the top of a building on the 9th floor so it's very lowkey. Got some cool books and music to hang around. Staff was super kind and it's added to my rotation of cute a$$ coffee spots around DTLA.

I stumbled on this cute little coffee shop while visiting the Last Bookstore about a month ago, and the drinks and vibes were exactly what I needed to end my day! After talking with one of the workers, I decided to host a little get together here to celebrate my engagement. The celebration was last weekend, but I can't stop thinking about it! The chef was able to whip up an amazing charcuterie board that all of my guests LOVED!! They all also raved about the amazing view of downtown! Highly recommend that you stop by this hidden gem if you're in the area

Place is such a vibe!! Mario recommended getting the BLT. So fire! Definitely come by here!

There were a few parties entering throughout the time that we were there, but it didn't get very busy. Really the hardest thing was finding a street parking spot, given the Little Tokyo location. Also FYI there are some shady areas at night a few blocks away from this (away from the action of LT), so may want to be careful where you park, especially coming with kids. The cafe is small and sure it was decorated but if you compare themed cafes in Japan to this it's not that impressive at all. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the food as most of it was sold out when I went so I got Robins drink which was recommended by the staff. The pricing seemed decent for most of the items. It was sweet but very watered down, to me it tasted like a grape propel drink....not my favorite. I noticed a lot of the drinks were premade into cups already. I don't know how I feel about that as the freshness aspect isn't there but maybe they were slammed when they first opened and that was the best way they could get peoples drinks out. The souvenir cup was a nice touch but I personally wouldn't come here again.

What immediately stood out is how well the cats are treated -- they have full freedom to roam, plenty of toys to keep them entertained, and they're well fed and cared for. You can tell this place genuinely prioritizes making it a warm, comfortable space for the cats while they wait for their forever home. It's not a shelter -- it feels like a home. The staff made the whole adoption experience seamless. Jude especially was incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable -- exactly the kind of person you want guiding you through the process. The rest of the team matched that same energy, and it made everything feel easy and stress-free from start to finish. My girlfriend and I couldn't be happier -- we found our girl Pinky, and she's already stolen our hearts. 10 out of 10, would recommend this café to anyone thinking about adopting. The cats are given full access to the whole space, they own the place and we are just guests. Coffee is decent, but you didn't come here for the coffee. You came to spend time with flurry friends. Prices are very reasonable as well. You can't go wrong if you just want a couple hours away from the busy day and be accompanied by some very friendly cats! If you are looking to adopt a cat they do work with KittenRescue so you are in wonderful hands. The process is smooth, quick, and just overall a very pleasant experience.

We were served by a wonderful Caucasian maid, and we also noticed a cute Korean maid taking care of some other tables--the whole staff was super friendly and really added to the charming, positive vibe of the cafe. One thing that really stood out to me was their retail section. They have a surprisingly solid selection of Japanese trading card games like Weiss Schwarz, Hololive, and Pokémon, alongside some manga. It's an awesome touch if you're a fan of the hobby or just want something interesting to browse while waiting for your order. As for the food, I had to try the classic maid cafe staple: the omurice. I ordered the curry omurice, complete with the signature cute ketchup art drawn right on the egg. It was hearty, flavorful, and definitely hit the spot. We also tried a couple of their specialty iced espresso drinks, including the tiramisu latte. They were topped generously with whipped cream and tasty crumbles. The drinks are definitely on the richer, sweeter side, making them feel like a dessert in themselves. At the time of visit, a gentleman had taken my order, and it was a rather plain and unwelcoming experience. I had my usual iced latte. When asked about receipts, I mentioned that it was okay but was keying in my information for the Rewards Program. After making the drink, he nonchalantly looked at the tablet and CANCELLED my information, then made eye contact with me - rude! What's the saving grace of this place? The espresso for sure. The iced latte is one that I'd rank fairly highly in my list of Ktown cafes. It's a fairly minimalist spot with Wi-Fi and comfortable decor. The benches are lightweight and will move if you're not too careful, barely on the narrower end, too. If you visit, may you never have to deal with the service by this gentleman with the earrings - utterly horrid.

I was hoping to have my own AE86 built and ready when I finally stopped by, but maybe for the new location. As an honest critique of the actual storefront, the appearance and decor is very charming. In a very bright, Japanese themed cafe kind of way. But because this is an Initial D themed drink and snack spot, I can see this being a place where mostly guys use this place as a meet-up hub. Especially for a small car meet. Very niche right? Especially for the dying breed of 1980's 1990's - 2000's JDM cars. That said, how many guys in the city could you actually get to come here regularly for soy and soy-based accessories, drinks, and snacks? The dessert was okay, and I wasn't in love with the drinks. Light, tofu refreshing, but not captivating. Personally, the menu doesn't appeal to me, since I try to avoid soy since it tends to be a pro-estrogen consumable. I don't think they had to box themselves in into being a purely tofu-only cafe. They could sell tofu products, and also have something simple but repeatedly addictive; like In-n-Out, Wurstkuche, Howling Ray's, Tea Master Matcha Cafe, Savoy, Langer's, etc. The closest idea I can think of that would be forced into tofu would be like really excellent, authentic mabo tofu, agedashi tofu, or like a karaage or Tokyo fried chicken style fried chicken with a mabo tofu dipping sauce, heavy on the ma-la flavors. Hell, I might even stop by more if they imported more car parts, from like Impulse, TRD, or Apex'i. But the way the AE86 market is, it makes more sense to sell online to the global niche. Wonderful atmosphere and mood for the Initial D/MF Ghost/Subaru to Subaru fandom. It was fun just to follow on instagram and catch a glimpse of all the influencer personalities in the car community stopping by. I'll look forward to what their next Project T(ofu) looks like. See you next time, Space (cow) boy. Oh-oh-oh. I need you babe.
