I get all the Buffalove feels when I walk into this place. Old photos of the grain elevators, old businesses and buffalo neighborhoods (maybe too old?). I decided to give this place a try considering the lack of food in the immediate parkside area. There is a bar and they have tons of beer on the list although I haven't gotten too drink happy here yet. It is a neighborhood bar... so don't expect them to be open past 9 pm. The sign says they are closed on Tuesday's but I have walked by other days of the week and they weren't open so I'd definitely call ahead. The staff here has great customer service and they are pretty speedy. I got ye'old and faithful beef on weck. It was just okay - it didn't seem to be on a kummelweck bun; so can they really call it a beef on weck? The Au Jus sauce just didn't hit the mark for me either - the flavor was just off. I seen the soy sauce and gravy in the mix I think but one ingredient over powered it all. It just seemed like I was dipping my sandwich into some plain ol'butter meh. I'm a solid Buffalo girl and beef on weck is kind of our thing. I love it just as much as I love chicken wings; so this was disappointing for me. I don't think I'll be ordering this ever again. On a surprising note the steak hoagies here are pretty damn good they have two or three you can order on the menu and they taste just like those one of a kind bodega delicacies you can only get in your own neighborhood (and they are only $10.00). When it comes to lunch and dinner I think the hoagie is the only thing I would order. I do want to give them one more try and check them out for brunch I've heard the crepes are great. read more

PM has made it to that critical milestone of one year. A few hiccups, quickly corrected, and a dedicated base have balanced the ups and downs of these growing pains. Since opening, they have added Sunday brunch (HUGE portions) and, to keep the neighborhood happy, extended the popular fish dinners to Thursdays as well as well the traditional Friday. I love this restaurant. I love the food. The owners treat me like family. The decor (Buffalonia Historicana) is fun, fascinating and fabulous (remember the Whammy Weenie? it's here). May Parkside Meadow prosper as it enters it's second year. PS...The Bloody Mary will send you into orbit. Very disappointing. I really wanted this place to be good but it gave me no reason to want to come back. I could understand visiting again if I lived around the corner, but there is no reason to drive here. The food was edible, the service was fine and the decoration was interesting. From outside this place looks really cute. The decoration inside is "vintage historic diner". I decided to come here with my girlfriend because we pass by it every day on our way home. For dinner we decided to have the fried avocado appetizer, that was brand new to the menu, and two entrees. My girlfriend had the lamb sandwich and since I couldn't decide what to have, I made my decision based on a previous recommendation, a classic caesar salad with salmon. I had to change the salmon to chicken because their salmon was frozen and it would take too long to thaw. So a chicken caesar salad it was. There was absolutely noting special about it, when they said classic they meant plain. The lamb sandwich was also pretty underwhelming. The appetizer was the best thing we had it was a deep fried avocado with some other things and horseradish sauce. I wish we had split the sandwich or the salad not waisted out money on them. The appetizer was heavy enough for a meal. The service was fine, but maybe next time ask before taking a plate. This restaurant has a very old school Americana vibe and I was really into it. Their food is delicious and their service was really accommodating too. Even though the restaurant was at 1/2 capacity when we went, there was still a lot of life in the restaurant and we really enjoyed that. We had their fish tacos and I highly suggest them. We sampled a few things off their apps menu as well and even got some pretzel sticks to go to enjoy in the park, just across the street. I can't stress enough how important it is to support small businesses like this and keep them alive. You won't regret spending your money here. read more

Decent beer selection. Decent menu variety. My burger was over cooked, but flavorful. Tasty fries. My friend's beef on weck was "ok," but not a standout. A few months back I had brunch. It wasn't bad, but there were service issues. The decor is very "Buffalo," and if you know older folks, I'm sure they will enjoy the walk down memory lane: bottles, crates, photos, newspaper clippings, etc. from a hundred years ago create a warm atmosphere. The burger is $10.95 and comes with chips, not fries. I really do not want to pay a premium for a burger without a premium result. And there are options for "steak house" burgers in Buffalo now that far exceed the product at Parkside. Also, I don't see young families becoming regulars at these price points. It's only my opinion, but I think it's a confusing marketing message: neighborhood bar with higher-than-Elmwood "gastropub" prices. I may eat there once more, just to bring an out of town guest so they can experience the Buffalo nostalgia. I rather wish it was because of the food. read more

This is a cute place, full of Buffalo nostalgia. The two stars are just for that. We were here with friends, our first foray into a restaurant since Covid. We were seated promptly at 5:30 - our reservation time. The place was not packed, which was good. Then the wait began. Two other tables came in, were seated and served. The waitress kept coming to our table apologizing - she said they had too many take out orders and our food would be out soon. I would actually think that seated customers should take preference. She forgot to bring our soup - but neglected to take this off the bill. Our fish fries came out cold, with a very small handful of fries after an hour and a half. We didn't order anything out of the ordinary and no offers for a drink on the house came. We were really disappointed. Won't be going back. read more

I have wanted to come here forever- it always seems like a great idea but somehow it's always overlooked. Finally came in for brunch with some girlfriends. I got the fix and it was so tasty. Eggs and feta in a buttery grilled pita with a side of home fries. So. Much. Yum. I love the fix and I love feta and everything involving feta, so I was super happy to see this on the menu. The menu isn't huge but the selection is good, a nice mixture of sweet and savory items. Our waitress was nice and friendly, but not overly so. My wife and i have been meaning to check this place out for months and we always forget about them, but we finally made it! We came in for brunch, which is Sundays from 11-3. One major downside is the lack of private parking, what with the zoo right across the street. Luckily we found a spot right in front, prime parking real estate. We arrived shortly after opening and it wasn't very busy yet. I ordered the Buffalo Amore crepes- Nutella and banana stuffed breakfast is my favorite kind of breakfast. They were good, but the chocolate sauce they put on top was a bit overkill. It tasted like Hershey's syrup and really wasn't all that necessary. Otherwise they were very tasty. Our waitress was the perfect mix between and attentive to our needs and giving us our space, which i always appreciate. I tried to stop in earlier this year when Parkside Meadow first opened, but the wait was too long, so I left. When I stopped by on a recent Friday night, it was busy but there was no wait. The space is pretty nice. The decorations make it look a bit dated, not a newly opened restaurant. However, I get the aesthetic they for and it would be enjoyable for someone taking a trip down memory lane to when Buffalo was in its prime. There were 3 in my party. We each started with a beer, 12 oz or 16 oz. As it was a Friday in Buffalo, fish fry was the daily special. There were many options to pick from. One person in my party got a fish fry and enjoyed it. The other person got a side of fries and the empenada appetizer as a meal. No complaints there. I got a reuben, which came with fries and a (sweet) pickle. The sandwich was pretty tasty, the meat was tender, not chewy as I feared based on some comments in the reviews. Our server was pleasant and helpful. No complaints there. Overall, it was a good experience. I won't be going out of my way to come back, but I'm happy to support a local restaurant and anticipate I will be here again. read more

I was there with a group of friends(group of 9) for lunch. I ordered the Russell Street Turkey Club which has a fried egg in the sandwich. It was not an even distribution of the foods that were supposed to be in the sandwich. It is a club sandwich, so 3 pieces of bread and cut in large triangle quarters. My first quarter had no dill Mayo, no tomato, no lettuce, no egg and only a small piece of bacon, and the turkey. There is supposed to be a fried egg on top of the sandwich. I had egg in only two of the quarters, and one of the other quarters had only a tiny fraction of a slice of tomato and piece of lettuce. While not a real fan of mayo, this sandwich clearly needed some in each quarter as the total sandwich, even the "more complete" quarters with the turkey, lettuce, tomato, bacon and some egg, were pretty dry....or another leaf of lettuce! I do not think it is difficult to layer a sandwich so that the ingredients are spread evenly, even if not a Club sandwich. Another woman in our group ordered the same sandwich. She said hers was more evenly distributed, food-wise, but also dry. She had a pickle on her plate; I did not. I will say that the fries were very good; they were nicely seasoned and the right temperature when served. I have eaten here once before, for dinner, and was not impressed then. The minute I walked in the door I felt like I belonged. Seriously! My name could have been "Norm" and I could have walked right onto the set of "Cheers". I was immediately greeted, and even Nancy, the super friendly owner came by to say "hello". The place is warm and welcoming. It's super casual, but the nice touch of fresh flowers on each of the tables in the dining room was not overlooked by me. And, the collection of Buffalo memorabilia all around (and even under the glass table tops) added a great ambiance. The menu is full of traditional favorites.... chicken wings and salads and burgers and beef on weck.... and a quite a few more inventive items such as artichoke & eggplant empanadas, a shaved lamb melt, and an entree of horseradish salmon. It was difficult deciding, but then (bonus) a gigantic fish fry was brought to a neighboring table and my decision was made. My beer battered haddock was large enough for three (!!!) people to share, super fresh, and cooked to perfection. It was served with tasty french fries and cold slaw. Super yummy! read more

Went there for lunch this week Got there shortly after opening hoping to get in and out. Ordered chicken wings extra crispy, onion rings, a chicken sub to split with a friend. Service was slow, waitress did not know much about the specials, food took a bit to come out and do not understand why because it was just a sub, wings and onion rings.... anywho, food was returned because it was not properly cooked. second time it came back was no different than the first.:( The decor was ok , but the fans above the tables were covered in dust . I've been to Parkside Meadow twice, for Sunday brunch and for Saturday lunch. I want to like the place more: service is friendly, it's close to two attractions (the Zoo and the Martin House), and the decor is great. But I can't. I wasn't too impressed after our first visit for brunch. While our food (the spinach and feta omelet and the panettone French toast) was fine, service was disorganized-we waited a long time at the hostess podium to be acknowledged seated even though there were free tables, and then waited a while to order. The staff was apologetic and explained that a waitress had called in sick that morning. I understand that happens, but I don't think it was handled very well that day. Tables were served out of order; people who were definitely seated before us and looked ready to order weren't asked for their order until after we had put in ours. It would be nice if the Sunday brunch menu also had a few sandwiches or other more lunch-type dishes on it. People who aren't fans of egg-y dishes (like my husband), don't have a lot of options. Based on our brunch experience, I wouldn't have returned, but we were famished after a two-hour tour of the Martin House, and Parkside Meadow happened to be the closest restaurant. Luckily it was Saturday, so we had a bigger menu to choose from than for Sunday brunch. No complaints about the service on our second visit, but I was a little peeved about the food this time. The pricing is uneven; my portobello burger was just two dollars less than my husband's lamb melt. The amount of lamb in his sandwich was pretty generous, but the mushrooms in my burger were skimpy, and I had more bun than anything. I've been a vegetarian for a long time, and I don't really know how much meat costs anymore, but I'm pretty sure mushrooms are much cheaper. We're also not sure why he got a pickle spear and I didn't, since I've never met a meaty dill pickle, but I didn't care enough to complain. I would come back to Parkside Meadow if I were visiting the Zoo or the Martin House again, since the food is decent, but otherwise, I'd try my luck elsewhere. read more

I keep trying to like this place more but I just can't. I have had one good meal and the others have been okay...nothing special, and my most recent visit was bad. Parkside Meadow has a cozy pub atmosphere and the historic Buffalo memorabilia that decorates the place is fun to see and read. It's the kind of place you want to go in fall or winter. They have a patio, but I've yet to see it used in the summer. The service is inconsistent. On my most recent visit, it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive (a tuna melt and lentil wrap) but we didn't even get a "sorry about the wait" or a "the kitchen is backed up" while we sat wondering. Then, the tuna melt tasted like a jar of relish instead of tuna. But we also didn't get asked if everything was alright. In the past, I haven't had quite so bad an experience but it also has not been good enough for me to write this off as a fluke. Being a restaurant I can walk to, I keep trying to like it but I may soon give up. read more

This was our first visit following a trip to the zoo. Service was great and the new owners have done a great job renovating. It looks so much nicer than any of the previous places. The poutine was great, so much better than a lot of other places around. The shaved lamb sandwich was pretty good but the lamb was a bit chewy. The Reuben had the same issue, the meat was a little chewy. The mac n cheese was rather rich and not really what we expected...not the creamy sauce that you would think, it tasted "broken". A friend told us to stop here for lunch after touring the Martin House. I'm glad we did! It's full of Buffalo memorabilia and is a comfortable stop right across from the Zoo. I heard it used to be an annoying college hang but there's no sign of that currently. I had a salad and hubby had a beef on weck (he'd not had that before). I probably steered him wrong on that one, as the beef was not really notable, neither was the kimmelweck. There are better places to get this type of iconic Buffalo dish, but it was "fine." My Harvest Salad was as well - greens, roasted sweet potato, walnuts, bleu cheese and a vinaigrette made from Concord grapes (which is why I ordered it). Service was adequate, the atmosphere is fun and comfortable, the prices are pretty high. It's worth going just to look at all the items displayed everywhere. This place has been open for a couple years and I have gone many times. Why I ask myself. The atmosphere is great and close. They have collected and displayed the best Buffalo Souvenirs. It's in the neighborhood so nice to walk. IF only they would have spent as much time training the kitchen. I've tried and tried and have gone at least 10 different times hoping it was just a fluke, but no. Over cooked, under cooked, too salty, dry, burger cooked in middle raw outside?? You name it. Love having a neighborhood restaurant to walk to that brings you back in time. Step into this restaurant and go back to Buffalo in the 1890-1920s. So much history on the walls and tables - its a museum and restaurant all in one. The menu consists of numerous sandwiches with delicious fries on the side. The few salad and entree options are a hit. Numerous beers on drafts...majority local brews. Their specialty drink (inspried by Balls Vodka and South Park)...chocolate salty balls martini. Never have I ever ordered a drink and felt like it was served strong enough until I got this. This restaurant is brand new and you wouldn't notice any small kinks they might be working out. The wait staff is great, owners /management are on site and making their rounds, and the patrons are all genuinely excited to be there. I anticipate this being my new hangout spot for years to come! read more

This local place is a fantastic find! The owners slaved away at making this place a local treasure for over two years - renovating, decorating and refining their menu. The decor has hundreds of Buffalo memorabilia and treasures from the past including barrels, beer. Torke's, stock certificates, maps and photos that take you on a tour through time. The booths are homey and old school. The food is delicious, reasonably priced and made to order. Everything is served specific to your requests. Don't like mayo, no problem! Was the slaw too creamy, how about some fries? My only minor complaint is that they feature a couple of gourmet cocktail mixed drinks that are not particularly good with ingredients, like the local rum, that is not always available and the bartenders try to substitute something else in and they just don't taste good. When they use the run that's featured (tried on my second attempt at the cocktail), it tastes like rubbing alcohol. My tip is to avoid the special cocktails, stick with the usuals (beer, wine, vodka club) and come for the food and decor. The beer is very reasonably priced. I am so excited that this place finally opened since it's within walking distance and I feel like it has been undergoing renovations for quite a while. It was totally worth the wait. Awesome, historic decor, friendly and efficient waitstaff, yummy reasonably priced food. We were here for Sunday brunch with a group from hockey. The kids as well as the parents enjoyed it. My eggs (I got the fix = scrambled eggs with feta in a pita) were light, fluffy and not overcooked... Yea! The coffee was pretty good too and they kept it coming, eventually leaving us our own carafe which I love. The kids devoured their French toast which came with real maple syrup (so much better than the fake stuff!). I can't wait to come back and try their regular menu. :-) read more

As far as the owner's Len's comment; if you don't serve Guinness, then why did your server tell me you did? Why did she let me order it? Why didn't she come back to the table in the 40 minutes I was there? From what I can tell, you seem to be a decent person; why would you alienate customers by defending staff that are not up to par and are actively ruining your business? I would absolutely try your restaurant again (and update my review accordingly) if you weren't so openly hostile to a valid criticism. Update: Len, not sure why you "bumped" your comment; but seeing as you have now been open nearly 2 years you might want to revise that part of your statement at least. From what I see elsewhere on here it looks like you had some staffing issues at the time, so maybe that was the problem. Again, I never said anything bad about you or your restaurant; just pointed out that one of your staff provided poor customer service. I stand by what I said previously; I would absolutely be willing to come back in and try the place again (and change my review accordingly), but frankly, I'm baffled by your rude, unhelpful response to a very valid concern. The friendly owners and cheerful welcome get five stars, as does the Buffalo memorabilia. This is a great place for neighborhood people to socialize over a drink, and I can see how Parkside folks are delighted it opened. The lighting in the main dining room and the food get three stars. I honestly can't remember when I was in such unflattering light, both bright and greenish. As for the food, I ordered the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with coleslaw and pickled onions. It arrived on a huge white roll with tons of decently cooked meat, topped with some slaw, a few onions, and a generous helping of warm potato chips. It tasted as if the meat had been cooked in a slow cooker without any spices. There was no BBQ sauce of any kind. The whole thing was flavorless and visually unappealing. While the chips were fine, they are not a typical food choice for me, so most of them remained uneaten. I might go back for their fish fry since it gets consistently good reviews. read more

If you love the city of Buffalo, then Parkside Meadow is definitely a place you'll want to visit! The entire restaurant it covered in old Buffalo items such as banners, photos, old receipts, etc. Even the tables have materials to look at under the glass. You'll want a different spot every visit. I was determined to go when I saw another Yelper post a photo of an empanada. I had to have it. This empanada was different than any other one I have ever had since it's Artichoke and Eggplant empanada. It came with a red sauce to dip in and it was delicious! I ordered the Turkey Club Sandwich with homemade potato chips as my entree. I'm usually disappointed when I see a sandwich comes with chips but this was the first time I ever really enjoyed them. The chips were delicious because it was a mix of chips that were slightly soft and chips with a big crunch. I thought the sandwich was pretty average so I would want to order something else next time. I really want to go back just so I could sit at another table and get a different view of the restaurant. Parkside Meadow just opened up by the Buffalo Zoo and is a cozy and historically stimulating dining experience. When entering your greeted by a friendly hostess. My boyfriend Dan and I had to wait for our table and its convenient because the bar is right when you walk in and you can look at all the historical artifacts they have hanging up from Buffalo's history. They even have a digital picture frame on the wall with multiple photographs changing from Buffalo's history. The dinning room is very cozy. The lighting was not to bright so that made it more relaxing. I enjoyed the music too! Not too loud but fun to listen too!! Menu: Everything on the menu looked exceptional! I appreciated the fact the menu wasn't a book! Short and simple.. I went with the hush puppy fish fry. Instead of the fries I asked for a side salad (wish was a good size with multiple fresh veggies) then went with the lemon poppy seed vinaigrette- AMAZINGG! That dressing is made in house! The hushpuppy fish fry was large and very tasty. I shared some with Dan! The tarter sauce is the best I've ever had! Tasted homemade..and the coleslaw was very good (not too much mayo- way I like it). Dan ordered the burger with fries. The burger was cooked to his liking and he ordered it with harvarti cheese, lettuce, and tomato. I tasted it and was blown away. His fries were crispy and fresh also. We will both be back to the Parkside meadow again and again! The service, setting was exceptional and of course the food. You can tell a lot of time and effort was put into everything and boy did it pay off! Next time I think I'll try their lamb sandwich with harvarti cheese. The prices aren't bad at all either! Parkside Meadow has exactly what I'm looking for in a neighborhood pub: great food at a reasonable price, a cozy, low-key atmosphere, friendly people, and a solid beer selection. Full disclosure: I've been eagerly awaiting the opening of this restaurant for nearly two years. I've been dying for a good pub within walking distance, so even if the food proved mediocre, I was sure to be a regular. Knowing the true litmus test was a real Buffalo fish fry, I ordered it hush-puppy battered (there were three other broiled options that I'm eager to try as well). I was immediately impressed by the quality of my dish! The fish was HUGE and flaky, and the hush puppy batter was crisp and sweet. I consider myself a fish fry connoisseur, and while this take wasn't so unconventional that it would offend traditionalists, the flavor was more complex than most - it was good even without a hearty slathering of tartar sauce. The fresh-cut french fries were a stand-out; some of the best I've had in Buffalo. My only complaint is that I prefer my fish fry with rye bread and "a bit of everything," and other than the fries, this only came with coleslaw (no mac salad or potato option). Perhaps the owners will consider making these additions in the future. My husband ordered the beef on weck and was equally impressed. His weck roll was sturdy and large, which was important, because the beef was piled high. We were both pleased to see local/regional beers on draft, including Big Ditch, Resurgence, Genessee, and Southern Tier. I can't wait to go back for brunch and sample some of the other menu options. Upon entering this establishment, we were immediately greeted and seated by a very friendly woman ( who we later found out was the owner). The pub like atmosphere was both nostalgic and charming. Our booth table was decorated with memories of Buffalo's yesteryears. We were immediately greeted by our server, who was also very friendly. Drinks and menus were brought promptly, and our order was taken as soon as we were ready to place it. The French Onion soup was delicious! , as were our sandwiches (I had the hoagie, my friend the roast beef sandwich). The service was excellent: both the waitress and the owner checked back several times and we even received a Halloween treat. So nice to see a slice of Buffalo survived this pandemic Will definitely return and would highly recommend. read more

I'm reserving final judgement until I can eat there again. I live and work in the area and had been waiting for this place to open ever since I noticed new construction. My first attempt to go on a Friday we left because there was a hour and half wait. Returned early on a weekday and sat right away. The bar was full and the entire place filled up before we left. Definitely the new hot neighborhood place so they must be doing something right. Service was good - personable and attentive server and the manager stopped by. There was something amiss with their POS so running separate checks slowed her down and we had to write in our tips before she ran our cards at the end. No biggie. Grub - decent beer selection. A friend and I went for the beef on weck. Good flavor and bun. But the meat was cut thick and pretty tough and fatty. When I couldn't bite through I tried to cut with a knife - even that didn't work. I felt bad leaving so much meat behind (the manager happened to stop by at that point so we passed on our feedback). The fries were perfectly crispy and I polished them off. Other tablemates - leek pasta was delicious, the pulled pork was too spicy, and the spicy sausage pasta lived up to it's name. Doesn't look like much when you walk past but I was practically dying of hunger when I entered inside. I ordered a large Hamburger with fries and wow, I had no words. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The service was quick and incredible. The staffs were friendly. You'll get a very cozy environment inside the restaurant and the location of the place is just perfect. 10/10 for me. You won't be disappointed! read more

Mmmm. Hot pretzels with beer. A good way to wait for dinner to arrive. We were greeted warmly, seated promptly, and served immediately. It's a pleasant restaurant filled with Buffalo memorabilia. Stopped by to get a quick beer and pretzel before visiting the Wright house. Waited for 45 mins and had to leave without our food. One person was waiting tables. She was very pleasant. Great atmosphere and decorations from Buffalo past! Quiet and food was good. The roast beef sandwich was delicious and had great flavor. The time it took to get your meals was a little long but was worth the wait. Right across from the Buffalo Zoo makes it a great stop before or after your visit! read more

Abysmal service. Waitress said two large parties were ahead of us and apologized for the food taking so long but one of the parties came in well after we had ordered and they received their food prior to our party of two. From what we could tell, we were of the last 3 tables in the restaurant so it's not like they were slammed and we both had omelette a. The waitress never even offered to refill my glass of water, which was mostly empty prior to the food arriving. Food was decent but the portions were lean, not exactly a generous scoop of home fries and if there were 3 eggs in my omelette, I'd have been surprised. But the real deal killer for me was their $6.50 mimosa, served in a 6 oz. champagne glass with a splash of champagne, mostly OJ. If you're going to charge $6.50, you better at least go heavy on the booze. This place marked an unfortunate end to what was otherwise a great Mother's Day afternoon spent at the zoo. We left wishing we had gone to Pano's instead. Although Cole's, Betty's, or Cecilia's would have been upgrades as well. Too many great options in Buffalo to give this place another shot, which is sad given their proximity to the park. Brunch menu is very short as well, maybe 8 options. read more

Five well deserved stars. Cuisine is well prepared. Burgers, beef on weck and wings are on par with the best you'll find in the city. The lighting could be improved in the dining room, it's somewhat bright with shining ceiling fans. But the food is so good, it's easy to overlook. The buffalo memorabilia is remarkable and fun to spend some time checking out. read more
