I like this location. Some items are a little more expensive than other stores nearby, but the selection of higher quality options makes up for it. It's a decent sized market with all the usual staples. What really sets it apart for me is the upstairs space. I've hosted a couple of events here, and there's always been plenty of room and seating. It's never felt too loud, which is nice. I like that people can use the space however they want. When I go with friends, some order from the cafe, some grab baked goods, others just pick up a quick salad or something simple. It makes it easy for everyone to join in at whatever price point they can. Parking is usually good, though I've run into a couple times when the lot was full. Still, I'm glad they have a parking lot. The store is clean, the staff are friendly, and having that upstairs area takes it up a star for me. read more

I like the fact that they are convenient right around the corner and I remember back in the day when I grew up here I was be quick and then that goes later it became Dash's. I think everything is overpriced and I don't like the fact when I walk in the store and I smell fish. That to me it's a total turn off. I love the layout. I love the prepared foods. Love the quality of the vegetables. And everything that they provide. But I don't like the fact that their basket and bowls animals are more expensive than the same brand at Price rite is half the cost. I purchased Baskin and bowls creamer chicken soup. This is a nice location and I enjoy the café seating area upstairs. Dashes often runs specials on pizza and it makes it totally worth it to grab one or two with a couple people for a social outing. The staff has been consistently friendly and I have no reservation shopping here except that the selection on certain things is more limited than I would expect. But usually they have something comparable. Overall, a good option if you're in the area and especially if you take a look at some of their weekly specials. read more

Well, more like a complaint as my annoyance level was such that I felt I had to vent & hopefully someone that represents this store will take into consideration. It's really about very simple customer service. At least in "my day" this was. I realize how difficult it is for people today to provide it. I mean with everything that's going on & all. Here we go... I don't know about everyone else but I am REALLY REALLY REALLY sick of paying out of my ass for stuff that was never as expensive in the past while dealing with sub par service & quality. When I pay $20 for a breakfast sandwich, med coffee, a fruit cup and cottage cheese (I couldn't afford a bottled water & it was like 85° @7:30 am) I expect to not have to ask for sugar and utensils that should have been stocked the night before. Again, & I'm showing my age again, in my day if a store or restaurant manager walked into his/her establishment and heard a customer, an hour after opening, ask for these things, they would have called people into their office & had everyone sign a document promising to restock everything before they leave or before they open. And guess what? It takes 2 min max to do it! I also have a problem with having to clean a toilet that should have been cleaned, again, the night before or before they opened. And how about cleaning in general? As in the tables people eat on? I'd like to know how the supervisors manage to keep their jobs these days when NO ONE CLEANS ANYTHING!? And not just Dash's but EVERYWHERE. The final insult was that on a hot day, after spending $20, I couldn't even sit out on their patio & wait I'm the shade for an uber because the door was locked. The selection is limited but it's a smaller store so that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is the rudeness of the staff. I was cashing out and said hello to the cashier. He had no response so I said hello again. Finally he looked up and said hi. After my transaction there was no "thanks, good bye, have a nice day". Nothing . Dash's is super convenient and super cute inside! The store is set up in an easy-to find fashion and I like that it has a bakery and hot food section right inside. I'm usually at the juice bar, where you can get protein shakes or fruit bowls. It's usually never too busy either when I stop in. I love the açaí fruit bowl. I was in the old Dash's about a million times & finally decided to check the new one out. WOW !! It sure has changed in every way. It's HUGE !! I absolutely loved the bakery section. Everything looked delicious !!!!!! Only looked around a little bit. The prices were higher than the old store, but a bigger variety of some things were there, which is always nice. Then, I traveled upstairs, where there were A Lot of tables & chairs & then what I consider a Banquet Room. I noticed 4 restrooms. 2 upstairs & 2 downstairs. Big screen tv. WiFi Free cold water and cups upstairs. A microwave. Pretty nice, but there was only 1 person up there & I personally didn't take notice of a whole lot you can bring upstairs to eat. The steak and meat selection is probably some of the best in Buffalo for the price. Last time I went they had a deal on porterhouse that made them $15/lb CHEAPER than wegmans, and they were far better. Also the pizzas are amazing and a great price. Wouldn't go for daily necessities, but if you're looking for something specific it's going to be fantastic. read more

Dash's Market is the oddest of ducks. It's big, eclectic, and excels in several areas that many other places in town show little interest in (gourmet salsas, pasta, etc). It's also got pretty expansive hours and a really solid bakery. (I love a good loaf of bread and will return just for that. It's got good products, good variety and excellent prices.) It's a nice resource to have in the neighborhood and within walking distance. But what's up with the prices? Beer is significantly marked up vs. the competition: Founder's All-Day IPA in the 15-pack on "sale" for $19.99? (It's $16.99 regular everywhere else.) The veg brands that we usually buy (Field Roast, Daya, etc.) are also 10-20% more expensive here. I get that smaller stores have to rent their shelf space differently, but Lexington Co-op right down the street is smaller than Dash's and still manages to keep most prices on big-box standards in line with everybody else. So again, Dash's is useful enough that I'll be back, and has a pretty solid produce section as well. It's got a deli counter, a seafood counter, a coffee shop, and all the tools to make it essentially a one-stop shop. But given the cost, I'll still have to make a separate trip to Wegman's on Amherst for some of the weekly standards. read more

I've been too busy eating Dash's Philly Cheesesteak Sub almost every other day from Dash's on Hertel! I'm not lying either. I've ordered this sub 5 times in the past two weeks. This sub is absolutely LOADED with quality steak that local pizzerias just don't offer. Meat to bread ratio is unequaled from other sub shops. It comes with banana peppers, mushrooms, and onions. The sub is always toasted perfectly on a fresh Dash's roll and it's comparable in size to a Wegman's full sub. I said it from the first bite and I'll continue to stand by it's side...this is the best steak sub in Buffalo! read more

So Dash's is a great neighborhood market - it's on the smaller side so they may not carry everything you're looking for, but you can certainly get what you need. Some of their prices are higher than other stores (they sell plantain by the POUND ‍) but they have a great store-made tomato soup that's half the price of Wegman's. What I'm writing about is their breakfast sandwich... gotdamn! It's SO good and it's on a freshly made English muffin. It has ruined packaged English muffins for me... forever. First time here over the weekend and thought the grocery store was great. Big prepared food section too with sooo many soups for sale and some nice breakfast options like Acai bowls and various eggs/breakfasts/bagels. Avocados/grapefruits priced well, chicken thighs were good. Seafood was fresh. On the expensive side were mushrooms, canned goods (tomato sauces, etc), spices, etc. I'd skip for pantry items, but don't be afraid to come here for fish/meat and some fresh vegetables (although fresh fungi may be a tad overpriced). Overall, definitely a fan of Dash's. If the prices were slightly more competitive on certain items I'd probably be here more often. read more

Every once in a while we make a special trip to Dashes. It's not our everyday market as it's a little pricey in some areas. The produce and meat departments are great. Was super excited that Dash's served Publics coffee, so I ordered a Latte made breve. My first sign of disaster should've been when the girl working said "I don't think I've ever made that". I told her to make a latte but use Half&Half instead of milk. I watched her steam the milk to beyond boiling point. I couldn't even pick up the cup with the sleeve on it. Yikes. But let's be honest- 6pm on Thursday, one teenager working coffee and the dessert counter, phone ringing and 2 people in line behind me. However we didn't end up getting much because their prices on most the items we wanted were higher than we expected, likely because we normally opt for store brands and Dash's didn't offer their own brand for some of the items we were looking for. Pros: easy parking, lots of selection considering the small store size, great produce quality, and excellent meat selection. Dash's has been around for many years and my old place of employment used them all the time for catering. The food was always fresh and delicious. This new built grocery store is huge. It reminds me of a Wegmans. They have a flower shop, coffee shop, prepared foods, sushi, deli, salad bar etc. in addition to the fully stocked shelves. I love the Dash's on Colvin. Just the right size. I can get my produce, cold cuts , bakery items etc. I hate the larger grocery store with over 30 aisles of things I don't need. You can't beat the steaks here. I love their ribeyes. Never ever had a bad one. Throw the Montreal seasoning on , and better than any you get at the local restaurants. read more

While it certainly will take some getting used to, I'm giving Dash's a solid 4 stars. The only reason it's at 4, and not 5, is because the parking lot is a hot mess. I know that with the way that everything is set up, they were limited in how they could make the lot, but it's just a hard design to get around. The other lot was just as small, but the set up made it easy for one to pull right in, and then pull right out. This store is larger than your tiny little convenient shop at the corner, like the old Dash's, but smaller than the large grocery stores that most people prefer to avoid. The produce, meats, and baked goods are all fresh and look and taste wonderful. Prices have jumped up a little bit, but not enough to where it will drastically change your bill. The cafe offers a large selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pizza, etc. They also have the prepared foods, which I love. Their kale salad is one of my absolute faves! They've got a pretty good soup selection. I haven't been disappointed by any of the baked goods, their croissants are so buttery and flaky. It's very clean, and well taken care of. The cashiers are very friendly, and with the exception of the cafe, I've never had to wait very long. In regards to the cafe wait time, I wish they'd have just a line for people who just want a regular coffee, so they could get in and out. Other drinks, i.e. the cafe frozen mocha with caramel and 9 other add-ins, take time. Meanwhile, there's someone (cough) who is just trying to get a large black coffee and leave. read more

This supermarket has really re-invented themselves! I live nearby and I was so pleased that they were finally reopening in the new facility. Ran in for a some vegetables on a Wednesday after work, to hold me over/complete my week (since I'm 'TRYING' to eat healthier). But for some reason, it is almost impossible to just grab what you came to the store for! I really do enjoy shopping here for several reasons: it's not insanely busy, so you can get in/out real quick!!! The store is very organized, and not a disheveled mess like some other stores, and most importantly VERY CLEAN! Furthermore, the employees are friendly and attentive. The biggest downside would only be their prices. Some items are much more expensive than at other stores, but I guess for the convenience and cleanliness, sometimes you get what you pay for...right? I think the new Dash's as a grocery is terrific, but I went there today with a group of friends for lunch. I thought that picking 2 slices of pizza, two different topping, was a great idea. I ordered, paid and went upstairs for my warmed up pizza slices to be delivered. I was very disappointed as neither of my slices was hot; they were both barely warm. My friends' lunches, whether soup or salads or subs or sandwiches were all better looking. Everyone seemed very happy with their lunch choices. The new Dash's opened just a couple of days ago. The store looks great, on the outside and in. The building is lit up in the evening and really makes it stand out. Now this store has a Spot coffee counter with breakfast. Try their French toast! There is also a counter for pizza, made fresh in a special oven, sandwiches and a variety of soups. Last but not least a salad bar. The seating area is upstairs and includes a balcony with a view over Hertel Avenue. read more

The Colvin location needs to train on how to make pizzas. Having ordered pizza from the Hertel location many times, tonight I was closer to the Colvin location and ordered two pizzas, one was the Main St and the other was Downtown. These were two of the worst pizzas that I have ever ordered. The ingredient quality was ok, but the person who made the pizza had no idea on how to make a pizza. They should of been 16" pizzas or close but both doughs were formed much closer to a 12" pie. One was shaped like and oval, where the center was almost paper thin and the outside super thick. On top of that they didn't come close to spreading the toppings around the pizza and they cut it in strange shapes, that left some pieces larger than a quarter of the pie and others that were less than 1/8th of the pie. The second pizza was shaped a little better, but they still left the center of the pie super thin and the outer edges were thick. Again it looks like they just threw the sauce and topping on with little thought or care. Additionally on this pie they cooked it on top of something that was left burnt in the oven and then placed the burnt crud stuck to the bottom crust in the box and served it that way. The stuck crud had to be 1/8' thick by 6-to-8-inch shape attach in the center of the bottom crust. I would have been better off ordering from Domino's then these pies, not because of the quality of ingredients but they at least know how to make a pizza. I will just keep ordering the pies from Hertel they are great, but I will never order pizza from this location again and I will tell everyone I know not to order pizza from this location. read more

Every time I have used Dash's services, I am blown away by their professionalism and kindness. I live in PA and this week was my mom's birthday. She lives in Buffalo and in the past, we struggled to find a way to celebrate her properly. Last Mother's Day, Dash's came in clutch and had a prompt and gorgeous flower delivery when another store cancelled on us last minute so we tried them again. And once again, they saved the day!
