I always loved to going to Parkers, but not so much this trip. I went there with my boyfriend (his first time there) and I always raved about it so I wanted him to experience it for himself. We got seated and our waitress came up and introduced herself. I noticed right away she had a very long ponytail which was not pinned up or in a ponytail in the back of her head, it was in a ponytail coming from the top of her head so she hung it down over her left shoulder. When she walked it swayed from side to side. She brought over our orange juices and bent over to place them on the table and her ponytail almost went into my juice. I very nicely made a joke with her but to bring to her attention "you have to watch that ponytail, it almost got in my juice". Next our food came, I ordered the stuffed french toast and as she was walked over with it in her left hand I watched her ponytail sitting on the top of my french toast. I didn't say anything to her when she placed it down because I was angry and I didn't want to be mean to her. I took the top pieces of french toast off my plate and tried to pick through the meal and make the best of it, but it just didn't work. I left the french toast and shared my boyfriends meal with him. We went here for a late breakfast after researching for a place to buy maple syrup and found this place. It turned out that we went here 10 years ago. I love the fact that this place is accessible through local roads only and is in the middle of the woods! Daughter had the Eggs Irish and thought it was ok. At first, we thought it was a little cold but realized that her dish was probably the first to be done and sat there waiting for our orders to be ready. Hubs ordered the Eggs Florentine and thought it was ok. He also ordered a side of beans and didn't care for it. I had the Stuffed French Toast with Bananas at the recommendation of our waitress. It wasn't stuffed. It was more like a French Toast sandwich. The bananas were mashed with the cream cheese and smeared in between the French Toast. Kind of a disappointment. Both the Eggs Irish and Stuffed French Toast came with a side of home fries.Service was VERY SLOW. Most of the time, we couldn't find our waitress and there wasn't much business at the time we were there. Kind of makes you go hmmmmmm...... we have been local regulars for over 25 years and have seen many changes . Some good most not so good. Portions have shrunk , never have hot water to wash you hands after the restroom, a cold waiting area, usually cold food when it is busy ,for families with small children you have to pay for an extra plate to share your food. Now not even enough SYRUP for a single 6'' pancake which were at least 12 '' 20 years ago, You Have To PAY for more syrup just to enjoy an already expensive breakfast!!!! What is a diabetic doing in Parkers ? Well for one thing while waiting endlessly for a table...browsing around in their gift shop I found the best sugar free chocolates and fudge ! - I enjoyed the surrounding, the carved Totem Poles, the little bridge and the homsey warmth of a large barn in the middle of the woods. The drawback is waiting ..and waiting.. only once did I hit it 'right' and that was a great experience. The make awesome cinnamon buns which I dont think was mentioned. Parkers is one of those experiences you just cannot have if your in the city or suburbia so that alone is intriguing and resonates. Best time of year is spring when the sap is running. This was our first time dining at Parker's. We have been there many years ago to watch the making of maple syrup when our sons were young, but didn't eat there. We have since moved to the Boston area. My husband thought it would be fun for his birthday if we drove out to Mason for breakfast to celebrate. First, I want to say that we really were looking forward to what we thought was going to be a fantastic meal. I will start with the pancakes. We ordered blueberry and buttermilk. They were the size of frisbees and as tough as one. It was obvious to us that they were frozen and were not made on the premises. Now come on, this place is famous for their wonderful breakfasts. How difficult is it to make your own pancakes? They came with 2 tiny (and I do mean tiny) bottles of Parker's famous maple syrup. The syrup was watered down to the point of being tasteless. We are not claiming to be connoisseurs of maple syrup, but we do know the difference between real and watered down. We were leery when the coffee came to the table and it was bad. Three of us ordered bacon, scrambled eggs and hash brown. My husband ordered the same, but with sausages. What can I say? The eggs were cold, and it was obvious that none of the food was homemade. How difficult is it to make homemade pancakes and hash browns? The sausages came from the freezer too. I just don't understand all the great feedback from previous customers. Believe me, we are not fussy eaters, but everything was not even mediocre. Needless to say, we will not be dining at Parker's again. I've been here 3 times. As I write this I've been waiting 1hr and 25 minutes to be seated. The food is good, but if you come on a weekend be prepared to wait until your following birthday for service. Limited places to sit outside, no complimentary coffee, and the donut barn has been out of service for years. But man, the buckwheat blueberry pancakes almost make the wait worthwhile. read more

It is Spring and the maple sap is flowing despite several inches of snow on the ground. My wife and I visited Parker's Maple Barn in Mason, NH on Maple Weekend: a time for education, fun, and good eats. Because of the celebration, the Maple Barn was quite busy and we had an ~hour wait to be seated for brunch. It was well worth the drive from the Boston area and well worth the wait. While waiting to be seated, we visited the Barn's country store for novelties and, of course, maple products galore. We also took the brief yet educational tour of the Barn's sugar house to see how maple syrup is made from maple sap (the guide was great). The rustic Barn restaurant is quite large and it can apparently accommodate banquet functions. It was a nice atmosphere. Good for families and couples alike. We had the Parker Specials with 2 ~8-inch pancakes of your choice (I had blueberry; wife had maple walnut), homefries, 2 pc bacon, 2 pc sausage, 2 eggs, 1 ham, and 2 toasts served with delicious warm Grade A Dark Amber maple syrup. Yes! A very hearty meal! I was satisfied for the whole day. The pancakes just melted in your mouth and the maple syrup coffee was fantastic! The homefries were great with seasoning comparable to seasoned curly fries. I would have loved to have tried the maple ribs, maple-baked beans, and the rest of the menu. The wait staff were attentive and nice. I totally recommend this place. I love breakfast and I love Parker's! read more

Went to Parker's for the first time. My friend and I drove the 1.5 hour drive to Mason NH. The wait time is long, but worth the wait. I want to stress... This is a BREAKFAST SPOT, NOT A LUNCH SPOT. I have gone here on my visits back east every year. I found it while in search of maple syrup to bring back with me. Restaurant has been pretty good but this year (10/7/12) I was really disappointed. The maple syrup they serve is so watered down I wondered if it was even real! The service was good, food ok. Huge crowd at 8:30 am, bigger yet when we left. Not sure if I'll go back there next year. Went here for the first time with friends a few weeks ago. It was packed for Sunday breakfast. We arrived around 10:00 and waited nearly an hour for a table. But that is to be expected almost anywhere at 10:00 on a Sunday morning. Our server was a little bit fast, kind of rushed us through ordering and ran away quickly before my friend had a chance to ask for maple coffee instead of regular coffee. Also, I asked for regular french toast but she brought me deep fried french toast... Which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten for breakfast. It was so good, I ended up wishing that I got a larger order of it! The maple syrup is home made and heavenly. I don't even like maple syrup that much, and never put it on my breakfast food. But this was very tasty. The home fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and seasoned perfectly with cajun spices. All of our food was delivered hot and quickly. They have a little gift shop with all kinds of home made sauces, jellies, jams, candies, and of course, maple syrup, among many other crafts and gifts and such. Will definitely return. read more

We have been coming for 30 years and have never been disappointed. We even came for a Christmas dinner with my husband's department and the food was very good. The portions are large and the food is very good. My husband and I had leftovers for breakfast the next morning. Going to Parker's is all about the experience of Maple Sugaring season. The folks who make the syrup are more than willing to answer questions and explain the process. We are fortunate that we can go during the week as the wait times are quite long on the weekend. read more

Very disappointed. I've been driving there from Maine, 6 times a year, for the past 35 years. It was always the best, but things have changed. A few years ago they went from making their own huge sausage patties to a commercial product. And more recently the pancakes have gotten smaller and smaller. For years, we've been telling friends how good this place was. Finally got them over there last week, and to our embarrassment, the pancakes were 1/4" thick on paper plates. Maybe they're trying to keep prices down, but I'd pay more for the quality product they're known for. I won't go back until I read things have improved. read more

We eat out a lot and can honestly say worst disappointment in years. A busy Saturday morning. No problem - happy to go spend $50. In the gift shop while we wait. We were called and seated. Great coffee and tea. Great "breakfast appetizers". Ordered breakfast, enjoyed the company and atmosphere. Fun barn, lots to look at. Food arrived. Drop and go waitress. My boyfriend takes a bite of potato. It's cold. He says put your hand on this pancake-it was not only cold, it was hard. My meal was cold as was the side of hash. Waitress is no where to be found. We each try and eat it. Just not working. Still no waitress. She shows up and says "can I get you a check and some boxes?" We told her it was all cold. She didn't seem surprised. Apologized. Took some French toast off the bill. We paid the remaining 40.00 bill and left. Not sure where the disconnect was, perhaps they don't have a good system to let waitresses know when meals are ready to be put on the table. We spent 10 days in NH and Mass and Parker's Maple Barn was by far the best. Great pancakes, wonderful meats, biscuits, great omelets. The best by far was the true maple syrup and the coffee, the best I have ever had. Yes you have to wait on weekends but it is well worth the wait. It was beautiful fall day and we did not mind the 90 minute wait. While waiting we enjoyed coffee and maple doughnuts. The food was yummy... ribs, pancakes, turkey dinners, eggs and hash.... the portions were were good! However...the service was TERRIBLE and despite our several attempts to be overly polite to our waitress (Linda) she remained cranky and condescending. So despite the beginning of a fun day and good food...we left Parker's feeling disappointed...and even though the food was good....we gave them two stars because service is a BIG part of the dinning out experience. read more

First let me state the positive - the atmosphere is charming and the gift shop is worth a tour through it. You would believe the draw should be the syrup and/or pancakes but both are mediocre at best. I fail to understand how any first time visitor could become a second time visitor let alone a regular. There is nothing whatsoever that comes out of the kitchen to warrant that. The service was appalling even at a less than average busy junction of the week/day. Hands down, my FAVORITE breakfast place! Love the rustic, barn motif in the restaurant; it's warm, cozy and lots of unique items to look at! And the food is delicious!! My favorite is the stuffed french toast (which has a "monthly special" different each month) - it is amazing! Homefries and coffee are great too! And of course, you have to enjoy their homemade maple syrup - which is made right on the property! During maple sugaring season you can actually have a small tour and see how they make the syrup! I love the gift shop as well and have purchased many unique items there (it is always a must visit when I go for breakfast)! The only very slight downside to Parker's is because it is so amazing and delicious, that sometimes they get wicked busy - and it is first come first serve.... So if you plan on going on a weekend or a holiday, give yourself extra time and you can take a look at the gift shop or come early! Just be prepared for a wait of some sort and you will never be disappointed! (I like to come early in the morning and it is always enjoyable with generally no waiting.) Customer service is pleasant and someone always stops by your table to get your drink order while you look over the menu. Can not emphasize how much I love this place!! So I've been here in the past. And let me tell you I'm unhappy with the dumbest changes. Take for example. Why charge $2.00 extra for an additional plate? Another change is just the most outrageous I've ever heard. When you order a meal, you should be allowed to pick what you want for a substitute!!! It used to be simple. But not anymore. Want a plain pancake? Or a seasonal flavor? Can't have one of each!!!! Has to be one or the other. Never have I felt neglected or abused in the manner. And what happened to getting a mug that says Parker's Maple Barn? Got rid of those too? And our waitress looked like she was having a bad day!!! I can't wait to leave here and never return. This place went down hill and fast. And there's no point in trying to redeem themselves. I asked a manager why I can't choose the flavored pancakes. He responded with what surprised me with this: "we've never done that before! The cooks are just too busy!" Really? Are you serious? So Tell me then, how come I can order individual items how ever I like, and get it that way? And yet when I order a meal I can't do that!!! When you walk in to meet a dozen people, handicapped and trying tame a toddler, and have a host that won't even offer a chair to sit in while waiting for the party to arrive, it curbs your appetite. I understand the policy but they could politely (rather than shrugging as if to say "I don't know, it's your problem" when asked where we should go to wait) offer accommodations until ready for seating. Had my family not been driving from 40minutes away, I would have left. There's no cooking in this world good enough to make up for lack of manners and courtesy. Breakfast dishes cost no more than $2 to make and costs 8-10x that at a restaurant. The mark up in price is for the services which this place lacks. It's not worth the drive or the money. read more

Very disappointed. I have been coming here for breakfast for forty years and always enjoyed it EVERY time with the exception of the last two times. Once in June 2017 and again in September 2017. Big changes in the food, service, and cost. They eliminated their signature thick sourdough toast, one must pay extra for the maple syrup which comes in small nip bottles whereas they used to give you a small pitcher before with no extra charge. Maple cream for each party is also gone although that has been gone for sometime now, also an extra charge. The bacon is now precooked and hard, the pancakes heavy, grainy, and not very tasty, bread is thin and ordinary, and the food has been cold by the time it is received. Service has varied. I am sure this is all due to cost cutting and perhaps loss of seasonal staff. $20 for breakfast should consist of very good quality. Unfortunately, I will not be going back until I hear of vast improvements. I also believe this place will suffer from these bad decisions. I almost gave 1 star, that is how deteriorated the food quality has become. This review was painful to write. C'mon Man! read more

I went there this past Sunday (March 22, 2015) morning. I drove from Boston (about an hour and 50 minutes). The Google directions were good. The parking lot (and it's pretty big) was full. I went inside and put my name on the wait list. I was told an hour and 40 minutes wait. I wasn't doing anything after breakfast, so the wait was okay. A good way to kill time is to first attend the lecture on the history of New Hampshire Maple and then the lecturer brings you next door where you get to see how the sap is turned into syrup. After that you can kill more time by going to their store. I spent over $300 on Grade B syrup and maple cream. The cream is to spread on food. The 4 gallons of Grade B syrup is for mixed cocktails. I usually buy this syrup at fairs like The Big E, but fugured I would get it here instead. TIME FLIES and shortly after my shopping (and bringing bags back to the car) my name was called from the Wait List. I was seated. The table and floor was really clean! (I work at a breakfats diner in Malden (Mass.) that gets pretty busy with messy parents and even messier kids. They obviously take the time tio clean tables and floors THOROUGHLY before seating new parties. The waitress was fine. I ordered and was served within 10 minutes. It was all delicious. I took leftovers home. I don't know WHEN i'll be back, but the next time i go to the New Hampshire State Liquor Store in Nasua, I'll stop by Parker's as well. I was witn two other people who also thoroughly enjoyed themselves. My only issue with this trip to Parker's Maple Barn was the unseasonably cold weather for this time of year. Packers maple barn is a great breakfast option for the area! On the weekend the wait we can be long (we waited an hour and 45 minutes once!!) but luckily they have an interesting country store jam packed with homemade maple syrups, candies, and tons of trinkets to help you pass the time! The deep fried French toast is AMAZING and so is the breakfast sausage... And everything else was pretty good too. I ordered the packers special: 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, ham, homefries, and toast. I wish they gave you two pieces of toast instead of one - today my over easy eggs were way too easy and I had runny slop all over my plate with no toast to help soak it up... Not even sure I would have eaten it with a second piece of toast as the runny parts were really raw, and I always order over easy. Not a big deal though! Everything else is still delicious but next time I will order over medium just to be safe! read more

Parker's is certainly off the beaten path but worth the trip. Set in a converted barn the decor is homey and entertainingly New England. Come late for breakfast cause this place opens at 8am but not too late cause it closes at 2pm. Breakfast is served all day but lunch doesn't start till 11:30. We arrived a little after 11 and were hungry for lunch but the breakfast offerings made us all happy. Well, almost... Being particularly fond of home made corned beef hash we were excited to read about their "famous" version but disappointed to learn they were out! We were hopeful that the Ham Hash would be "just as good" but it proved to be a bit dry and not very flavorful. Enough of the not great... The Parker's Mini Special was fantastic! A gigantic slice of French Toast with exactly the right amount of cinnamon and the maple syrup was delightful. All the meat, bacon, ham and sausage was fresh and delicious. The maple ribs were tender, fall-off-the-bone good. The finale... My son wanted to try the maple frappe... It was soooo good he barely got any after sharing it with us.
