Because of this, they do tend to run out of some items on the menu throughout the dinner service, so if you have a specific dish you want to try then it's probably a good idea to try for an earlier seating. The night we went, they were out of halibut and potatoes. We ordered the salmon and NY strip, both were excellent! The salmon especially is a very well put together dish. As an appetizer we ordered the tempura green beans, which felt a little greasy. They're definitely food, but you really want to eat them quickly while they're hot. I also don't like places that charge for dinner rolls... $6 for only 3 rolls is a little steep and they weren't anything particularly amazing. The dining room is quiet and the people who come here tend to be a more relaxed crowd. The servers are all very friendly and the drinks are delicious. It is worth noting that all their beers are cans, no draught options. Best parking is across the street at the library, there's a sign warning not to park there but if it's later at night and the library is closed then nobody seems to mind.

I am a big fan of Cafe On The Oval!!!…read more I have been getting breakfast here since I moved to Milford in 2022! Absolutely love the staff and the food. This is the spot I bring family and friends to whenever we are looking to go out to breakfast! The homemade cinnamon roll is always a hit, and even though I can't have it since I'm GF, everyone who can digest gluten is obsessed with it!! They do have GF options, but it's not specified on the menu. They have GF toast and a dedicated grill section for pan fries. French toast is very good here for being GF. The staff and the vibe of this place is really what makes it special to me. The collaboration between all the servers and staff sets this place apart from the rest. I was there this past weekend, and it was nice for a familiar server also recognized me as a familiar face. I was also made aware of a contest to see how many eggs they cracked in a week- and I took a guess and ended up winning a $50 gift card! Made my day! If you're in town, go to Cafe On the Oval- I promise you won't regret it!

When seated in a cramped corner next to the waitress station we asked for this other open table. Were told no it needs to be saved for a party of 6. OK I get it but the table we had shouldn't even be an option as all the wait staff were 6 inches from my back, coming and going. Food was just OK. I had the turkey club and the rest of the party had breakfast. Plenty of wait staff on duty and we had different ones coming to the table during the meal. When the checks were brought it was very rude, she barked out the order to see whose it was then handed each of us our checks. No thank you or pleasantries. The place looked bright with great windows and was clean. All good seats except ours.

We sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather as well as a wedding that was taking place. The venue does a great job of keeping wedding events separate from diners so although we were able to see some of the wedding party and guests the reception was in another room and the noise did not spill over to diners, My friend had a cocktail and I enjoyed a wine flight. We shared a summer peach and burrata salad and Parker House rolls. Both were delicious. My friend had salmon and I had the summer swordfish over risotto. Both were perfectly prepared. My swordfish was melt in your mouth. Our server, Aydan was super friendly and just a delight. Everyone at the restaurant was helpful and gracious. I would highly recommend giving the Bistro a try if you are in the area. I don't think you will be disappointed!

The waitress was knowledgeable on the wines and their pairings. We got the red wine braised shortrib poutine and and it was AMAZING I've tried a lot of poutine and this was one of the best. The meat was so incredibly flavorful and soft, the cheese had the perfect cheese pull, the gravy was scrumptious and the fries were thin and perfectly salty like a better version of a McDonald's fry. For dinner we split the steak frites and duck breast. The steak was well seasoned and was a nice size, the broccolini was surprisingly really great, and the fries were just as good as they were in the poutine. The duck breast was a pass for me, and I love duck. It was cooked medium as a default and that is not my preference. It was quite chewy and I didn't think it tasted like very much at all. The mashed potatoes were very good, I think they have a real knack for all things potato here and the farro was good and very flavorful for being a side portion. I would definitely come here again but probably stick to the red meats.
