Good coffee, good pastries, good atmosphere. Just wasn't ready for the $23.00 price tag for two large lattes and a pastry which is why I gave it 4 stars. Good location for a specialty coffee once a month, but I won't be returning. If this price tag doesn't bother you, definitely a great place for coffee. Response to Owner: certainly not $8.39 per a latte...especially when Starbucks is widely regarded as the expensive coffee option and a large latte there is $5.65. Really yummy, vibey place. It's a cool coffee shop that doesn't have a ton of seating but has a lot of options, and the staff is really friendly. They engaged in conversation even though we were there the second they opened. The food was yummy, and the latte was great. This might actually be the worst coffee shop I've ever seen. When you peel back the hipster merch and barnboard decor all you have is terrible service, bitter coffee and boring wannabe Cali cool food made on a George Foreman. We just spent a half hour (ten minutes of which was spent being ignored at the register) to wait for two coffees. That's all, just two coffees. A half hour later, the barista gave us an iced coffee rather than the hot coffee we paid $7.00 for. We were so frustrated at that point that we took the wrong coffee and left. There's a reason the place is pretty much empty these days, it's because it has gone seriously downhill and the customer seems irrelevant. The energy also stinks, the whole place just feels dead. The music is depressing, the barista looks depressed and no one is even talking. It feels like a church or library where people forgot what joy looks like. I wanted any option other than SBucks, but back to the pumpkin spice store we go to fuel the capitalist machine. Union is the worst. read more

I love their coffee! Full of flavor even without anything in it. It's hard to find a medium or light roast around here. There is a whole world of flavor in coffee when you don't burn the beans! They really know what they're doing at Union Coffee. I am from New England and I know that New Englander's love their dark roast. Dunkin's and Starbucks has taken over our tastebuds. I left for a few years and realized that in other parts of the country they don't burn coffee. Opened up a new way of enjoying coffee for me. So happy to find this place! read more

The coffee at this place is terrible. I ordered a dark roast and was told that they have a medium roast that is "strong" and like a dark roast. Seeing three cups I ordered a medium and was told they only have two sizes, so I went large. That was a mistake; the coffee was terrible. I drink my coffee black with nothing in it, and the cup had no flavor. It was watery and bland, almost like they brewed with too little coffee. I barley drank half of the cup. I also ordered a double shot of espresso. This was also terrible. Once again it was weak and watery and felt very thin. This did not taste like any espresso that I have ever had. There was no bitterness, but an odd and unpleasant metallic sweetness. The staff who helped me was friendly and that is why I am giving two stars instead of one. read more

This was my first time coming here, and I really like this place! We placed our order to-go in advance through their free app (which was super easy to use), and it was ready and on the shelf for pick-up by the time we got there. They also have limited (social-distance) seating indoors and a few tables outdoors, and clearly take COVID safety precautions throughout. Our coffees were really good (including several different flavor options), and they have a gluten-free option for their breakfast sandwiches which was tasty! There is plenty of parking nearby, and the shop is located in a cute part of this New England town, so you could definitely make a morning/afternoon of your trip if you're from out-of-town and the weather is nice. I've been going to Union Coffee since it opened and it's great. Staff are always super friendly and if something doesn't come out quite right, they are quick to fix it for you. The only downside is the lack of parking across the street sometimes (Milford could probably do with a parking garage similar to Portsmouth). read more

My friend and I are coffee drinkers and prefer local roasters over the big chains. We have tried every roaster in the area and Union Coffee is the best this side of Manchester. We have had local coffee on every continent and feel fortunate we can get a good espresso so close to home. Every week we pass the time over espresso and drip coffee - the atmosphere is casual and comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful, making for an overall great "vibe." The breakfast sandwiches are tasty and prepared fresh to order. There are also fresh pastries if you prefer sweets. The coffee is well roasted - on the dark side, well balanced without bitterness or acidity. We drink the espresso straight to appreciate the taste of the coffee. They have a nice selection of teas, cappuccinos and lattes and the staff is good at customizing your order. But, dont expect any sugary foo foo frappa wappa desert drinks. A great cup! read more

Pretty laid back coffee shop, friendly staff, quick service and great tasting coffees. I've had a couple of their sandwiches as well and those were delicious. Price-wise it isn't bad at all. Many drinks in the $2-5 range and a majority of the menu under $10. A variety of seating areas and types from barstools and counters to smaller 2-3 person table, to sofas/armchairs with coffee tables, to a larger table that seats maybe 4-6 people. I happen to love the window seats even in direct sunlight....there are about 9 such seats spread across 4 small tables. Note that if you do not like direct sunlight or you're trying to view the display of your laptop/smartphone, those window seats might not be the best choice when the sun isn't set. Always a variety of non-annoying music playing at a level low enough to have conversations without having to raise your voice. On some nights--I believe usually Fr/Sat but I am not entirely certain--they host live music, local bands. Free wi-fi for those who care about that. Parking is a bit limited at peak times....you may need to find a spot further down the street, around the corner or closer to the rotary. No metered parking which is nice. There really isn't anything negative about the place that comes to mind. If you want a place to work amid the hustle and bustle, or a place to meet up with friends, give it a go. Union coffee gave us much more: housemate syrups (the honey cinnamon and lavender were delicious and not overpowering), glass bottles of coffee alternate beverages and the desire to come back some Friday or Saturday night for live music, open mike and beer. Beyond the Union Cafe roasted options, the young ones were entranced by the play kitchen in one of the seating areas. Free WiFi and plenty of lunch options made me wish we hadn't already imbibed at the chowder place next door (they have take home containers, so we could have had it all!). I am a coffee enthusiast and more particularly a huge cappuccino fan. I have to say that I had hard time finding a place in NH where they serve a decent espresso/cappuccino. Until I visited Union Coffee Co. I don't mind the 30 minute drive (I live in Manchester) on a Saturday/Sunday morning: the quality and the taste of the coffee is totally worth it. Never thought I would find such a gem in Milford. Union Coffee Co is a nice little coffee-shop just a few meters away from Milford main square. It is nicely decorated and modern and has a great atmosphere. Those are things that add up, but the real reason to go there is the coffee. I hate the machine-made cappuccino where the milk foam is bubbly and looks terrible. People over at this place really know how to make cappuccino. It's safe to say we are coffee house snobs, and this place doesn't disappoint! I just came off a trip to Seattle and was far happier at Union Coffee than any shops I tried there. We came in at 7:30pm on a Monday evening looking for a spot to relax, have something warm to drink and conduct a business call. We asked the guy behind the counter if it would be okay to have a Skype call and he said "absolutely." He turned out to be the owner and couldn't have been nicer! We were concerned with disrupting other customers, but it was pretty quiet. We ordered two Union Standard coffees, poured in our chosen mugs, and I drank mine over the course of the hour call with the addition of unsweetened almond milk and available stevia. Perfect! The vibe was super relaxed, awesome decor, great logo and branding, and generally upbeat happy attitude. My fiance enjoyed a breakfast sandwich (I didn't ask if they had gluten free.) We aren't too close by, but would actually make the trip some night when there is live music. They had a Champlain Hard Cider I'd love to try! Derek, the owner, is part of why this place is so fantastic! Having such a positive relaxed attitude is completely refreshing and enjoyable. Love local businesses supporting other locals. The people here have always been friendly, both customers and employees. Outdoor seating for you and your pup to sit and people watch.
