Donut Fresh Express Milford We went with a 4 stars for two reasons. It WAS good, and compared to the area, it's probably the best donut. That being said we have eaten donuts all around the country and if we were being honest on that scale it's more of a 3-stars. Glazed Old Fashioned- My favorite. This was a hearty heavy donut, well glazed. The glaze had time to set into the donut a little bit but it still had somewhat crunchy ridges on the outside. I could taste just how "fried" it was to make this donut. When I come back I'll get two of these and a chocolate dipped old fashioned. Chocolate Old Fashioned (plain dipped in chocolate)-chocolate was yummy, donut was yummy. A good ratio of the two. I always love more chocolate but this was perfect for me to be able to taste the donut in its pure form as well as dipped in chocolate. I'd get this again. Apple Fritter-thin, crunchy, delicious. Not too greasy which I think thin fritters can sometimes be. I'd get this over and over again. Vanilla creme filled- good very light donut pastry. Filling also was throughout the entire donut not just one small spot inside. Yummy vanilla creme almost frosting-esque but lightness of the donut is what I liked most. Almond Croissant? (Supposed to be strawberry and cheese) we ordered a strawberry and cheese croissant but what we got was not that. It was a croissant style pastry that was as if they forgot to add filling. A hollow pocket of yummy dough. It had an amaretto flavoring to it so we were thinking it was an almond croissant but still wondering if it was supposed to be filled with something?? It would be like eating a Hot-Pocket with no filling. Iced coffee: probably better than Dunkies which is a plus, I can really taste the coffee under the French vanilla which I also liked. Black tea with raspberry: Neither the wife nor I think it was actually black tea. It was a very VERY light tea with a mild raspberry flavor. We think it may have been herbal tea but even at that it was pretty weak (not brewed well). Anyways nice on a hot day for what it was but prob not the best iced tea I've had. read more

On our little road trip to pick up our bows, Donut Fresh Express happened to be the middle point between our place and our destination. It looked like it used to be a fast food spot of some sort and was renovated a while ago into a donut shop. Outside doesn't look appealing but inside, it's spacious and clean. The donuts were mostly labeled except for the few behind the display glass. The breakfast menu was limited and simple which was great for people on the go, hence 'express' in the name. Smoothies- Whether you're getting a fruit smoothie or Thai Tea like I did, know that it's all made with powder and not real fruits or brewed tea. We took one sip, knew immediately and chucked it. Breakfast Wrap- This thick ole wrap was filled with eggs, bacon, diced bell peppers, and green onion. It was surprisingly good. Eggs, Cheese, Bacon & Sausage on an Everything Bagel- A neatly-compacted bagel that had all the component in each bite. Apple Fritter Donut- Had to try it. A little stale and it tasted like a basic honey glazed if you left it out for 2 days but coated with cinnamon. Overall Service: They seem very nice. Somewhat fresh and not overly sweet. Old Fashioned Donut with Chocolate Glaze Plain cake donut with a thin chocolate glaze on top. Not as crispy on the outside as I expected, but slightly hard exterior and buttery and soft inside. Would get one of these again! Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are served too. New England Coffee is brewed here plus chai, cappuccino, frozen coffee/espresso drinks and fruit smoothies are offered. Coffee combo (M, L, XL) deals are offered with donuts, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, coffee rolls, and bagel with cream cheese. I love this place! I'm not in the area often, but I always make sure to stop by this place while I'm visiting. The food and drinks are always great, I usually get coffee but this time I ordered a Strawberry blast smoothie, and wow! what an unexpected great flavor, very sweet. I was impressed. The people that have helped me have always been polite, speedy, and one time when a mistake was made (we're all human, it happens) they fixed it quickly, kindly, and added another donut in the bag. Like any decent donut shop the selection is broadest earlier in the day The nearest coffee/donut shops I would consider to be *better* than DF are about 3 hours away in Southeastern MA and in RI (I'm biased toward Portuguese bakeries, what can I say.) I happen to like their regular & decaf coffees. Not sure which brand they're using but it tastes great to me. Currently around $2.75 for a large iced. My daughter loves their coffee rolls....one of her favorites. The drive-through moves pretty quickly. And they're always super friendly. Tip: more often than not if you happen to arrive after about 3/3:30 they'll very likely ask you if you'd like a free donut with your order as they wrap up their day. They'd rather give the last few donuts away than waste them by throwing them in the trash. Thumbs up! So, if you happen to be passing through around that timeframe, don't be surprised if they ask. Went through the drive-through and tried to order a sandwich, it was a bacon egg and cheese with sausage and extra cheese. They had the most difficult time understanding that it was one sandwich. After I completed my order with a sandwich and a coffee I then went through the drive-through paid for both with a five dollar tip and only received my sandwich. I drove off before realizing I didn't get my coffee and then I went back to the drive-through to get my coffee having to wait another 10 minutes. Once I received my coffee it was not at all what I ordered I ordered a medium iced hazelnut swirl with regular cream and regular liquid sugar and they gave me a regular iced coffee with just cream. First, let me just say that Donut Fresh's breakfast sandwiches are pretty outstanding. Kinda like an upgrade from the traditional Dunkin' fare. The chocolate pastry was also pretty awesome, but neither food nor treat can completely save this place for me. The interior is essentially an old Taco Bell with an asian flare, which kinda threw me off. It felt cold, empty and run down. This place needs a firm kick right in their interior design testicles, and fast. I haven't come back yet due to the distance from Merrimack and I honestly dont plan to. I want to like this place...
