The husband and I had a GREAT experience here. It was my first time while he had been before. We check in to the restaurant and were told there would be an hour wait (we expected that). We checked out the shop and then headed on over to the Sugar House to catch a free tour. It was freezing but it was fun learning about the whole syrup making process. It's nice that when they call parties of people, you can hear it every where outside, so even if you are on a tour. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I think they were spot on with an hour wait for us (maybe give or take 5 mins). Husband tried some of their maple coffee and he loved it, so we ended up buying some. I had some hot cider and it was very good! The husband tried the mini park special with scrambled eggs, hash browns, pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham and toast. He enjoyed every bite of it. I had a broccoli and cheese omelet with hash browns and a slice of french toast on the side, have to try the syrup after all! I am very picky about my omelets and am happy to report that it was very good! I do not like my egg on the thick side and like it with a lot of filling/veggies. They did not skimp on the broccoli and the egg itself was not too thick for my liking. The has browns are basically fried potatoes but they had a good flavor to them. The french toast was very good as well as the syrup. (My french toast was grilled but you can also get it deep fried. We ended up buying some maple coffee and of course maple syrup to take home with us. read more

Parker's has a really nice location out in the woods in Mason, NH. The seating areas are rustic-themed, and the main area actually is an old barn. You can see the rafters and bracing just by looking up. Sitting by one of the wood stoves is really cozy and nice in the colder months. I've only been there for breakfast, but the breakfast offerings are better than passable. The pancakes are wonderful, and the baked beans delicious. The bread is also very good. If you want a *lot* of food, order the mini Parker's special. The full size Parker's special could easily serve two people. The wait staff is fast and very attentive. No issues there. Prices are reasonable. My only complaint with Parker's is their home fries. Some people like them, but they're clearly frozen, and in my opinion aren't very good. If Parker's wants a lesson on how to do home fries correctly, they should pay a visit to the Cafe on the Oval in Milford. It's been a year since I last visited, so if someone wants to correct me about the home fries, please do. A minor problem for most people, but hey, I like home fries. What can I say? If breakfast is your bag, then Parker's is the place for you! I am a breakfast eater. I think I could eat breakfast for every meal of the day, if I didn't think I'd end up a 1500 pound shut-in! That being said, the only requirement for my infrequent stays with friends in New Hampshire is a visit to Parker's Maple Barn. As all other reviewers will note, the weekend wait for a table is near intolerable even with the distraction of seasonal syrup-making (which is a big hit with kids and grown-ups alike and smells amazing) and a decent gift shop with some cute maple inspired kitsch and of course, every thing you can make out of maple syrup, package and sell. There's not really any space to wait for a table indoors, so don't leave your coat in the car. If you're brave enough to wait for a table on the weekends (not recommended) or walk right in on weekdays mornings, you'll enjoy some of the best breakfast fare around. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting with wood stoves and rural decor, yet bustling with friendly servers carrying pancake-laden trays and coffee refills. Be sure to be hungry when you sit down, as huge portions are the rule. There's a cinnamon roll that's bigger than your head. The "Parker's Special" is the only way to go - basically giving you one of each off the menu! The bread they serve (toast, sandwiches and french toast) is made fresh and cut thick and you can buy yourself a loaf to take home. Everything I've eaten has been delicious and tastes even better with the local maple syrup. They even serve maple-flavored coffee - the aroma is just delightful. This place is a known tourist trap. Avoid this place on the weekend and especailly in the spring, waiting can be several hours.... and YES it is in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! Wear your ducktape bra for the roads, or someone may loose and eye! As for the food. Not bad, I have had worse. Good portions and you leave full. To warn you, order small. What you think is your average size meal will feed you for several days! As for the service... I swear that our waitress was on speed... I'm all for fast service, but this one needs a drug test! The atmosphere would be perfect if they got rid of the loud speaker system.... Still has the country charm look... but they really need to loose the loud speaker! If you are looking for an alternitive, try Gary's Harvest in Wilton... they are right off the highway! Denny's and Bickford's are in Nashua as well. read more

I don't care about their retail, their tour, their barn-like-qualities or frankly even their lunch or dinner; in my head, this place exists for one thing and one thing only: breakfast. And they NAIL it. My favorite season-turned-cuisine is the fall--harvest foods, pumpin stuff, cider and you name it--so going to the Maple Barn in the fall is probably ideal. But the good news for me is that they still have pumpkin pancakes on the menu, and they still taste fall-fresh. They're thick and moist and incredibly delicious. Accompanying that on my plate was home fries--not my favorite way of doing them, but a good version of this style--some scrambled eggs, and ham hash, which I guess is like corned beef hash, but with ham. The whole plate was fantastic, and putting bottemless coffee with that all for about $15 (including tax and tip) was more than fair. And while I didn't exactly have the stomache for it, on the SIDE DISH MENU FOR BREAKFAST, they have a half rack of maple baked ribs. On the side dish menu. For breakfast. A dear friend of mine has been talking about Parker's Maple Barn for as long as I've known her. Finally, several years into our friendship we took a pilgrimage there. It's very New Hampshire, she warned me. But this could not deter me from having a good breakfast. The wait wasn't too bad on the early Sunday afternoon. We put our name in for a table and walked around to the gift shop. (The trees weren't tapped yet, so we didn't see any of the live maple syrup action.) The gift shop had a nice selection of maple products - syrup, candy, sugar and the like, random NH stuff, and most excellent Native American folk art (dream catchers. Oh so many dream catchers...) By the time we made our way back to the restaurant, our table was ready. We had a lovely server who was a wicked local, super friendly and attentive lady. There were a good number of breakfast and lunch choices (though, my friend tells me that the menu was less impressive than it has been in the past). I ordered the Parker's Special - pancakes, eggs, toast, homefries and a trio of breakfast meats (ham, bacon and sausage - though you could substitute the three meats for ham hash, if you so desired). The special was amazing. So much food. So much delicious breakfast food. The pancakes were light and fluffy - served with butter and Parker's own maple syrup - they could not be beat. The rest of my basic breakfast was great. The toast was a nice thick cut. The breakfast trio of meats were a lovely salty, greasy addition. The potatoes were super crispy, but light and fluffy on the inside. Like a crispy mashed potato nugget. Yum. The drive from Boston was not that bad. It took us a little over an hour and contrary to popular belief, it was not all that difficult to find. Get the pumpkin pancakes while they last! They're incredible. I consider myself to be a bit of a pancake connoisseur and more than a bit of a New Hampshire connoisseur (603, born and raised, baby!) and this place is WICKED AWESOME. The Mini Parker's Special is the standard against which I judge all other breakfasts. Huge pancake, egg, toast, home fries, bacon, sausage and overwhelmingly large slice of ham. I worship anyone out there who can manage the full-sized Parker's Special. Aside from the food, the people are incredibly nice and knowledgeable (they make the maple syrup RIGHT HERE) and the ambiance is so much fun that it's worth spending some time exploring. Depending on the season, there is sometimes a great little shack selling apple cider and fresh doughnuts. All of the maple trees in the area are tapped for sugaring in late winter/early spring, and there's a great, quirky gift shop and lots of rustic rocking chairs, swings and benches. The wait can get pretty long, especially on Sundays, but you don't go to Parker's to rush through breakfast. Make a day of it...it's in the middle of nowhere, after all. Great place for Saturday morning breakfast. This is the second time we've been here for breakfast and its still good, even with several years in between visits. Among us, we had the stuffed french toast (french toast stuffed with ham, pineapple and cream cheese), pumpkin pancake, stack of peach pancakes, homefries, corned beef hash and chicken tenders. We sampled each other's fare and we all liked everything. Noteworthy is that the chicken tenders were made with real chicken white meat and that the peach pancakes were the seasonal special. The service was very good. Then we headed over to the store and did a little shopping as part of our routine. There was another time we came here on a Sunday for lunch and we waited almost an hour to be seated plus the service was poor. We wrote to the management about that and hopefully they've made improvements since then. read more

I have to be honest here I don't get what all the hype is about. Apparently people just like driving out to the middle of nowhere for mediocre breakfast. I get it, it's suppose to be rustic and out in the woods it's an experience and the ambiance makes the meal. I disagree, if i'm going to drive way out in the woods for breakfast you better be serving up something special. I'm not here to check out the decorations on the wall I'm here to treat my mouth and stomach to a good time because I love them, they don't care what's hanging from the ceiling. I'd rather eat a fantastic meal in a porta potty because lets face it when we find that special meal/food we'll travel anywhere and do anything to get it. As for the meal, I went here one saturday with my family and it was crowded which I was expecting and didn't mind waiting because I heard it was great. After about 50 min of waiting for a table then another 30 for the food to arrive I was beyond starving. I had to go with the ribs and eggs because lets face it how often do you get to put those two things together. When the food came out I was disappointed to find out my eggs were cold like they had been sitting around for 15 min, not much flavor to them either. The ribs were good, cooked well, and the flavor was a nice change of pace. The homefries and toast were probably the best part...very tasty. Luckily I went with my large family and was able to pick at everyone else's breakfast as well. Everyone else agreed their eggs were cold, the hash was tasty, the sausage was decent, and I must say the pancakes were great, they were serving pumpkin and gingerbread, i've never had either. Overall I felt it was a good breakfast however didn't feel that it lived up to the hype and not worth a trek out in the woods and a 80 min wait. However I must say my favorite part of the whole experience was that they were selling hard maple candies at the door...those things are straight up MONEY!!! read more

This place is a slice of wonderful. If you want to learn about maple sugaring this is the place to go. However, if that part isn't interesting to you I recommend going in the warmer months when there is less risk of a school bus full of people pulling up. However, you could miss out on the smell of woodburning stoves mingling with bacon, maple syrup and coffee....delicious. If you go in the summer you can stop at Lull Farm on the drive back to make a day of it (and get some fresh spinach for a maple balsamic spinach salad to savor the NH harvest when you get home). I have never not been satisfied here. I have only ever gotten breakfast, though. The toast is thick and buttered, pancakes light and fluffy, bacon and eggs cooked just right, and hash browns well seasoned. Ordering coffee brings your very own caraffe. I usually favor the 'Mini-Parker' which is a little sample of breakfast staples. They have a 'Parker' but I don't think I would be able to move after, as the 'Mini" usually leaves me with stuffed and sleepy (that's what the caraffe is for). The decorating motif is all backwoods New England; exposed beams, kitchy old advertisements, etc. When I regain the ability to use my legs I usually mosy over to the gift shop to pick up some syrup and perhaps a small gift for whoever's birthday is closest. This helps the enormous amount of food I just had get some stimulation to digest before the long ride home. read more

Went a few months back with my kids to a place I used to go with my parents when I was younger. One kid has a nut allergy, and when we informed the waitress her reply was "we make no guarantee". There was no attempt to accommodate whatsoever. I'm realistic about dining with someone that has an allergy, as is my kid. Usually there is no problem having one thing that is safe. But their attitude about it is terrible. She told us that's what their manager tells them to say. No signage anywhere about allergies. Store had some cookies that she was able to eat at least. The food...not that impressive. On a paper plate no less. If anyone with you has any sort of food allergy, skip it and go elsewhere. read more

When we walked in we were not even greeted just a stare down. A hello good morning how may I help. If I didn't say the first words we would still be in line. 1 hour and 20 minute wait time. We waited because all the rave reviews from everyone. What a disappointment as we were finally seated we were rushed to order. We also had someone join us later on and we couldn't find our waitress. Our table needed to be refreshed with bevegres and needed 1 mlre order. Anyways food came in the steak for the steak and eggs was borderline on its way out the strong taste of iron in the meat no marinade no salt and pepper. The fried French toast was not that good as you could taste the fryers were not clean. A complete disappointment and will not be back ever. I used to frequent Parker's quite a bit. Had not gone in a while and ventured there this morning with my husband and children. My 13 year old son ordered the Chicken and Waffles and was very happy with his meal. My daughter ordered the Mini Special and thought it was "okay" but not worth the road trip. My husband ordered the ribs and eggs. The over easy eggs were good. The ribs were okay. Not the best or worst. I had the Mini Parker Special with pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham hash and beans. The food all appeared pre-cooked and then reheated! The pancake texture was a bitter rubbery and they were clearly not made to order. They were lukewarm in some areas and hot in others. The scrambled eggs were also lukewarm, dry and made ahead of time (tasted like buffet eggs). The beans had great flavor but were also lukewarm and watery. The ham hash was barely lukewarm and very mushy. The toast was hardly cooked which was a shame because the bread was good. Nora, our waitress provided great service, but the rest of the staff (hostesses) were unfriendly. I could have overlooked this if the food was better. The atmosphere is as warm and cozy as before. I am sad that it did not meet previous experiences. It missed by a lot. read more

This place was super packed. We put our names in the waiting list, and we're told there would be a 90 minute wait, so we headed to the coffee shop for maple donuts (which were delicious). We took the "tour" through the sugar shack, but didn't hear an explanation about how the syrup was made, and the tour guide spent most of his time being interrupted by child questions. We bought a variation of maple candy from the gift shop, and ended up only killing 30 minutes with really nothing else to do, so we waited around, outside for the remaining hour in the blustery windy 32° weather. The hour came and went, and after deciding the breakfast choices looked a bit mundane for a two hour wait, we went a ways down the road to the delicious Hilltop cafe. Parkers is a fun place once in a great while. For us, it's a long ride but we bring our 2 Newfoundlands Dewey and lulu who like it more then we do!!!! They get a lot of attention and there are rockers and chairs we sit in and just chat with people. The store is cute to walk around in and the food is a typical hearty breakfast. Parker's Maple Barn is perhaps one of the coolest places to eat in NH. The food is excellent and would earn rave reviews in any major city. Best of all, they serve breakfast any time they are open, which means you can get a late afternoon pancake fix, which is the best way to sample the maple syrup which is tapped on the premises. I went for the pumpkin pancakes, which had the perfect balance of spices and pumpkin flavor. Go easy with the maple syrup, since the dark amber is sweet and you don't want it to overpower the delicious food. My mother ordered the special butter rum Belgian waffle, which was amazing with a truly unique flavor. Our sides were also great -- the best home fries I may have ever had, and my mom loved her baked beans. You can get non-breakfast food as well, which also got the stamp of approval. The restaurant itself is really warm and welcoming -- we sat by the wood stove and enjoyed the wood interior. The converted dairy barn has a comforting New England feel without crossing the kitsch line. You also have to check out the gift shop -- you can pick up maple syrup, maple candies of all sorts (try the dark chocolate maple truffles, you won't regret it), and gourmet spices, teas, and seasonings. Don't forget to go downstairs in the Corn Crib Gift Shop, where they have an interesting selection of incense, Native American crafts, jewelry, and lots of other things. Careful selection of items and friendly employees makes it a great place to get gifts or something for yourself. We found out a great tip: come to Parker's on Easter Sunday! No crazy lines! They are still sugaring up there, too. I'm not a breakfast eater, but sweetie tried the Cinnamon French Toast, as a side. It's notable, because the bread is homemade, and the slice is an inch thick, and her eyes rolled back as she ate it. It was THAT good. Our waitress was a fit. This place is well worth the drive! Maybe not every weekend, but for a sporadic trip to the country (and we are talking serious country here people, not a cute farm stand in the suburbs!) when you get a hankerin' for something pumpkin-y or maple-y. Every time we've ever been there is a wait, which can be daunting with a couple of toddlers, but as long as the weather is nice you can run around the grounds to get some energy out. For others that may not have to chase after their children, there is a cute little store located adjacent to the restaurant offering anything and everything that is Maple. Parker's Maple Barn has a tour, store, and restaurant. You can put your name down at the restaurant and go on the tour while you wait for your name to be called (they have really LOUD speakers that can be heard anywhere you are so you can hear them calling your name). The tour was pretty fun, they tell you about the maple syrup making process (did you know it takes 60 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup?!) The tour guide was pretty entertaining and knowledgeable. The whole place smells delicious. We waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2 and the waitress was really friendly and accommodating. The pancake of the month was maple-walnut and it was delicious (I wonder how many variations of maple pancakes they can think of). I also got the maple coffee which tasted pretty good. The store was pretty interesting too, they have all sorts of maple products like maple jelly beans, various chocolate + maple things, and donuts. Didn't get to try the donuts but you should!! All in all a good experience if you've never been before :) read more

Overrated. Food is okay but I really object to tiny amount of maple syrup you're now given. It's in a minuscule bottle that manages to cover a small part of pancake or French toast. If you want more, it's a dollar each additional bottle. Do enjoy the little store next door though. read more

As locals we have gone to this restaurant several times before. Every time was great until recently. My wife, daughter, and I went to this restaurant for breakfast yesterday. We arrived just after 9am. We were told a 40-45 min. wait. No problem we understand this place can be busy, and it's a good 30-40 min drive just to get to this place. Well that wait turned into over an hour just to be seated. Then we waited another 20 min just for the server to come over and ask what we wanted to drink. Now after ordering drinks we waited another 20 min just to get coffee, and hot apple cider(we'll get to this one), and order breakfast. Another 40 min later we finally get breakfast. My waffle has no flavor, and my wife's monte cristo sandwich was made with the wrong cheese, and barely qualified as a sandwich. The potatoes had no flavor or seasoning either, and dry as a bone. My wife had the hot apple cider. Now at a restaurant that like you would expect real apple cider. This was scarily similar to the powdered stuff you buy at the grocery store. More like warmed apple juice. I understand that they are understaffed. The problem is everywhere is understaffed, and I'm personally exhausted with the excuse of "we're understaffed". I work at a place that is understaffed in a service industry, and we manage to keep up with work, and customer demand. We left without leaving a tip due to the horrific service, and terrible food. This is all too bad because this used to be a great place with good food, and have unfortunately gone way down hill to the level of a 3rd rate place serving warmed frozen food. Don't waste your time or your money. By the way the cranberry juice is $4, and our breakfast came to over $60(for three people) just to put the price in perspective. Also during all this waiting they're happy to direct you to the gift shop, which is also way overpriced, and let you wander around to spend even more. read more

Parker's is a popular destination among people in southern NH and I've seen many people post about going here to eat. So after man years of hearing about it I went today. It was fairly busy but not crazy so. I ordered a pancake and so did my wife, mine was a bit doughy but here's was way undercooked. The omelettes we ordered we also ok, most of the veggies in them were borderline raw The waitress was friendly and the sampler was good.
