Scott and team not only know this business they are committed to serving. I've shared earlier stories and here is another. This past weekend I brought in a pair of garden shears I thought I'd lost and it turned out I left them in the garden all fall and winter. They were rusted beyond recognition and I was so embarrassed to bring them to Scott to see what was possible. Scott smiled as I showed him my buried treasure and asked if I had a few minutes to wait. With that he disappeared into his workshop with the rusted shears. Not even 10 minutes later Scott reappears with an even bigger smile. The shears are good as new and we both wish we had a before picture ( see the after picture below). So there we have it friends. Another memorable moment in my Vanderhoof Hardware journey. Uncommonly great service with extremely helpful and friendly staff are common here at this particular Aubuchon store, that's for sure. So why spend precious time trying to track down a 'specialist' at a big box orange or blue home goods store when you can get immediate attention, helpful advice, good value and service here for 99+% of all your home hardware needs? In particular, staff members like Joe, Matt, John and Susan are extremely responsive, friendly and go the distance when asked for help finding something...or even helping to make sure your product solution 'works' and is the 'right fit'. I was so moved the other day with this one case in point. I needed just a few small bolts, nuts and washers -- but for an urgent 'realtime' equipment fix at home (leaf machine). Not only did Matt help me find matching sized fastener equivalents, he along with Joe actually helped by manually trimming the unusually sized bolts on my machine to exact precise length. Such follow-thru and diligence! All that for just a handful of @ 30-cent per bolt parts!! Now where can you get THAT level of personalized customer service and remedial tailored response elsewhere?? Duty "above and beyond" the call of customer service for sure! So they "sold me" and I will always shop first here and get my hardware needs met. And hence this 'shout-out'. Staff is generally experienced, knowledgeable and service oriented. Their prices are fair, although admittedly tend to be slightly higher than the big box stores. However, their sales and promotions are solid and worthwhile. In addition, I've found the Ace store brand hand tools and other products to be an excellent value for the price, especially when on sale. The hand tools carry a lifetime warranty, and Ace branded items like painter's caulk and spray paint have also proven their worth. We've been working on a fixer-upper for the last three years, and have become intimately familiar with all the hardware stores, big box stores, and lumberyards in the area. While it is not the place for building materials or very specialized items, Rocky's is a great place for general home repair and maintenance items, good advice and great service. Also, if you need something they don't carry, you can order from acehardware.com and have it delivered free to Rocky's, which can work out great for heavier/bulkier items.

He told me he had them. I asked the price and told me that too. I went into the store and asked tine cashier where they were. She looked them up on the computer and told me aisle 3. I got them and went to pay. I liked that I didn't have to wait in line. Another cashier came to the front of the store and took me to pay. I find that they have most every thing hardware wise that I need. Perhaps not as large a selection as a Lowes, but enough. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. As others have pointed out, they will not jump out to ask you questions right away (which I consider a feature) but if you walk up to the counter they are more than willing to assist. All of them know where everything is and will walk you over to what you are looking for. Other people have pointed out that this is a great place to get propane re-fills. It is the only place in Sudbury that I go. And I have never seen the employees stand around not doing anything, except for the times that I engage them in political discussions. A word of advice: Make sure that you keep your receipt if you are buying something that you might want to return. They are insistent on the receipt for ALL returns.

I ordered two gallons of Farrow & Ball paint from them and there was a little mix up and my order did not arrive as expected. The associate I spoke to was apologetic and courteous. Having worked in retail and special-order sales, I understand these things happen but their conscientious treatment of the matter turned what could have been a bad experience into a good one. I really like how they're a family-owned business. The employees seem to love what they do and enjoy each other's company. That sort of thing makes a huge difference in a shopper's experience.

I fix things around the house a lot, and Butler always comes through for me. Everyone is helpful, tries to help me pick the right material for the job, and even give me free range to look around in the wood sheds to see if they have something I can use. They have marine ply, and everything I am looking for when I need lumber. I even found them to be generous - I have so much spray paint from when they were trying to move the stock. I don't understand the English language point, I have never had an issue with the staff in the yard or in the store. Great store, I'd recommend them.
