Parking was crazy too -- we ended up around the back of the shopping center. Thankfully, it was worth the wait. We sat near the bar, our service was impeccable, and the chef even came out to our table. For appetizers, we shared the French Toast Bites, Pig-Candy Bacon Bites and Fried Green Tomatoes. One of each was plenty for five people. The Fried Green Tomatoes were surprisingly my favorite -- there's a lot going on with the remoulade and bacon-onion jam, but it WORKS. The French Toast Bites were fried a little hard, and the Pig-Candy Bacon was very sweet and also a little hard, although my son devoured it. The regular bacon is ALWAYS amazing, so we ordered several rounds for the table. My husband and dad loved their Three Little Pigs Omelets. My husband added shrimp to his grits and said they were delicious, while my dad only finished half his plate because the portions are generous. My Southern Breakfast with scrambled eggs, cheese grits, bacon, fried green tomato and biscuit was simple, GOOD and filling. For picky kids, I'd order one pancake and extra bacon instead of multiple kids' meals. I also appreciated the apple juice and coloring sheets with crayons. The Mimosa Flight was just okay. Blueberry Lavender was my favorite, followed by Watermelon Pomegranate. I'd skip Pineapple Peach Bellini and Blue Orange -- I tasted more champagne than flavor. The Mardi Gras Punch, however, was a table favorite, especially the popping boba. Even with the crowd, the bathroom was clean. We watched the Saints game, enjoyed family time and stayed full until evening. Between the food, drinks and impeccable service, I'd definitely return -- just prepared for the brunch rush.

We had a wonderful breakfast at Simple Joe's Cafe in Baton Rouge!…read more I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was absolutely delicious--creamy, well-seasoned grits topped with perfectly cooked shrimp and a flavorful sauce that tied everything together beautifully. My husband had an omelette with peppers and bacon, and he really enjoyed it. It was fluffy, generously filled, and cooked just right, with great smoky flavor from the bacon and a nice kick from the peppers. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. Definitely a great local spot for a hearty, satisfying meal.

It's Simple as the name suggests…read more Nothing fancy or elaborate about this place. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

While they still have some…read moreof the best bagels in Baton Rouge, they have moved from their historical Lee Drive location to Highland Road. Their new location is in the small strip mall next to The Drunken Fish. This new location offers a covered patio for outdoor dining, as well as ample parking in the private lot in front of the location. They still have all of their classic sandwiches and bagel pizzas, and have even added a few new ones! The main ingredient is of course the authentic bagels. These are the best in Baton Rouge, and are made by a great local business. It's hard to beat that combination. If you want something different, they also have Reuben's and Muffulettas.

If you're wanting the change from a bagel you can also swap it for a croissant (which I love!) I prefer the sandwiches to the bagel pizzas, but the pizzas are nice for a change. Their coffee options are really good too! And I always get suckered into grabbing one on my way out the door. The outdoor area has some cute patio furniture as well as tables, and the inside is very spacious while still having a good bit of seating.
