The screw holding the lens to my Giorgio Armani frame snapped with 1/2 the screw still inside the frame. I took it to a few places but they couldn't remove the screw. I bought it into Paris Miki and within 30 minutes my frame was fixed. She only charged me $15 for the repair. This is the most honest, capable optical place that I have ever met. Great frame selection and excellent service! I came here after not finding a wide and flattering frame at my optometrist's office and at another big chain eyewear store in the same mall. They carry a great blend of brands, including Japanese, sports (e.g., Oakley), European (e.g., Tom Ford, Salvatore Ferragamo, ProDesign), and carried quite a few wide frames. There are also inexpensive frames available. The gentleman working here was very professional and helpful, After finding out what I was looking for and general style preference, he picked out a few for me to try on and I quickly found a very business and flattering Tom Ford frame. ***3.5 STARS*** I first heard of Paris Miki (PM) back in the 1990's when I worked in Waikiki. There was a colleague who would come here for her optical needs. Back in those days PM was located on the Mauka side of Kalākaua Ave, just after you pass the intersection of Kalākaua and Beach Walk. To my memory, I recall this location as a small one but my colleague just loved it here for the location and the bilingual staff. Paris Miki hails from Japan and boasts as a large optical chain not only in Japan but international (Europe, Asia and Australia) as well. They opened in Hawaii in the late 70's and moved from Kalākaua Ave to Ala Moana Center in 2007. They are now located on the Makai side of the mall not to far from popular eatery Assagio's. The main reason I come here is because my optometrist is in PM. I appreciate the convenience, ample mall parking as well as the large selection of frames to choose from. I recently came to PM for the annual eye exam and got another pair of reading glasses as one of my spares recently broke after 8 years of use. With my new prescription on hand, I glanced at the many frames to select from. I do find the 2 floor staff as standoff-ish. Being a Japanese company, one would expect at least a greeting (welcome, good morning, how are you doing today, how may I help you, do you see anything you like, etc.) as you walk in and browse their spacious, large showcase. But NO greeting whatsoever. Perhaps it's the atmosphere they are trying to be portrayed as a high-end optical provider? My glasses are only for reading and I was looking for something that was lightweight, yet fashionable. It did take me some time to finally select one but I was fortunate for the female staff to provide me with options as I informed her what colors and styles piqued my interest. I thank my lucky stars that day I went as PM had the particular AND the lenses for my prescription. The staff gave me the option to come back in about an hour. She even offered to call me when ready but I had a dental appointment just after my optical one so by the time I was done with the dentist my new glasses were ready for pick up. I came back after my dental appointment and my new pair of reading glasses were indeed ready. They made a slight adjustment as the frame was a tad bit tight. I also brought my other pair (also purchased at PM that was loose and they tightened it up for me at no cost. Regarding the insurance forms, PM completes them for you so all you need to do is sign and the deductible portion will be mailed via check to you. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service and product selection at PM. However, the staff could be more energetic and welcoming as patrons have other options, especially with nearby neighbor Lens Crafters or economical outlets of Costco or Sam's Club. I noted this concern also mentioned in multiple Yelp reviews and perhaps the management and staff can make necessary adjustments, if they choose to. read more

The tech told me that my glasses might break if they tried to repair them. I had gotten my glasses fixed here once for five dollars and it was really easy and fast. He worked for about 8 minutes then brought out my glasses fixed. The service here is always amazing and always quick. They are so nice and friendly. read more

My Mom and I fly from the Big Island to get fitted for our glasses at Paris Miki on Oahu simply because it is the best (and the Big Island lacks quality options for eyeglass frames). The frames at Paris Miki have a professional and classy style. Lucas and Moe provide outstanding service and are seriously just the nicest people who genuinely care about their customers. I can't emphasize that enough! Dr. Hara is also wonderful and easy to talk to. My mom and I love everyone here because they make shopping for glasses such a pleasant, fun experience. I had my glasses ordered and sent to me in Seattle (which are beautiful Diva frames), and Moe even included this sweet note in the box (see attached photo). She also included a list of Washington Paris Miki locations so if I need to get my glasses cleaned or adjusted, I can do so conveniently. How sweet and genuine is that? It made me so happy! Absolutely excellent! Paris Miki is a chain from Japan and their customer service is definitely much like Japan's. Their selection is very extensive and they'll even custom order glasses without the pressure for you to purchase. They have 20% off everything sale in July and December I believe, you can call to check. Their lenses can be more expensive but I promise the quality of it is spectacular. I've been to many other places and nothing lasts as long as Paris Miki's lenses. I used to get the Seiko lenses which were ridiculous but I've opted for the regular lenses (right above polycarbonates) and it really wasn't too bad in price. The glasses are well below MSRP. It was about $20 cheaper than what you'll find at other optical shops. If you couple that with 20% off, then the lenses being a little more expensive will all balance out. I'm done shopping at other optical shops. Paris Miki is the one for me. read more

Excellent. Have been coming here for about a decade. Customer service is always top notch and courteous. I've been wearing glasses since I was 10 years old, so you can imagine the number of pairs I've had over the years. Pricing-sometimes the lenses here can be expensive. Especially if you want multi or bi focal, thin, no scratch, no glare. The lenses are made in Japan and are very high quality. Typically they will be Hoya or Seiko. Lucas or Otagawa San or one of the other staff will show you the price list and you can choose. It's best to get lenses when they have their sale-20% off lenses. ( plus insurance and they will file for you). I usually price shop when I get a new frame.....Lens Crafters tends to be nose bleed expensive. Walmart told me the last time I was there with a new Miu Miu sunglass frame, that they might brake my frame. I exited quickly! I also have a dispensing optician in town that's sometimes less. While in Korea earlier this year, I had high quality French lenses made for $160. This month I went in with a new Tiffany frame and paid about $290 for all the bells and whistle's on my every day lenses. (Price after discount and insurance). Quality is very important to me. Especially since I wear my glasses every day and Paris Miki delivers. Service-always polite. Always excellent and helpful. Location-very convenient with free parking at Ala Moana. On the Diamond Head side near Macy's, street level. There is an on site eye doctor available as well. read more

This review is updated based on my interaction with Lucas who reached out to me after my initial posting of my original review. Lucas contacted me to express their sincere apology for the phone being hung up on me. Technically he said that the call dropped and the associate on the line assumed I hung up. I'm not going to get technical and get into an item which can easily be debatable based on one's point of reference. Lucas expressed great concern over the situation and left an open channel of communication with me should I choose to one day shop at Paris Miki. If you read my updated review for Sacks Optical Boutique, you will know that I ordered new glasses which were shipped to me from California. As the glasses would need to be fitted, I inquired with Lucas if he would be open to fit my new Sama's. Lucas agreed and we eventually had the opportunity to meet. Lucas is very knowledgeable on designer eyewear and knows the Hawaii market. He explained to me why Hawaii does not carry the Japanese or German designers that I prefer. Let's just say it is sheep mentality and individuality suffers from standing out. With that knowledge, Lucas understood the style of frames that I prefer. As he fitted my glasses we chatted for a bit which was a total of two hours. Lucas conveyed through written communication as well as interpersonal communication that he genuinely values customer service. Again, I cannot speak about other workers that are employed at Paris Miki as this review is solely based on my dealings with Lucas. They have one of the best eyewear selections I've found in Honolulu and the service is spot-on. I bought a pair of prescription sunglasses here several years ago and would stop in a few times a year to get my sunglasses adjusted. Each time I'd go in they'd offer to adjust my regular glasses, which I didn't even buy there. I had LASIK and went to Paris Miki to check out their selection of sunglasses now that I can wear non-prescription shades. The sales guy was super attentive and friendly (even with a ne'er do well came in and started obviously casing the joint) and I ended up with *mumble* pairs of sunglasses which cost me *mumblemumble*. They had a 20% sale on everything in the store except the super high-end brands, which helped. I've got to say more about their skill at adjusting glasses. I don't know what kind of training they go through, but after many hours spent at LensCrafters where they dip the glasses into the hot salt, bend the earpiece and put it back on you then rinse and repeat 3423545 times, somehow the Paris Miki folks get it right the FIRST TIME, EVERY TIME. Absolutely great selection of designer and modern frames offering brands such as Versace, Dior, Chanel, Coach, Tory Burch etc. Lucas was really helpful in explaining to me the types of high quality lenses and was realistic and straightforward with prices and options. Wasn't pushy with his sales, but was still available for my questions. Usually when I go to high end shops in Ala Moana, I feel like the locals are often snobbed because of the assumption that we don't have the money to spend the way tourists do. The nose pad on my glasses broke off during my visit here. I walked in where the taller gentlemen greeted me and asked how he could help me. I described my problem, showed him my glasses and he took them to the back where he found the perfect nose pads that would fit my glasses. Along with changing the pads, he tightened the hinges and offered adjustments to the nose pads as needed. Great service and was in and out in a couple minutes. read more

Excellent customer service and products!! Went in a few weeks ago to buy a pair of perscripion glasses for my husband. He tried on a pair of Alain Mikli's and it looked AMAZING on him. It was better than any other pair he tried on at other places in the past so we decided on that pair. My husband went in a few weeks later when we got the call that his special order arrived. He tried on his glasses for the first time and he was so pleased at how clear his vision was! We were told that it might take a little time for him to get used to the glasses because it's a progressive lense but that wasn't the case. My husband said that the lense were so well made that he could easily view the different areas of the lens with no problem!! Vision is so important and I'm so happy that my hubby can see much clearly now! All on all it was money well spent! Thank You Lucas!! Geez. I guess this is what my boy Marcus was talking about when he told me he notices when women grab onto their purses tighter the moment he walked into an elevator. Anyways... I had an eye exam scheduled today for 530. A few days earlier I scouted some frames I really loved and was sure I'd be back to get them. So I was stoked to come back. I get off work and arrive sooner than expected around 445 to try on some extra frames and/or to hopefully slide in for an earlier appointment. I walk in and notice there were three people working. The customers inside were just me and another person who was sitting and looked like he was waiting for his frames to finish up. The number one rule I think every retail establishment should have is to greet people when they walk in. And if greeting them doesn't happen, at least ask if they need help with anything. I mean, come on, if Subway can do it, so can a pricey eyeglass business with the name Paris in it can too. So I thought... Obviously, this did not happen. For 20 minutes or so I walked around their tiny store trying on frame after frame while the workers stayed at a distance watching me. There was no background music so it was awkwardly silent in there. I paced to the other side of the store where the more expensive frames where and I notice one of the workers reposition themselves to keep a better eye on me (maybe it was coincidence). Still no one approaches and asks if I need help. I then go back to the area where the frames I liked best were and just stood there for a solid 2 minutes. Nothing. I glance into a side mirror that views behind me and notice the worker who repositioned himself was watching me with his arms crossed. The entire time there I felt like a criminal or someone being stereotyped against that had no $$$. haha. owell. By this point, my patience had run out. I leave. As I'm standing outside their store, I decide to call them and cancel my appointment. I calmly explain to them why, and all the lady had to say was OK, NO PROBLEM. Not one peep of an apology. This place has lost my business for sure and has been inducted into my infamous F-Bombs list. Looks like Greg A. had a similar experience. What a bummer. read more

I have had 2 experiences with purchasing my prescription eyeglasses for the last 5 years. I need them mainly for distance, driving, on my computer at work. My first purchase was and still is, is a Coach brand frame single vision. I love this pair, alas today I thought I've worn it for 3 years, but Lucas looked at my record and it's 5 years old. OMG! See? That's how good my eyewear is. Only a few scratches on the lenses but only I can see it. I thought about how now I appreciate the service there. Lucas is very knowledgeable and explained things in detail. Being that this is a Japan chain optical shoppe, it seems as soon as you walk in they know what glasses would fit your Asian features. I am a local FilIpiña and definitely I know I have issues with finding the perfect nose guard. Lucas picks out the best styles and accommodates me to my needs. I ordered my new Eyeglasses today, but I don't mind it will be 3 to 4 weeks because the lenses are made in Japan. High quality product. I just had the pleasant experience of working with Lucas at Paris Miki to purchase a new pair of prescription sunglasses. From the initial visit to the store to view the selection of frames, we were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. The selection of frames is large with all price points and styles. Lucas met with us each time we stopped in and took time to show me a wide variety of options. While I ultimately decided on a pair of Maui Jim frames, I felt confident with Lucas' assistance I had explored all options and was making the best choice based on my needs. While I expected the glasses to take up to two weeks to arrive they were in fact ready in just 2 days, amazing. I would highly recommend visiting Paris Miki. While Lucas is our contact in the location, we were always greeted by the other associates if Lucas was busy. Overall a very pleasant experience. I went there for prescription. Dr. Hara didn't let me know my insurance covers only contact lens or glasses. She gave me both and was charged for $45 where insurance could have covered everything. I called them but she was very mean, did nothing. She even charged me 'fitting fee'. She asked me what kind of contact lens I've used so I told her I've used accuse 2 weeks and oasis. She only gave me prescription for acvue 2 which no one uses anymore nowadays. I didn't want to go back so I've just got 8 boxes (that my insurance covers) for old contact lens. I bet they needed to give away those as no one buys them anymore or that was the cheapest contact they had to give out. I felt I was cheated. I'll never go back. read more

i have perfect vision my entire life up until recently and i finally need reading glasses. i'm thinking getting my first pairs of glasses is the same as getting my first car, getting my first house, getting my first whatever, i want the best that i can afford. my doctor's office has very limited selections and my friend told me about paris miki. after reading reviews here and i decided to give it a try. lucas greeted me once i stepped in the shop and i told him my reason there. oh, boy! the reviews about lucas is no joke! he really rocks! this is my first eyeglasses shopping experience but not my first shopping experience. i seriously have never ever talked to someone like him! i asked him some questions that i think most of the people will ask. he was trying to help me get the best, not the most expensive, pairs by asking me questions that i have never thought about. he really knows his stuff and his patience is ridiculous! i was enjoying every single minute with him and totally lost track of time. i ended up walk out without any purchase on that day just because i needed to go to my next appointment. i feel so bad after i looked at the time. he spent so much time with me and didn't even get a chance to eat. i told him i'll definitely go back and buy him lunch next time but he kindly rejected my offer and told me he was having so much fun himself as well. wow! i really need to look up all the good words from a dictionary and put everything here...lol. lucas, i'll go see you again in the very near future and i'll call you before i go so you better eat first...hahaha... thank you so very much, lucas!!! read more

I bought a pair of Maui Jim prescription sunglasses from Paris Miki. Service to place my order was fine, however, 4 months later I noticed something wrong with one of the lenses - it appears that the reflective coating is coming off. I returned to Paris Miki, but was told they could not help me, that I had to contact Maui Jim directly. Since I bought the glasses from Paris Miki, I would think they should be the one to assist in the problem, not send me back to the manufacturer. I experienced this same lens problem with a previous pair of Maui Jim prescription sunglasses that I purchased from another glasses retail store and the person there was apologetic and immediately sent my glasses back to Maui Jim for a quick and excellent repair! That was excellent service, something Paris Miki should try to develop. I will not go back to Paris Miki for glasses again and would not recommend them. read more

This is a great place to get glasses if you are willing to spend a few $100. I have to admit I don't prioritize glasses and usually buy them very casually from wherever is convenient-- a chain store, Costco, online, etc. I ended up at Paris Miki because....I'm not sure. Anyway, they have very nice frames, including frames that are specially modified to fit Asian faces. And the staff can look at your face and nose and tell which glasses would be comfortable for you. The other benefit is that their lenses are WAY better than lens crafters or four eyes or chains like that. I think the lenses come from Japan (in the case of the sunglasses, they literally sent the frames to Japan to get the lenses fit there). I always get the lightest, thinnest lenses that any store offers and the lenses here are much lighter and thinner than the lenses in my other glasses. The sales person also spent quite a lot of time with me and pushed me out of my comfort zone towards glasses that were a different style from my previous glasses. I probably tried on 30 or 40 pairs?? I love my Tom Ford glasses. They are so comfortable and stylish, and I'm glad I went to Paris Miki. It costs more, but it's very much worth it for the quality, the selection, and the very personalized service. read more

i don't know about greg a's experience. i've noticed they have a few japanese staff but i was treated by a younger asian man who could speak fluent english and had no problem understand me! i have never had a better shopping experience in my life, let alone shop for glasses! he was extremely helpful and patience. i'm very sorry but i forgot his name even i shopped there a few times. all i know is he has very good taste not only on his glasses but his clothes and hairdo, too. lol! anyway, i'm a very picky person and he spent hours picking and explaining the pros and cons of each frame/sunglasses. i'm talking about 3-5 hours!!! no, not that you need to spend that long to get a pair of glasses but i just have too many questions for him. did i say i'm picky? lol. poor thing! he told me what style, shape, color matches me better and not only on my face but my hair color, my uniform and normal outfits! he also asked me how often or in what occasions do i wear my glasses since i wear my contacts about 50% of the time. i was treated like a super vip by a crazy nice personal shopper in an ultra high end store! maybe i need to ask him to come to my house to check out my wardrobes or i need to show him pictures of them one day. lol! as far as the time to complete the glasses, it varies. i usually opted for the better quality japanese lenses and it'll take around couple weeks, give or take. but i did get a pair of for distance only glasses and only took them 10-15 minutes to complete!!! yes, not one hour! not 10-15 hours! not 10-15 days but 10-15 minutes!!! i didn't time them as i was talking to my "personal shopper" the whole time. we were talking and laughing and the glasses were ready all of a sudden! i was shocked! that's what i called service! george ann s., i understand your frustration but i think it's not uncommon to sort help through the companies/manufacturers instead of the retail stores. a friend of mine once bought a watch for around $900, forgot where, and he noticed the minute or second hand didn't run smoothly after 4-5 months. he shipped the watch to the warranty department and got it back in two months. he even had to paid for both way shipping fees. but did he complain? not even a bit and still went back to the same shop for more watches. so if the same thing ever happened again, i suggest you to check your warranty paperwork or online before heading to the place you bought it. by the way, i forgot to say that young man has a sense of humor and seems like he knows everything, not only glasses related. too bad the shop doesn't belong to him and he told me he only works there on the weekends. i didn't want to be nosy and i didn't ask him why. but all i want to say is paris miki better give him good enough pay to keep him or he could easily snatch by other retailers. i could lose my "personal shopper" or i could end up having the same experience as greg a. hahaha... sorry, my handsome personal shopper, i still can't remember your name. oops! i better ask your card again next time. thank you for all your help again! read more
