I heard some good comments about Dr. Chang at Eye Doctors Hawaii so I called to schedule an appointment. You will need to have a referral from your primary care physician. I was pleasantly surprised to get an appointment scheduled in the next two weeks with Dr. Chang. Ester who is the office administrator then called me back after a few days and asked if I could make an earlier visit due to another cancellation. I arrived this afternoon at their Hawaii Kai Corporate Center. There is ample parking and a nice short stroll through the beautifully landscaped grounds to their office. I was asked to fill out some forms then was called into the exam rooms by Sung who is one of the medical assistants there. She was very friendly and pleasant. She explained all of the tests and procedures she was performing on me for the eye exams. Dr. Chang is very professional, explained everything about my exam to me in detail and asked if I had any questions. The office is spacious with a friendly staff of assistants. I had a very good visit to Eye Doctors Hawaii and will highly recommend Dr. Chang and his staff for anyone needing eye health services.

Office manager writes later "there was a scratch and we had to reorder, another 3 days". Pick up my progressives and put them on. Almost fall to my knees the first day from nausea. I went back and was told they're almost a cm off. Doesn't sound like much, but this is a Google search about 1 cm error: A 1 cm (10 mm) pupillary distance error in progressive lenses is considered very severe and far outside accepted standards; it will almost always require a remake of the lenses.[lensmartonline +1] What the usual tolerance is * For progressives, the ANSI Z80.1 standard says the fitting cross (where your eye is meant to align) should be within about 1 mm of the specified monocular PD. (My glasses were 10x outside of standard error!!!). STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE.

The vision in my right eye began diminishing nearly two years ago. At first it felt like I was seeing the world through plastic wrap smeared with bacon grease; over time it worsened into what seemed like wrinkled paper. I was scared I might lose sight in that eye. I had to depend solely on my left eye and felt unsafe driving at night because headlights became blinding spotlights. At Jenkins Eye Clinic I learned I had cataracts in both eyes. The staff were pleasant, knowledgeable, accommodating, and compassionate. I was a little devastated at first -- I thought I was too young -- but Dr. Nikpoor put me at ease. She explained what to expect before and after the procedure, answered all my questions about vision outcomes, pain, downtime, and cost, and helped me schedule bilateral cataract surgery for early April. My procedure was scheduled for 8:00 a.m., and I was out by 9:30 a.m. Tears of joy escaped my eyes when I realized I could see through my right eye again. The vision felt different -- somehow better. Colors, especially blue, are deeper and more vivid; whites are more brilliant. I can now safely drive at night without fear. We learn, play sports, watch movies, read, enjoy sunsets and fireworks, etc. through our eyes. What would we do without them? I first visited Jenkins Eye Care in 2000 and had LASIK surgery. The best result was getting rid of contact lenses! That one inconvenience was gone from my daily routine! What a relief! Recently, my optometrist noticed that I had the beginnings of cataracts. So many people advised me to get the surgery as soon as possible, so... Okay... I went for the exam/consultation and now am waiting to schedule the surgery. It's such a popular procedure that the office is backed up for months! I'm looking forward to interacting with the professional, patient, and pleasant staff again! Admittedly, since moving into the Kaka'ako neighborhood, I've been spoiled by the short 2-mile drives from my home to Kapi'olani Medical Center, where my women's health care physicians are located. In the past, I've never had to travel any further than 8 miles to Kapi'olani Medical Center. However, because I was still recovering from my total knee replacement surgery, which was done in late July, I had to reschedule my annual September exam for my lady-bits to December. In June, when I called the women's health clinic to reschedule the yearly exam, the receptionist notified me that my GYN (Dr. Gary Kimoto) was transferring his practice to the Straub Benioff Medical Center - Hawaii Kai, and that scheduling patient visits past September wasn't available yet. The receptionist recommended that I call again in September to check availability for December. Of course, his office did inform me there were several other physicians within the Kapi'olani Women's Health Clinic who I could select for either an earlier appointment in October or November at the convenient Honolulu medical center, but, since I wasn't in a rush for an appointment and out of respect, I preferred to have Dr. Kimoto provide a referral. Anyway, I got the directions to this Hawai'i Kai Clinic from one of the receptionists, who gave succinct instructions to drive and turn left onto Lunalilo Home Road from Kalaniana'ole Highway, turn into the driveway and parking lot where the Taco Bell is located, and look towards the mountainside of the parking lot for the covered walkway. Fortunately, we had a 30-minute leisurely drive to East O'ahu during mid-morning, didn't encounter heavy traffic, and arrived 20 minutes before the anticipated check-in time. Upon entering the clinic, five receptionists were either handling phone calls or attending to walk-in patients. One of the friendly receptionists greeted me, and I informed her of my appointment time and provided her with my identification and medical insurance cards. She verified that all the information was on file and pointed towards the patient lobby on my left. I waited no longer than 15 minutes when Dr. Kimoto's nurse assistant, Victoria, came out to escort me to an examination room. While following her from the lobby to the exam rooms, I started to feel like I was in a labyrinth and did my best to look for clues that would lead me out. Unlike sitting in a cold examination room at the medical center while having my vitals taken and verifying my medical information, the exam room was comfortable, warm, and cozy. I was so relaxed that even my blood pressure and pulse rate, which are usually elevated due to "white coat syndrome," were at low levels like when I was an avid runner. LOL! If I lived in East O'ahu and needed convenient, compassionate, and quality health care with friendly service, I'd recommend this clinic. However, I don't know whether this clinic is equipped to handle major medical emergencies or procedures.

It's only been 1-2 weeks but they are much flatter and have not itched since injection. In addition, they recently renovated their office and it's beautiful! Check in is always a breeze. Israel and Dr. Lee (along with the rest of the office) are extremely personable. I appreciate the time they take to know me as a person & the information they share about what is being done!

In this paperwork - I requested that my images not be used for social media. There is a $200 consultation fee that is applicable to the procedure. Surgery was scheduled the very next day and was relatively painless. The office staff, PA, etc. were all friendly. The office was clean. ************************************* The bad: I now have a scar that is whiter and a tad bit larger than the Xanthelasma that was removed. I now feel like the small smooth yellow buttery Xanthelasma was prettier and less noticeable than the new white rough scar .. ugh.... I keep asking myself what was the point of paying around $1,200 (ouch) to have it removed. I have been using silicone gel & tape as they recommended - but it hasn't helped. I have a consult scheduled with another plastic surgeon to see if anything can be done. My photos were used for social media (Instagram story) even though I requested they not be used when filling out the paperwork. The final straw that led me to write this review - I received a bill today, almost a month later - for $200 even though I paid everything up front. My friend who was also a military dependent at the time paid 3800 for both eyes. I negotiated with the Dr. and he said he could do it for 3900. A month later, I got a bill for thier FREE consultation priced over $240. I was stunned because on the website it said free and even the day of the consultation, I made sure with the receptionist as well. (Matter fact I have never seen any eye doctor who does not do free consultation for lasik). I called the office to have the matter corrected numerous times and the lady who is in charge of billing never picks up her phone so I left voice messages every time, yet NEVER calls me back. I went on their website again and they clearly say free consultation. On top of that, now I found the price list for lasik and they quoated me higher price than what it is listed on their websited even after the negotiation. This business is a scam. I would never ever get anything done here if I were you. I totally believe the one star review someone else left about this Dr. office.
