My friend has done LASIK surgery at Hawaii Vision Center before so I decided to have a free consultation with them.. Once I submitted their online form, I got a call back and Robert left me a detail message including pricing. He said to go in for Aiea location for the consultation. The day I went in, the office looked really cluttered and unorganized. I saw muliple personal items of the staffs just left around in the office... When I was doing the eye exam, I could not see well on one eye, was wondering why....then after a while I figured their machine lense was dirty, and I had to tell the Dr. it was the lense. I have never had that happen to me at an eye doctor before. The price I got over the phone was 4100 dollars for military dependent. My friend who was also a military dependent at the time paid 3800 for both eyes. I negotiated with the Dr. and he said he could do it for 3900. A month later, I got a bill for thier FREE consultation priced over $240. I was stunned because on the website it said free and even the day of the consultation, I made sure with the receptionist as well. (Matter fact I have never seen any eye doctor who does not do free consultation for lasik). I called the office to have the matter corrected numerous times and the lady who is in charge of billing never picks up her phone so I left voice messages every time, yet NEVER calls me back. I went on their website again and they clearly say free consultation. On top of that, now I found the price list for lasik and they quoated me higher price than what it is listed on their websited even after the negotiation. This business is a scam. While I was entering my monthly reminder data for next year's eye appointment, I just remember that how wonderful Dr. Marissa Matsuyama was. Ladies at reception were very responsive and kind, and I was able to see Dr. Matsuyama right on time. Dr. Matsuyama was very thorough on eye examination, clear about my eye conditions, sincere by asking how I was feeling, patient even being bombarded with multiple questions and answered in the way I can understand. She also gave me information of how to care for dry eye conditions at home. It really worked best, much better than eye drops! Her cheerfulness and professionalism really impressed me! Love Dr. Gee and his staff. Had my PRK done last year, and although the healing time and recovery with PRK is longer than with LASIK, I am so glad I did it. I have the same sentiments as almost everyone else... why did I wait so long to do this? I had to wear glasses for a couple weeks before my consultation... and my glasses gave me migraines (since I never really wear them). So... right after my consult... I told them I would take the first available surgery date - just so that I wouldn't have to wear glasses any longer. Staff were very accommodating and fit me in two days! I had to quickly get all my prescriptions. Surgery itself was quick. Post surgery was painful... but then again I had PRK and it was expected. Overall, would I do it again? Go through the pain with PRK?... I would have to say... hell yes! They were so lovely and genuinely caring! PS - here's my tip for parking and locating them in their new office space: also... they have merged under Hawaii Vision Clinic. Go up the ramp and turn right into guest parking lot. After parking, walk back toward the parking entrance. There are glass doors that say Pan Pacific Laser/Hawaii Vision Clinic. Buzz the doorbell and they will unlock the door. I have a disabled child and I'm new to Hawaii. Of course she broke her glasses at school recently and is also in need of an updated rx. It has been HELL finding someone to perform her exam. We finally found a place that told us they could do it over the phone. But when she arrived, they tried to give my non verbal daughter a standard exam. It obviously didn't work. Thank GOODNESS I found Dr Ing! His staff is super sweet and empathetic. They understood her needs and made sure they could accommodate her before scheduling. Finally got a chance to sit and write a review. Hadn't had my LASIK done yet (May 30, 2012 to be exact) but wanted to share my consultation experience. I parked at the side street metered parking ($.25 per 20 minutes). I think I'll be parking at wal-mart the next time around. And soon as i walk into the door, the nurses welcomed me in. The waiting room had a few patience in there probably from groupon as well as the name came about every often amongst the patience and nurses. They took few eye test and made me watch a 15 minute video. After that, I was told to wait in the waiting room. While waiting, there was a cute fella who was probably there for his follow up after his surgery. Kinda didn't see him wearing glasses or anything. Keawe was his name. Reason why i remembered was because the nurses was making fun of his name "keawe wood." Hmmm, maybe he'll have another follow up on the day of my surgery. Lol! Wishful thinking! Anyways, after waiting and filling up papers, then Dr gee dilated my eyes. Note to other patience, if you got your own super dark sunglasses, then bring it. The ones that they have is not fashionably flattering. Got my eyes tested and Dr. Gee approved that LASIK is for me. Got me scheduled as early as they can get me in and I'm super excited! She has this disease due to her age and needs to take AREDS supplements as preventative measure. The g3 juices are also helpful as well. I am writing this review as a dig about Yelp. Maybe reviews are great or a strong complaint, so on average a potential client should have a good idea of what to expect, right? I found the Hawaii Vision Clinic was pleasant, everyone was caring and thoughtful. If I just wanted to hang out with some nice people, they're great. In the end, I went there to get a new pair of glasses. To make a long story short, the bifocals are not working. I have at least six pair of bifocals in the house, none of them have such a sharp, heavy line dividing the distance and close up vision, which creates a blur as I struggle to find a head position for a clear vision of (well) anything other than the glass edge of the lens. Maybe I could give them to charity. I am still wearing my old glasses, with the crack in the corner. At least I can see with these glasses. Tomorrow I will start this adventure again, without any suggestions from Yelp. read more

During the video you can hear one of the Techs speaking to my wife and my mother in law. My vision is -5.25 and -5.75, my eyes did not change in the last 4 or 5 years. I picked PRK do to the good track record and its the only one the military uses. Lasik has fast recovery but more issues with flaps, and halos, or starburst such as my coworker. Like many other reviewers, I too took advantage of a Living Social deal that offered a credit of $2,000 for just $100. A few days later, I called Pan Pacific Laser and scheduled my consultation and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they were able to see me, and the in-depth information that was provided to me by phone and again via email when the new patient paperwork arrived. The person I spoke with on the phone also reviewed the out of pocket costs with me which were extremely reasonable at about $3k total which included all aftercare for about one year. Located in the Naru Tower off of Ala Moana Boulevard, Pan Pacific Laser is easy to locate and offers plenty of free parking. The comprehensive eye exam consisted of what felt like hundreds of measurements and vision tests each of which did something different. Ultimately, it was determined I was not a candidate for laser eye corrective surgery. You may be reading this now and wondering why on earth I'm still giving Pan Pacific a five (5) star rating, and I'll explain why. The doctor who met with me went into great detail regarding why I'm ultimately not a good candidate for surgery and the risk factors of the surgery to include making my eyesight worse. He shared with me other options and further advised that the options he was sharing with me were not surgeries, etc. that he would perform, illustrating that he was not interested in his bottom dollar, but truly interested in my eyes and their best interest. I would recommend anyone looking into Lasik or PRK to contact Pan Pacific Laser for a consultation. That means I could see at 20 feet what a person with 20/20 vision would be able to see at 650 feet. Translation: I was legally blind. Vision impairment is more than just a physical handicap; it has its emotional and mental effects as well. I started using glasses when I was 8 years old, transitioned to contacts in the 7th grade, and had 20/200 vision or worse by the age of 12. I had the wavefront guided LASIK surgery two months ago (November 9, 2012) and I have 20/20 vision now. NO halos, no night aberrations, just perfect vision. (Cue Jimmy Cliff's "I Can See Clearly Now"....) My advice to any prospective LASIK/PRK candidates: Get the groupon. The treatment and technique is the same and you shave off half the price. I initially came to Pan Pacific to get a second opinion for my candidacy for corrective eye surgery. Dr Gee is super friendly and informative. He got into more nitty gritty details about my eyes than the previous center did. Gave me a sense of reassurance that my eyes were in attention to detail hands. Luckily, soon after my consult with Dr. Gee, their office came out with a discount on Groupon! Figuring fate was telling me something, I went ahead and booked the coupon. Had a couple of followups and soon after my dilation, Dr Gee cleared me for surgery! and within the week. I had never heard of this place before until my ex-fiance's boss had given me a referal card to come here. I had always wanted lasik eye surgery but never thought I could afford it. I was wrong. The staff is really friendly and Dr. Gee is really great. The questions I had, he knew how to answer them and it help to reassure me that he knew what he was doing. I thought the surgery was going to be painful and really uncomfortable and literally had a panic attack the night before. HAHA. The day of the surgery, Dr. Gee handed me a Teddy Bear that stays in the office and gives patients that calming feeling like someone's holding your hand throughout the whole procedure. The surgery didn't take long at all, I think I was in the "operating room" for no more than 20-30 minutes. The surgery took maybe 5 minutes on each eye. And they say that it smells like hair burning, trust me, it smells far worse. I got nauseous from the smell. Haha, but it didn't last long. I also had an astigmatism in my left eye, and at first after the procedure was done, I still had it. But now that my eyes had more time to heal, I've noticed that my astigmatism is slowly being corrected with the healing of my eyes. It's barely noticable now. And sometimes, I forget that I even had surgery. I keep thinking I have my contacts on. But it feels so great to wake up in the morning and being able to see! This is the location that my Kaiser surgeon, Dr Hu, uses for LASIK. Just had LASIK a second time. The first was in NYC, in 2001. The staff at this office is very friendly and knowledgeable. After 11 years, my vision had gone a little blurry again. I went to Aloha Laser Vision and was told that you can't do LASIK twice. I later found out that the doctor there doesn't do it because of potential issues. After I went to my eye check-up at Kaiser, my eye doctor suggested getting a second opinion from the Kaiser surgeon. Dr Hu found that my eyes were still good for a LASIK touch-up. I decided to just correct my dominate right eye and keep my left eye for reading. Dr Hu was able to lift the original flap and make the adjustment. I woke up today seeing crystal clear again. YAY! I highly recommend Dr Hu(of Kaiser) and Pan Pacific! read more

Just got back from a long weekend trip and hadn't anticipated how nice it'd be to leave all the contacts/supplies at home. Way less to worry about. I'm looking forward to bringing my new eyes on an extended trip next month. The Good: Great service, good location, the staff were helpful, Dr Gee has great "bedside manor". He's more than willing to take time to explain risks, benefits, what to expect etc. He'll dumb it down for you too if you ask (eye's are very complicated apparently). Great follow up care. I cant really say anything negative. I can't believe that I had PRK surgery on my eyes nearly 4 years ago! I had really bad eyes, don't know what my vision was, but my contacts prescription was -7.5 (if that tells you anything). Even years before I actually had PRK done by Dr. Gee, I was contemplating about getting vision correction surgery. As everyone, I was exteremely apprehensive about doing it because you only have one pair of eyes! Well, I was forturnate enough to get a friend to come along with me and get surgery too! (No, we didn't get a 2-for-1 deal, but I wish we did!) We had consultations with two doctors, and ended up with Dr. Gee. We felt that his patience and non-pushy sales tactics to fix your eyes. I went in inquiring about Lasik, but he recommended that PRK was better for me. If you really want to see without your glasses, I'd really recommend seeing Dr. Gee! I see that Pan Pacific Laser Vision Center has Groupons a lot, but there is no price tag on getting your vision back. I paid the full price, and don't regret it. The recovery time for PRK is a little longer than Lasik, but I am 20/20 now, and LOVING IT!!!!!! I had some side effects, but I knew what to expect (dry eyes, halos at night, light sensitivity, double vision). But all that went away within a few months. Here's what I don't need now: - I don't need glasses. - I don't need to push my glasses up from my nose because my lenses are so thick and heavy. - I don't need to worry about if I look geeky. - I don't need to squint and go six inches in front of my clock in the middle of the night to see what time it is. - I don't need to put my contacts on every monring and take them off every night. - I don't need to keep buying contacts solution. I have wanted to get my eyes done since 1994, but was unsure of the procedure. While living in Kauai, and sick of losing my contacts in the surf, I went to get a consultation with Dr. Meyers. The nice thing was that he works with the Pan-Pacific Laser Center on Oahu. I had several visits with my Dr. in Kauai to make sure all the measurements and tests were accurate, then flew to Oahu for the procedure. On the day of the surgery, the staff once again made sure that all the numbers were accurate and did a fantastic job on the procedure. This was in April of 2006 and I am still very pleased with the results. There isn't a day that I wake up where I am not thankful for my sight. Don't skimp on those advertised specials. My first visit there today, because former doc retiring. These folks were recommended.. The staff was great when I a arrived and the doctor was very efficient and pleasant. I was very dismayed that they put me in a room and left me there for 45 minutes, I told the doc that was not very acceptable. I was there for a total 2 hours for a routine exam, I really had some questions but it was getting late, there was a thunder storm and the computer went down. I was very happy at first but left disappointed and then spent 45 minutes trying to get home which was 2 miles away because of rush hour and rain. I have NEVER spent 2 hours at an eye doctor with over 45 minutes staring at a wall in an exam room. I might go back next year but will not endure this again. read more

I just finished my post-op visit and I have to say that getting Lasik done has been some of the best money that I have ever spent! All of the benefits of glasses/contacts without the hassle. If you have vision problems you HAVE to at least check if Lasik is an option for you! With that being said, if you are thinking of getting Lasik, you have to go to Pan Pacific Laser Vision. Milad , Dr Gee and the rest of the staff there made the experience that much more enjoyable with their service. The day of the operation I was having a little bit of cold feet (it only occurred to me 20 min before the operation that someone was going to be cutting into my eye that morning) but the staff put me at ease telling me how safe the procedure is and how much experience Dr Gee has with Lasik. That did the trick and I was ready to go! The procedure only took 20 mins, and after going home for a 3 hour nap, my vision is 20/15. Simply amazing! I have been telling my co-workers that its almost like having Superman's X-Ray vision. The world is so much clearer! Again some of the best money I have ever spent. If you are thinking of getting Lasik, you should do it! If you have already decided to do Lasik, you have to do it with Dr Gee and Pan Pacific Laser! You won't regret it! read more
