What went well, well everything. The whole staff is engaged and caring and smart. Dr. Faulkner is one of a kind. His knowledge, his focus, his calm nature, and his coordination with the support staff in surgery was so comforting. Do you know how hard it is feeling comfortable during eye surgery? Well this team did just that, made me feel cared for and safe. I see, literally, now, why they are number one in their field. read more

This year, I had my regular eye exam at Aloha Laser Vision. Fortunately, my eyes are healthy, so I didn't feel the need to continue seeing the medical eye doctor I had been visiting. The clinic is located on the 10th floor of First Insurance Billing, at the corner of Ward and Beretania. With the holiday season in full swing, the clinic was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Other than that, the entire clinic was very clean, and I felt completely comfortable and at ease during my exam. When I choose a clinic, cleanliness and the smooth flow of the staff are key factors for me, and Aloha Laser Vision excelled in both areas. The eye doctor who attended me was a young and friendly woman, efficient in her work and very thorough in explaining everything I needed to know. I was happy to receive great feedback and it made me think again about the importance of maintaining healthy habits and eye care to keep my eyes in good condition. While some eye doctors attribute vision problems to aging or genetics, I prefer doctors who motivate and encourage their patients. I want to take care of my eyes properly so that next year, I can get great results at my eye exam again. The ability to instantly check the clinic summary online is also a very useful tool for patients. A well-organized clinic automatically builds trust! read more

Aloha Laser Vision - Right after surgery - Ophthalmologists Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

If I could give Aloha Laser Vision more than 10 stars, I would--assuming I could still count that high with how dazzled I am by my perfect vision. From the second I walked in, I was treated like more than just a patient. The staff? Absolute legends. Friendly, professional, and so comforting, I half expected them to offer me a beer and poke. The doctors? Hogwarts Wizards in white coats. Calm, confident, and clearly masters of their craft. They explained everything in a way that made sense, calmed my nerves, and made me feel like I was in the best hands possible--which, spoiler alert, I was. The atmosphere is so relaxing you almost forget you're there for eye surgery. And by the time I walked out (with better vision than I ever thought possible), I wasn't just a satisfied customer--I felt like part of the family. In short: great experience, amazing people, and crystal-clear results. 10/10 would recommend--unless you like squinting at street signs and fumbling for your glasses in the morning. read more

Great service. Staff are friendly and efficient. They communicate well and listened to my needs.

I had cataract surgery on the first of April and the next day at the post operation exam. I was amazed at how much better my left eye was. My exam review found that I had 20/20 vision in my left eye. On the 15 of this month I had my right eye surgery and I was even more amazed. The Dr did a far vision and then he did a little of the close vision too . I have been able to read without reading glasses . I can't thank all the doctors at Aloha vision ! read more

I was extremely impressed with all the aloha given from all the employees in the office. As for my free consultation, I was extremely impressed with all the in-depth scanning machines used in the process. I was 100% confident I was finally going to get my Lasik procedure done here at Aloha Lazer Vision. As I am now a few hours into getting my Lasik done. The results are amazing. I'm excited no longer to wear my contacts or glasses in the future. I'm extremely excited to see how my vision results are after my eyes fully heal. Free consultation is worth it. I have used Aloha Laser Vision for years including having lenses replaced in both eyes. From the first time I had an appointment back in 2019 to my most recent visit in March of 2026 I have been treated by the most courteous and caring staff and doctors. I've never had an issue making an appointment and they have been there for emergency last minute appointments as well. My lense replacement was a great decision and I went from needing glasses for everything to not needing them at all. Super pleased with the outcome and I would highly recommend Aloha Laser Vision for all of your eye care. read more

Always very satisfactory when I'm done at Aloha Laser Vision. Even if I'm there very early, they take me in within a few minutes, and don't have long to wait there either. Staff is very nice and efficient, and the doctor gave me sample eye drops to help address my dry eyes. And even though they dilated my eyes, I could still drive back home afterward! read more

Aloha Laser Clinic in Honolulu is, by far, the most competent, patient-centered, and genuinely caring medical organization I have experienced over many years as an extremely satisfied patient. I believe I presented one of the most challenging cataract cases due to the complexity of my existing eye conditions and the level of caution required. It took the full medical team nearly ten months of intensive, carefully coordinated treatment to deliver outstanding results--both in visual acuity and long-term eye health. The outcomes have been nothing short of remarkable. Every great organization requires an exceptional leader, and at Aloha Laser Vision, that leader is Dr. Alan Faulkner. He is a no-nonsense, highly competent, and candid surgeon who combines technical excellence with genuine care. Dr. Faulkner clearly laid out a comprehensive treatment plan that gave me confidence at every step. His recommendations were thoughtful, evidence-based, and executed with precision. His outstanding optometry team--Drs. Kathryn Mau, Jordan Schmerbauch, and Elizabeth HanoHano-Hong--played an indispensable role throughout my care. They provided meticulous eye-health monitoring, thorough examinations, visual acuity measurements, and precise UV adjustments, all with unwavering attention to my overall health. Their technical expertise was exceptional, but what stood out most was their willingness to listen carefully and truly understand the condition of my eyes. At no point did I feel rushed or treated like a number on an assembly line. The support staff reflected the same culture of excellence and compassion. From the skilled technicians (Gabby, Aly, Rachel, Priscila, and Keala) to the front desk and counseling team members (Lei, Jackie, Jasmine, and Christina) everyone worked seamlessly together to provide outstanding, coordinated care. In short, this is a winning team that I trust completely. Aloha Laser Clinic continues to deliver care for those who understand that clear vision is essential to living a life of freedom, safety, and confidence. Mahalo nui loa! read more

The office visit the staff working there friendly and professional and the doctor was super cool but very professional

I LOVE Aloha Laser! I am 58 years old and have been wearing glasses since I was about 45. My initial consultation for lasik was over 5 years ago. I held off until Jan 2023, and then opted for refractive lens exchange (basically cataract surgery). The cost is pricey (12k-ish for both eyes) since it was considered an elective surgery, however I consider it very well worth it! I got the Panoptix lenses in both eyes. No more eye glasses! As warned, the panoptix can require more light to read in low light settings and you will see halos (rings) of light around head/taillights at night. I don't even notice it anymore. I am eyeglass free for reading and distance. Zero need for any form of corrective lens in any situation! I am so happy I chose to do this! Aloha Laser has a large staff as well and they are all very courteous, friendly, and respectful. I can't praise the location enough. Trust me and call for your free consultation. Btw - the consultation is so elaborate and precise. Your regular eye doctor doesn't do everything they do. Aloha! read more

I cannot emphasize enough: Dr Faulkner is a top, experienced, skilled, and professionally thorough and careful surgeon. As part of a cataract removal surgery, I wanted a premium multifocal lens that provided vision in all three zones without the need for glasses. Originally, I went to a different surgeon for the first eye and the result was poor vision. So, I went to the highly recommended Dr Faulkner to do the 2nd eye. I learned my case was complicated due to the shape of my cornea. In my case, the success of a multifocal lens would require additional precision cuts to the cornea. I learned not every surgeon has this high level of experience and skill that Dr. Faulkner has. Step 1 was a 2/1/2 hour thorough exam of my eye by a team of skilled and professional technicians and doctors using state of the art equipment. When my eye was found to be dry, they had me treat the dry eye condition for one week, and then they repeated a portion of my exam - just to be extra careful and sure. Once my eye was thoroughly examined, Dr Faulkner and his team spent a huge amount of time discussing the complexities of my case and options I had. And, they listened to my concerns. After careful analysis of every aspect of my eye and my concerns, Dr Faulkner planned and executed my surgery with the utmost expertise. The result: my right eye can see better than my highest expectations. I am so thrilled. THOSE OF YOU READING THIS REVIEW, PLEASE BE ADVISED, NOT EVERY SURGEON IS THE SAME. This is your eye; you are in expert hands with Dr Faulkner, and the entire team at Aloha Laser Vision. And get this: He charged $1,000 less than the less competent surgeon. read more

I got Lasik done a couple years ago from here and I'm so happy with my results. The staff that helped me thought the process was so patient. Dr. Faulkner performed the surgery on me. The procedure itself was painless, I was given a valium beforehand for the jitters. Like I mentioned, I got this done about 3 years ago, but my eyesight is perfect now! read more

Went in for consultation today and was surprised with all the checks with the Hi-Tech machinery being free! The unit/office is beautiful plus the staff and friendly. Parking is free with validation. I will do RLE in the near future and glad to know that they can have access to most FDA approved lens for you're a good candidate. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Kathrine Mau for over 10 years. She has been nothing but wonderful in every way. I highly recommend Aloha Laser to everyone and will continue being a patient there. read more

Aloha Laser Vision has beeen a dream. After my most recent annual eye exam, I asked my optometrist about LASIK, and if I might be a good candidate. My optometrist shared that Aloha Laser Vision was offering LASIK to Lahaina residents. After a tumultuous few months, any and all positive news was welcome and I really couldn't believe the offer. However, my optometrist on Maui made it easy , and connected me with Christina from Aloha Laser Vision. The initial phone call with Christina was indicative of the quality of service and professionalism I would experience with Dr. Falkner and his team. I flew in to Oahu on a Wednesday with my CSA, and worked with Katie and had my pre-op with Dr. Mau. Katie was great and explained everything thoroughly, and Dr. Mau was awesome. She, along with my surgeon, Dr. Nempoor, determined I would be best candidate for PRK vs LASIK. They explained the differences between the two procedures and answered any questions and apprehensions I may have had. Christina was my counselor, who reviewed with me all the meds and what to expect. Surgery on Thursday went well, very quick, and the entire team at Aloha Laser did their best to make me feel comfortable. I left with some of Dr. Falkner's homemade cookies. Friday's post op was quick with Dr. Falkner. He did a quick looksee to make sure everything looked normal (Which it did), answered all of my followup questions, and sent me on my way back to Maui. Overall, I could not be more pleased with my experience here. I write this on Sunday, three days post op, and my vision continues to improve with each passing day. I cannot wait to enjoy clear vision after decades of needing to wear glasses and contacts. MAHALO, ALOHA VISION! read more

If you ever need a great eye doctor, this is the place to go! Very professional very knowledgeable and would highly recommend this business to anyone who would want to do Lasik or a simple eye exam. My husband went for a regular eye check and found that he had a tear in his retina that he wasn't aware of it all! Thanks to Dr. Hanohano, she referred him to a specialist and got it repaired. So thankful that it didn't tear completely! I had my Lasik surgery over 20 years ago with Dr. Faulkner and he's such an amazing surgeon who still practices and founded this business. read more

Due to double operations and very long convalescence I expected a very negative experience. Totally opposite. A huge staff of every level of expertise and everyone had the true Aloha Spirit.
