I was…read morereferred to the clinic and I emphatically recommend Jenkins Eye Clinic and Dr. Nikpoor. The vision in my right eye began diminishing nearly two years ago. At first it felt like I was seeing the world through plastic wrap smeared with bacon grease; over time it worsened into what seemed like wrinkled paper. I was scared I might lose sight in that eye. I had to depend solely on my left eye and felt unsafe driving at night because headlights became blinding spotlights. At Jenkins Eye Clinic I learned I had cataracts in both eyes. The staff were pleasant, knowledgeable, accommodating, and compassionate. I was a little devastated at first -- I thought I was too young -- but Dr. Nikpoor put me at ease. She explained what to expect before and after the procedure, answered all my questions about vision outcomes, pain, downtime, and cost, and helped me schedule bilateral cataract surgery for early April. My procedure was scheduled for 8:00 a.m., and I was out by 9:30 a.m. Tears of joy escaped my eyes when I realized I could see through my right eye again. The vision felt different -- somehow better. Colors, especially blue, are deeper and more vivid; whites are more brilliant. I can now safely drive at night without fear. I am grateful to Dr. Nikpoor, the staff at Jenkins Eye Clinic, and the team at The Surgical Suites.

We learn, play sports, watch movies, read, enjoy sunsets and fireworks, etc. through our eyes. What would we do without them? I first visited Jenkins Eye Care in 2000 and had LASIK surgery. The best result was getting rid of contact lenses! That one inconvenience was gone from my daily routine! What a relief! Recently, my optometrist noticed that I had the beginnings of cataracts. So many people advised me to get the surgery as soon as possible, so... Okay... I went for the exam/consultation and now am waiting to schedule the surgery. It's such a popular procedure that the office is backed up for months! I'm looking forward to interacting with the professional, patient, and pleasant staff again! I think I met six different people who helped me navigate the system! They were all kind and thorough! I highly recommend Jenkins Eye Care. They're very experienced and have an excellent reputation!

Once I submitted their online form, I got a call back and Robert left me a detail message including pricing. He said to go in for Aiea location for the consultation. The day I went in, the office looked really cluttered and unorganized. I saw muliple personal items of the staffs just left around in the office... When I was doing the eye exam, I could not see well on one eye, was wondering why....then after a while I figured their machine lense was dirty, and I had to tell the Dr. it was the lense. I have never had that happen to me at an eye doctor before. The price I got over the phone was 4100 dollars for military dependent. My friend who was also a military dependent at the time paid 3800 for both eyes. I negotiated with the Dr. and he said he could do it for 3900. A month later, I got a bill for thier FREE consultation priced over $240. I was stunned because on the website it said free and even the day of the consultation, I made sure with the receptionist as well. (Matter fact I have never seen any eye doctor who does not do free consultation for lasik). I called the office to have the matter corrected numerous times and the lady who is in charge of billing never picks up her phone so I left voice messages every time, yet NEVER calls me back. I went on their website again and they clearly say free consultation. On top of that, now I found the price list for lasik and they quoated me higher price than what it is listed on their websited even after the negotiation. This business is a scam. I would never ever get anything done here if I were you. I totally believe the one star review someone else left about this Dr. office.

I've been coming to Dr. Daniel Choi for a few years now. He was recommended to me by my daughter…read more(who is a physician), and he's very thorough, and knowledgeable. I had Lasik surgery done in 2006 at a different clinic, which at the time, I was thrilled with. However, my vision has been declining over the years, due in part to age, but also, I've been developing cataracts. I had prescription glasses made several years ago, which made things "sharper", but not "clearer", due to the cataracts. This really affected my golf game, since I couldn't clearly see my shots fly or land. Dr. Choi explained at my most recent annual exam that no matter how much the glasses can try to correct my vision, it wouldn't be crystal clear, since the cataracts act like a cloudy film to cause things to look dull and fuzzy. He explained the various options to me, and we decided on cataract surgery to remove and replace the lenses in my eyes. We opted to do one eye at a time, so I started with my right eye for distance viewing. The overall process was very smooth, and I felt very comfortable the entire time. Their entire staff that helped me, Viva, Angelina, Dr. Chun (anesthesiologist), and the rest were very kind and caring. Today is the day after my surgery, and the vision in my right eye is remarkably sharp and clear, like it was 20 years ago. Comparatively, the vision in my left eye is hazy and dull, with a slight yellowish hue. I go in for a follow up next week, but I'm already excited to get my left eye done and be able to golf and see my ball in the fairway and the greens. I would highly recommend the Cataract and Vision Center for all your vision needs.

Upon completion of his exam, he would turn to his computer to enter info all the while without hardly a word. I had to ask him whatever I needed to know while he gave me brief answers as if he wanted to end the visit maybe because he had a lunch engagement or something more urgent. In closing, contrary to the reviews I read about him, I found him somewhat cold, lacking any semblance of compassion, uninformative, and not a personable professional. Be forewarned! First & Last

Fortunately, my piano student's mother is a doctor who referred me to Dr.Portis, so my husband Jeff is also likely to undergo cataract surgery with him. Today was our first visit, he did a lot of tests, and everything went smoothly with the guidance of the staff. Also, the doctor carefully listened to my husband's story and set up a treatment plan. I think it is very important for patients facing surgery to understand their condition, treatment options, risks and benefits. Dr. Portis did a good job of explaining these things. . Well, this doctor, apparently he is a professional photographer and many of his works are displayed in the waiting room. When I look at these wonderful works, I forget that it's a hospital! It was my first visit with a little nervousness, but I was able to spend time at a good pace and comfortably, so I felt like leaving the anxiety of the surgery to him with peace of mind. When my husband became his patient, I also decided to have him check my eyes every year as my ophthalmologist, and I made an appointment. I'm looking forward to receiving treatment while having a fun conversation with the doctor from now on!

I was there for laser cataract eye surgery and a few other things so I would never have to wear contacts again on Veterans Day 11.11.24 for my left eye and on Presidents Day 2.17.25 for the other eye. Drop off tip: faster to be dropped off in the Costco parking lot (make the turn into the in/out driveway at the traffic light intersection on Ala Kawa St. between Home Depot and Costco! Now, once you are dropped off... go take the stairway almost immediately to your left... unfortunately, the escalator has not been working in years--- don't think they want to fix it! If you cannot walk up the stairway, you will have to take the elevator which makes you walk around the large interior of the building counterclockwise until you end up on the exterior walkway on the second floor. Walk out to your left and you will see the signage. This surgery center is divided into two areas...1st, being the billing area where you pay the remaining balance after what insurance covers. Very nice and welcoming staff there... But then they said I now have to go to the next office which is the patient waiting room/entry to their surgery center. Just go back out and turn left and walk to the end and into the second part of the surgery center. Fill out a short piece of paperwork then you are brought to a small room for some additional medical test. After that, you are brought into the pre-surgery section (you will be asked to come about 2-3 hours before the actual eye surgery procedure). Oh, my god... the ENTIRE STAFF were so warm, caring, and made me feel at ease on both times I were there! I really mean it! The pre-surgery and post-surgery nurses I had the first time... i wished they were there the second time this past February, but they were almost a different staff of nurses. I was treated like a king and they were my servants... haha... they were SO VERY NICE ... LIKE THE KIND YOU JUST WANT TO INVITE THEM TO YOUR 'whatever' celebration(s)!!! They were that friendly and compassionate! At the end of my second surgery, I told my post-surgery nurse (who so happened to be my post-surgery nurse back in November) that I will miss all of them... and told him that 'too bad, i don't have a third eye'! We both laughed so hard at that---as he knew what i meant and I will so miss the staff that helped me on those two days in November 2024 and February 2025. Kudos to the entire staff! I felt so welcomed and at ease!!! I still am sad that i don't have a third eye to be worked on...
