Everything is so much beautiful as you see things clearly... Freaky Tiki Tropical Optical is a cute place in Ala Moana street level right besides the Centerstage has a variety of brands wall to wall of shades of all types and I was looking for something specific since having my Lasik procedure to fix a bunch of my eye issues and am blessed to see thing so much more clearer, I just wanted something to help clear up the halos I do see when I'm driving. So here I did find a nice bright yellow lens needed for clearing up night glare while I'm driving and the staff was just a delight so friendly and no pressure to help me find what I needed and the selection here is great much more than other places that I've visited and it looked great too woohoo! Getting this pair I'm told that it has two year's warranty and if I needed any fixing or adjustments to this eye ware all I need to do is swing by and they'll take care of me with questions now what an awesome service is that!? My Ray Bans are awesome and seeing things clearer so that I don't strain my eyes and just enjoy the rainbow. Thank you!

I was in need of some new sunglasses, and being on vacay gave me the perfect excuse to buy a new pair. I also saw that some brands were offering 50% off, so I dropped by Freaky Tiki in Ala Moana mall. Its on the first level as you exit the escalator to the right, next to Big Island Cookies. Besides having an ugly face, my head has two other problems: Its wide & long. I tried on some Oakleys, but ending up liking the Costas the best. They had big lenses, and the length of the arms were long enuf to fit behind my ears. With the discount, the price was $140, which was within my budget. Regarding the ambiance, its a local store, so its a lot more comfy vs a big chain shop. When I come home, I always try to support local businesses. However, where FT really stood out was the service. The salesman, Jesse, and the owner, Ryken, showed a lot of Aloha. They patiently waited as I tried on several pairs, and Ryken said to give me a new pair vs the floor model: Big shaka to dat! Side note: To show you how small the island is, and how you are only one person removed from knowing someone else, let me share a story. I told my cuz (initials NP) that I scored some sunglasses fr FT. He told me he knows Ryken bc the latter dated his stepdaughter Jen. My cuz even showed me their prom pic. The moral to the story is, shop local businesses vs chains when you are in the islands. You might just run into someone you know (once removed!). Hahahahaha

We were shopping for sunglasses but this lady was giving us attitude, giving us dirty looks while she's angrily flapping her folding fan. It would've been one star but gave 2 because the other 2 were helpful and nice. If it wasn't for them, I'd give them one star (zero if we're able to). Word of advice to the lady, if you're not a people person, please don't work in retail. You lost 3 potential sale because of her.

The temple hinge had cracked off the main frame part and I took my glasses to Costco optical, LensCrafters, Jins in California and they all couldn't fix it. Jins USA couldn't even fit my old lenses in any of their frames because Jins USA is completely different stock from Jins Japan. I took my broken frame to Paris Miki Ala Moana because they sell Japan frames but they were not helpful and couldn't help me. I know I'm not the first person this has happened to so I was disappointed I couldn't find anyone to fix my glasses. I just include this part so you can avoid all the trouble and just come here if you have a similar problem. SEOUL OPTICAL is on the 12th floor in the Pacific Guardian Tower, which is next to Walmart across Makaloa. They open at 9am. It's not facing the street or in a shopping center so you have to go looking for it. Kenny is the optician and speaks both Korean and English and was extremely helpful and told me he can't fix the broken temple hinge but he did have some frames that would fit my lenses! He immediately showed me a few frames and I was out of there in 10 minutes with my new glasses. My new frames are made in Korea, they are even lighter than my Japan frames, and the nosepads are not the clear silicone ones that turn green after a while, they are silver and so cool. My frames were $150 which is a great price compared to Costco/Lenscrafters and because they are made in Asia, fit my face better than any American brand frames I own. Even if you're not Asian, I highly recommend this place for your optical needs, he does carry US name brand frames too, but the frames made in Asia are far superior and cheaper than a trip to Japan/Korea.

Shopping online for their sunglasses has always been so easy but you won't know the fit until you get it (unless of course you know what style frame you're getting already). Pretty awesome sales (always) online and in-store. Today was a buy one, get one half off. But one of my favorite things about Quay is that they offer multi-focal lenses for your purchase(s). **here's the fine print though... You must have your optical prescription at the time of purchase so they can ORDER your special multi-focal lens for your frames. You don't walk away with it but you can try the frames on before the purchase. The frames with the prescription on it will then be mailed to you. Also, did you know that you can distinguish which frames can take a prescription simply by locating the "Rx"'on the tag. Not all frames will take a prescription. Overall very pleased with the customer service and eyeglasses purchased here.

Here I am at Quay located in the Ala Moana Center Level 3 almost near the centerstage area. It was just time for another pair of shades I finally made it over and browsed the various pairs they have displayed for easy viewing and love that they have multiple desighs of the same type of style like the same shade in various color frame and lenses giving the right fit and color that you desire. As I found my pair I proceeded to check only to be told that it's buy one get one free...WHAT! Let me tell you these affordable shades are worth every penny from me and I get to have another one for free was mind-blowing though since I did lose another one a spare is exactly what I need and thank you Quay for keeping the sun out of my eyes. Thank you!
