So shady... The selection here is quite bougie for me as I'm on the search for some sunglasses as I can't find mine and the one i had for awhile is no longer useable as the film on the lens has chipped and peeled...sad as it was very expensive. This Ala Moana Center location is on the Street Level behind the Centerstage just outside of Makai Market Food Court, though this cozy shop is quite small it does offer quite impressive selection though sadly for me personally it's out of my range. The staff is a delight as she was already helping a guest though didn't skip a beat to greet me as i entered. Went there yesterday.. Sales girl, you need to learn customer service! You shouldn't work in this business if you can't relate to customers.. It seems like we were bothering you and NO ONE was in the shop! We were willing to buy a couple of pairs of sunglasses but you were to BUSY to help or even acknowledge us.. Why? We weren't tourists? So you didn't want to help us? This review was for Riley (male worker) at the SGH near the food court. I came in to do an exchange and he wouldn't accept my return because of "micro scratches" on my lens. There was nothing there fyi (lol). I literally bought the Rayban Erica glasses 2 days ago from a different location, never wore them, & he basically implied I scratched them myself. I guess it shows the good quality of the glasses if they get "micro-scratches" that easily (sarcasm).. What happened to the "perfect pair promise"? He then redirected me to go back to the Kahala location and stated that the manager would do it there. But, I wasn't going to drive all the way there to exchange glasses. I just wanted a different color since I have multiple tortoise glasses from SGH as is. He was very rude & his way of communicating is what got to me. My husband wanted to get a good pair of Maui Jim's sunglasses. We stopped at a couple shops but didn't find what we were looking for. Stopped by Sunglass Hut at Ala Moana center and right off the bat Tiffany was so welcoming and had really good energy!! She let us look around and feel comfortable and was not pushy and didn't hover around us. 0 STARS ( LOCATION BY TARGET) Went into this store with my bf and my cousin with her 7month old baby to take a look at the Versace glasses, baby started to cry so we went outside because it started to get crowded as we walk outside the store pushing the stroller the local guy with the short hair comes outside and tells us "I know you guys took a pair" and of course we're confused because we're trying to calm down the baby, my bf goes back and ask what did you say? And he goes "I know you took a pair , one is missing" but later comes to find out a customer was just holding one of the pairs and he goes "oh nvm" and of course my boyfriend is pretty upset as he's telling him "I'm just following what my coworkers said" with attitude! I took a chance and signed up for the credit card, and bought some sunglasses on the card. I was happy to see that when I broke my sunglasses and brought them in, they happily gave me a brand-new pair at 75% off! They have a policy that if you buy your sunglasses with their branded credit card, they will do that one time for each pair. Of course, the card is a total rip-off with a very high APR, but if you pay it off every month, no worries. Anyway...while THAT was all positive, and the female employee was helpful, I have to say...wow she was dumb. Look, I know it's Hawaii and we have low unemployment and all the businesses are looking for workers...but man, this girl was so dumb, she didn't know how to charge me 75% off for the new shades! She didn't even know how to use the cash register to do it. First, she gave me the totally wrong amount. The sunglasses cost $200. When she first played around on the register, she happily announced "OK, that will be $127!" I told her THAT didn't seem like 75% off, and asked if the sunglasses cost $500." She gave me a blank look. I tried to help her, asking her was was 50% of $200. She couldn't answer. I tried to simplify it further by asking what was 75% of $100. Nothing. By now, there was a lady behind me who piped in that "75% of $100 is $25, sweetie. So double that, and you get $50. This was apparently too much for the Hawaii educated girl, who got all confused and had to pull out her calculator, which she also didn't know how to use. Flustered now, I expected her to start crying. Anyway, in the long run, let's say that all us customers finally convinced her that $50 was 75% off of $200, and that's what I paid. read more

BUYERS BEWARE: As one of the reviewers have indicated, we had a very similar interaction with the 3rd floor SGH near the Foodlands side (not the one close to Target). The worker there very rudely refused to let us return a pair of Prada glasses due to "micro scratches" and accused us of dropping the glasses. She had an intensely passive aggressive tone when saying "well it looks like you definitely dropped it". The truth is....we bought them 2 days prior after my girlfriend lost her pair while on a hike, and we actually kept the new pair we bought in the glasses case (never took it out or wore them) after purchasing it. We ended up finding the lost sunglasses and went to return the new pair that we bought before being accused of scratching it. Thus, we walked right to the other SGH near Target on the 3rd floor of Ala Moana, and the staff there also inspected the sunglasses and refunded us without any problems. This indicates two things: 1) SGH workers at this location are unethically dishonest, scamming customers of sunglasses that they deem are already scratched and would not accept them back for returns. 2) SGH workers at this location are accusatory and falsifying a narrative that their customer are at fault when they find micro-scratches. To be honest, we did not even see any of the scratches that they keep accusing us of, which goes to show that no matter how mint the condition of these glasses are, they will fabricate something and refuse returns because they can. Do not trust this location and their staff. read more

I loved the customer service here! Since we were in Hawaii, my BF decided to get a good pair of sunglasses. We went everywhere in Ala Moana to find a good one but since his head is so damn big, nothing was fitting right. We finally walked into Sunglass Hut and continued our hunt. The people who worked here was really nice and was trying to help my BF find some sunglasses. While he was searching, I noticed that they had little kits for your sunglasses and I was asking them about it. I was wearing my Gucci sunglasses on my head and told them that they were getting a little loose. Without me even asking, he came right up to me and decided to fix it for me! He even cleaned them up and polished it! The reason why I gave them -1 star was because they didn't have that much selection. Excellent customer service! I purchased a pair of Tory Burch sunglasses last month at a location in North Carolina. As I wore them, I noticed they would slip off my face. I thought it was maybe a defect or just the wrong fit and I was disappointed because I love the glasses. I came in and the associate informed me that he could make some adjustments to the glasses in hopes of making a better fit. He worked his magic and boom the glasses fit perfectly. The only Sunglass Hut worth visiting! Best customer service ever! My first experience buying an expensive pair of glasses went south fast, but Jennan and the crew at Sunglass Hut Ala Moana 3rd floor saved the day! My story: I usually buy the $5-$20 plastic polarized glasses from sports authority and wear them until I lose them or they break. As a anniversary gift, my wife bought me a pair of Ray Ban glasses that fit perfectly and made me look/feel like the Fonz! It definitely felt more substantial, had a clearer lens and the tint was perfect. In all I thought it was the BEST PAIR of sunglasses I've ever had. After 4 months I noticed that what looked like a layer of film peeling from one lens of the glasses. I thought, WTF? I spend $10 on a cheap pair and it lasts years, almost $200 on a pair that lasts 4 months? So I headed back to the Waikele, where we bought it and the guy there says there is nothing they can do, plus giving me ATTITUDE and insinuating I did something purposefully to make it like that. I go to Pearlridge store and the manager there is NICE ENOUGH to say that we can replace it but they only had the non polarized version of the glasses in stock, but suggested I check the Ward store that seems to have the polarized version in stock, but in a different color. I go to the Ward store the next day and at first the guy there PRETENDS that they don't have it in stock. Tapping away at his computer saying they don't have anything, I then look at the shelf 10ft away and it's RIGHT THERE! Then he says that he doesn't want to exchange it for me, I told him what the Pearlridge manager says, so he gives me this look like I was LYING and calls the Pearlridge store. Unfortunately the store manager on duty during the day (I went to pearlridge at night) DOUBTS that his other manager told me that I could exchange it, and of course they can't get in touch with the other manager I spoke with. So I'm up the creek, I leave the store vowing NEVER to buy any glasses more than $20 and never coming back to sunglass hut again. I go to Ala moana for lunch and on a whim I go to the sunglass hut on the bottom floor, but it's packed.. I decide to go upstairs to the 3rd floor location where Jennan, the AWESOME, most AMAZING MANAGER is waiting to see how she can help me. I explain my LONG STORY, she apologizes on behalf of sunglass hut, OFFERS to exchange the glasses, and QUICKLY finds out that the store on Maui has the exact pair of glasses in stock, and its the ONLY ONE in all of Hawaii. She calls them, and speaks to the person there to have them hold it, pack it up, and transfer it to the ala moana store. Jennan then gives me her contact info and PROMISES to call me when the glasses arrive. I leave the store completely BLOWN AWAY by the level of customer support and start wondering why Jennan isn't holding training classes for all the other managers at sunglass hut hawaii locations on PROPER and PROFESSIONAL customer service! Less than a week later, I get a call from Jennan HERSELF, not some other employee I never heard of or worked with, saying that the glasses has arrived. However, it was in the middle of black friday and she suggested I wait till the following monday to pick it up to avoid the crowds, and promises that she will KEEP IT on the side for me. WOW! The manager herself calls me PERSONALLY, on probably the busiest retail day of the year to let me know that an exchange product (not something she will be making money from) is ready and waiting for me. I rush to the store on almost not believing it, thinking this is too good to be true. Thinking maybe someone just sold the glasses over the weekend or something. When I arrive, I am greeted with a SMILE, as always, and although Jennan wasn't there, her employee on duty KNEW EXACTLY who I was and what I needed. Minutes later I walk out the door with a brand new pair of sunglasses, completely satisfied, and THANKING GOD for sending the team of angels at Sunglass Hut Ala Moana 3rd floor to the rescue. I will never buy another pair of glasses more than $20, unless it is from sunglass hut ala moana 3rd floor. Hopefully Jennan is still there, but probably not, because I would think the company would recognize GREAT EMPLOYEES and promote them. Wouldn't recommend. We went into the Sunglass Hut near Forever 21. There weren't a lot of options per designer. But that's okay because we wanted to purchase a specific pair of sunglasses. We waited 15 minutes for the employee to stop talking to a new hire, which was no problem. However we asked if he had any of the specific glasses we wanted and he told us he only had one. We expressed we weren't comfortable buying a display model because they don't seem trustworthy. He assured us of warranties. We told him that it was too much of a hassle. He continued to try to peddle the glasses off to us. We constantly turned him down. He then decided to run a search of other store inventory. He stated they all had only display models to sell at the moment and wouldn't be getting more until those sold. We went downstairs to Freaky Tiki who had several pairs and a way larger variety. Don't go to Sunglass hut just go to freaky tiki. They have better sales people who are multilingual and friendly. They also will alter sunglasses for you very quickly. Sunglass Hut in the mall isn't worth the hassle. read more
