After having had received an eye exam at Modern Eyes which is connected to Len's Crafter's, I ordered prescription glasses but after 2 and a half weeks, I still haven't received them. Beware of getting prescription glasses if you are expecting to receive them when promised. I ordered glasses 18 days ago and I still haven't received them yet although I was told that they would arrive within 10-14 days. I received a text message that they were ready for pick up and made the trek to Ala Moana to pick them up but they weren't there. The supervisor was the one assisting me and she and another associate said it was strange that they couldn't find them. I was offered excuses and a $50 dollar discount. I don't need excuses or a discount, I need my glasses especially since I am going to be off island for months and will be leaving soon. So if you are visiting and/or are a part-time resident, don't purchase any glasses if you want them anytime soon(the laboratory is on the mainland). read more

The store is very nice and setup well. People are generally nice except I think it was last year when a younger guy helped me and I remember he mentioned adding in insurance. I ordered a pair of sunglasses from Ala Moana a few years ago. I was not properly fit and the glasses did not correct my vision. Fortunately there was I capable and very nice person in the Kahala store who helped me with my problem and the lenses were replaced. I "forgave" them for that inconvenience and went back to Ala Moana for new lenses for my glasses. It has now been THREE WEEKS since I dropped off my frames for the new lenses and the only reason I know anything about where they are is because I called - no one from the store let me know there was any delay. And at that I had to call them THREE times. They either told me the glasses would be there "soon" (they weren't) and when I called again later to follow up, I was disconnected. I called again then I was told someone would call me back soon (no one called - I waited 30 minutes). I called one more time, was put on hold for several minutes and when someone finally got on the line, I had to repeat my problem and was told AGAIN, that they would be here "soon." It's now been three weeks and I have not yet heard when my glasses will be ready for pick up. I should have learned my lesson after the first disappointment, but now I'm done. No more Lenscrafters (at least not Ala Moana). read more

Stopped in here a couple of weeks ago because my eyeglasses frames broke and I was desperate to get a new pair. Unfortunately it was not possible to make a matching prescription with my existing lenses within a couple of hours. I was in vacation with my wife on our anniversary and only in town for a couple of nights. The super friendly and smart staff offered a brilliant solution to super glue the frame together temporarily until I could get home and replace the glasses. It worked!! I just went here last weekend and it's was easy fast and friendly service. I outfitted a old pair of glasses I had with new transitional lenses and some other bells and whistles. It's custom so they gave to get lenses from the mainland. Can take a week or so. I also got some OSHA certified glasses. More function than form. Got the impact resistant lenses and has the removable side eye shield for work. So much better than using over glasses safety goggles or just being blind using non prescription safety glasses. Two birds with one stone. Insurance covered all that and they were ready in about a hour. Fast! read more

I received really great service when I bought my glasses here and every time afterwards. I will come in regularly to get my glasses refitted or my nose pads replaced. The store associates always take care of my glasses and will even clean them in their professional cleaning solution if I ask. I've been blessed with excellent vision for most of my life. Normally, when I go to my annual eye exam, they say, "perfect" and I can walk out feeling lucky that I don't need glasses. Last year, I received a gentle, "well, not perfect but not bad" and I was given the option to purchase the lowest prescription lens possible. I was in full denial and didn't purchase the prescription lens yet LOL Well this time, my eye exam revealed that I indeed, am getting old :( At my appointment, it was explained to me that my "far" vision was pretty good but my "near" vision needed a slight prescription lens. Dang it. Queue violin please. As I sat there in disbelief, she kindly explained the bifocal. Oy, you know how the message is not fully received when a person is talking and your mind is elsewhere (like momentary depression)...I sort of was paying attention when she said, "you'll have to point your nose up and hold your reading material down, to use the lower bifocal." Wait, what? So what we have here is pretty much an expensive head band to hold back my hair. Occasionally my new glasses are not in my purse, it's on my head (not face). On rare moments, when no one is looking, I might use it to read something tiny. I'm only giving three stars because I'm having a hard time adjusting/using the actual product. read more

I totally forgot that LensCrafters glasses take 1 hour if they have them in stock. We came here because Costco optical allow only 1 person at a time to browse through their small section of frames during this Covid time. With that said, who wants to wait and who knows how long that will be? I recommend this Ala Moana location because they seem to have more frames to choose from. Lenscrafters doesn't participate with my vision plan but they gave us some discounts instantly so everything worked out and it wasn't that much more than Costco. So I recommend be a savvy shopper. Also, the technician who help us was very patient and thorough. She explained everything and ask us what we wanted in the lens. There are so many options these days. My glasses were terribly bent out of shape after an accident at home, and a friend suggested that I try the Lenscrafters at Ala Moana. I was greeted shortly after I walked in, and Susan was very welcoming and was able to come up with a plan to shape my frames back into shape. She even adjusted the nose pads too! I've never been to LensCrafters before. I don't wear glasses. My mom needed new glasses, so my husband and I accompanied her. This was her first time here as well. She used to go somewhere else for her eyeglass needs, but they were no longer taking her insurance. My husband looked it up and luckily for her LensCrafters did. We walked in and the wait time for her to get her eyes checked was half an hour, not bad. My mom really liked the optometrist who helped her, Dr. Trinh Pham. She was helpful, funny, and precise. My mom felt at ease with Dr. Pham. After getting her eyes checked, we went and picked out a new set of glasses for her. The ladies who helped my mom were friendly and knowledgable. They couldn't make my mom's glasses in the store. They had to send it out and it would be ready in two weeks, which wasn't a problem. Acquired my glasses here. Visited today just to have a lens retightened. The staff are always courteous and happy to help. They don't just tighten the screws, they ask how often I wear my glasses, etc. How long I've had this pair. They replaced the screw to ensure it stays tight. There's never a charge for such services. I'll definitely keep using them for all my optical needs. I would ask that they update their store hours on Yelp. Says they're open till 8PM but hours posted at the Ala Moana store has them closing at 6PM. read more

After moving to Honolulu and being responsible for my own eyewear, it was difficult finding a place that not only took my insurance, but also offered styles of frames that I liked with high index lenses. I finally gave LensCrafters a try and have been happy coming here. I've now bought two complete pairs here over the last three years and my most recent experiences have been the best. They have a large staff and not all are wonderful, but a few standouts have been a huge help making what is normally a stressful thing easy. Giuseppe helped me select a few frames and never rushed me; my time was important. He adjusted my old glasses and made them fit better than they ever did. Going over all the options, I selected a frame, got all the measurements done, ran multiple insurances correctly, and eventually left happy. I was told it could be two or more weeks due to the special order, but received a text three days later they were ready for pickup. I picked up a different day and had a basic fitting, but immediately knew they weren't right. Thankfully on a return trip Giuseppe remembered me and and got them fitting better. Correy was also fun to talk to about glasses and horribly bad prescriptions. The whole experience was pleasant. Like everything in healthcare in America today, their prices are super high without insurance, so be prepared for this. Don't be afraid to ask questions and get all the details about what is/isn't covered and cheaper options. An eye doctor is on premises for exams, but I don't have any personal experience here. For glasses, no appointment is needed, just bring your prescription and walk in. They're conveniently located on the 4th floor of Ala Moana Center near Macy's and easily accessible from the 3rd floor roof parking lot up the escalators to the Ho'okipa Terrace. read more

We were roaming about Ala Moana Shopping Center when my husband whipped out a $249 discount flyer from LensCrafters on complete pairs of eyeglasses with prescription lenses that he received through the mail. He wears eyeglasses because he has had complications using contact lenses and his prescription had just been changed for the better. I thought that was pretty remarkable considering that he's worn the same prescription for the past 3 years and now, his vision has improved! So, okay...we wandered into the shop at 10-ish in the morning. We were cheerfully greeted by Heather (store manager) who, at the time, was on the phone but still took the time to acknowledge us. We told her that we were just browsing and showed her the coupon. She then assigned Jennifer to assist us with our needs. Jennifer was friendly and answered the questions that my husband had about the use of the coupon and eligible products. At which point, she looked us up in her customer database and informed us of another special that was more "attractive" because of our loyalty. If you wear eyewear, you truly know that you wear them not only for better or corrective vision but they can be great accessories, also. During the time that we were in the store, several others came in while the other technicians went to help them, while Jennifer stayed with us. We selected 2 new frames (Persol and Ray-Ban) for my husband. Jennifer "fit" him with lenses with options such as line-less progressives, impact resistance, scratch-resistance, HD, and photochromic. Jennifer admitted that she had only been working at Ala Moana store for 2 weeks so she asked for our patience as she required computer access from Heather several times. We completed our transactions within an hour and a half, all the while, Jennifer had focused her customer service on us. We were informed that it would take at least 14 days for the completion of the eyewear. Both frames are being sent to their respective manufacturer for the required lenses to be made and fit.
