Someone sat on my glasses I bought in Japan from Jins and I was crushed. It was my only pair of progressive lenses and my absolutely favorite. The temple hinge had cracked off the main frame part and I took my glasses to Costco optical, LensCrafters, Jins in California and they all couldn't fix it. Jins USA couldn't even fit my old lenses in any of their frames because Jins USA is completely different stock from Jins Japan. I took my broken frame to Paris Miki Ala Moana because they sell Japan frames but they were not helpful and couldn't help me. I know I'm not the first person this has happened to so I was disappointed I couldn't find anyone to fix my glasses. I just include this part so you can avoid all the trouble and just come here if you have a similar problem. SEOUL OPTICAL is on the 12th floor in the Pacific Guardian Tower, which is next to Walmart across Makaloa. They open at 9am. It's not facing the street or in a shopping center so you have to go looking for it. Kenny is the optician and speaks both Korean and English and was extremely helpful and told me he can't fix the broken temple hinge but he did have some frames that would fit my lenses! He immediately showed me a few frames and I was out of there in 10 minutes with my new glasses. My new frames are made in Korea, they are even lighter than my Japan frames, and the nosepads are not the clear silicone ones that turn green after a while, they are silver and so cool. My frames were $150 which is a great price compared to Costco/Lenscrafters and because they are made in Asia, fit my face better than any American brand frames I own. Even if you're not Asian, I highly recommend this place for your optical needs, he does carry US name brand frames too, but the frames made in Asia are far superior and cheaper than a trip to Japan/Korea. read more

Okay so... obviously I have a type! My glasses are all circle but there's a bunch of choices available. Seoul Optical is so wonderful Kenny and his wife are the sweetest. I came in 20 minutes before closing, he helped me pick out the glasses for me, and then had lenses cut and ready within 15 minutes. I have astigmatism now but it takes the same amount of time if anyone was worried. Last time it took 1-2 days to get my pair which is much better than the 2-3 week lead times a lot of places offer. This time & the first time it took ~15-30 minutes. I always get blue-light anti-glare and my glasses have ranged between $200-300, not including insurance. They are wonderful as I'm picky and hate having things on my face all the time. I'm not willing to spend more than $90 on glasses ANYWHERE else as I get exactly what I want within a convenient amount of time with Seoul Optical. Now, if you're not willing to spend that much, have no fear as they have a smaller but nice collection at a more affordable price as well. It's like the ULTA of eyeglasses! TLDR; lot of variety in type, brand, and cost. Lenses are cut in-house very quickly. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Service by the optician was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the frames he had and recommended for your shaped fence and your preferences for color weight and flex. The frames he carries are not inexpensive but if you want cheap frames go to Costco or Walmart. He carries only quality frames. He was also very knowledgeable about lenses and will listen to what type of lenses you want. Seoul Optical does not accept many Vision Plans but will gladly fill out the claim form required for your vision plan. Parking is in the Pacific Guardian Bldg and is validated. I found out today that my hmsa Vision benefit is use-it-or-lose-it so I decided to treat myself to a new pair of high-end eyeglasses. Upon arrival, there is a automatic temperature check machine at the door. It is fast and easy to use. I told Kenny that I was referred by Dr. Marshall Kim at the glaucoma Center and he immediately knew who I was talking about. I showed him my hmsa card and he was very familiar with the vision benefit. He showed me a high-end pair of titanium frames and amazing blue light reduction, glare reduction lenses. I mentioned my current glasses make marks on my nose and give me headaches and he showed me a few super light weight frames in the shape and colors I asked for. I wanted a change for my glasses this year, I didn't want to go thru my optometrist or Lens Crafters. I remember reading reviews for Seoul Optical and had this business bookmarked. I agree with the reviews, this place is wonderful and I can see the reason why it is 5 stars but I had to call and ask Kenny one question, how come you are not a in network provider with VSP?!! This is the only junk part, not a in network provider. So the coverage with VSP was only 92.00 for my frame and lens. My inital visit was very quick, in and out less than 20 minutes. Kenny gave me 3 frames to choose from and I ended up with the Ray Ban frames. I was surprised to see the cost of the frames @ 140.00 for Ray Ban. I had to double check to see if they are real Ray Bans, (haha) My lens were transition, anti glare,with my strong RX I had to get thin lens and total for my lens were $250.00. From doing my research, the prices are affordable, lower than other places even when I went to get 2nd opinion, with an in network provider the glasses and frames actually cost more. My glasses could have been done in one hour but since I had transition, the glasses would be ready within 2 days. Service was great and quick!Shop is very nice and organized, Seoul Optical is located at Pacific Guardian Tower on the 12th floor, parking lot via Makaloa street side and parking is validated. Kenny even worked on the claims via VSP, for me. Kenny was so nice! As soon as he was done helping the customer before me, he warmly welcomed me in and straight away asked if I had health insurance. I appreciate when businesses take care of that stuff right away in order to help us save as much as we can. I've never needed glasses before so I wasn't sure how the process would go. It was so quick and easy at Seoul Optical; I chose frames off the wall, gave Kenny my prescription, and my new glasses were ready for pick-up an hour later. They do accept insurance (prescription required,) and have a large and stylish collection of frames covered by HMSA (co pay $25 I believe) Lens add ons like blue light filter or transitional lenses are extra (pretty standard). My glasses were around $90 all in (which I find very reasonable). It was really nice to see frames that compliment an Asian face. Often times I find that other places have less stylish frames and not many that work well for those of us with high cheek bones and a small nose bridge. I have purchased my last two glasses at the Straub Optical Shop. The experiences left me with eyeglasses I disliked. Each time, I requested high-index (thinner lenses) and anti-glare lenses so that the glasses would be comfortable and look attractive (and paid a pretty price). Each time the optician assured me that I got what I requested and paid for. Needless to say, I ended up with eyeglasses that I dreaded wearing. I was not going to strike out a third time. I didn't know where to go for my next pair but Yelp was a big help! Seoul Optical had the best reviews and they were on my radar. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday and there were many frames to choose from. I got confused as I didn't know what style I wanted. I finally found a frame and tried it on and it was perfect. The lady that helped me (I assume it was Kenny's wife) pulled out a smaller size frame and it fit even better. I was anxious because I found the perfect frame but the lenses would be the key. I communicated to them that I wanted thinner lenses and showed them the pair that I hated and said "not like these". Kenny assured me that he would make it nice. I have a pair of wire frame glasses from Warby Parker that I wear practically everyday. The glasses were accidentally sat on so they were completely warped and I had a feeling they were unfixable. I looked up eyeglass repair shops in Honolulu and Seoul Optical was the first one to come up. I rushed down there and walked in at 4:40 PM (they close at 5:00 PM) assuming I would drop them off and pick them up another day (if there was even a possibility of fixing them). The nice man working at Seoul Optical said there is no guarantee he can fix them, but I said go ahead and try whatever because they're unusable anyway. About 3 minutes later he gave them back to me in PERFECT condition, like they had never been sat on and warped! He politely asked if he could charge me $20 and I told him he could charge me whatever, I was just shocked he fixed them (and so fast too!). He was so nice to squeeze me in at the end of the day. He also really knows what he's doing. I will go back there to buy my next pair of glasses since he was so friendly and the service was amazing.
