Someone sat on my glasses I bought in Japan from Jins and I was crushed. It was my only pair of progressive lenses and my absolutely favorite. The temple hinge had cracked off the main frame part and I took my glasses to Costco optical, LensCrafters, Jins in California and they all couldn't fix it. Jins USA couldn't even fit my old lenses in any of their frames because Jins USA is completely different stock from Jins Japan. I took my broken frame to Paris Miki Ala Moana because they sell Japan frames but they were not helpful and couldn't help me. I know I'm not the first person this has happened to so I was disappointed I couldn't find anyone to fix my glasses. I just include this part so you can avoid all the trouble and just come here if you have a similar problem. SEOUL OPTICAL is on the 12th floor in the Pacific Guardian Tower, which is next to Walmart across Makaloa. They open at 9am. It's not facing the street or in a shopping center so you have to go looking for it. Kenny is the optician and speaks both Korean and English and was extremely helpful and told me he can't fix the broken temple hinge but he did have some frames that would fit my lenses! He immediately showed me a few frames and I was out of there in 10 minutes with my new glasses. My new frames are made in Korea, they are even lighter than my Japan frames, and the nosepads are not the clear silicone ones that turn green after a while, they are silver and so cool. My frames were $150 which is a great price compared to Costco/Lenscrafters and because they are made in Asia, fit my face better than any American brand frames I own. Even if you're not Asian, I highly recommend this place for your optical needs, he does carry US name brand frames too, but the frames made in Asia are far superior and cheaper than a trip to Japan/Korea. read more

Excellent service! Great selection of frames my son was able to find a great pair at a wonderful price. They were able to get his glasses with special lenses in about a couple of days and took time to fit them on this face. Seoul Optical was patient and understanding of our needs. Will be coming back for sure. Thank you!! read more

I came to Hawaii on vacation, and on my first day I lost my glasses in the ocean. After doing a little research online, I found Seoul Optical. I walked in without an appointment, explained what happened, and they were incredibly helpful. Since I had my prescription with me, they were able to make me a new pair of glasses in about 30 minutes. I walked out with a great new pair and couldn't be happier with the service. I would highly recommend Seoul Optical! read more

Got my annual eye exam at Sam's club, and then went to Seoul Optical to get frames since they accepted both my boyfriend's Quest insurance and my HMSA. Once I chose my frames, they prepared my glasses in 15 minutes!!! Wonderful friendly customer service. I highly recommend them! read more

Kenny is incredible and deserving of the rating by me and others. He is very nice, polite and an amazingly talented optician. His ability to adjust my 4 glasses was almost magician like and his skill level is superb and imho unmatched. Thank you Kenny!!!! read more

Okay so... obviously I have a type! My glasses are all circle but there's a bunch of choices available. Seoul Optical is so wonderful Kenny and his wife are the sweetest. I came in 20 minutes before closing, he helped me pick out the glasses for me, and then had lenses cut and ready within 15 minutes. I have astigmatism now but it takes the same amount of time if anyone was worried. Last time it took 1-2 days to get my pair which is much better than the 2-3 week lead times a lot of places offer. This time & the first time it took ~15-30 minutes. I always get blue-light anti-glare and my glasses have ranged between $200-300, not including insurance. They are wonderful as I'm picky and hate having things on my face all the time. I'm not willing to spend more than $90 on glasses ANYWHERE else as I get exactly what I want within a convenient amount of time with Seoul Optical. Now, if you're not willing to spend that much, have no fear as they have a smaller but nice collection at a more affordable price as well. It's like the ULTA of eyeglasses! TLDR; lot of variety in type, brand, and cost. Lenses are cut in-house very quickly. HIGHLY recommended. read more

My boyfriend had mentioned his eyeglasses were broken "beyond repair" with the nose pads broken off & bent the completely opposite way. I figured I'd try to get them fixed & Seoul Optical came up first with great reviews & I understand why. They were fixed in under 20 minutes & looked brand new, & for $20! They also have a stunning collection of frames. I recommend this place for all your optical needs! read more

Service by the optician was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the frames he had and recommended for your shaped fence and your preferences for color weight and flex. The frames he carries are not inexpensive but if you want cheap frames go to Costco or Walmart. He carries only quality frames. He was also very knowledgeable about lenses and will listen to what type of lenses you want. Seoul Optical does not accept many Vision Plans but will gladly fill out the claim form required for your vision plan. Parking is in the Pacific Guardian Bldg and is validated. You just need to give him your license plate number. read more

Kenny was very friendly. I ended up using my old frames. It took only less than an hour for my eyeglasses to be done and that was the fastest turnaround. I would definitely recommend this place if you need your eyeglasses right away. read more

One of the better places to get your eye glasses. They are also one of the few that make glasses there and have the best progressive lenses there as well for those older customers. Also helps that if you bent your glasses, you can always go in to get it adjusted. read more

Went here for the first time not too long ago and I would definitely recommend! My glasses broke and I desperately needed a new pair. The reviews here were great so I chose to see Dr. Kenny. Safe to say that it definitely lived up to the high expectations. I was basically in an out in less than an hour and he suggests frames he thinks would suite you best (a plus if you're indecisive)! Lovely atmosphere, everyone was so kind and would definitely come back for new glasses :) read more

My first time buying a pair of glasses in Honolulu in the 80ʻs and I still buy from Seoul. They are sooo nice and He used my frames and put new glasses in when no other place would tackle the job. I am always pleased with the results. He always knows how to fix them so they fit and sit on my nose correctly. I canʻt say enough good about them. Their prices are very fair and worth every penny. Exceptional service. I will continue to take my business to him. You wonʻt be disappointed. read more

My daughter lost her glasses while out sailing (we're on vacation), we called several places including LensCrafters- and no one could help - then we found Seoul Optical. Kenny got us in right away, and got my daughter a new set of glasses in 30 mins! I provided the info from our home optometrist. He was kind, helpful and not pushy on getting a certain frame or a new exam. HIGHLY recommend if you're in a pinch (or are local and looking for a new optometrist!) read more

Just home after receiving world class service from Kenny at Seoul Optical. I found out today that my hmsa Vision benefit is use-it-or-lose-it so I decided to treat myself to a new pair of high-end eyeglasses. Upon arrival, there is a automatic temperature check machine at the door. It is fast and easy to use. I told Kenny that I was referred by Dr. Marshall Kim at the glaucoma Center and he immediately knew who I was talking about. I showed him my hmsa card and he was very familiar with the vision benefit. He showed me a high-end pair of titanium frames and amazing blue light reduction, glare reduction lenses. The most amazing part was that they grind the lenses in shop and my eyeglasses were ready in less than half an hour. He told me to come back if I ever needed any adjustments. Really outstanding world-class service! Strongly recommended Mission Point read more

Seoul Optical - New glasses perfect fit - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Read past reviews and decided to check them out as i needed to get prescription glasses. The owner, I presume he was, was very friendly and accommodating and the service was quick and efficient. In retrospect I didn't ask, and he certainly didn't share or ask about price range or budget and only offered me a selection from the case, the more expensive options. I am happy with the Ray Bans I purchased and will also look for cheaper ones to leave in the car as needed. Glad I went there and would go back. read more

I found this hidden gem from google and I was very impressed by the owner Ken's service. Ken is kind and patient. I completely support small businesses like this. And they have the best service I have ever experienced. The price is also cheaper than any other optical stores at ala Moana area including Walmart and LensCrafters. They can also do some difficult orders Walmart cannot do, like my eyeglasses don't have screws. After this, I'll keep going back to Seoul optical! read more

I have been coming to seoul optical for a few years and Kenny has always taken care of me. He is very patient and he is willing to work with you to help fulfill your needs. They also validate but their parking stalls are a bit tight. read more

Kenny is very nice and professional. The store has many frame options. He asked for my prescription and insurance, asked me what style I liked. I mentioned my current glasses make marks on my nose and give me headaches and he showed me a few super light weight frames in the shape and colors I asked for. I selected frames, he showed me lens options and I chose blue light blocking lenses. He made me the glasses in 20 minutes while I waited in the store. He gave me a nice case and cleaning cloth and told me to avoid those cleaning sprays because it will mess with the special protective lens film and cause more scratches. Good to know! Highly recommend and will by my next pair there. read more

If you're not sure where to go and also don't want to spend so much money on prescription glasses, this is the place to go!! He also has designer brand frames as well. Best part is he also takes insurance and you know he takes care of you very well. He is a very nice person and will definitely be coming back for more! Support local business! read more

I wanted to wait a few days after I got my glasses so i can write an honest review. I can't say anything negative about this place! Kenny was so nice & very helpful in finding the right glasses for me. I was searching for light weight glasses, because my nose area is very sensitive and all my glasses would leave bad marks from being too heavy :/ Kenny was able to provide me with several light weight frame options & said that the type of lenses he will order from Korea are super thin & light! And they indeed are!! Im so impressed! I never thought I would be able to have such a thin lens with my terrible eyesight lol. I can wear these glasses all day & I so far haven't gotten any headache/nose pain at all :) Yippie read more

Where did you get your glasses and where are you? asked the the other half, @ Seoul Optical I replied, So Optical no Seoul Optical.. haha. hope that the other half gets it now that I shared with him this location if he needs glasses done. I wanted a change for my glasses this year, I didn't want to go thru my optometrist or Lens Crafters. I remember reading reviews for Seoul Optical and had this business bookmarked. I agree with the reviews, this place is wonderful and I can see the reason why it is 5 stars but I had to call and ask Kenny one question, how come you are not a in network provider with VSP?!! This is the only junk part, not a in network provider. So the coverage with VSP was only 92.00 for my frame and lens. My inital visit was very quick, in and out less than 20 minutes. Kenny gave me 3 frames to choose from and I ended up with the Ray Ban frames. I was surprised to see the cost of the frames @ 140.00 for Ray Ban. I had to double check to see if they are real Ray Bans, (haha) My lens were transition, anti glare, with my strong RX I had to get thin lens and total for my lens were $250.00. From doing my research, the prices are affordable, lower than other places even when I went to get 2nd opinion, with an in network provider the glasses and frames actually cost more. My glasses could have been done in one hour but since I had transition, the glasses would be ready within 2 days. Service was great and quick!Shop is very nice and organized, Seoul Optical is located at Pacific Guardian Tower on the 12th floor, parking lot via Makaloa street side and parking is validated. Kenny even worked on the claims via VSP, for me. Overall, I'm happy with my glasses and I hope that Seoul Optical will make it on the list as in network provider the next time I need to get glasses done, Thank you Kenny! Check out Seoul Optical, you will not be disappointed, recommend!! read more

Kenny was so nice! As soon as he was done helping the customer before me, he warmly welcomed me in and straight away asked if I had health insurance. I appreciate when businesses take care of that stuff right away in order to help us save as much as we can. I've never needed glasses before so I wasn't sure how the process would go. It was so quick and easy at Seoul Optical; I chose frames off the wall, gave Kenny my prescription, and my new glasses were ready for pick-up an hour later. He even suggested the blue-light lens and I was happy to get those! Total was $60 with my quest insurance and I was expecting to have to pay at least double that. Needed a pair of glasses asap as I broke mine a couple of days ago and am dealing with a stye. I called ahead today ~11:20a knowing they were set to close at noon. The man on the phone said he could help me as long as I got there by noon. I believe I reached Seoul Optical a bit after 11:30a. The man from the phone greeted me and was extremely nice! He helped me pick out a pair after I gave him my prescription and asked me to have a seat. He cut my lenses, installed them in the new frames, adjusted the glasses on my face and I had a new pair by noon! Best customer service and fairly priced! Mahalo Seoul Optical. Visited for the first time last weekend, to pick out glasses. The owner is very nice, and not at all pushy. They do accept insurance (prescription required,) and have a large and stylish collection of frames covered by HMSA (co pay $25 I believe) Lens add ons like blue light filter or transitional lenses are extra (pretty standard). My glasses were around $90 all in (which I find very reasonable). It was really nice to see frames that compliment an Asian face. Often times I find that other places have less stylish frames and not many that work well for those of us with high cheek bones and a small nose bridge. If you've had issues finding frames for these reasons you will be very happy here :) Overall, great place, selection and service. Highly recommend checking them out of you want stylish frames that won't break the bank! Yes, they do validate read more

I have purchased my last two glasses at the Straub Optical Shop. The experiences left me with eyeglasses I disliked. Each time, I requested high-index (thinner lenses) and anti-glare lenses so that the glasses would be comfortable and look attractive (and paid a pretty price). Each time the optician assured me that I got what I requested and paid for. Needless to say, I ended up with eyeglasses that I dreaded wearing. I was not going to strike out a third time. I didn't know where to go for my next pair but Yelp was a big help! Seoul Optical had the best reviews and they were on my radar. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday and there were many frames to choose from. I got confused as I didn't know what style I wanted. I finally found a frame and tried it on and it was perfect. The lady that helped me (I assume it was Kenny's wife) pulled out a smaller size frame and it fit even better. I was anxious because I found the perfect frame but the lenses would be the key. I communicated to them that I wanted thinner lenses and showed them the pair that I hated and said "not like these". Kenny assured me that he would make it nice. I decided not to wait for them and would pick it up on Monday. Today is Monday and I'm so happy with my new glasses! It is exactly what I wanted!! Kenny and his wife are the sweetest couple as well. I think they knew I was happy because I couldn't stop smiling! Highly recommend! I chose a high-end frame but after Kenny figured how much my insurance would pay, I felt the price was very reasonable (less than what I paid for at Straub for something I hated). Thank you, Kenny and Wife! I will definitely tell my friends and family to go Seoul Optical for their optical needs. read more
