Simply the Best. Dr. Yamamoto went out of his way to help me. Extremely knowledgeable, with very reasonable pricing and an extensive selection. I also had a very quick turn around. Real commitment to service. He seems to be able to handle everything in the shop, including lenses and frames. I don't see any reason to go anywhere else anymore. Highly recommended. read more

Dr. Yamamoto provides EXCELLENT service and prices! He's so friendly, professional, and honestly cares for his patients. He saved me a ton of money by reusing my old frames that I absolutely loved instead of fast-selling me designer frames that resembled my old frames anyway and cost an arm and a leg. He also helped me get a refund from my insurance. No other optician had ever done that for me. He's the best! My only regret is, year after year, giving certain widely advertised eyeglass shops business who overcharge on frames, especially, and trick you into believing you're getting a good deal. Thank you, Dr. Yamamoto! read more

Keith is amazing. He fixed my glasses and had me out in under 30 min. No one else (and i made a few phone calls) can do what he did for same day service and a super reasonable. I'm pretty sure he does and has all brands and don't have to have even bought them from him. He is so friendly and has much aloha in him. Talk about wanting to support a local. Next new pair I need I know exactly where I'm going. read more

Keith is so nice and fixed my glasses in no time. I really appreciate it!!! Mahalo!!!

Definitely take all your eyeglasses, sunglasses needs here. Mr. Yamamoto is a serious professional when it comes to eyewear. He's extremely courteous, knowledgeable, patient, and has years of experience with glasses. He was able to get me the latest progressive transition lenses that suit my needs. We went through the insurance coverages slowly and methodically, so I understood exactly what I was getting and what my copay was. Additionally, he's very skilled and adjusted my glasses by adding nose pieces! New glasses/lenses were done quickly, within a week! Lots of options for glasses and sunglasses, including designer wear! Parking in the garage is paid, but he validates! Definitely call to check if he takes your insurance before you go. Readily answers calls and communicates with you via email or phone call. read more

In the heart of Honolulu right across McKinley high school in the old Atlas Building is an optician who stands out not just for his exceptional service but for the way he makes you feel like family. Keith Yamamoto is that optician. His attention to detail is second to none, ensuring that every pair of glasses is a perfect fit and every lens is crystal clear. He helped my wife and daughter pick out two pairs of glasses that match each of our faces, styles, and preferences... and even gave us complementary lens cleaners and microfiber towels. What truly sets Keith apart is that he is an his independent licensed optician that doesn't have to stick to recommending one or two manufacturer lines of eyewear. Instead, his independence allows him to carry an impressive selection of many Asian-fit designer brands and products that you don't see at Costco Eye Care and other eye doctor's offices. Whether you're looking for the latest in fashion eyewear or the most advanced vision coatings / technology, Keith has it all. His knowledge of the industry is extensive, and he's always ready to guide you through the options to find what's best for you and your family's needs. There was no 'post-purchase' regret that I often experience with my family's choices. Keith was able to walk us through and ensure that we were all satisfied before placing our order and walking out that door. If you're in need of an optician who combines professional expertise with a personal connection, look no further than Keith Yamamoto. He doesn't just provide eyewear; he's like an uncle that will 'take good care' of you and your ohana. Mahalo Keith for the great experience and the fantastic eyewear! read more

Best quality lenses ever and the most amazing service. I highly recommend A Yamamoto (Keith).

Such a generous person! My glasses that I purchased from him about 2 years ago had the nose piece break off. I called him and he said, no problem, come anytime and he'll fix it for me. I did and not only did he replace the broken one, he also replaced the other side that was still attached, and he didn't charge me for it! Truly a generous person! Thank you for your great customer service and generosity! I will surely go back when I need new glasses!! read more

This review is long overdue. So I got tired of babying my prescription sunglasses when I go shoreline fishing. The polycarbonate lens can scratch so easily from the salt spray. So I finally gave in and looked for prescription lens made of glass. I decided on Costa and Keith was one of the Costa authorized dealers in Honolulu. I stopped by and he was so pleasant to work with. He made the purchase so easy and kept me updated on the progress of my sunglasses. Prescription Costa sunglasses are expensive, but we'll worth the cost. I couldn't be happier with them. I'm thinking about getting another pair of Costa sunglasses so I will definitely pay Keith another visit. read more

I recommend Keith for your vision needs. Thanks Keith for being a really awesome optician and a wonderful person! read more

I accidentally fell asleep with my glasses on...when I woke up they were broken. The hinge popped out of the frame which was weird because they were brand new (2 weeks old) and I fell asleep in glasses plenty of times...usually just results in a bent hinge. I thought I was screwed because Ray Ban was only offering a replacement if I paid for it. I found Keith's place through google and thought I'd stop in to see if I can at least get the frames temporarily fixed. He fixed them rather easily and let me know that the frames were actually defective and that I should try to get a free replacement from Ray Ban. He was extremely helpful and genuinely interested in helping me. He explained every thing to me and was very adamant that I don't just let Ray Ban take my money for a defective product -- I felt the same way and I appreciated the honestly. I've worn glasses since the 3rd grade and I've never had glasses break in this way so I was convinced it was a defect when it happened, but wasn't sure. I'm pretty convinced now that it wasn't really just my fault like I originally thought. He even went as far as telling me I should dispute it with my credit card company if Ray Ban doesn't budge with the refund/free replacement...lol which I probably do if it comes to that. Another thing...the frames I had repaired were actually a replacement frame that I bought directly from Ray Ban. I had my old frames with me and upon inspection...Keith noticed I ordered the wrong replacement frames. The ones I ordered weren't Asian fitted. I couldn't believe I ordered the wrong ones but Keith offered to order the correct ones for me if I receive a refund from Ray Ban. Anyways, this is my spot if anything ever happens to my glasses again. Great experience all around. Thanks Keith! read more

I truly love my rimless invisible progressive lenses (reading-computer-distance) glasses. Keith took the added step of making a mock pair of lenses to double check the size and mutually we sized down the width more to fit my narrow shaped face. And I really am glad I have the blue light blocker--my eyes don't hurt when I work long hours on the computer. I never got the progressive lenses before because a colleague of mine said it took her a couple weeks to get used to--my goodness I had no transition time whatsoever. It pays to go to a very experienced optician like Keith. read more

I can ONLY buy my glasses from here since they're the only store I know that has "asian fit" glasses which they can customize for you! If you're looking for prescription sunglasses or glasses, this is the best place to shop! read more

Came in with a misaligned arm on my glasses which has been bothering me for awhile (the glasses would sit crooked on my face) and let me just say, Keith was incredibly helpful and very prompt with the repair. Not only was he very quick (literally less than 10 minutes), but he repaired my glasses and got them cleaned for free as well! You can tell how passionate he is about his work and that's something you definitely don't get often. I also called the office prior to showing up and Keith was kind enough to explain the directions to the office so that we wouldn't get lost. Parking was very easy to find. There is metered street parking, or you can opt to park at pacificana apartments which is in the same building as the office. Parking was free for 15 minutes--I'm not sure how much it would have been for longer as we were in there for less than that. When you get there, don't be fooled by the small office, they have a wide variety of glasses that you could choose from! As someone from the west side, this was my first time going to an optician in town and I am so glad I found this place. If you need any type of repair for your glasses for a very good cost, this is definitely the place to go! Thank you so much, Keith! read more

Very helpful to me when I broke my glasses. Fixed them right away at no charge. Greet location, good parking, very friendly staff. AAA rating! read more

I purchased a new pair of frames and lenses from Mr. Yamamoto last fall. The frames were the most expensive I've ever purchased but I liked the look and knew I'd have them for quite some time. When the new ones first arrived the lenses were not correct, but Keith found the problem, ordered new ones and they were excellent. Then, yesterday, one of the temple bars fell off while I was struggling with my Covid mask. I took them in this morning. New frames will have to be ordered - BUT - he was able to do a temporary fix so I'll have my glasses until the new frames arrive. He couldn't have been more accommodating and sympathetic to my plight. I heartily recommend him. read more

We were lost. So we called and Keith kindly gave us directions to go under the apartment looking complex, go to the lobby, and go up to the 6th floor. I ended up breaking my glasses in the middle of the night and we tried going to several eyeglass shops but they all told us nothing could be done. Keith looked at my glasses and within nanoseconds knew what to do and gave us such a great deal on a new pair and warranted us - if it breaks he'll help us again. Keith is so kind, so friendly, and funny! He gave us beautiful eyeglass cloth and even the sprayyyy! How kind! Amazing! We'll definitely be back again. Highly recommend. Wow! Just WOW! If I could give this a million stars I would. SOOO MUCH ALOHA HERE! My glasses were accidentally stepped on and basically unwearable. I saw amazing reviews and went in to see what they could do. Keith realigned my glasses in 30 seconds and they fit like new! He shook my hand and told me happy holidays with no charge. I didn't go to my "usual" place because the service was getting worse, A YAMAMOTO OPTICIAN is the ONLY place to go moving forward 2nd generation optometrist with the care and aloha like no other, Keith - huge mahalo! read more

My daughter needed contacts, but her eye doctor was booked til September. We got a prescription and went to Keith for contact fitting. Most optometrist's charge out of pocket for this, but Keith doesn't. He was so awesome the way he helped my daughter to learn how to put the contacts in. His patience and kind demeanor made the process so easy. He explained to my daughter about the type of lenses and gave her a very informative talk about the care for her contacts. After the fitting he gave us trial contacts for a week til we make sure they fit correctly. I was about to pay and he said this was all free. We would only have to pay for the contacts when he ordered them. Wow, talk about customer service!!! This is my second review and I'll probably keep adding to this review every time I visit A. Yamamoto optician. Trust me, you won't find better customer service or a better selection of glasses anywhere on island. Go see Keith you won't be disappointed!!! read more

My wife needed a new pair of glasses, but we are from another Country and we didn't understand what the specifications of a good pair of glasses were. But Yamamoto helped us a lot to understand and get a good pair of glasses. We didn't have so much money and we found the best deal at this optician store. Clean and honest service. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. We were on vacation in Waikiki when I broke my glasses. I called several places, they either said they couldn't fix it or they can send them out to fix (7-10 days), That wouldn't work. We found Keith Yamamoto on line, went by his shop this morning. He fixed my glasses in about 10 minutes and charged me next to nothing. I would highly recommend him. Cindy read more

Went to see Keith Yamamoto today, with glasses that had one arm broken. He was very personable, professional, welcoming, funny, and helpful. He did fix my broken glasses, and even drilled into it to remove a small loose bit, and bonded it. He did not charge me anything and I was very grateful! He even validated my parking under the building (entrance on Young Street, cost $1.00). I wholeheartedly recommend going to him for an honest assessment of your needs and quick and efficient service, as well as his generosity! Aloha, Warren, and Lynne who is in the commercial read more

Keith was awesome. Fixed my sunglasses for only $10 while I waited. I also noticed he has a good selection of really nice frames. Next time I need new glasses Yamamoto's will be my first stop. read more

This place is where you gotta go for selection as well as very knowlegeable service, Mr. Yamamoto aims to please, may not be the cheapest place but I've gotten many pairs of glasses from him and always feel that I've gotten a very good deal, he tries to deliver what you want, even customizes lenses to fit your face, where generic places like Lensecrafters sells frames as is. The parking is pretty much meter parking on the street, thats the only sucky part but I highly recommend this place for the selection and the knowledgeable service. read more

Mr. Yamamoto was so courteous, and helped me look at options to repairing my eyeglass frame (that I had slept on!). He even had an interesting selection of frames for smaller, oriental faces from Korea that were pretty cool and affordable. He ended up removing the lenses from my broken frame, shaved them down, and moved them into another frame that I brought in. Cost was only $25! Thank you Mr. Yamamoto for your help, at an affordable price! read more
