I always go to Paradise Optical for all of my glasses. It is a great kamaaina family run business. Staff are expert and friendly plus they focus on what you want instead of trying to sell you things you do not need. They keep up with the best technology and have good selection to serve any budget. read more

Staff were very polite and even took the time to fix and clean my daughters glasses that she had on, not purchased from them without charging us. They were very attentive to what my daughter wanted and were also mindful of our insurance. I believe we have found our new place to purchase glasses for my daughter. read more

I have been wearing progressives for years. I just got a new stylish pair from Paradise Optical and the progression is fantastic from far viewing to computer work. The transition is so smooth. Additionally the had a broad selection of very stylish frames with a good price range. The optician gave very personalized and knowledgeable service. Highly recommend PS convenient parking BIG plus! read more

It's by appointment only, but the service you receive is great. You get a chance to look at all of the frames and if you have questions or ask for opinions on the look, comfortability and prices with options, it's well received read more

Wow I wish I knew about this place before spending ridiculous $$$ at Lens Crafters. I love Oakleys, I have a lot of Oakley products especially sunglasses. I wanted to get a new pair of Transitions because my two previous ones were made thru Lens Crafters and within no time, my lens were turning yellow. Anyway, I read about this place and decided to check it out. You would need an appointment to be seen, which was ok with me. The less people inside, the better their attention to your needs are. IMOP anyway. Carl and Darrell are very professional and explained their products. They have a great selection of Oakley frames that could be made with prescription lens. I found several that I liked but one actually stood out and I could not be more pleased with it. Talk about crystal clear. A few days into using them and I am impressed. With that being said, I am ordering another Oakley frame. And for some reason, Lens Crafters couldn't take both of my HMSA Insurances BUT Paradise Optical could! Which made things even cheaper!! I definitely would recommend this place, without a doubt. I hope to have another review saying these lens haven't turned color (crossing fingers lol) read more

I have been a loyal customer of Paradise Optical for quite some time now, ever since they had their store at Pearlridge. I have always been impressed with the high-quality glasses they offer and the friendly and welcoming service I receive every time I visit the store. Daryl and the team have an amazing understanding of my eyewear needs, and they always provide me with the perfect glasses. I recently had a terrible experience at Walmart Vision Center when I went there to get my progressive glasses. I almost got into an auto accident because of the poor quality of the glasses I received. After that scary incident, I immediately headed to Paradise Optical and ordered a new pair of glasses. As expected, they did not disappoint me, and I am absolutely in love with my new Oakley glasses. Thank you, Darrell and everyone. read more

Long overdue review. Been going to Paradise Optical since they were located at Pearlridge Mall. They used to have different Optometrists at both locations who would give eye exams if you wanted. Then you could select and order glasses from their wide variety. That was really convenient; especially, accepting walk-ins before. The timing was perfect one day when I walked by. Darrell, the owner, was able to accept me without an appointment. I'd describe him as an expert in his field. He is a professional who is highly knowledgeable. You can tell he takes his job seriously and loves what he does. When I picked up my glasses, I put them on - and that was that. It fit perfectly! I was amazed that no adjustments were needed. I still remember the look on Darrell's face when he saw me rubbing my old glasses (lens) with my fingers. He said something like, "Don't do that." read more

Walk into this optical ship to browse eyeglass frames. I did NOT feel welcomed here. I was told that they were by appointment only and the two gentlemen behind the counter were rude. So I just left. Never experienced this level of customer service ever. I will never return to this shop and suggest to others to not make the same mistake as I did. Regardless of the response. Any small business in Waimalu should be appreciative of new business. I decided to take my business directly to Randolph.com where I got exactly what I wanted and a guarantee that my new purchase was appreciated by a company who knows how to show customers appreciation. read more

Paradise Optical - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

"I see, therefore I am." Those are not the wise words spoken by the revered philosopher, but nonetheless, I stand by the sentiment. Paradise Optical prides itself on being the original optometrists in Hawaii. These "OG" opticians have found a niche in offering frames by designers not available at other locations on island. Japanese frames are all the craze. First to use titanium for durability and comfort. You'll be pleased with how light these frames are. There's a decent mix of designer and lifestyle brands. Lenses are custom ordered from Oregon and will be made in a few weeks. Appointments are required. You could be awkward and stare in the window at the frames while drinking boba from next door. Ring the doorbell for extra points. Parking is available in front of the store. Just be aware that it's a busy parking lot and the drivers are quite determined to get to their destination. And if you're shopping for glasses, chances are you can't see into the future as junk drivers zip by as you're backing out. Almost spilled my boba. 0 out of 10, do not recommend the parking. Love the frames, though. read more

Very good service. The senior discount was the icing on the cake. I won't be buying my eyeglasses from the doctor's office anymore.

I've been here a few times now, always to help my brother pick out a new frame for his glasses. I didnt catch his name, but the guy that helped us was super friendly and helpful! There is a huge selection of frames to choose from, including for sunglasses as well. Not just of styles, but of brands and price too. You can get anything from Oakley to Porsche brands. We looked at a few different frames, but eventually my brother chose a wooden frame that has a plastic coating to protect it from water. I cant remember the exact brand name, but we were told that Paradise Optical are the only ones in the state carrying that product. That's pretty awesome. In terms of pricing, I'm not sure what would be considered "expensive" for glasses. But based on the quality and service, I think it's pretty good. I dont wear glasses on a regular basis, but I feel that buying them here is a good investment for those that need to wear them all the time. I'll definitely come here for myself if I ever need glasses permanently. But for now, I enjoy coming in just to help my brother whenever he needs a new pair. read more

Great customer service by Darrell! I'm a first timer shopping for glasses so I had no clue what to look for. Darrell definitely used his expertise, experience and overall awesome Aloha Customer service! I ended up paying for frames and lenses on sale. Great brand names by Oakley, Porsche, and many more He has brought in a unique brand to islands. See pic. Frames made of high quality beautiful wood. Although they don't accept my insurance, Darrell gave me an awesome deal that I couldn't pass up! He is so helpful and super friendly. I recommend checking it out! He also has a 2 year scratch warranty which is awesome for me cause I always end up with scratches on my lenses lol. read more

If I were a baseball player, today I batted a hundred. If I were a bowler, I had a perfect game. If I were a golfer, I had a hole in one...... Today was my perfect day and I found the perfect Optical shop My car has a difficult time going past the airport viaduct but lately, for one reason or another, I've been on journeys westward. Today is one of those days. I start out to the Aiea area to visit one of my clients. After my business was over, I stopped in at one of my favorite wine shops (this was my first bonus of the day) and then I took a chance and stopped in at Paradise Optical. I have been in the market for new lenses on my old frames. Almost everyone (Sears, Lens Crafters,...) turned me away saying it was not worth it or they could not do it. Imagine that! But not Paradise. I asked "do you replace lenses?" and Darrell says "Yep, we do...". I say " Okay, wait a sec, let me run to my car and get the frames for you to look at".... ..got the frames.... Darrell says "Yep we can do it, now then, what type of lens...." Darrell (I think he's one of the owners) was so very polite and helpful and quite a salesperson as I walked out with a NEW set of glasses... in addition to replacing the lens on of of the old frames. I got a discount too. Now that I'm part of their "family". So- to the big stores....Lenscrafters, Sears, etc...." You can be the Goliath but you can't stop David" Great place and good selection and good service, worth the price, worth the drive and PARKING... is plentiful. Located in central Waimalu in the Waimalu Shopping Center, next to SWAM, Paradise Bakery, Starbucks and many other merchants read more

I CAN SEE CLEARLY 5/5 Stars I have been coming here for the past 5 years and they have always been so polite & helpful. What I really love about this place is that it is an all-in-one place. You are able to walk-in half blind, get an eye appointment & 10 minutes later have the perfect contacts on. Then you are able to look around the office at a wide selection of glasses that will be ready in a week or so. Compared to other doctor's offices, they are on point with taking you in on time or even earlier. That's a Plus! My last appointment I came in with my mother & she wanted to get reading glasses. They took her in right after me & we both got our eye exams done. I love how nice they are. They even worked out all of our insurance things out before our exams were done & our bill was ready right away. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH OR CARD, NO CHECKS. This office is stocked with contacts so I was able to take home 6 months worth of contacts that day. Whenever I do run out, I just call in my order & can pick it up right away. They recently changed the optometrist here but she is very good & patient. Every visit is always a very enjoyable experience. They have great customer service & are always welcoming. read more

Working with computers has definitely put a strain on my eyesight, I never had a problem before and wasn't really serious about getting them checked. But when blurred visions and dizziness takes a factor what else is there left to do. Luckily for me I live right up the road from this gem and decided to walk in on a Saturday. I was in luck, Patti and Daryl greeted me and my son as we walked in. And I asked if they accept walk-in's. They told me to sign in and gave me an estimated time for my appointment. They were very friendly and accommodating since I had my son with me. They told me to take a seat and wait or I could walk around and they will give me a call when optometrist will be ready to see me. I opt to just wait because it was hot and I did not have the energy to drag my son around with me. The place is very clean and spacious and lots of glasses to try on. Patti caught a glimpse of me and my wondering eyes and she told me to try them on.. hehe. Very observant and super friendly staff. Daryl was with another customer teaching her about wifi and how to use it and that gesture was very nice to see. I probably waited less than half an hour to be seen. The optometrist and her assistants office is located in the back. My son and I went in and did the standard test and did more tests with the optometrist, sorry can't remember her name but she was very nice and had good bedside manners. She explained what's going on with my eyesight and having glasses with be like magic, no more squinting eyes and trying to make out words from afar. Once my exam was done, I got to choose my frames and lens. I choose the clear no glare lens which comes with a 2 year warranty. The prices were good, total was $360 and insurance coverage was $130, oh yeah forgot to mention, my frames were Ray Ban so that cost a little bit more. But they have all kinds of brands for frames, COACH, Burberry, Oakley, etc. Overall the experience was great, if you have never had glasses before or never had an eye exam you should really consider coming here. They treat you very nicely and give you all the information that you need. I got my glasses in a week and they fit perfectly and also got a $25 gift card for future purchases and a cloth, Daryl gave me (2) since I couldn't make up my mind on the color :) read more

Remember the small bookstore in "You Got Mail," w/ Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks? If you do, then this is what Paradise Optical reminds me of....'the little shop around the corner.' If you don't, then you should make the drive to Waimalu to feel for yourself. A modern, quaint little shop stocked with humble owners (2 brothers - Chris & Darrell), great frames, and wonderful, hard to find authentic caring, customer service....'they want to, not because they have to." I'll even stop in to get my frames adjusted and just to say "Hi" So comfortable, I enjoy chatting & laughing with them, that I have to tell myself, "time to leave!" Easily located on/off the freeway. Take the time and 'SEE' for yourself. No disappointment here. read more

I've been getting all my eyecare/eyewear from Paradise Optical for more than 10 years now, and couldn't be happier! Paradise has a great selection of quality eyewear, but I'd like to rave most about their customer service. The crew at Paradise really care about the individual customer-they know people by name, give generously of their time in helping you select and fit your glasses, stand behind their product, and truly know what they're talking about. I think customer service is a dying art, but they sure bring it back to life here in a way that's so refreshing! Coming to Paradise feels like walking into a home. Been going to Paradise Optical for years (for shades, contacts, and/or prescription glasses). They are locally owned and their service is great. When my Oakley Gascans were lifted from my work desk, I was deeply saddened as they were my favorite shades. Best optical shop on Oahu! And we've been to a lot, if not most optical shops. We found Paradise Optical in a struggle to find a provider that accepted my fiancé's vision insurance, VSP. We sure are glad to have come across Darrell and his family/team! Darrell personally took care of us the day we came in to see what they carried. He helped my fiancé find his pair of glasses, which proved to be really hard as he is super picky (LOL). It was such a great experience; shop is well-kept and organized. Darrell took the time to go thru all our options and ensured us the best quality of our choice. He even shared with us the history of his family who started this shop - we love supporting local! Fiancé's glasses were ready in a little over a week, and when I went in to pick them up, I received the same great service again! They even gave me a few goodies for myself, on top of those for my fiancé, even though my pair of glasses are not from them (which I'm really bummed about now) - but you can be sure, ALL my and my fiancé's future pairs of glasses will be from here!
