Dr. Matsuyama is great and very polite. She asked questions about my day and really made me feel comfortable at my appointment. So is Kelly she assisted me with a problem I had. I scheduled a follow up appointment and was even provided a reminder card. But found out the appointment was never scheduled. She helped me with scheduling a new one. I also had some questions about my previous appointment and she helped me with that as well. I tried to contact the Honolulu office and whoever answered the phone was very rude and seemed like they didn't want to assist me. I really suggest anyone that needs eye care. My friend has done LASIK surgery at Hawaii Vision Center before so I decided to have a free consultation with them.. Once I submitted their online form, I got a call back and Robert left me a detail message including pricing. He said to go in for Aiea location. The day I went in, the office looked really cluttered and unorganized. I saw muliple personal items of the staffs just left around in the office... When I was doing the eye exam, I could not see well on one eye, was wondering why....then after a while I figured their machine lense was dirty, and I had to tell the Dr. it was the lense. I have never had that happen to me at an eye doctor before. The price I got over the phone was 4100 dollars for military dependent. My friend who was also a military dependent at the time paid 3800 for both eyes. I negotiated with the Dr. and he said he could do it for 3900. A month later, I got a bill for thier FREE consultation priced over $240. I was stunned because on the website it said free and even the day of the consultation, I made sure with the receptionist as well. (Matter fact I have never seen any eye doctor who does not do free consultation for lasik). I called the office to have the matter corrected numerous times and the lady who is in charge of billing never picks up her phone so I left voice messages every time, yet NEVER calls me back. I went on their website again and they clearly say free consultation. On top of that, now I found the price list for lasik and they quoated me higher price than what it is listed on their websited even after the negotiation. This business is a scam. I would never ever get anything done here if I were you. I totally believe the one star review someone else left about this Dr. office. read more

Thank you to Dr. Wong, and his awesome staff for seeing me on such short notice. I had an unfortunate incident a few days back, and was hoping my eyes would get better. They didn't:( so I started searching for an eye doctor that could fit me in ASAP. I called a few places, many of which could not see me for a few weeks. I finally found Hawaii Vision Clinic and spoke to a super sweet receptionist who fit me in for this morning(called yesterday afternoon). I was checked in quickly, which was awesome given that their waiting area was full. Dr. Wong was quick but efficient and super easy to talk to. He was able to identify what was going on and gave me eye drops. I'm very happy to have found this office, and will be back again when I need to. read more

4 stars because this place is clean and neat.The equipment is up to date. Dr. Wong & Dr. Jennifer are highly educated! They know what there talking about. Last year I seen 3 eye doctor, one at Wal-Mart pearl city, one at Dr. Endo in pearl city also and the last one i seen was Hawaii Vision Clinic in Aiea. Among all, Hawaii Vision Clinic was the best. I knew my eyes were unusual and a bit weird but Hawaii Vision took care of me. At Wal-Mart I made two visits there, did my eye exam and the Dr just gave me prescription. I tried it out for a month and the glasses was just not working for me. Went back to Wal-Mart and another doctor helped me, she did an eye exam and just gave me a higher prescription which was way off from the first one. The glasses was stronger i could tell and didn't help me at also. I tried to go back and return the glasses because it was just not working for me, but they couldn't do the refund. I had no insurance so I wasted $300 there. Went to Dr. Endo's and did another eye exam. The Dr. there said i have very high astigmatism. She said glasses are not needed for me cause my eyes will have a hard time focusing with it so I'm better off without them. She told me I will need to do surgery because my eyes are too small for the lens they give. Furthermore, she looked really lost with me. She actually told me straight up they there's nothing she can do but referred me to someone else that is really out of my district. Lucky my mom found Dr. Wong at Hawaii Vision. Went to Hawaii Vision and Dr. Jennifer was the first to see me. She was awesome, really explained to me why my eye was was weird. I have very high astigmatism, like the highest one among all there clients. My second visit was with Dr. Wong because Dr, Jennifer told him about my eye. They took control, and figured out what they can do with me. They set up appointments for me to visit a lot and to see any changes and also advised me to take these really tick lens that might stop my astigmatism from getting worst. They said I'm lucky that my eyes are good enough for me to drive and really made me feel like I'm going to be okay. Why not 5 stars? Well first of all parking is not free lol, and the people at the front desk are irritating a little. Even on the phone. I got a voice mail from them and called back and told me no one called... ummmm okay...??? They went around and around with me. But overall, they got the job done. I love it here. :) Got introduced to Dr. William Wong and Hawaii Vision Clinic through word of mouth! The staff is all really nice and helpful, they're not rude at all. They're pretty amazing. I'm not gonna lie. I like it because they don't really make you wait! Like at all doctors offices, you do have to wait for a little while. But I find they're pretty on it with my appointment times! The only downfall is the fact that they pretty much nag at you when you're choosing a pair of frames for your eyeglasses! When I got my first pair of glasses, it wasn't even a pair that I chose! I chose the guy version of these Oakleys and got a total girl version that I could have cared less about! And when I recently chose out my Ray Bans, my nurse was like . . . I don't like it, I think they look too big for you. And I just told her that those were the ones I wanted! Hopefully they don't do it again! My significant other just went to the AIEA location of Hawaii Vision Clinic because she had a good experience at the Ala Moana Hawaii Vision Clinic previously. She is very pleasant, courteous, humble, and polite, with over 10 years of experience working for a media business branch of a large financial company: she is no stranger when it comes to dealing with people. Says she felt rushed by the office staff, was very uncomfortable when office staff acted annoyed towards her because she had questions, and does not want to come back there ever again. She felt so rushed she walked out of the office neither knowing what quantity of contact lenses she paid for nor what brand, and at this point would rather pay the same amount of money again at a different office and get a new examination and another new 3 month supply of lenses so she wouldn't have to come to this place again. When I personally get contacts, my ophthalmologist has me try on 3-5 different kinds during the appointment so I walk out with a perfect fit. My wife here was offered a choice of 1 ... and she doesn't have much time to waste to keep coming back to try things one at a time. Her time is valuable too. Well, she cant wear the new contacts (which weren't cheap) for more than 30min because they are not comfortable after 30 min and wants to have nothing to do with this practice at this point. She doesn't write reviews like this on yelp either because she's too polite, so here I am. I feel obligated to comment for the sake of others. I work in medicine myself, I am acutely aware of standard of care, and will send my wife directly to peer instead after this.  I wasn't with my wife in the Aiea office to see what happened with my eyes, but its a shame if thats how patients are treated there and is not something I have personally run into in any other medical facility. Rodney had a procedure done by Dr William Wong Jr. He has been always my first choice when I lost a dear friend Dr C and I know I can trust Dr Wong whole heartedly. It's been over a year and I totally agree that there billing department are the worst and need to learn how to do there stuff properly. I paid over 200$ for them not telling me my insurance didn't cover " name brand lenses" when I made it clear and asked them if it did and they told me YES and that I pay upfront and my insurance will send me a reimbursement check ? Never ever going back to them again and then they tried to write me a personal check for $55 ? And then it was wrong and tried to write one for $35 . Worst billing ever and when I called my insurance she told me that THEY billed it wrong and had to reprocess the claim. Please train your billing department read more

Went for the past two years. Basically, they are always too busy to help. The first time I was leaving on a semi-long term trip (about 5 months) and wanted to get a new prescription before I left. Got the new glasses, but everyone was too busy to help with the adjustment that day, so I just took them. The new glasses ended up digging into my left ear and were much looser than any of my previous glasses. Second time I went, I waited for 2 hours for an exam that they rushed me through in 15 minutes telling me my prescription was pretty much the same so no need for the eye exam part where they flip the different lenses (never had this happen at any other optometrist before). The offices are nice, the people are nice, but they are basically overloaded with too many patients to offer quality care to each individual. read more

It was that time to get an eye exam since I have not had one since 2013. I researched what my insurance covered and then looked to Yelp (Of Course!). I found this business to have consistently good reviews and Dr.Wong is on the Best doctors list, so I figured I cant go wrong! I called and scheduled an appointment. The date for an appointment wasn't very far out at all and the paperwork was sent to me in the mail prior to the appointment. When I got to the building, I found parking within a few moments of arriving. The parking is pricey if you are going to be a while. (1.00 every 30 minutes). The elevators were broken and the office is on the 7th floor. Be prepared if you gotta walk the stairs! Overall, the visit took about 2 hours as a new patient. I was seen soon after my appointment time and was given a follow up appointment once finished. I didn't see Dr.Wong, but another doctor in the office. However, He was knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The only disconnect was in regards to getting new glasses afterwards. I was given a new prescription, but was not helped in any way on getting a new pair of glasses. I inquired about which glasses were covered under my plan (It states on my plan 270 glasses are at no copay) and was told that I just pick a pair and my insurance would pay 140. Well, when I looked and found a pair, I was then told my insurance covered only 45. I decided to hold off on new glasses and left to figure out what glasses I can get with my insurance without a 150 extra fee. They do have a nice selection, but they all seem to be designer and pricey if your insurance company does not cover a large amount for glasses. Overall the care was solid, but I would say the improvement would be the after care in the case someone is getting an updated prescription/ glasses, so the process goes more smoothly and the patient can make a more informed decision. read more

I've had so many problems with contact orders, appointments and billing issues for the past 3 years i've gone to them that i've finally found another eye doctor. Not only do they constantly bill you after you've paid (which i think is a scam for the elderly!), they lie to you saying they've credited back for what they owe. HORRIBLE BUSINESS. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE unless you want to get ripped off and deal with billing issues for OVER A YEAR. read more

Purchased two groupons, both for eye exams. When I showed up for my appt, receptionist was unaware groupons had even been for sale so I had to explain to her that I was there with a groupon. Dr (can't remember her name...) was pretty curt. She asked if I wanted to get fitted for contacts as well so I asked her if I could use the $59 value of my second groupon toward that and she said no and that my $59 was only worth half of that amount because its a groupon. This is actually wrong. $59 is $59 regardless. What changes is how much I can get for that $59. So, if I had added that $59 onto my eye exam, I easily could've paid the difference to be fitted for contacts. I don't foresee going here ever again. read more

Went in for my first eye exam and Dr Bill Wong was very informative, I felt very comfortable and it was a great experience.

Very friendly staff, if you aren't satisfied with something they will take corrective measures to make sure you are happy and satisfied. The Doctor was patient with all my questions about lasik and talked through my procedure in detail. On the day of my procedure he made me very calm and everything went smoothly! Dr. William Wong is part of a group, which has been caring for my eyes for a number of years. Earlier this year, he moved into new, fabulous offices , adjacent to the swimming pool deck, on the fifth floor of the parking garages of Nauuru Towers, located across the street from Ala Moana Park. About four months ago, he performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. Yesterday, 17 July 2015, I visited Dr. Wong for a check up, and my vision essentially has been restored to 20/20 level. While I still need glasses for reading purposes, he has advised that over the next year my eye sight will continue to improve. I am experiencing no negative effects from the surgery. For me, my eye sight is the most important of my faculties., because it is the means by which I continue to connect to the external world, close by and far away mostly by what I read. In the past six weeks, during a visit with my daughter in NC, I read eight (8) books on Christian theology, philosophy, economics, psychology and politics. Most important of all, at my age of 85, it is through my eye sight and the ability to read that I'm able to continue to exercise my mind, to sustain my mental faculties and to live a productive life until " Death do us part." read more
