I had interactions with 4 different people that day all 4 four were great! Help at home and treated me as family not just another customer. First person was the receptionist, young girl with glasses, helped me fill out forms and answered questions about my insurance coverage. Second person was the lady in the back that blew air into my eyes. Third person was the eye doctor, talked story and made me feel at ease when doing the whole " 1 or 2" exam. And last person I had during the experience was the lady with her side computer that informed me of all my different payment options, and covered in great details about the glasses and work safety glasses my insurance covered, End of the day this is the only place I will be going for all my eye needs.

This man clearly has no experience supporting children through eye examinations. And he continued to pressure me to dilate my 4 year olds eyes, mind you I have full coverage insurance and felt he was just trying to rack up our bill. Front office is chaotic and disorganized, felt like a used car salesmen office. Should've left the second we walked in.

As I planned to have both of my eyes done over the next few months, for laser glaucoma surgery, i…read morebegan going to Dr. Tokunaga (who I was referred to by my regular eye doctor Dr. Chan at Honolulu Vision Care Center in Hawaii-Kai) at the Aloha Vision Consultants location in Aiea as it was closer to where I now live. I went to both pre and post exams from September 2024 to my final follow-up in June 2025. Several of the post operation exams were performed by Dr. Soriano with the final follow-up exam appointment done by Dr. Tokunaga. Besides having the laser glaucoma surgery, i opted also for near AND far vision corrections AND the procedure to lessen the eye pressure from the mild glaucoma that I have had for a few years. Yay! No need for use of my gas permeable contacts ANYMORE that i have used since 1985 and glasses before than since the 5th grade! My first surgery took place on Veterans Day on November 12, 2024 on my left eye (as that eye was my strong eye) since i would without the use of glasses or contacts until my next eye surgery to my right eye in February, the 24th to be exact. The actual eye surgeries for both eyes took place at an eye surgery center on the second floor of the Dole Cannery Square in Iwilei. My right eye post-surgery did not' 'heal' as quickly as my left eye surgery back in November, so I had to go to one more post follow up exams... which by that time, my vision had noticeably improved ! The feeling of warmth and compassion by EVERY staff member was so genuine and not a 'put on show' that when I had my last follow up with Dr Tokunaga in mid-June, I (sincerely) shook his hand and really wanted to break down and cry to tell him how welcomed i felt with he and his staff! I know, I know...I'm a man at 66... but hey, I still have feelings you know... haha... You know that i now live in Waipahu and not the east side... i did have strong thoughts of changing my eye exam location to here in Aiea. But I still also have my allegiance to Dr. Chan and staff at Hawaii-Kai where i have gone there since 2006.. so hence, I will still gladly make the drive to Hawaii Kai. But Aloha Vison Care Aiea ---- ALL OF YOU... deserve the compliments that i have to talk about! btw, parking there at that medical building complex is $1 per 30 minutes...no need to stamp anything at the doctor's office...

They are like a really bad dysfunctional office. I waited over 2 months for my trial lenses because…read morethey were never ordered, even after I called after 4 weeks just to see if maybe they came in. I was told then that it wasn't in but lenses were a special prescription so it takes longer than normal lenses. Another 4 weeks pass, no call. I call and am told that my trial lenses were never ordered. WHAT? Now, I am more than upset. The person I am speaking to this time says she will order them and it will take a week to come in. Wow! After another week passes I call and am surprised that my trial lenses are in and schedule a fitting the next day. I show up for my appointment only to find out that they ordered the wrong trial lenses. Wrong prescription! Now I am livid. I call the following morning to speak to the woman who placed my order and she dumps a whole bunch of excuses on why the wrong lenses were ordered including but not limited to... "I couldn't read the doctor's handwriting", "We're really short staffed", "I don't work the same days as your doctor", and the one that absolutely blew my mind, " This F**K** office is so messed up!" My first appointment was end of at end of July and I am writing this review at the beginning of November. Sadly, I still do not have my complete order of contact lenses which cost me $580. You can be assured that I will NOT return to this office, even if it were the only optometrist office on the island.

With every visit, he makes sure that you not only are physically well, but mentally too. This whole person type of care is just an example of his compassion as a doctor and this is also reflected by everyone who works in the office as well. This office truly takes you in as family and not just another patient in their files. Parking is easy as the office is served by a very large parking structure that is connected to the building. Paying for parking is also very easy as there are payment kiosks on every floor that take both physical and touches payment options. Appointments are fairly easy to get if you are in immediate need as they allow for same day or next day appointments if you call when they open. This has been an absolute life saver for times when you are feeling sick and would love to see someone right away.

His staff are just as great as Dr Nitta too! Very friendly and easy to talk with. It never fails that when I leave the office, I'm always in good spirit. Parking is easy and no validation to the parking tickets you get upon entering. Pay your ticket by kiosk located on floor 1 and 3. Not sure if there's one on the 2nd floor since I never go to that floor anyways! Waiting room is small and cozy so don't bring your whole family with you cause theres like 5-6 chairs. On each floor tho, there's a waiting area next to the elevators. Anyways, here's to a 5 star update to this Yelp page!
