The selection of glasses are predominantly thick, big plastic frames. Most are way too big for my face. There's always a turnover of technicians. Some know what they're doing but most don't. My glasses are always slipping down my nose, yet none of the technicians have been able to solve this problem. One overdid it so badly that she warped my frames--Costco had to replace them free of charge. I tried to get smaller frames, but they didn't have much to choose from. They are not cheap and they keep pushing for the progressive lenses that darken/lighten. Glasses don't last more than 5 years before the coating they put on your lenses starts to flake off. This is for the eye exam/dr office in Costco, not so much the eye glasses side. Only down side is that they seem to be so busy! It took me a while for them to even see me, I called second week of June and the earliest was July 8th for an appt. All the staff were quick and friendly. Dr. Kusaka was so informative and friendly. Everything she did, she would explain what was happening and why. She would answer my questions with a breeze and easy for me to understand. She was just so professional! I would recommend, but don't want to so that it'll be a shorter wait time next time I need an appt! Hahah. read more

Dec 2020 - Jan 2021 This review is very long overdue; I've been going to this particular location for my optometry needs for the better part of 10 years. Can't stress enough how polite the receptionists and optom techs are! There are 3 optometrists who share this office; I've seen them all and have no complaints about any of them. Scheduling (esp recently w/ COVID) can be 1-2 months out so make sure you call ahead of time to book an appt! I've had no problems with actually ordering my contacts / frames too, the optical shop employees are also very friendly and easy to work with. COVID CONCERNS: 1. The door to get into the office is locked, you'll need to call the number (on the door) to let them know you're outside and they'll let you in or ask you to wait for a bit. 2. Temp checks are done before entering. 3. Frequent hand washing by all staff & all are wearing masks appropriately. read more

Yep, these people are not friendly, courteous or helpful. I wish it weren't true, but that's just the way it is. I didn't use the doctor onsite so I have no idea what that side does, but the Optical department is junk. They used to be just slow, now they're slow and rude. Not better. Horrible receptionists!! WORST SERVICE!!!!! First, they canceled my appointment when I didn't even call to cancel. I called to see what future dates they had available, but instead they took it as I canceled. I never confirmed a future date and I showed up to my scheduled appointment. When I arrived they lectured me--saying that I had canceled. Second complaint has been how rude the receptionist is with me. There's no aloha or hospitality. The way they talk to me is very insulting...short words and in a tone that implies I cannot understand medical jargon at all. I've worked in the medical field for years, so I get very annoyed when I get nothing but rude responses after asking relevent questions. They are not friendly faces, they are unpleasant, and they seem unhappy in their profession. The third complaint I have is poor service and incompetence. Dr Takaki told me he had a prescription ready for me several times, but every time I went to their office to turn-in my glasses, I find that my prescription isn't ready. Also, I've gone through TWO trials of contacts and each time, they've dried my eyes out...Dr. Tajaki tells me "its not dry...it's all in your head." Lol. Thanks, doctor. Maybe the doctor is rude to me because the receptionist has misinformed him and told him things I didn't say. It's obvious the receptionist has misinformed him because he's always saying things that make no sense to me. He becomes frustrated quickly and assumes his bad information is my fault. After I explain to him what I told the receptionist, he argues with me and thinks his staff couldn't possibly be mistaken. It's very rude and I feel stupid every time I see him. Dr. Takaki seems to talk to non-locals like they're stupid (well, at least me). It's hard to explain, but it's just some of things he says have suggested he's not happy with those moving to Oahu. I would not recommend this doctor to a friend. Hopefully my next optometrist is better...but that's not saying much. read more

They were closing in 40 min so they didn't want to take us as a walk in, they didnt have any customers...... Even after shopping 30 min later they didnt have any customers. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went to this place. It totally contradicts the good reputation of Costco. When I told the doctor that even with the prescribed contacts my vision was blurry, he told me that he can write down the degree for me but there is no need to do a follow-up exam. Additionally, they are so stingy that they would not even give me a sample pair to try. How can you just write down a prescription without an eye exam? By law, we need an updated prescription every year for our health. Unprofessional opticians should not take advantage for the sake of making money. The receptionists are impatient and rude, and I will not let them service me again. read more
