Forewarned, this will not be an earth shattering review, but a positive one. With all that is going on around us, we know that we need some good things, no matter how small. Recently, I dropped my eyeglasses and one of the lenses popped out. Luckily these were my back up pair so I wouldn't be walking around all day with only one lens in place. I wasn't able to get the lens back in securely and figured I needed a professional to get it done. I did a search and this place came up along with the standard Lenscrafters, Walmart and Costco. I am always looking to support small business when I can so I sent them a message stating what my situation was. I got a reply in less than 1/2 a day that suggested I just walk in. I found them in the building that was nicknamed "the Ghostbuster's building" from the '90s. I was directed by the security guard to head up to the 12th floor and with this pandemic going on, there wasn't much activity in the building. When you first enter the office, there is a thermal screen that instructs you to align your face with the screen to take your temperature. It announces your temperature and I was greeted to take a seat and wait my turn. When my turn came up, I showed them my glasses and explained my situation. Both people working there looked it over, took it off to the side and worked on it. It was brought back to me with the lens secured into the frame, looking new! I asked them "How much do I owe you" and they replied "nothing, just remember us when you need glasses and other optical stuff". I was really happy, but expecting to pay especially since they have such limited hours now and all small businesses have been affected recently. I will be back to place any future orders. read more

This place is amazing! I initially went in for a glass repair because my dog got a hold of my boyfriend's glasses and the lens and the frame were separated. I called in beforehand to see if I needed an appointment but he told me to just come in. He inspected the glasses when I arrived and he fixed it in 10 seconds!! I was so impressed! And he refused to charge me for the repair! Since I needed new glasses anyways, I decided to get a new one here. They have a good variety selection of glasses. I hardly give out 5 stars -- so you know this place is legit. This place is amazing. Everything that everyone says about this place is true. The optometrist/ owner is exceptionally nice. He is bilingual -- perfect English and Korean. He is extremely helpful and is meticulous in helping you pick the right frames and lenses. He gives excellent customer service to everyone that walks in! They also accept insurance! I have dual coverage so I think I only had to pay like $5 for my lenses. The only downside is the selection of frames. He didn't have a large selection of large designer frames, but he said he could order anything as long as I knew the model number. He advised me to buy it myself through a different company because it was cheaper (saving me money ). He also switched out my glasses case to a larger one because the company I got it from sent it with the smaller case. It was time to fill my glass prescription and being that I have Ohana Health Plan it was not easy to find optical centers that accepts them. I contacted my eye doctor's office and they had refer me to Seoul Optical. They were easy to find since they are located in the Pacific Guardian Tower on Kapiolani and Keeaumoku with garage parking. Came in and was immediately met by Kenny Kim who was the sweetest and helpful man. He quickly gave me a quote and broke down how much my insurance covers and my out of pocket cost. My mom also needed her glass prescription filled and Kenny helped her verify with the insurance that she is completely covered for free. I would definitely give him 10 stars because of his excellent customer service and speed we got our glasses done and ready in less than 30mins. This review is much overdue. Last year I needed new prescription glasses and searched Yelp for some help. I came across Seoul Optical and decided to give it a chance. Parking was spacious and easy to find within the building. Immediately after entering on the 12th floor, the owner was helping others but immediately helped me pick out some glasses after those customers left. Also, I recently moved to Arkansas and needed to go back the next day and he told me that he would help me ship them to me even though it was out of his way and truly didn't have to. The owner even bubble wrapped it and everything! That extra touch totally matters. I talked so highly of this place that my Mom went yesterday. She was in and out under an hour with her glasses! tl;dr: It's hard to find genuinely kind, helpful and professional people who are good at their craft but Seoul Optical is all three and more. read more

I Visited Seoul Optical on 1/31/22 and presented my HMSA Quest Integration card to the owner. The Owner stated that HMSA QUEST "just changed" their glasses policy "this year" and now only credits "$60" and the rest I would have to pay for. The Owner presented me with a final price of $160 and some odd change. I was very surprised that even with the "$60" credit it still came out to around $160. I declined and left. I called HMSA Quest customer service the same day and in speaking with a representative, there is no credit policy, and if this was an IN-NETWORK provider, my glasses single frame would have been Free, otherwise I would have had an allowance of "$155" and I the patient would be given a co-pay. The kind representative looked up "Seoul Optical" and saw they are OUT-OF-NETWORK since this year (2022) and will not be covered by HMSA Quest. I informed the representative that the Owner said he accepts HMSA QUEST and did not inform me that he was OUT-OF-NETWORK. The representative explained if he was part of the network my charge should have been Free or minimal with the "$155" allowance. To others, if you are HMSA QUEST I do not recommend Seoul Optical. Per the policy, if this was was IN-NETWORK my glasses would have been free or minimal with the $155 allowance. read more

I got my prescription filled at Lins Eye Care by Dr. Paul Lin at the Walmart Vision Center who recommended Seoul Optical as a great place for quick service. It is just down the street. I was greeted by an automatic temperature check at the door and entered what has to be the most tastefully decorated office I have ever seen - on the 12th floor with an amazing panoramic view of the Ko'olau Mountains behind Honolulu. The owner was polite, amazing, and very quick. I was able to get an outstanding pair of glasses with polycarbonate lenses and Flexon Anderson 600 frames, and I got out the door with a perfect fit in less than 45 minutes. All the while, he also served what appeared to be other very satisfied customers in the meantime while not neglecting anyone. Outstanding service at competitive pricing. Recommended! read more

I lost my glasses to the ocean -- and didn't have a backup pair! So, I really needed glasses quickly. I found a couple of reviews that mentioned that Seoul Optical does 1 hour glasses, so I decided to give them a try. I found their location on the 12th floor, and was happy to see a beautiful room with a huge wall of frames to pick from. They had a wide range of styles and colors available, and they were really laid back and not at all pushy while I tried some on (I don't like it when people hover while I try on glasses!). I found a pair I was almost ready to get, but thought they might be a little too small for my face -- so then they handed me a very similar but slightly larger pair, and it was a perfect fit! It was just the right amount of help!! The most amazing part was that they made my glasses not in an hour, but in 15 minutes while I sat there! I have a pretty strong prescription, so I was worried no one would make quick glasses for me, but they did it and I can see perfectly with them! And it wasn't too expensive at all. I had called other opticians in big chain stores, and they said they could only make fast glasses if they 'happened to have the correct lenses already on hand' -- but Seoul made them right there for me. This is absolutely the best glasses shop in Honolulu. (And probably all of Hawaii.) After a quick elevator ride to the 12th floor, I was greeted by the owner of Seoul Optical. We sat down and he began recommending frames, his taste was perfect and matched my detailed preferences with ease. After a discussion about the features and several lens options (clarity, blue light blocking and automatic shading), he started working on my glasses. I thought he was working on the frame or perhaps my prescription, but he turned around after 14 minutes with a NEW PAIR OF GLASSES for me. (Yes, under 20 minutes). My mind is blown, I have never had not only quality service, but the fastest glasses in the same store. Recommended to friends and family as one of the vendors to consider when shopping for glasses. SELECTION: wide selection of known and less-known brands; primarily for glasses, but also for sunglasses. Some Asian-fit frames are available. SERVICE: Kenny and his son John have helped us on the numerous occasions we went (for browsing, fitting, order pickup for two pairs of glasses at different times this year) and they are superb - polite, professional, fluent in English and Korean, and accommodating. For my pair of glasses, there was a slight imperfection (non-noticeable) of one lens which Kenny kind got replaced right away. Readjustments and issues are addressed quickly and easily. PRICE: Costco and others may get you a lower price; however, you would have to choose from a very limited selection. Compared to many folks in town, the cost here seems to be less or much less. No discount unfortunately when buying multiple pairs of glasses, but oh well... ENVIRONMENT: great view from the 12th floor; soothing calm music in the background while you look through a well-lit, open-space store for the perfect frame for your mug! What's with all of the 5 star reviews? I recently went to my ophthalmologist and needed new prescription contacts as well as glasses. I called this place at both numbers listed and at both numbers, the mailboxes were full. I received a text in Korean from one of the numbers, so I used Google translate to read the text, which said, "Text me instead of calling." I immediately texted back "I need new contact lenses and glasses, may I make an appointment with you ASAP? I need these lenses and can come now or any time you are free." I never got a response. This is terrible customer service. Today I went to Costco and spent 600.00 on new glasses and a year's supply of contacts. You missed an opportunity to make a little money, as well as a new customer. I came here because of the great ratings. The guy in charge, Kenny, is super friendly. I wanted titanium frames so he showed me a bunch of options. Titanium frames are lightweight and durable. It was fun trying different styles. The frame he recommended first was the one I liked best. I just chose a different color. For the lenses, he recommended the premium one that blocks most of blue light. I went with it because it sounded good. Overall, it took less than 30 minutes to get my glasses. Very satisfied with the overall service from Seoul Optical. My wife had donated her only pair of glasses to the waves of Oahu and was not going to enjoy another minute without her vision. After numerous reviews of so many Optical businesses and all were about a week turnaround to get a pair made but Seoul Optical had one review mentioning a same day turnaround. Quick phone call explaining our situation and the guy said come on down. Frames picked out for $45 and lenses were $150 (wife had -6 vision so not sure if that was a factor on the lens price). Was told it would be about a hour wait time- so we went to Walmart next door to kill some time. 30 minutes later we get a call and they were ready for pick up. I go to Costco for eye exam cause it's convenient and cheap paying out of pocket and Seoul Optical does not do eye exam but he will give you a number to call where they do eye exams. I always bring in my own glasses, I bought new pair of Oliver Peoples and Costco always gives me problems when I bring in expensive pairs. They told me over 3-5 times that my glasses may break during the process were they put the lens in and Costco will not be responsible. (The most recent pair that broke were Oliver Peoples and it was only 2 weeks ago! The customer apparently was screaming at the staff, understandably) I went here after calling the first 5-6 companies that pop up when you search eye glasses. GO STRAIGHT HERE!!! Not only was Seoul Optical the cheapest but they were the fastest turn around time. For transition lens it was 6 or 7 business days to get my glasses back, other places at the fastest were around 14 business days, and at least $100-$200 more expensive!!! I will only come here when ever I need lens for my glasses made! Thank you guys!!! read more

I came here again after 7 months and losing my first glasses. I called one morning to have my glasses replaced and said I could come in anytime today to pick up a new one. I got there 3 hours later and the male working (I keep forgetting his name) greeted me with a smile, told him I had called earlier for a replacement. He asked for my name and found my information on file, he then said I could pick out any frames I wanted on the wall. There were a lot of stylish frames with different shapes and designs to choose from. I've always gotten the color black, this time I decided to get a different size and shape frames. After picking out what I wanted, I gave him the frames I wanted and said he'd have the lenses cut and installed in 40 minutes. I got back 10 minutes early and to my surprise he had already finished, cleaned and prepared everything good to go. It was such a quick and easy process. He was customer services oriented, informative with a very welcoming smile. Will definitely be coming back once more for an upgrade. read more

Need glasses? Here's your shop! Found my new "go-to" glasses shop! The owner was very friendly, patient and kind! I looked around and found frames that fit perfectly! I got a pair that is very light weight and made in Korea. Fits my asian nose very well, so I don't need to keep pushing them up! My prescription was only for computer glasses, so he told me that it would be ready in an hour. Went to do my Sam's club/Walmart run and then went back to pick them up! He was so friendly, and said if I ever have any problems, please return and he'll be more than happy to help! Recommend to EVERYONE!!! You can park in the structure, grab a ticket from the attendant and they will validate at the shop. :) 30 minute validation. This is the best place to get glasses in Honolulu, possibly Oahu. Kenny, the man behind the counter, is very friendly and visibly loves his job. While I was waiting to get my own pair, I watched him help a middle-aged gentleman pick out new frames. Kenny was patient and helpful, suggesting all the pairs that could have matched that man's taste. Selection here is pretty good for men's frames and the women's selection looked decent at a glance. Customer comfort is a big thing here. They give free parking in the adjacent structure. The store has wifi, an electric water cooler (which makes dudes like me nerd out), and a big screen TV that plays animal footage, the type you'd see on National Geographic. Kenny G was on the speakers, according to Shazam. The light jazz was very comforting, it was like an eyeglass store inside of a hotel. It's hard to understate Kenny's enthusiasm. I noticed many optometrists and others who help with eyesight are passionate about their work and that's nice to see. Kenny happily answered my questions because he cared about serving his customers. I imagine this dude constantly thinks of ways to make himself better. When someone does something they love, there's an undeniable energy they radiate. The owner has a very good feeling about him and it's genuine. Since I don't have a nose bridge, I've had numerous sunglasses altered to put nose pieces on the inside of them! All Asians should put them on to help their glasses stay on. He can put them onto sunglasses that don't have any. And he replaced ones that I had that used to have them.
