Wonderful surprise to find this place while traveling through Birmingham on vacation. Burgers were terrific, our six year old loved her wings, and solid beer selection. Arcade was a lot of fun and definitely a flashback to childhood. Open air seating by windows was perfect. Root beer float topped it all off for desert. No surprise, this place is awesome. The folks that opened Paramount have already proven themselves in town with El Barrio and Trattoria Centrale. Paramount is so different, yet just as cool as its older siblings. The main room offers eclectic seating choices that surround the main bar. While hip, the room still has a sports theme to it. Not only are there plenty of TVs to watch games on, there is a lit up scoreboard on one of the walls. Even when crowded, there are tons of servers, so we never had to wait on a drink. We had a small group and ended up migrating to the game room. There is a bar there as well, but it's beer only. No big deal, because you can get a drink in the other room so fast. We ordered a handful of appetizers and they were all delicious. I think the wings and onion rings were my favorite. The games were fun and cheap. I'm a big fan of paramount. Living just around the block, this is one of my go to places. They offer it all, food, drinks, and they even have an arcade in the back room which has ski ball (my favorite). Sit at the bar, have a drink. The bartenders are so nice and attentive. Chelsea is my favorite bartender and has been at paramount for a long time, she will take good care of you! Food:The standard burger with fries is what I get just about every time here. Cooked medium unless specified. Onion, cheese, tomato, a pickle on the side, garlic aioli. The fries are similar to mcdonalds fries but better, small thin cut and cooked perfect every time. The wings, with barrio hot sauce....OMG they literally fall off the bone when you pick them up. Best wings I have ever had hands down! Drinks: They have a great selections of draft beers, and offer different sizes including pitcher. Tons of can, and bottle beers as well. They have a cocktail menu, I cant seem to remember one off the top of my head. I typically stick with beer here. They have great happy hour food and drink specials. Children are allowed until 9:00pm. I've been here many times as it was a hot, new place for a while when it first opened. Since then, I've moved away but was back for a visit this week. We decided to come here for dinner on a Sunday as it was convenient for everyone coming to eat. After a short wait, we were seated inside at one of the many open tables. The service was my main hit against this place. I'm unsure of the server's name but she was one of the most unfriendly people I've ever come in contact with at a restaurant. She approached the table the very first time asking for our drink and meal orders; no hi, how are you, can I get you a drink? Straight, rude and to the point. We weren't ready as we had just sat down so we asked for a couple of minutes to look and the eyeroll she gave us with quite obvious that she was annoyed. She returned 10 mins later and we ordered. She hastily left the table and another server delivered our drinks; we didn't see her again until our food was brought. She didn't come back until she asked us if we were ready for our checks; so much for up selling and offering us more alcoholic beverages to enjoy. We could easily see that she was very uninterested in serving us so we all decided to go spend our money elsewhere and where it was welcomed. I definitely won't be back here. Its a cool place because of the game concept but when you're treated like this - the games aren't even going to make me want to come back. read more

I knew this place was great, but it has been such a pleasant surprise discovering that they make one of the best burgers in town!!! No kidding, their burgers are DELICIOUS, and I'm far away from being a burger-lover. The only "weakness" here is that they have some very good bartenders, and some are just ok. I will preface this review by stating I have not really been on the game side, so this is pretty much just a restaurant review. Their menu is very interesting, but not in a bad way. There's just not a ton on it that catches my eye. That being said, they have no problem with letting you customize your order. I literally took components of all 3 of their hamburgers to make one that I wanted, and they were totally cool with that. Oh, and the burger was delicious, might I add. I personally think they should add it to their menu! The beer and mixed drink selection is quite good. The "Sorry I'm Late" drink is very yummy, but I didn't even have a slight buzz after drinking it on a very empy stomach. I was unsure of what beer I wanted, and our bartender Kyle was very handy with suggestions and samples. Stopped in for an early dinner with a girlfriend. Loved that I could sample any of the on draft beers. Settled on a sour - can't remember the name. We both decided on a cup of the seasonal beef chili and grilled cheese sandwich. I can see why people have been waiting on the chili to reappear on the menu. It's got plenty of flavor and nice chunks of beef. For me though the grilled cheese is where it was at!! It's loaded with cheddar, mozzarella, goat cheese and amazing tomato jam served on sourdough. This is a fun spot for quality food and video games! Came here on a rainy Sunday night, the 80's music playing was entertaining we completely forgot about the weather outside. The atmosphere, decor and vibe is full of cheerfulness. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, asked all the right questions to give food suggestions. There were 5 of us we tried all the different type of wings to share, the Jamaican jerk and lemon rosemary were the favorites of the table. The hamburgers were cook to perfection, delicious. The chicken salad made to perfection, light on the mayonnaise, all the ingredients were fresh and tasted oh so good. The chili hit the spot on a rainy cold night. Such an amazing place to grab delicious bar food and more! We came into town for a concert and saw great reviews for Paramount of Yelp. The reviews were spot on. We ordered the Jamaican Jerk wings, Lemon Pepper wings, fries, and onion rings. These were the best and I mean BEST wings we have ever had! Paramount is a great Birmingham experience. It's where I found out I'm great at Skee-Ball, and that I love dirty martinis with extra olives (the olives are massive here) - memories made! Paramount is great for small groups, but it is ALWAYS crowded, so I think more than three or four people would struggle to find seating here unless you came way early. There is a sizeable arcade in the back, so bring your change! There is a bar in the front and one in the back and several tables for seating I usually end up stalking back and forth waiting for someone to leave so I can take their seat. Paramount has a menu full of great drinks and appetizers. My favorites include a cocktail (the Ginger Avenger) that tastes like an upgraded Moscow Mule and the Great Balls of Fire - fried risotto, bacon, scallion, and cheese balls studded with jalapenos, and ranch on the side for dipping. I feel this review would be remiss if I did not address the famous Paramount Grilled Cheese (reputed to be the best in Alabama). I don't doubt it was because the night was so busy, but for a sandwich billed to contain "savory-tomato jam," my sandwich barely had any. It was also extremely burned on the side facing down, so I didn't notice it at first. Don't get me wrong - I ate the whole thing, and it was still really good. I will try it again, and if these wrongs are corrected, I will bump up my above rating. read more

So I finally tried the food here, and how have I not tried their food?!?! It was amazing!! I started off with an appetizer. The Great Balls of Fire was fried risotto balls with meat and jalapeño with ranch dressing for dipping. It was amazing and a great way to start off the meal. All the appetizers looked pretty yummy. I knew I needed something healthy now, so there I was straight for the salad. I got the So Simple. Oh my god!!! Best salad ever possibly?!?! I needed to learn how to make it yesterday!! It was that good. The base was mixed greens, with just hints of chicken that I probably wouldn't have even missed if it weren't there since the cheese, nuts, and vinaigrette were so so yummy. And I've always been a pro meat on salad eater. They have a game area in the back. Basketball, skee ball, arcade games, and my favorite...pinball! To drink I had the Not a Margarita. It was not a margarita, it was so much better! Something about it was fruity. I had to take off one star cause I ordered it without salt on the rim and it came on the rim. Paramount is the perfect downtown sports bar. They have TV's and bunch of games, and I actually really enjoy their food. They have a good selection of beer and I have enjoyed trying their cocktails. The 501 is my favorite. They have some of my favorite french fries and you can't go wrong with either burgers or dogs. We enjoy going here to relax, because it is easy and their is always a good crowd there and every one is having fun. They have a bunch of games in the back too. We really enjoy the old school pac-man and basketball free-throw games, but they have a lot more than that to choose from. We have been on all sorts of nights of the week and on the weekend and there is always a good crowd, but never so big that we can't play the games we want to play. I would say if you are looking for a more low-key type of bar with a laid back fun atmosphere Paramount is a good bet! If you want more of a speciality cocktail with a little bit of swakier vibe, try Tavern on 1st or Collin's Bar. But all in all Paramount is perfect what they are going for. read more

The Paramount bar is a great spot for good food and fun times. It's a little quirky, which is a nice break from the usual. We came on a Friday night for girls night out with a party of five at 6pm. We were seated quickly! They serve familiar foods like wings, burgers and hot dogs but with a little gourmet twist. The alcoholic drinks are delish! I had two different margaritas and was pleasantly surprised by both! The arcade was crowded with adults and kids but we made our way to the Simpson's game in the back. Omg! How fun!
