Parking was horrible and there was no help or accommodation from the staff. Before we were even seated, we waited way too long while multiple tables sat empty. The staff completely ignored us -- servers were literally sitting and eating while we stood there for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment. Once seated, things didn't get any better. The ceviche was honestly terrible -- not fresh, lacked flavor, and just disappointing. Everything else was extremely overpriced for small portions and average quality. Definitely not worth the money. The servers were rude and seemed like they didn't want to be there, let alone serve anyone. Overall, the experience was frustrating from the moment we arrived. I love this place. I went a few days ago and am just now leaving a review. I brought my furry pal along as well and we sat on the patio. I always order the lomo saltado but I decided to Try something new. I ordered the pescado a la plancha. It sounded amazing, only thing is the menu didn't mention that it contained calamari (squid) after having a few bites (which were amazing and tasty) I saw the calamari and freaked out . By this time I already had the tequenos for an appetizer ( wontons rolled like taquitos filled with cheese with avocado and tamarind dips on the side), so I was full, but I still knew I wanted my usual so I still ordered the lomo saltado to go. I didn't make a big fuss because it was my mess up for not asking what was all in the soup. We were greeted when we came in and were seated quickly for our reservation. Bolitas- these had a nice crisp but came out as if they were sitting for a while because they were super hot. The inside was ok, i was hoping the cheese taste was stronger. It wasn't super flavorful 6/10 Steak - was good, not great. The chimichurri was good just wish there was more. Cooked medium rare and came out perfectly 7/10 Lamb chops - good, lamby slightly over cooked but still flavorful and not dry. It was really only a small amount for $55. Not really worth it IMO. 8/10 Sautéed veggies - these were in a sauce rather than being sautéed, good but not what i was expecting. wow what a great Peruvian joint located so conveniently to us in Walnut Creek! The shop inside is themed superbly well and it seems like the workers are all family. We came here after a tired flight and craving flavors from home so we decided to take a stop. This place is by far better tasting than many Peruvian places we've been to! One of the best Lomo Saltados we have ever had. They definitely don't skimp out on the soy sauce and the meat is cooked super well. My only gripe is the portion is smaller than what I'm used to but it definitely makes up for it with quality and taste. The drinks are also super good and offer the right amount of sour to balance some of the salty foods. I was attracted to the vibe. I was on my way somewhere else and the live music got be doing a little shimmy in the street so I had to go back. Had a nice outdoor lunch experience here on Wednesday afternoon. We made quick and easy reservations online (they were not needed) and were seated outside immediately. It was a chilly afternoon so it was very nice that they had overhead heaters as well as free standing heaters in the outdoor dining areas. Street parking was easy and there was also a public garage nearby. The food was tasty but a tad over priced. My two friends and I shared every food item we ordered and we were slightly over full by the end of it. Hangover Soup - flavorful and good but missed the mark for me. Was a little underwhelming compared to some of the other items we got. Cebiche Trio - comes with the pescado which was my fave, the Chino Peruano which I also loved and the Mixto which was ok. Note that you have to purchase the chips separately to eat with the cebiche. Fried Plantains - I am a huge fan of plantains so this was one of my favorites. Perfectly sweet, not over fried or oily at all, nice touch with the cotija cheese and tamarindo sauce. Tequenos - I LOVED these wontons filled with Oaxaca cheese they were served with an avocado purée (guacamole) and tamarind sauce on the side. Empanada Sampler - Super glad we got this so we had a chance to try the four options. The Beef was best and Mushroom was a close second. Next time I'd just order these two. The chicken was ok and the corn/cheese was also ok but I wouldn't get it again. It lacked flavor and umph compared to the beef and the mushroom. Lomo Saltado - well seasoned beef and rice with veggies and fries. Decent size and easy to share. Alfajores Carlitos - we got one cookie to share as a part of the dessert sampler. It was good, soft, crumbly, sweet Suspiro a la limena - also good, the custard was very sweet, different than a dessert you'd get anywhere else so it is a must try Llamame Maria - this sweet dessert drink was an unusual order for me but I was glad I tried it. It is decadent and yummy but also strong and tasty Old Man Redemption - my friend ordered this and loved it. Sangria - was nice and refreshing, standard red wine sangria. Parada is a visit for the Empanadas alone. I took my girl a little date on Friday and we both had an amazing time. There a couple of hiccups but regardless, we still had a good experience. I do want to stress this before I tackle the negatives. Service was a little lacking in the sense of ordering. When me and my girlfriend got there we saw the empanadas on the menu and both of us new we had to try them! If there is one thing I will I will say, you gotta try the empanadas folks. Wait...I kinda already said that huh? I mean, you have to! How can you not want to taste fantabulous flakey treats? I also noticed that they sprinkle some kind of powdered substance on them. Theres no way it's powdered sugar... is it? Maybe its something else...Whatever it is, it's good. We ordered the sampler which comes with one kind each: Beef, Chicken, Cheese/Corn, and Mushroom. Our favorite was the Beef. The way they marinate the meat inside is ridiculous. Theres just some much depth in the flavor of the beef. And this is on top of all the other good flavors. Long story short, we had to order another round of empanadas. So we ordered Beef but somehow ended up getting Mushroom. Not the worst thing in the world but they were super apologetic and brought us out a new one 5 mins later. When we got it, I also asked our waiter for a Pisco Punch. Unfortunately I never got that cocktail. I think after them giving us the wrong order the first time, and him forgetting the 2nd time, I just lost the taste. Well no. That's actually only partly right. There was also the issue with the Paella's we had. I ordered the Seafood Paella and my girl ordered the Chicken. They were both just ok imo. These were very textbook with the classic recipe which is good and all but it just needed a little flavor. Even with the cilantro and onions that they top it off with, I just felt like with every bite it was lacking a little something. The food wasn't bad, just a little too subtle. Im not sure if it was lack of salt of saffron but that's just me. Also when you compare to other places making the same dish, Parada's prices are just a little bit higher than other places in the area and yet you get less. So theres that too. But on top of the Empanadas being bomb, their Rotisserie Chicken might single handily be the best rotisserie chicken in the East Bay. It's soooooooo good. And this is without even talking about the sauce it comes with. My girlfriend gave me some pieces of her chicken and I'm so glad she did. Oh and the cocktails? That have amazzzzing cocktails. I ordered a Pisco Sour early on and it was delish. My girls cocktail was pretty good too. So I think thats why when they forgot my 2nd cocktail, I was checked out. They messed up the first empanada order, gave us just ok Paella and then by the time I realized they forgot my 2nd cocktail I think I was just over it. The good thing is that the good actually did outweigh the bad. We might of had a shaky first expression with Parada but we can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu! read more

He had Pescado a la Macho ... creamy stew base with swordfish and variety of other seafood, served piping hot with side of long-grain rice topped with toasted coconut. The ceviche could have had a little bit more citrus. It was missing the extra flavor from citrus. The short ribs were so tender and I really like the bbq sauce that they were slathered in. The tequenos were unique and surprisingly more of a sweet option than a savory. The anticuchos chicken were seasoned very well and definitely still juicy. The anticuchos mushroom were underwhelming but it also tasted like something that my dad makes quick often so I would have opted to order something else if I knew. The last savory dish we got was the 1/2 pollo a la brasa. The fries it came with were so crispy and delicious. The chicken definitely need more flavor. For dessert, we got the alfajores were were a table favorite. The cookies were nice and flaky and the caramel kept it all together. My friend also had a 3-month old baby so we wanted to be careful and away from a pack of people. I called ahead to check if I needed reservations but the guy on the phone said we can just walk in. We were seated outdoors and tucked away from the others so that was great (especially since we have a baby in our company). This place is near the BART station so you can easily just reach it via public transit and literally walking distance from BART. There's also plenty of parking (2 hour street parking & public covered garage) if you wish to drive. Food overall tastes great. The first thing I asked for were fried plantains and sadly they didn't have any today so I was really disappointed. We opted for yucca fries instead, and ordered a few more entrees. I'll rank it here according to my faves: 1. Cebiche pescado - this was a crowd favorite among our group. Huge chunks of fish and pairs well with the house plantain chips. You can ask for more chips too! 2. Lomo Soltado - you'd think this was a normal beef tenderloin meal but no, something about the beef and it's tenderness & just the way it's flavored def takes the 2nd place for today's orders. 3. Langostinos Crocantes - these fried shrimp were okay, but my friends didn't like that the shrimp was slightly over cooked. It didn't wow me that much but it was good nonetheless. 4. Seafood paella - it was too saucy for me. Not sure if Peruvian paella is supposed to be like that. I kind of expected some parts to be crispy but it wasn't. It was somewhat lacking in flavor too. I don't think I'd pay $28 for it. There weren't a lot of seafood to begin with... 5. Sangria - it was fine. The color looks like Acai / grape juice type and a bit on the strong side. Not saying it tastes bad - I think I just prefer the pitcher I had in ChaChaCha. Honestly, it was overpriced. For all the stuff we ordered, it amounted to $150 (not including the tip). Yucca Fries were $10 for about 5 huge slices? Hmmm. Also, the waiter placed the Arroz con Pollo (chicken paella) on our table by mistake, and mind you - it looked appetizing! What a lovely dinner date! We started with drinks. I had the Old Men Redemption, which is a bourbon and red wine mixture. Smokey and rich. My wife had the sangria. Refreshing but without washing out the wine notes. Next came the ceviche appetizer, which was robust and savory with just the right amount of citrus. Perfect with the yucca chips. For entree I had the arroz mascada, which I fear I'm misspelling. I got it with chicken, not really understanding what I was ordering. Basically, it's paella without the seafood. Very full flavor with just enough spice burn to tingle the tongue, with clean tomato tang coming through. My wife went traditional with the Lomo saltado. Hearty, juicy chunks of steak in an absolutely on point mix for this traditional dish. The key through all of the things we ordered was balance. It was so close and so convenient and they even had two our parking garage free Then we went inside we came there kind of early. We noticed that it started filling up a little by little as we were eating our meal and pretty soon. There were just a lot of people really enjoying all the food. They had a beautiful salad that I ordered with a very unusual and delicious salad dressing and two types of corn. I also ordered empanadas. There were four different types of filling, chicken, mushroom, beef, and pork. All of them were delicious. We also ordered a ceviche dish very delicious very fresh.
