We have passed the turn off for the little town of Anthony a dozen times, but never made the turn. This week coming back from thanksgiving we whipped in there of a late breakfast. It was very clean and we were able to be seated right away. Joannie had a breakfast sandwich with sausage patty's that had just the right amount of heat. I had the two egg breakfast with poached eggs, home fries with onions and peppers, the same yummy sausage patty's and a HUGE home made biscuit. ordered 4 egg whites scrambled and was charged $16.00 for them. Ask to speak to someone regarding it as I've never paid that much in my young 55 years. The owner's son came out and said that's just the price they are. To top it off he was wearing a hat the said FUC* off on the front of it. Very unprofessional. Cute little down home family diner. Scrambled eggs were a bit over cooked however the pancakes were large and very good. Service was slow but wait staff very friendly. I would have rounded up to 5 but we were over charged for the small ceaser salad with grilled chicken. Per the menu small salad $5.00 and added chicken $3.50. We were charged $12.50! When I mentioned that he should honor the menu price. He apologized said they were changing the menus next week and still charged us the $12.50 anyway. That's just bad business.. read more

Our breakfast was very filling and tasted great. We had pancakes with eggs, a chicken and waffle and an oatmeal. our server was one of the sweetest people I have ever dealt with. The place was really cute and it was decorated for Christmas. I would not hesitate to stop back if we were in the area again. We were looking for a place to stop for breakfast on a Sunday as we drove home down 301 with a big RV trailering a car. Just a short jaunt off of main 301 is this gem. We were able to park across the street along the side of the road. It is clearly a local place and everyone there knows each other but we received great service and the food was amazing. My 9 year old who usually eats minimally in the morning housed her breakfast and half of mine. Country fried steak, Philly omelet and pancakes were all top tier. It was also extremely clean, well appointed and cozy. We always have a hard time finding places to stop and prefer local over a chain and I think this is our new go to! read more

My best friend and I stopped here between Ocala and Jax; we specifically took this route to try Papy's since it had pretty great reviews. It was okay - not bad/not great. We sat pretty fast and the place looks pretty cute. Our server got our drinks and we ordered a breakfast bowl and eggs/bacon/toast/home fries. The food came fast and it was okay. Eggs and toast were great. My bacon was so crispy that it crumbled on first bite and the home fries didn't really have any flavor. The thing that kind of sucked is we never got refills and she had her back to us while sitting at the bar and eating her food. I get being hungry and eating between tables, but just absolutely housing a full plate and sitting/ignoring tables was weird behavior. A different server cleared our table and brought our check. The only time our original server came back was to ask if we wanted refills as we were about to leave and pay. We really wanted to tip minimum, but we still tipped 20% despite lackluster service. read more

I looked at the excellent Yelp ratings for this place and just had to give it a go. Eight of us in my motorcycle group descended on Papy's about 8:45 in the morning. We were seated immediately. My Country Fried Steak with scrambled eggs and toast was delicious and delivered to me promptly. The other guys had a variety of entrees, and all were pleased. The restaurant and their restrooms were very clean and the decor was typical of the mom and pop diners found in rural Florida. The exterior was well maintained and the site parking was adequate. Papy's is now on our motorcycle group's list to return to in the near future. read more

Found Papy's on Yelp and it sure hit the spot. My family and I were staying a few days in Ocala and wanted to have a wholesome, hearty breakfast to start our day. The restaurant ambiance is simple and homy. It's funny because when we entered, the entire place stared at us like we were aliens. The place was filled by farmers, retirees and motorists, and we are latinos, so, whatever. Food was superb. I had the philly steak omelette, my companions had steak and eggs, veggie omelette, pancakes, biscuits. Oh ! All so good !!! Not cheap, have that in mind. But worth every penny. read more

What a gem of a little place! The service was great, and the waitress was friendly and we didn't feel rushed to order, or leave. The restaurant was clean and cute. I got the fried green tomato and pimento cheese sandwich on sourdough with sweet potato fries. Seemed like we waited a while for our order to get to us, but the food was well worth the wait! Everything was fresh and very tasty! My two friends ordered omelets and one, a club sandwich with fries. None of us had coffee, but the aroma of the coffee was so enticing we almost all had a cup, even the ones who don't typically drink coffee were tempted. Papy's Place is such a great find! Worth the drive into sleepy little Anthony. We will be going back! read more

We always noticed when we drove by that this little place was very busy. We finally tried it for breakfast. It is a quaint place that had great food and friendly service. It was very clean too. My daughter had chicken and waffles and my husband and I had omelettes. The biscuit was fluffy and the pancake was almost as big as the plate. Prices are very reasonable.
