Was passing through from Gainesville to Jacksonville and Yelp helped me find this little jewel. Street parking which was surprisingly easy to find. Was able to park right out front. Don't judge the place by its exterior. Walked in and is a very relaxed, roomy restaurant with table like many of us eat at in yesteryear at home. Country table I think they call it. Big black board on wall with specials. Very detailed menu also. Cell service is not existent inside but I did see and use the guest WiFi. Several ladies serving or taking orders so service was great. Menu is pretty extensive but I finally settled on the Reuben and went with the soup as a side. The Reuben was delicious. Not overloaded like some try to do it but also not lacking. Delicious!. Now I know soup when it is 80 outside but she sold it well. She also did not oversell it as it was as good as she said. Loaded potato with bacon and cheese and broccoli. Wow. Cleaned it all up and washed it down with some truly awesome sweet tea. read more

We discovered this little cafe in Starke a while back- we were coming home with our grandson and stopped for lunch and I instantly liked the cafe- they have a good size play area for little kids! Very family friendly & the service and food is stellar! This last visit was for breakfast and was fabulous and I took a slice of coffee cake to go and it was the best! The french toast was incredible- mine was the side serving and my son-in-law had the full size plate called the Plank- and it was! Great little restaurant and we will be back! read more

Four of us had a great lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. We had an AMAZING server named Stephanie. She was great! The food was delicious, I had the Rueben, yum! She had a grilled chicken salad with a medley of veggies on the side (she eats healthy enough for both of us LOL). She loved it. A cohorts had a smoothie and the maple bourbon sandwich which she loved as well. You've got to try this place, it's delicious. The prices are a little on the high side for this area but believe me, you get what you pay for here! There's lot's of space in the place, actually surprised they don't put in more tables. As they can easily fit them. Will definitely go back again even though it's out of the way for us. read more

What an amazing cafe here in historic downtown Starke! The food was awesome- I had the Green Monster breakfast bowl and my husband had the Corned Beef breakfast bowl. Both were so delicious (and we could do them with half grits and half home fries...which was an added bonus because I couldn't decide between the two choices!). The cafe was not busy when we arrived at but filled up quickly shortly after. Breakfast is now served all day which is new. We got the shrimp n grits and the apple, bacon, blue omelette. The shrimp was well seasoned in Cajun spices and the grits were a good texture and well flavored. The onions and green peppers on top were a nice an addition but I think they put them and all the oil they were cooked in on the grits which made them very oily which was odd. The omelette was good, the combo was great, but the apples in it could have been cooked a bit more and more blue cheese would have also been a win (but in all fairness, my friend is a cheese-aholic). The server asked us what side I wanted so I selected the fruit and my friend picked the sausage. I said I didn't think it came with one and the server said yes. When we received the check the sides were an extra cost! My fresh fruit was $5.50 and was a plate with 4 blueberries, 2 blackberries, 6 pieces of pineapple, 3 slices of apple, a small strawberry and about 8 green grapes. I would go there again but I would not get a side unless it says it's included on the menu or I am willing to pay the extra money. read more

We stopped at this adorable little cafe on our road trip with our baby and dog. We sat outside and enjoyed the most pleasant experience. The food was absolutely delicious - best BLT and potato salad that I've had, maybe ever! We also ordered an omelette that was very yummy. Out of all the breakfast restaurants in a wide area, this was the only one that had any fresh fruit or vegetables on the menu! So we went there! This local place was wide open with farm type tables and chairs, a kids nook play area, and a sofa with reading materials. We ordered breakfast and lunch. 30 minutes to get a wrap and salad. Relatively busy but seemed understaffed. Wrap was missing the avocado, spinach and romaine but a ton of mixed greens and very little chicken. The salad was loaded with onions, no spinach and a weird wet "pita" bread with spicy red pepper hummus not noted on menu. Since I can't eat peppers, server offered to have them make something else but we couldn't wait so I kind of ate around it and still paid full price. Since we weren't happy, server didn't offer us a water refill and handed us off to a rude server who couldn't bother to thank us and slapped down our credit card. They cut the bread down the whole length of the loaf, griddle it up, and top it with a healthy portion of cinnamon butter and warm maple syrup. It's comes with 2 eggs and choice of side. Service was phenomenal but our meals weren't that impressive. I got the pancakes with scrambled eggs and the ham steak. Pancakes tasted funny and I'm not sure what kind of syrup it was but it was cloudy and not tasty. My eggs tasted like they were scrambled in old oil. My husband had the breakfast special which was in French toast with ham, eggs and cheese. It was, according to him, average. The side of home fries were awful. My daughter had the breakfast panini. My daughter picked at it but it was dripping in mayo. Which made it rather unappealing. We were not terribly impressed and we enjoyed the vibe and waitress so much that I almost didn't write a review. But I take this responsibility seriously. We were underwhelmed. We stopped at this little local establishment on our way north. My husband enjoyed the Reuben sandwich so much that we've stopped again on our way south. I had a great Cobb salad, fresh, crisp and delicious. It came in a full and half size. I took the half size and also had a cup of chicken and rice soup which was also homemade. my husband ordered the Ruben again and it was as good as he remembered from our first visit.
