Love the chicken paprikash!!! So creamy and dumplings chewy, delish!

My husband had everything from appetizers to dessert and loved it! The pierogis were AMAZING! My husband said next time we go there he'd order more pierogis. The cabbage and noodles appetizer was nice, it reminded me of really good comfort food. For dinner we had the beef paprika, my husband said the beef was very tender. I had the Lecho a vegetarian dish of peppers and tomatoes over homemade dumplings. It was excellent as well. We had so much food we're both bringing home leftovers. We managed to find room for dessert and we ordered an apricot crepe dusted with powdered sugar, yummy!! The service was friendly and welcoming and despite the reviews saying the wait time was long we did not experience a wait for food at all! We were in and out In 45 minutes. The dining room was nearly full when we got there at 6pm. Also it is BYOB. We will definitely return! read more

Great food fair pricing Large portions will return for sure Stuffed Cabbage was excellent as was my Boneless Pork Chops Only complaint was food could have been hotter Cabbage was somewhat warm at best with little sauce for the size of the serving.all and all a return trip is in order read more

Authentic Hungarian food, great taste and large portions! Family run, great service! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the ambiance could be better but this is truly as good as it gets for hungarian food! read more

I often come here for the chicken paprika's it's delicious! It's some of a kind dish you wouldn't find anywhere else!

This rest is awesome!! Tdy is the first time I try Hungarian food and I fall in love with it. The service is great!!! Waiter is very friendly. Will definitely go back again!!!! read more

Great food! I would have given 5 stars but it seems they run out of some stuff on the menu. For example an item they run out of is stuffed cabbage. Overall I think the food is very good and will I will be going back. read more

Excellent Mom and Pop restaurant! I had the Noodles and Pork Chops. It was fantastic. Huge portions. It tasted just like my Hungarian Grandmother made it. I also had their homemade potato soup. It was so good I asked if I could bring a quart of it home!. My husband had the stuffed cabbage. Rarely does he leave a restaurant without eating dessert. He had two huge stuffed peppers and was stuffed as well. The staff were very friendly. A definite on going back. read more

Looking for great comfort food - this is the place!! Never disappoints

Love the food!!!! It is hard to find good Hungarian food, but this place is excellent. The dining room could be updated a tad, but it is clean which is a +. The server is very friendly and funny! I would eat there weekly (if I lived closer). This is also a byob - love that!!!! read more

We went to Paprikas last night like looking for authentic Hungarian food. I ordered the goulash. It was the worst meal I've had in over a decade. It was made from pork. Real goulash is made with beef. I checked online to confirm that it truly is a beef dish. I couldn't eat my meal as it was just terrible. I had crepes for dessert. They were excellent. read more

Wow! It was like a trip back in time to my grandpa's house!! Don't let the exterior fool you, there is super delicious Hungarian food waiting for you here! Took mom here for lunch. She has wanted to come ever since I discovered that it existed. We both got the chicken paprikash with the chicken legs. A large portion of food came out quickly and the fun began. From first bite, it brought us both so many memories of our grandfather and how he made his paprikash, handmade dumpling noodles included! The gentleman there who served us was also pleasant and freindly. Overall, an amazing experience. We can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Bottom line: if you love Hungarian food, this is the place. If you've been wanting to TRY Hungarian food, yhis is the place! read more

Just a friendly, humble, straight forward family restaurant in Hellertown. But, oh how wonderful the food is!! They stay true to Hungarian cuisine and, they keep the menu simple. I have had a number of their offerings over the years and all were wonderful. read more

As a fellow Hellertown small business owner I am happy to frequent other businesses in Hellertown and after eating at Paprikas a few years ago I find it hard to go anywhere else since. The waitstaff is always super-friendly and even Frank (the owner) comes out of the kitchen during a lull to chat regularly. I've eating more than half the things on the menu by now, but always fall back to either the wonderful beef or chicken paprikas. I've also never left hungry! The portions are enough to take home for another meal tomorrow. And I have... The atmosphere is family friendly, authentic Hungarian and quaint. The BYOB is a great feature during dinner and the crepes (and sometimes kiffles!) for dessert finish the meal off perfectly. I highly recommend this fine establishment. read more

Even though my last name is Irish, my mother was Hungarian and I was raised with Hungarian food all around me. I miss it so. Paprikas has food like mom used to make! That's why I go time after time! read more

I am Hungarian, and I love Hungarian food. If that's what your looking for, then go to Paprikas. Every time I go there I get the Chicken Paprikash. It is my absolute favorite. I think over the years we have had everything on the menu, and never a complaint. How can you beat authentic Crepes for dessert. read more

What a great find. It was pouring out, we got seated right away. Waiter/owner was friendly and funny. I felt like I was eating at my grandparents house. Food was excellent. read more

Omg. So good. The reviews said to try the chicken paprikash, it was the best I ever had. The haluski was great. The cucumber salad excellent and the crepes were amazing. Go! read more

I liked this family ran place, but the selections of veggies & apps. could be a bit larger. My wife really loved the cucumbers & cream but not the pierogies (too bland). I liked the soup but she didn't. We have had better paprika chicken at other Hungarian restaurants too. Here is the winner though and a great reason to come back. They had great pork chops. Breaded nicely and very tasty. I also enjoyed the cabbage noodles. The crepes were great. We had the warm rasberry. We will be back as I want more pork chops and she really wants to try the meatballs. Very nice people running this place. read more

You want real Hungarian food in eastern Pennsylvania? Well, this is about as close to Budapest as you'll get. Paprika's is one of the only ethnic restaurants left in the Lehigh Valley, and thank heaven they're still around. Chicken Paprikash, Hungarian Goulash, Halupki, Cucumbers and Sour Cream...They lovingly make traditional Hungarian fare...It's big portions, good taste, and no frills. The walls need paint, the lights could be brighter...blah blah...who cares about the decor. The kitchen is clean, the food is great, and the family in charge is from Hungary. What's better than that?? I would suggest it to anyone traveling through the Lehigh Valley, easy to get to on main street in Hellertown off 78, and for any local with "ethnic" ties. Polish? Slovak? Slovenian? You'll love the place. It's like grandma's kitchen all over again. read more

Delicious food. We try to get there every chance we get. The chicken paprikas is out of this world! Better than what we ate in Budapest!

The staff is friendly however it does get busy at times. The food is good. I think the place needs a makeover! Parking is poor.

A nice authentic hungarian food restaurant. Always great service, good food, and great prices.

This restaurant has a very offensive odor. This may be coming from butcher shop underneath. Service was friendly but couldn't make up for the stench. Portions were very large but food was VERY bland. Would never eat there again. Decor is very old and not very clean. read more

My husband and I LOVE Paprika's. The restaurant itself is simple and clean. Owners are super friendly and attentive. In regards to the food, the food is amazing Hungarian comfort food. My favorite dish is the Beef Paprikash and my husband loves their Stuffed Cabbage. The portions are pretty big; we always have leftovers. I love going to this place and we are always satisfied with each visit. read more

first and last time i went here was probably two years ago, it was just me and my friend, she wanted to try it for the first time also first , we were waiting to be seated for about 10 mins which we were the ONLY customers there, when we started to order the food, the waiter (i think he is probably the owner's son) rudely laughed at me because i didn't pronounce a certain word on the menu the correct way i guess me and my friend were gonna walked out right away but we decided to just try the food , it was ok/good i just never returned because the waiter was very rude , if he isn't the owner's son and just working off tips then he should rethink before his actions read more

I took friends from NYC tinight after telling them it was one of my favorite casual dining locations. They both loved it too!! Husband loved the 2 large pork chops and the wife had chicken paprikas that she liked also... they bothe enjoyed the crepe dessert. They are ready to go again soon. btw... Leftovers for lunch tomorrow!! read more

I visited Saturday 5/18/2013 with friends and family had to wait 45 minutes for our meal of chicken paprikash. The waitress said, they ran out of noodles Friday and had to make more. The question why don't they come in to prepare the food before opening at 12:00 noon. The wait was awful no salad; lunch menu and just rolls. Then it was very watery and not that good. I visited this before and the dinner was delicous but not it has alot to be desired. Sorry, this just didnot cut it, this time and the chicken was hardly and chicken pieces and not that tasty, besides. I probably won't go there again. Who ever cooks, need a new cook.... read more

food was ok but the owner and his wife are very rude and very unhelpful.. never going back

I have eaten here MANY times. I really do like the food but always feel like the portions aren't big enough, so I'm surprised by some of the comments saying how big the portions are here. I always feel like we need to order 3 dinners for 2 adults. All of the food is homemade, tasty Hungarian food. If we arrived early, sometimes we are told a particular dish isn't ready yet. If we go later, they run out of certain dishes. Not having dishes ready and running out of other dishes on a regular basis is a turn off as a paying customer. The restaurant is a no frills simple type of restaurant. I think they could do something to liven the place up a bit. The staff is just ok, nothing outstanding. I do enjoy the crepes for dessert. It's a dish you can't find anywhere else. I'd love to give this little restaurant 5 stars because I do like the food, but, at the same time I always get annoyed at the portion sizes, running out of dishes, and not having other dishes ready. It's a continual pattern, so I can't give it 5 stars. read more
