    Chicken Paprikas and pierogies
    Jenae H.

The owner was busting his butt and having fun even though I'm sure it was a long day. The place was packed and we did have to wait about 15 minutes for a table but we used the time to take in the authentic decor and spy on people's dishes as they were served. For someone like me who has difficulty choosing from a menu, this was a good spot because the offerings were pretty straightforward and all looked amazing. We started with the pierogies which likely are not made insight but he said were handmade somewhere. I wouldn't get them again. They were pretty standard and not with the $$ we paid. Although there was an abundance of sour cream on the side. I had the chicken paprikas as my main dish, as did a friend. It was plentiful but needed salt, in my opinion, as I love things a bit salty. Loved the texture of the homemade noodles. My husband had the stuffed cabbage and it was also plentiful, as others have described. Very hearty! The crepes were tasty - go for the apricot! Probably the most flavorful part of the night! It's a neat spot to try and the owner was fun!

Been wanting to go to this place for a while but they were on vacation for a lot of August. Finally was able to stop by and was not disappointed. I got the stuffed cabbage and my partner got the chicken paprikash. Both were delicious, good portions and the service was great. We will definitely be back.

Very good meal. Had the breaded pork chop and it was outstanding. Crepe was okay and service was good. Place isn't fancy at all. Will go back for another pork chop in the future.

    Hungarian Goulash & Chicken Paprikas

Never had Hungarian food so was really excited and asked a Hungarian friend for recommendations on what I should try. However, was very underwhelmed and felt most of the food was very bland. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out and nothing felt like I would crave and need to come back for. Cabbage noodles - bowtie noodles, kind of bland Goulash - pork was really tender which was great, it tasted like a beef stew but a very typical mediocre beef stew Chicken paprikas - enjoyed but not very flavorful. the pasta looks like cauliflower and is unique, but the sauce was nothing special Plum palacsinta - too thick for my liking it tasted like a pancake wrapped in some jam, the jam was good but too thick of a crepe Only did take out and the staff was friendly. Inside looked like a classic older restaurant with booths. Will need to try other Hungarian food for comparison since I have no baseline. Nothing was bad, but wasn't impressed.

My wife and I came here on a snowy Saturday night. We have always wanted to come here as she used to eat homemade Hungarian food growing up. The restaurant is simple, is BYOB, and has a cozy feel to it. There was one waiter who was also the host. He was very friendly. The food was fantastic! We had the pierogis that tasted homemade and they were huge. I had breaded pork chops with Hungarian noodles, which had bacon and cottage cheese. My wife had chicken paprikash, which is chicken in a sour cream sauce with Nokedli (egg noodles). We ended with palatschinke, which are similar to crepes but not as sweet. Nothing was overly salty. It wasn't busy and we sat immediately but apparently they get super busy on a Saturday night. We will definitely come here again.

Was in the area and decided to try something different. Never had Hungarian cuisine. Pierogi were good. Didn't expect them to be fried but it's good. They were bigger than the Polish version. These are stuffed with potato. Hungarian Gypsy Pork was delicious. The garlicky Pork Chops were so good. Mash Potatoes were just Mash Potatoes but we took the left over sour cream from the Pierogi and it just took the Mash to the next level hehehe Hungarian Goulash is delicious. I've had Goulash from diners and other restaurants but never the original Hungarian style. It's so much better! Arthur, our server was so fast, zipping around the restaurant like a busy bee. He was funny sarcastic .

Our first night here at Bethlehem, PA and my wife found this Hungarian place on Yelp and also close to our hotel. Walking in, the decor is nothing to boast about as its tables and booths are similar to a diner setting. But that doesn't matter as it comes down to the food. My wife ordered the stuffed cabbage which she thought was just alright. My son ordered the meatloaf and we could have sworn it looked and resembled more like their fried meatball dish. He didn't enjoy it one bit as it was too fried and the mash potatoes that came with it was dry and bland. For starter, he had the pierogis which looked homemade and tasted yummy. I myself had the breaded pork chops which came with cabbage noodles and string beans. I loved my dish whereas my wife and son did not completely enjoy theirs. They served salad and soup to start and the only complaint we had about that was their soup was lukewarm despite it being very flavorful. The other discouraging thing was the long wait. It took a very long time to get our order in and for the food to come out. I will confess that the owner has a great personality and very down to earth to chat with. Also, this is a BYOB place. Otherwise sadly to say, there are just too many misses to give this place a stellar recommendation.

I was nearby for work and checked yelp for Hungarian food and this was the first suggestion and it had good reviews so of course I had to give it a try. The place is small. Service was friendly. I originally wanted pierogi, however, they fry theirs and I prefer mine sautéed. So I ordered the chicken paprikas with white meat and a Diet Coke. The meal came with soup and bread. The soup was chicken noodle with veggies. It was good, definitely homemade. I'm currently not eating bread, but, The bread was kinda hard and the butter was too hard to spread. The Paprikas was delicious! A little watery but had a good flavor and decent amount of chicken. It was served over perfectly cooked spaetzle. The price was fair for what I got. The only reason I took off a star was the cleanliness. The bread basket wasn't clean. Good thing I am not eating bread. And neither was one of the sets of silverware on the table. That said, I would still eat here again if I was in the area.

They make absolutely great chicken paprikas....for takeout! The restaurant has not been renovated in years and it truly lacks ambiance.

A small variety of Hungarian dishes, which are somewhat authentic. Even so they're enjoyable and abundant.

I was looking forward to "the Hungarian sausage master" Jozsef Hirs' brief return to the Hungarian Christmas Market in New Brunswick NJ earlier this December, but due to their popularity and loyal area fan base (not only was there a long line throughout the day, as they were by FAR the most popular merchant, but I'm told a line had already formed a half hour before the market even opened!), the products we came for - I live for their applewood smoked bacon - were unfortunately already sold out by early afternoon. We had to be content with another type of bacon and some semi-dried salami. Anyway, Florida, enjoy your traditional home-crafted pork products and kolbász. The Garden State's loss is the Sunshine State's gain! They do still deliver nationwide, however, and may make the occasional special appearance back up the east coast, so watch this space.

It is so great to know that Sebastian's is our new place for delicious German food. Dinner for the 3 was roughly $180.00, but before you say "that's a lot", the food is delicious, the wait staff is amazing and both my husband and I gladly pay good money for fantastic food, like what we had here at Sebastian's.
