I had lunch at the bar Paola was my bartender and she made a great margarita on the rocks. The queso with ground beef was excellent. It had heat but it had an abundance of flavor! Get the medium and have the traps beef added! If yours is like mine your mouth will be in heaven! I tried the Blood Orange Mezcalita. It has an excellent presentation, but for me it had a foul taste I couldn't identify. According to the menu and bartender they make a blood orange syrup and that could be the problem. I've had blood orange drinks before including martinis and they were phenomenal so I think the issue with this particular drink lies in the construction meaning the ingredients that they used. The island time lived up to its name. It had such a tropical taste with passionfruit papaya syrup, lemon juice, and says San Pellegrino peach and Clementine sparkling water. Very disappointed in the change in my favorite dessert. I have always come to pappasitos mainly for the cajetas dessert. It was a pecan/ coconut crusted dessert. Now they have changed this to be lots of chocolate crunch and greatly reduced the pecans/coconut. Im so sad because this used to be the best dessert in the world... it just tastes like gross candy now and I am so sad about it. read more

I went here the night of the NCAA Football Championship and ordered a lb of the Steak Fajitas with double rice and corn tortillas, bc Pappasito's and Lupe T are my all time favorite places for beef fajitas. On a note, the Camerones Diablo here is possibly the best shrimp dish I ever had along with the stuffed shrimp from Pappadeaux. The meat was very well-seasoned, tender, juicy and charbroiled in taste too with no flaws. Very delicious and consistent all the way through. The rice was warm, doughy, mild but tasty and comforting. The guac n pico were cool, homemade and refreshing. The tortillas were very fresh and good. The service was very friendly, fast and efficient. I was extremely pleased in every way and can't wait to dine in again in coming months. read more

We were excited for some Tex-Mex and everyone we spoke to raved about Pappasito's Cantina so we wanted to check it out. The restaurant is beautiful and colorfully decorated. The atmosphere was on point and lively and the service was wonderful. We enjoyed the warm chips and fire roasted salsa and drinks while we waited for our food to come out. We both ordered a combination plate to try a little bit of everything but were disappointed in the food. We found the rice and beans bland and the enchiladas too spicy for our liking. I wish I would have ordered the fajitas or other grilled items because those were absolutely delicious. While it was a great experience overall, the food was not what we were expecting. read more

This is a past due review! I came through on Cinco de Mayo and the place was jumping! Parking was decent despite the large crowd. There was a mariachi band it was loud which was to be expected and decorated to meet the occasion! I had managed to make a res so we were promptly seated when we arrived. Pappasitos is a well oiled machine because again it was jumping in there packed and with a line of people waiting to be seated and we had prompt and efficient service. Interesting though but now you have to request the green sauce and there is a fee associated with it. Also it doesn't taste as good. But any rate the red salsa is still very very good. I ordered fish tacos and the Cinco de Mayo margarita! It was bomb and you got a special Cinco de Mayo glass with your order. We also ordered the guac it was just okay butttt. Such an amazing time! I went here for lunch with my mom and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. Coming from working in the restaurant industry I can understand how the environment can be stressful. So the only thing I will say that was negative is that our busboy/buswoman didn't clean our table and chairs thoroughly. Besides that we had an amazing experience. Food was fresh and hot. I came to Houston recently and visited Pappasito's for the first time. The overall atmosphere was lively and the restaurant was huge. I ordered their gauc and beef, shrimp, and quail fajitas. The guac was made fresh with avocado chunks in the guac. It was so creamy and went great with the thick tortilla chips provided. The fajitas were also amazing. All of the meat and seafood was grilled to perfection but still juicy and tender. The service was fast as well! The only downside was the price- I paid almost $45 with tip and the guac was not covered on my tab. I look forward to coming back the next time I am in Houston! read more

We came here before a Texans game. I was surprised they allowed us to make a reservation a few hours before kickoff. The place was packed, yet they still managed to the reservations perfectly. Their service was great as well. Very friendly, attentive and fast. They start you off with chips & salsa, and we ordered some frozen margaritas and Queso as well. Off to a nice start. The queso was really good and the margaritas were tasty. We also ordered their large Beef & Chicken Fajitas. These were also very good and very filling. The fajitas came with a side of rice, beans, tortillas, guacamole and pico de gallo. They also asked us if we wanted, cheese and sour cream, but we declined. We didn't care for it at our last place so didn't need it here. Everything was so delicious. Both meats were very juicy, tender and flavorful. This Pappasito's is the worst one and we have been to 5 of them plus the Little Pappasito's near Rice. This Kirby location near NRG should be avoided if possible. Arrived on March 11th at 3:30pm. Example: Sat at the bar, got ignored for 10 mins, finally the rude bartender Victoria (what receipt says, she didn't have a name tag on, she had long extensions past her bottom), throws some chips/salsa at us without saying anything & continued to ignore us never asking us anything. Finally, we flagged down Tori ( very helpful) for drinks & to order. Other rude stories, but not enough room here. Go to I10 & beltway location where they have outstanding bartenders & waiters. 0.5 rating for Kirby location. read more

this was the HH spot for me around 10 years ago and nothing stays the same, sometimes for the best or not. Happy hour starts at 3pm and no longer has the wave margarita or sangria on it. Also the bartender said something about beers not being on it? So I ordered the lunch mixed fajitas that in no way is a lunch price lol but hey the taste is the same yay! So we made a reservation here around Rodeo season. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was actually places to park. I love that I was seeing security walking around the parking lot. Getting there was rough though and I had to make a turn under the freeway. My advise is to get into the left turning lane instead of the turn lane. It's faster during rodeo season. The food and the drinks are good. I had a tiki timeout and a chicken quesadilla. They gave us chips and salsa while we decided on for and drinks. I love this place bc it's close to the med center. Clearly a good restaurant, but prices are out of control. That maybe just me but these prices were exorbitant. Chips were great. Been here several times ( and other locations) they are proud of their food and drink. Price per individual can be north of $50. Don't get me wrong the food is good, service was largely satisfactory to good. It's a Tex mex standard for some. The ambiance is noisy. At times it's hard to hear inside even early in the evening. Not much as far as pictures, just one large room with the only pictures to speak of in the bathrooms which haven't changed in years. It painted in festive yellows and reds. Somewhat limited in outside seating, but that's far better in terms of the noise factor. The tables are small but colorful to the backdown and chairs are comfortable. The only TVs are in the bar area. Some seats are not good to see the game. But then you're not going to ]Buffalo Wild Wings. There is full bar, catering mostly to Margaritas and concoctions close to Margaritas. The chips are some of the best. Very thin and structurally able to carry Salas, lots of Salas. Salas good but not my favorite. It does work as an appetizer as you wait for the queso. Queso is at best good. Nothing to write home to Mom about. I'm not complaining, but this is not the dish to get for spicy. Some of the recent menu selection try to spicy-up the visual food presentation with meat hanging from 10" hooks and parties cutting off meat. The waiters carry this through the establishment. Wows the customers. Service is good and most of the service persons are familiar with the menu which help guide the uneducated. If you're looking for spice it's not here. Heat and capasacin are not here. They don't know of the Scoville scale, much less climb it. At best you will get mild jalapeños. No Serranos and they would not know what to do with a habanero.. For Tex mex this scores a solid 4 stars in my book, lots of good points, many restaurant duties done well, but no real brilliance. I would certainly take a northerner here without qualms, but a real pepper fan- this would be a trip to boredom. read more

I almost ate a whole basket of chips alone. Margaritas are strong. You need only one. Food was amazing. Service was a little slow. It was because our server had our party and several other tables. It looked super busy outside, so I was a little nervous when I walked inside, but thank goodness it looks like the bar was clearing out. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the bartender, John, he was super laid-back and didn't make me feel pressured to order right away. A few minutes went by, I hadn't decided what I wanted to drink, so I walked over to the bathroom, when I came back, I ordered my meal with bartenderJared, I got the lamb chops meal and a side of beef fajita to make tacos. And then I got the watermelon frozen margarita. John made my drink, Jared took my food order. We came for a friend's birthday. While the location is great, there were many issues with our service; 1. My friend ordered an espresso martini which had no flavor or taste of alcohol. She then ordered an iced coffee with a shot of Kahlua. The coffee was dark, yet the waitress claimed that the shot was already added, and that it's not a milky color because it's Kahlua, not Bailey's. My friend then had to order another shot of Kahlua. Surprise surprise- her drink turned from dark to milky brown 2. I ordered the chipotle shrimp. My order came with missing beans. I made this clear to the waitress who seemed in disbelief, even though it was obvious that there were no beans on my plate. By the time I finally got the beans, most of my meal was gone (it took FOREVER). - I also ordered a FlaMango Mango which didn't taste of any alcohol either. Overall, the only good thing about this spot was the company I was with. We were a large group, and it was quite disappointing to have such an experience. Most of us have our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant, and Pappasito's is one of my favorites. It seems like every time I place an order to go is a Lovely smile at the register name Alicia. She is very very nice and really seem to enjoy her job. What really stands out about her is that she will keep you updated on your order and make sure that you are comfortable while waiting on your order. My food is always good. I really love the tamales made from scratch, corn tortilla and flour tortillas. The service at this location wasn't the best. The service started off right the waitress was nice but had to return our drinks 4 times. The soda machine needs to be clean and filters need to be changed. The soda taste horrible and when we advised the manager said "I tasted it and it was fine to me". We searched restaurants nearest to our hotel, first and then by the menu and Pappasito's Cantina had the best menu, images and food combinations. We ordered a family platter that had shrimp, lamb, chicken and grilled beef. It came with Charro beans, Rice, guacamole and pico de gallo. And everything was absolutely delicious. We were able to take two to go bags of food. The birthday girl was celebrated and was she was very pleased with her tres leches cake. We all walked out very happy. The food was good, but service lacked. Pulled up and was told the wait was 20 minutes. It only took 10. Upon getting to our table we asked to sit at a booth, but our guide was too scared to ask if we could sit in it. I'm not sure why he was scared, but we preferred the booth seat. After being seated, our waiter took approximately 16 minutes to ever even address us and when she did she stated she would be back, then took another 10 minutes. I tried to order a kids meal because I don't eat much, but they would not allow it because I'm an adult, and I normally order it Togo and get it. Waiter said she'd charge me the lunch special only to find out she couldn't and had her manager come over to explain. I didn't ask her to do that and it was awkward when her manager even came over like I asked in the first place. After getting our complimentary chips and salsa, the chips were so little you could barely pick them up or dip in salsa as seen in my images. It's like they gave us the bottom of the barrel. When the food came, it didn't come like I ordered it. Instead of getting double rice, I got beans and rice. I didn't receive my melted butter or cheese and of course I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my waiter to acknowledge that as my food was getting cold. Grande Margarita was $20 and I didn't even get tipsy. As we were leaving she only brought us one salsa to go when there were clearly 2 of us. I guess she expected us to share.
