Vast improvement over the old food court at Grand Ave mall. Or whatever they're calling it these…read moredays. It's so lively, busy and full of life. A HUGE change from when I frequented the place in 2020 and prior. There were activity areas, games, a plethora of restaurants to choose from. The seating was limited on the first floor, though I didn't venture around as much as I would have liked. The restrooms are located just outside the dining hall area and were extremely clean and well maintained. I've already reviewed one of the food spots but there were so many to choose from as well as many that had bar service. Again, I can't stress enough how much of a difference it was to see the place being enjoyed once again. I'm definitely going to revisit at some point because I saw three or four restaurants I'd love to try out. And it's not a far walk from the Museum or Baird center, so no need to pay for parking twice.

There was a bit of door dashing orders happening but not much in house at all. The good news for us was that there were no lines and we easily found a table. They still have 5 or so vendors though some have changed since the last time I was in. We were there to stop by Tangled Noodles (which was good!) but I noticed a shawarma spot as well that I'm hoping to stop by soon. The dining room was impeccably clean with both low and high seating. Still a nice little spot but wondering if delivery and takeout are keeping them afloat--or maybe it was just the Friday evening timing?

I was disappointed to see that some stores had relocated, but I was happy to see a lot of familiar stores prospering. I have always enjoyed ambience and aromas while walking the main corridor. The entire mall is blessed with staff that is very Wisconsin friendly. All were helpful in helping our small group find and direct us to the appropriate stores to make our purchases. We needed some special products and because of their help we were able to locate them. As we walked in the main corridor staff members were saying hello and giving out samples, including food and fragrances. The mall staff/security were very helpful also. We were trying to find the best place to stand to get public transportation. He not only told us, but he took us there and stayed with us until public transportation arrived. He was the perfect representative for Southridge Mall! Great stores such as Macy's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Starbucks, Mrs Fields, Cinnabon, Foot locker, Claire's, JCPenney and many others are all located at this mall. They're undergoing renovation but it is worth a trip. Easy parking in the front or behind for those that decide to drive. Public transportation from buses to trains have stops located near entrances. I hope new stores will find their way to this location.

The Avenue has a lot of history behind it, once the only major indoor shopping facility in Milwaukee proper and the one time largest food court in Wisconsin, its great to see the thoughtful re-vamp of a historic part of Milwaukee. The newly re-branded Avenue is considered a shopping center, shared office space, and apartment building. While there are few retail stores, and plans for one or two more, it is not really a shopping center. Just on the other side of the building is a bustling food court wit many great options from local vendors. The many retail stores at one point have been converted to apartments, a creative way of keeping the historic look of the mall space. The space continues to have more potential and its great to see the history that still remains.

The outer-facing stores, the food court, and of course the dedicated mall walkers seem to be what keep the space active. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the Saturday farmers market. It's definitely a great reason to visit during the winter months. There were lots of food and craft vendors, and it brought some much-needed energy and community feel back into the mall.
