I rarely go to the mall these days, and Brookfield Square feels a bit like a ghost town with so many closed shops. There are only a handful of stores left inside, like JCPenney. The outer-facing stores, the food court, and of course the dedicated mall walkers seem to be what keep the space active. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the Saturday farmers market. It's definitely a great reason to visit during the winter months. There were lots of food and craft vendors, and it brought some much-needed energy and community feel back into the mall. read more

Second week of operation (06/06/26) and they call this a farmers market. Roughly 10 vendors that are Non-Farm related. Plus they are scheduled on Saturday's during prime outdoor farmers market hours. Boo, I used to love shopping here now 3/4 of the stores are vacant. No stores, very few customers walking around. We did speak to some shopowners who were there who stated the plan is to build a Public Market, similar to the one downtown. That would be awesome. The mall is more than half empty. Several stores that are still in existence are not open at 10 am on Monday. SO sad. The bathroom was not clean and no TP in many stalls. There are very few options in the food court. The stores that ARE open are good and worth the trip if you know what you need here is still available. There are several well known restaurants on the outside. A movie tavern is inside. It seems with the conference center, hotels and condos close by, the mall needs to be reimagined for today's market. read more

It's a shame that malls are going away, this was one of the places I would go to in high school and spend most of the day here. There isnt too many stores left, and there are a lot of empty stores. The interior is a little dated, understandable since people aren't putting money into it. I don't particularly love any malls (just not really a mall person) but this one has the least amount of frustrations than any mall I've been too. Is it small? Yes. Is that one of the reasons I love it? Also, yes. Parking is a breeze, there are plenty of eateries in and around Brookfield Square Mall (Flemings, Red Robin, Naf Naf, and more), and it's never very crowded. I've not been but they have what appears to be a pretty cool tavern cinema as well. Most of the time when I visit any mall, I'm likely looking for a solid department store (check! They have JC Penney which is aok with me), Bath & Body (also check!), and Barnes & Noble (check, check, check!). If you also look for these sorts of stores without the crowds and crazy parking of Mayfair--then this is your spot. Get to it! read more

I really like Brookfield Square. It has some nice stores and good restaurants. Parking is usually easy to find and the walk is nice. The construction lately has been difficult but overall it is worth going to if you are looking for something in the mall. I really enjoy the Barnes and Noble, Cooper's Hawk or many of the other nice restaurants in the area. Inside there are a variety of clothing stores and other things to find to shop. Overall as far as malls go this is a good one for shopping and retail. read more

I hadn't been to Brookfield Square for several months. So I thought I'd check it out. And much to my surprise there were several stores which had closed and it seemed like a ghost town. Very sad to see long time retailers gone from the area. Even The food court has only a few places left. Hopefully Whirlly Ball and the theatre will help attract customers. I used to love this mall. It had everything I needed and several big Department Stores. It's in a very sad state. I was shocked today when I visited just how many stores have closed. It's like a ghost town and about 1/3 of the stores are vacant. A once thriving food court now has only 3 restaurants. There is a new Mad Chicken restaurant that opened just outside the food court where Five Guys was once located. COVID did this place in when the governor shut brick and mortar commerce down for months. These stores just could not survive and with online competition it's just a rough environment to operate in. If you are in the Milwaukee Metro area and want to visit a vibrant, thriving mall it looks like Mayfair is the last choice. All the other malls are dying, Southridge Mall included. read more

An easy 5 Stars! This indoor mall is large, clean and safe, in a great location off the highway, has a really nice JC Penney and a lot of the stores my daughter likes. We found several good deals and then had Bourbon Chicken in the good court! (It's a favorite of mine that we can usually only find in malls!) We had a great time shopping and walked out with arms full of bags in a quick trip while we were in Milwaukee this past weekend. read more

I'm indifferent to Brookfield Square. It's a mall, with typical mall stores and typical mall people shopping there. On the plus side, BS seems to have fewer "security issues" than Mayfair and the Boston Store is far superior to the versions elsewhere in the city. There's lots of parking. If you need stuff at Sears, they have one. On the minus side, there's almost nothing about this mall that gets me excited to come here. Most of the stores are the same as at other malls and the mix of retailers skews toward teenagers (H&M, Old Navy, etc). Even the restaurants are pretty boring. Meh...it's ok. read more

I'm sorry. I do not know what is happening here! It's like an abandoned building and WHAT IS THAT SMELL?! The food court is slowly getting smaller and smaller. Stores are closing. And again WHAT IS THAT SMELL? I can't tell if it is sewage or dead animals. My son works in the mall and says it has something to do with the grease traps, WHATEVER it is Brookfield Square do something! There are so many businesses investing in the outside - their business are going to be hurt by whatever is happening with the mall. I actually really liked this mall! I prefer it over Mayfair Mall because it has a lot of the stores Mayfair is missing. H&M, Victoria's Secret, Old Navy (inside the actual mall - no outside entrance which I find strange for ON), Express, that's all I need. Happy Sarah. There seem to be a lot of cool restaurants including Cooper's Hawk in and around the mall. I heart Cooper's Hawk. They have a surprisingly good food court too. More interesting choices than just the usual McDonald's. Brookfield is a bit further for me than Mayfair, but I may just make it my regular area mall from now on. read more

This mall is the best one stop mall for plus size woman! It has Maurices, Lane Bryant, Torrid and CJ Banks. Jc Penny, macys and sends have plus size too but I never go to those stores. This store is smaller. Sometimes difficult to find parking but it's slow on the weekends, full of mom's with strollers and relatively peaceful unlike the nearby malls full of rift raft and young kids. The food court had gotten better options too! This mall is always clean and looks good too!!! read more

Do I really have to review this place? Ended up here by happenstance on Saturday afternoon. My wife and I decided to stop in to see if anything was new since we haven't been there in about 5 years. Brookfield Square decided that it was wise to remain just as we left it in 2009. That year my friends and I dubbed it "That 70's Mall". This is a consumer Mecca with over 100 stores. We spent over 2 hours here and spent a grand total of $3.86 here, and that was just to get my daughter a snack and some milk. There was a store with local sports stuff that I used to like here, but it is gone along with two of its neighbors. While the website makes this place look fancy, it looks way outdated compared to most of the other Milwaukee area malls. Why do I get the feeling that this is the "Old Folks" mall? I came here on Saturday and there was barely any teens here. It's weird. I almost bought a couple hats in Lids but couldn't find the ones I liked in my size. My wife inquired about a hat for my daughter that she's seen at other stores, and the guy here said "Go to Mayfair. Go to Southridge. Anywhere but here, we are the smallest store in the area and we have nothing." I think this should be the new marketing campaign for Brookfield Square. read more

Oh Brookfield Square.....I feel like the inside has seen better days and the selection of stores is geared more for the suburban teenager. The only reason I go inside the mall anymore is for The Loft and the Grassroots salad place in the food court. I thought I had read in the paper awhile ago that Brookfield Square was supposed to get all these great stores that we don't have around here, but it looks like most are still going to Mayfair or the new mall being built, The Corners. Brookfield Square has recently gotten some good restaurants on the exterior of the mall, but the inside needs some better stores to keep people coming in. I will go often at lunch and the parking lots are full but hardly anyone is in the actual mall. read more

As a product of the 1980's it always pains me to see a mall in decline. Yes, I know, malls served their purpose and now people have moved on, and honestly, I am glad to see the revival of the "downtown" but still I always hate to see a mall die a slow death, and this mall certainly is doing that. you can tell, by the architecture and decor that this place used to be one of the more upscale malls in the Milwaukee area, but today many of the storefronts are closed and probably half the food stalls, in the food court are empty. Granted, the food that was there was a step above the standard mall names. My daughter and I found a place that sold Arepas-if you don't know what those are, look them up and then set about trying to find a place to try them. They are awesome!!!! Beyond that, the place just seemed sad. Sure it was a week day evening, but we were only a few weeks out from Christmas and I would have expected a bustling, if not super busy mall. Instead there were a few stragglers doing some shopping from retail workers that seemed as sad as the mall. As much as it pains me to say it, maybe it's time to put this place out of its misery because it seems like it is too far gone to salvage. read more

I find Brookfield square A-OK! My daughter and I spent the afternoon there not too long ago. We enjoyed our time there. There are many different option for children's and adult clothing. Finding a mall with both H&M and Old Navy is hard to do. My daughter also enjoys Justice. So, overall, the clothing options are great at Brookfield Square - add to the above options: New York and Company and Boston Store and you are good to go. One of the draws for me of Brookfield Square is the Barnes and Noble. The Barnes and Noble offers a weekly Story Time for children. There is book reading, songs, and a craft. Check with them for dates and times that are age appropriate for your child. One area I find lacking at Brookfield Square is the eating options in the food court. There are many options outside the mall, but as a mom of young children, going outside of the mall is just one step too many with a four year old. There was no child friendly food options. There was nothing that really appealed to me either. Brookfield Square is recently went through a make-over. The redecoration was nice. read more

The mens restrooms off the food court were disgusting. I've seen cleaner restrooms in a ghetto 7-11 with a crackhead out front. Also, the stall door didn't close. Worst part is, this was at 11:30 in the morning literally 30 min after the mall opened so that just proves it was simply neglected. Didn't eat in the food court after that because of the restrooms and also half the tables were nasty. Again 30 min after opening. If y'all are suffering from janitor jobs pay someone more. Or fire whoever you have now. read more

I visited the Rue21 store in the Brookfield Square Mall in Brookfield, Wisconsin. They had a special on tank tops for $8 but on closer inspection, each tank top was individually priced $1. My wife and I checked out with a tank top and a couple other items. The woman at the register said that the tank top would cost $8, not $1 like it was labeled. Obviously, someone had put a price tag on the tank tops and made a mistake putting $1 instead of $10, but I thought it being their error, they should honor their mistake and allow me to buy it for the listed price of $1. She said no and her manager came up and was extremely nasty and had an attitude. I was upset that they would make such an argument over something they clearly messed up on. I let it go, but then when we left, we noticed the girl at the cashier gave us a dollar less in change than what was owed. There was no point in going back, cause obviously neither would have believed us if we had tried to claim an error. The management at that store was completely obnoxious in the way they handled the situation and treated us as customers purchasing from them. I almost walked out without buying anything I was so ticked off. But I didn't want to make a scene and not let my wife get what she wanted. But that was the worst case of customer service I've ever seen and I used to work in Fast food. Don't waste your time going inside that store! read more

We all like to think that we generally like people, enjoy being in social settings and relish human experience. Then, right in the middle of that thought we wake up, realize that we're at a freaking mall and someone just ran over our foot with their brat's stroller and the free sample guy has managed to sneak 6 pieces of bourbon chicken into our hands. It's enough to make you want to move to Outer Mongolia and become a GD shepherd. I've never really been a huge fan of Brookfield Square. The stores are geared toward Brookfield Betty and her school uniform kids, the food is well, mall food and the layout makes zero sense. The lone redeeming features include the Lids Clubhouse, formerly the Brewers Clubhouse Store, which sells tons of local sports gear. They also have a Bartolotta's kiosk that makes buying gift cards convenient. Aside from those items this place is a total nightmare. read more

Brookfield Square has only gotten better than it once was. The variety of restaurants has improved and now it's a matter of getting to them early unless you're willing to wait for a table. The North Face store is one of the greatest, latest additions. As far as I'm concerned, all this mall is missing is a Banana Republic. This mall is clean and much more modern than it was before. The one added bonus in comparison to Mayfair for me is that you always feel safe at this mall. One of the many reasons I keep going back. read more

Brookfield Square is only getting better. That's a fact. Is it perfect? no. But it used to really suck. Mitchell's Fish Market is a great lunch spot, Bravo is pretty good too. I love that there is an H&M store, which until recently I had to travel to either Bayshore or Chicago to shop. The shopping is decent throughout the mall, and it just has a safer feel to it than Mayfair, though Mayfair has better stores (including Williams Sonoma, Restoration Hardware, and more). The fact is, you never hear about any sort of violence at BFS. It's peaceful, and not full of juvenile delinquents. read more

Although smaller than Mayfair, I prefer going to Brookfield Square because A) Less people, B) Easier parking. I believe this is a newer building, and the interior is very clean and safe. Yes, the selection of stores is not as good as Mayfair, but they seem to have all the basics (Plenty of clothing stores, food joints, and a book store!). You're just not going to find any stores like LUSH or Nordstrom in here - which is totally fine. The mall scorecard: + 1 point for having a book store, even if it is Barnes and Noble. + 3 points for the Aurora quick care clinic. + 2 for having a really good mix of stores. The mall seems to have slightly more clothing stores, but there's a fair variety of categories. - 1,000 for the obnoxious Kiosk sellers. No, I do not want to buy some overpriced hair straightener. + 999 because every mall has these vultures now. Brookfield square just seems to have a larger (and more aggressive?) concentration of them. Overall: Preferable to Mayfair (less crowded and easier to navigate), more selection that Southridge, watch out for the Kiosks. read more

It's not huge but it provides a nice shopping area and a more upscale feeling. There's plenty of areas to sit down and nice wide walkways.

I like this mall. It is close to my grandparents house so I go here a lot when I'm in the Milwaukee area. There are definitely some stores that I like here. I noticed a review from 4/30 that said something about people looking at you weird and not touching your hand when giving you change if you are a person of color-- I don't agree with that at all. My husband is black and I've been here with him and my daughter many times and they've never felt the least bit uncomfortable. Anyways, food for thought. I just don't want people to discount this mall if you aren't white. Overall, I like it and I will be back. read more

A very solid shopping experience with just about anything you're looking for. The variety of stores is impressive and includes stores specializing in just about anything you might be shopping for. The food court is also solid, with restaurants ranging from standard fast food like Arby's and Taco Bell, to some solid Cajun food and they even a steakhouse and a few other restaurants if you don't mind stepping outside to get to them. Rocky Rococo's is a traditional favorite with my family (if you haven't had Rocky Rococo's pizza, you're missing out, and they have some of the best breadsticks I've ever had.) If you're looking for some pricey collectibles, naughty gifts, an eye exam or you just need to get your car fixed up, this is easily one of the most extensive shopping centers in the area. read more

Brookfield Square is a very nice, clean, safe mall. It isnt quite as big as mayfair or southridge, but it has great stores and lots of restaurants, either attached our in the parking lot. While the layout of Brookfield Square has always been absolutely bizarre, I was pleasantly surprised on my recent visit by how nice it is these days. I hadn't been in for about 5 years and things are really looking nice. Lots of great stores and non-creepy kiosks. Only complaint: there was a mouse running around outside Boston Store. It looked pretty well-fed, though and seemed to be searching for a way out. So I think it had come in from the crazy thunderstorm. Poor little guy. While not as high end as Mayfair Mall in terms of shops, Brookfield Square is an excellent place to go clothes shopping due to the variety of stores, particularly for petites (Yes, I'm under 5'4"). Their H&M has more variety and seems better stocked than the one at Bayshore and they have a well-stocked Old Navy store and Express (Yay!). It's also worth noting that they a large Bakers and NY&C with more selection than Mayfair or Bayshore respectively. Their Boston Store selection is also fancier compared to the one at Bayshore Town Center and Mayfair and they have a JC Penney that carries fairly stylish clothing for the most part. They also have a Sears store and The Limited, though I can't comment on either since I haven't been inside them. On the plus side, they're also close to Mayfair Mall (approximately 3 miles apart, I think) and they're on a busline (MCTS Route 10). Although I live downtown, it does take a rather long time for me to get there and somehow, I keep having this impending feeling that it'd be easier for me to go down to Chicago by Greyhound or just go to Bayshore Town Center to do my shopping instead. Overall, good mall with nice trendy clothing. Definitely one I enjoyed visiting. read more

Brookfield Square has gone downhill a lot in the past year or so. With both anchors closing, plus many storefronts vacant, the atmosphere is not as pleasant as it used to be and traffic has decreased greatly. The ambiance used to be relaxing and upbeat, now it's chaotic and filthy. The restrooms on the west side of the mall are absolutely disgusting, smelling of feces and vomit that made us wretch. The overall sanitation is poor, with bins of garbage overflowing throughout the mall and an odor of feces across several wings of the mall. Security presence is near nonexistent. Seems there is not enough demand in the area to maintain 4 adjacent malls/shopping centers (Mayfair, Mayfair Collection, Brookfield Square, and the Corners of Brookfield). Sad as this used to be a nice place. read more

Brookfield Square is just another local mall. The crowd is more older, refined people. They do have some decent stores, but nothing as fun as Mayfair. I will not go out of my way to go here, but it makes a nice centralized meeting point before dinner or a night out. If Mayfair had an Old Navy store, I would never have a reason to come to Brookfield Square. read more
